Online Flash Video Issues

Greetings, folks. I am having a terrible time watching Flash videos online (from Google vids, YouTube, Hulu, etc) on Firefox 3. I have to click on the "Play/Pause" button numerous times in rapid succession for it to register. When I click to adjust the volume, the volume bar pops up, only to disappear when I move to change it. Once the video starts, I can watch without interruption, but I have the aforementioned problem if I need to pause or restart. This problem started yesterday, after more than a year of enjoying the online streaming videos with this setup.
Any ideas? I have the newest version of Flash Player 10.
Thanks!

Okay. That suggests a problem with Firefox. Do you have the latest version of Firefox?
If you have bookmarks you want to keep, you'll want to save them before proceeding. I'm not sure if my next steps will delete those.
Delete the application from the Applications folder. Also delete the Mozilla folder in home>library as well as the Firefox and Mozilla folders in the home>Library>Application Support folder.

  • Flash Video Issue

I keep getting the following error message when I try to
insert flash video with a skin: "The URL cannot contain spaces or
special characters. Change the path of file name and try again."
I've changed to all lower case and eliminated spaces but to
no avail. Here is an example of the url I've entered:
    media_video/SistaShirl_June06.swf and
    media_video/goswaipunagroovy.swf
Any help for this would be appreciated.

P.S: Try an option from the dropdown menu on the page and except "a dimond bullet" which I know is faulty, and witness my issue.
Also when I replay the MP4 movie clip after full download and viewing it displays without skipping...!
    Thanks again.

  • Fullscreen Flash Video Issues

On all browsers it seems that flash videos from certain sites (not youtube) will fullscreen initially and then only populate the top left quadrant with video. My flash is up to date and so are my browsers.

Check the Adobe forum area.  There could be other Mac users with the same issues.  Solution would be found there if any.

  • Creating Flash video issues

I am trying to convert a .mpg to a Flash video and can get
most of the way but it's not playing on my web page. I can view
locally when I do a open with IE and it plays before I upload all
the files but once I upload all the files it will not play.
These are the steps I am taking to do this:
    1. Open Macromedia Flash Professional 8
    2. Select File/New/Flash Document
    3. In Document Properties change Dimensions to: 354px w x
    240px h
    4. File/Import/ImportVideo...
    5. Where is your video file? On your computer: (Browse to
file 'ff.mpg' and select Ok) then click 'Next'
    6. Deployment: I select 'Progressive download from a web
    server' (click Next)
    7. Encoding: In dropdown I select Flash 7 - Medium Quality
(400 bps) and on right side change my slider to start where I want
it to and then click 'Next'
    8. Skinning: Skin = ClearOverPlayMute.swf and click 'Next'
    9. Finish Video Import: Click 'Finish'
    10. Then a Save As pops up and I save to demo.fla (Flash
Video Encoding Progress shows it encode the video)
    11. I can see the video in Flash 8 and view the video by
going to Control/Test Movie and works great.
In my /flash folder I have the following files: ff.mpg,
    demo.fla, ff.flv, ClearOverPlayMute.swf, demo.swf
    12. Open Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 and create new web page
    (File/New)
    13. Click on the flash icon and select demo.swf and it
creates code and upload demo.html along with all the other files
    excep ff.mpg
    Link is:
    Page with my
    code.
Does anyone have any ideas why this isn't working? Do I have
to set something on the server? A friend with MX didn't do any
    encoding.
Thanks for anyone that have any thoughts.

I am also facing the same problem and I am told that you have
to configure the MIME settings on your server
& ensure that the path to the flv. is correct.
    Hope this helps

  • Flash Video Issues In Safari 5 w/ 10.1 Flash Plugin

    Hey Folks-
I've tried everything I can think of and read everything I could find, but I am still finding that there are a variety of flash-based video sites with content that is not loading. Some flash video loads, some does not. The pattern is not at all clear, but for example, the flash video on PBS.com and ESPN.com always fails to load. This development seems to be new to Flash 10.1, but does not replicate in any other browser.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled flash, repaired permissions, cleaned out the plugins folder, reapplied the OS combo update, etc, etc. No change.
Below are the errors that show up in the activity log associated with a few failed flash video loads- I'm not really clear on how the plugin works on the backend, so I am not sure I can make heads or tails of these, but I knew some of you would be able to. Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks very much!

