Online Links for Multithreading C++ Application in Unix

Hi Everybody,
I am working in Solaris Sparc 5.8 Machine. I need to implement Multithreading for C++ Application in Unix Environment.
It would be of great help if you can mention any website or online links which gives examples of how to do Multithreaded Programming for C++ Application in Unix Environment.
Thanking you in Advance.
Thanks & Regards,
Vasu

There are two questions there, threading on Solaris is well documented on docs.sun.com, just search for something like pthread_create.
How you use the C APIs in you C++ code is down to you. You could have a look at boot threads for one possible solution.

  • Providing online Help for Flex-based applications

I have been asked to provide online Help for a Flex application. As I have never done this before, I have a few questions:
    - What is the format for the Help topics?
    - Are there control-type files (e.g., TOC, index, project file) that need to be created? If so, what is the format for these?
    - Is the Help compiled? If so, which compiler is used?
    - How is context-sensitive Help created?
I'd also like to know if there are any resources I could look at that covers these Help issues. Thanks.

    Hi,
You can acheive the same by the addition of [USER-COMMAND fcode].
RADIOBUTTON GROUP group [USER-COMMAND fcode] - The addition USER-COMMAND can be used to assign a function code fcode to the first parameter in a radio button group. The function code fcode must be specified directly, and have a maximum length of 20 characters. When the user selects any radio button of the radio button group on the selection screen, the runtime environment triggers the event AT SELECTION-SCREEN and transfers the function code fcode to the component ucomm of the interface work area sscrfields.
So you code should be altered as
    PARAMETERS: rb_appl  RADIOBUTTON GROUP rad
USER-COMMAND radclick    "Addition which you have to make.
                         DEFAULT 'X',
                rb_pres  RADIOBUTTON GROUP rad ,
                p_file   TYPE ibipparms-path.
    AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON VALUE-REQUEST FOR p_file.
      IF rb_appl = 'X'.
        PERFORM f_applictn_server_filenm.
      ELSEIF rb_pres = 'X'.
        PERFORM f_presentation_filenm.
      ENDIF.

  • BEx Broadbasting:  Online links for object type WB not defined

I got this over in the Portal Content Development forum but figured it would get more views here:
I'm trying to broadcast an online link to the portal for a workbook. I can publish it as a MS Excel file but I get the following whenever I try to Broadcast to portal as a "online link to current data".
"Online links for the specified object type WB are not defined"
I've been beating my head against it for several hours and know the help.sap.com links to broadcasting by heart. Anyone have any clues as to what I missed?

    Hi,
Check the transaction RSPOR_CUST01. I guess you are using BEx 7 in which case integration with the portal is a must. Check whether the settings have been maintained in the above said transaction.Let us know.

  • E-Recruiting EHP4 WebDynpro link for create internal application and portal

    Hallo there,
we have installed ehp4 with web Dynpro and I am searching the link for creating an *internal* application.
The external Aplication I found in the se80 ERC_C_APPL_MGMT_UI. But this link is only for external applications.
The other Links I try to find is for the portal. I need it in the ESS and the MSS.
I didn't find them in the package PAOC_RCF_UI_SELF_SERVICES.

    Hello,
For creating manual internal and external applications, the WebDynpro application is the same - ERC_A_APPL_MGMT. The component is the same ERC_C_APPL_MGMT_UI as you have said in your e-mail. In this component you can also check the view V_APPL_DATA and see that both fields for internal and external are available. The fields are determined at runtime based on whether you have selected 'Internal' or 'External' link in the portal. In the recruiter portal role, when configuring the pages for internal or external you use Application Parameter IS_INTERNAL. If IS_INTERNAL=X then this parameter will be passed to the component mentioned above and the system will know that it should display internal candidate fields. If  IS_INTERNAL=' ' then system will display for external and this is the default.
You can click package PAOC_RCF_WD_UI > Web Dynpro > Web Dynpro Applicat and right click ERC_A_APPL_MGMT to test. When the page opens, you can add parameter &IS_INTERNAL=X to the URL and you will see it will change to internal application page.
    Hope this helps.

  • Online Help for WD ABAP application

We develop a WD ABAP application ("as a product") and want to provide an online help. In our last version we used an HTML online help (about 250 static HTML pages)
    1) I see the option to create such an help in the Knowledge Warehouse. Since we develop a product this help there would not be of any use for customers who do not have the KW. Or am I wrong here?
    2) Since the number of HTML pages (250+ html files, lots of images and directories) is significant I doubt I want to import them all to a WD application's MIME repository.
Q: Is there any better option than 2), or is 1) an option at all.

    Hi Frank,
You could also store the online documentation on any kind of web server and link to it from the web dynpro application. Btw.: The WebAS supports WebDAV, which allows you to upload large quantities of files in a convinient way. Moreover, since the type of mime objects is online documentation, you might consider adding it to the public part of the mime repository. Storing it inside of a Web Dynpro component would require users to be authenticated in order to read it.
    Best regards,
    Thomas

  • How do I reset responses (and summary report data) and use my online form for a new application?

I created my online form, distributed it and captured the responses - worked well.  Now I want to use the same form and start over (track the responses separately from the first time). How do I reset the results / responses? Thanks for any help you provide.

Go to the My Forms tab on the main dashboard (were all of your forms are listed). Select your form and hit the duplicate button. This will make a copy of your form and you have the option to include or not include the responses in the copy.

  • Can any one provide links for cross applications

    hi friends,
actually iam new to ale, idocs, edi.but i don't have real time experience, but i learned each and evry concept thru book arvind&Nagpal.i wud like to know the links for these cross applications.i would be thankfull if anyone can provide link
can we populate data into idoc thru function module.i guess we can do?how?

    Sunil,
Take a look at the following links.
    http://help.sap.com//saphelp_470/helpdata/EN/0b/2a611c507d11d18ee90000e8366fc2/frameset.