    UPDATE:
When trying to load flash video content on ESPN just now, the video starts to load, then the flash controls disappear and the video just remains black. The browser reports no errors and nothing shows up in the activity log.

This may be applicable to your problem:
Update 10.6.4 included an out-of-date version of FlashPlayer*. Try deleting it and installing the latest one from Adobe even if it has the same version number as the one you have:
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
    * To avoid this situation in the future, Apple recently announced that Macs would in future not have Flash Player pre-installed, precisely to avoid this situation, saying:
We're happy to continue to support Flash on the Mac, and the best way for users to always have the most up to date and secure version is to download it directly from Adobe.
They also noted that this will be happening across all Macs in the future, though there may be some models still in the channel with Flash pre-installed.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Flash Video Issue

I have Dreamweaver CS3 running in OS X 10.4.11 all updated.
all of a sudden when I go to insert a Flash Video into a page I get the wheel of death and DW is frozen. I formatted the video in Flashconverter and it plays fine in mpeg streamclip.
The Insert dialog opens and I can chose the flash video and then hit detect size and the controls I want. and then I hit ok and the wheel comes up and never goes away.
If I create a new sit it will let me add the video.
Any ideas why this is happening?

  • No Audio in online flash videos [garageband didnt work]

quicktime works online [so do system alerts, itunes, etc] but youtube/myspace/google videos, pandora radio, project playlist all have no sound in web browsers (safari, firefox). this is happening on all user accounts on the computer.
it seems to be a common problem but none of the following has worked for me:
    • ive tried opening garageband and adjusting audio midi [doesnt even go up to 96kHz only 48]
    • reinstalled flip4mac
    • reset PRAM
    • ive emptied safari cache, trashed macromedia prefs
    • checked the MIME quicktime panel settings
    • all four of the safari web content boxes are checked
    • ran disk utility: verify/repair disk permissions
    safari: 3.0.4, quicktime: 7.3, wmv player: 2.1.3.10, foxfire: 2.0.0.7, adobe fp: 9.0.115.0
help? i love my mac but all these silent videos arent really my thing.

Hi Dramamine and welcome to the forums!
    Sounds like a Flash problem.
These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
It is known to work in the great majority of cases with Safari 3.0.4, QT 7.3 and OS 10.4.11. (If you are running Leopard, ensure that all plug-ins have been updated for OS 10.5)
Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.9 or above (this has not yet been verified with Leopard) and have Quicktime 7.2 or above, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 10 for Mac from http://forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html?platform2=Mac%20OS%20X&product= RealPlayer%2010&proc=g3&lang=&show_list=0&src=macjack
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
    Adobe FlashPlayer from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. This: http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/index.cfm?email&NewsID=19845 may also interest you.)
In Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
See also the very informative post from QuickTimeKirk dated Dec 3, 2007 in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1268489&tstart=0
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them).
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them).
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
The world should now be your oyster!
You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.

  • N8: Online flash videos like youtube not working.

My N8 used to play all the videos on youtube and other websites a couple of weeks ago, but now, it doesn't. When i open youtube or any other website in desktop mode in the default browser, instead of the video being played, there is a sign of "Flash" in it's place, rest all the page is loaded properly, including comments and all. But the video isn't playing. But it is working in my friend's N8.
I am Attaching the screenshots from my N8 while accessing youtube in desktop mode via the default browser.

I really don't have a problem using youtube in the browser or using any of the available apps unless I'm on edge, on 3G or wifi it plays fine  ! You really need a strong and consistent connection, as I work in a bad reception area, I tend to download video to my phone to be able to watch where ever I want, if it won't work on your phones , I suggest you visit a Nokia Care Point !

  • Why does my CPU overheat playing online flash videos?

Last year my CPU would melt playing youtube videos in firefox browser. My research found that it was
a compatibility problem between firefox and adobe. So I switched to chrome and problem fixed.
Now the last couple months (this year) its doing it again but not on youtube but rather on facebook or
any other site that uses flash embedded videos. It screams to 100c in minutes.
I have updated drivers, cleaned my cpu etc etc. Now in searching  the forums here it seems
Im not the only one experiencing this and all the questions are marked answered yet I have not
found an answer that works ie disable hardware acceleration.
I am running AMD dual core with GeForce 2gig vid card.
    Any thoughts/solutions?

How much RAM do you have installed?  What model Mac do you have?

  • C6 cannot play online flash videos

the browser in c6 though supports flashlite but still it is unable to play youtube videos.
The flash player keeps on loading and no videos appear. However when switched to 'standard video players mode' , you can easily watch them.
Is anyone else able to play video in the browser itself? Is there any solution to do that?

I am also facing the same problem, but not for youtube site. Other video sites having trouble in playing the videos, not even in the standard real player.
Can anyone help me in getting the flash lite 3.0 file so that i can reinstall flash in my mobile?
Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.

  • Creating an online Flash video editor

    Hi,
I'm a complete newbie with Flash. I'm wondering if it is
possible to create a Flash player that includes video editing
features (such as the ability to mark in/out points, etc). The
editing wouldn't actually be done by the player/editor, the in/out
points would be written to a text file for use in a "real" video
editing package. Is this something a custom Flash player could do?
If so, how would one go about doing that (i.e. tools needed to
create custom flash player features)? Does anyone know if this
    already exists?
    Thanks

I wish this was an easy thing to do. I am looking for the
    same.
I have always wanted a shopping site made in flash.

  • Java Video Issues in Snow Leopard

    Hello,
After a little help and adive....
Been trying to fathem out my trouble with Java videos and games, I have looked through previous posts and tried what has been sugested and still not working, only thing I havnt tried is reinstalling Java, as I can seem to work out how to!
The videos are choppy, or I just get a black screen for about 15 sec, and games wont load or I cant click anything, I have been to the Java site and tested my installed Java and it showed it is working.
The Java prefrences wont let me select between 64 and 32 bit, and I dont have the check box that is the solution via Mac Support.
I get the same problems on Safari, Firefox and Chrome.
I am running a Macbook Pro on:
    Version 10.6.8 Build 10K549
    Safari 5.1.5
    Java 1.6.0_41-b04-415
    Any help would be great!
    Cheers, Steve

Java games?  What games are written in Java?
Even more curious, what videos use Java?
I think you are confusing Java with flash.
I don't know about the games but the video is dependent on a number of things; whether other processes are hogging the cpu, your internet connection speed, how fast the video server is, and how high the resolution of the video is.  In the latter case most online flash videos like youtube allow you to lower the resolution.  They have a little gear in the lower right toolbar of a video which you click to lower the resolution.
Make sure you have the latest flash plugin installed.  You should download it only from the adobe site.

  • 10.7.4 update causes YouTube and Flash video Errors?

Since updating to 10.7.4 yesterday, I've noticed that YouTube and other online Flash videos stutter, stop and continue playing, or pause frequently. Has anyone else noticed this bug? I'm using the newest version of Chrome but tried Safari as well and noticed the same kind of bug. If anyone has a fix it would be greatly appreciated.

File a bug report with Apple.

  • Cant see flash video online?

I downloaded the cs4 trial to test it out. Working on a video
site. I uploaded an 28.8mb .mov file into flash via the import

up once I upload it into my host online. I've tried changing
setting and saving at flash 9 but no results. The HTML framework is
fine but no video. Am I missing something?
And while I'm at it what Is the best way to import videos
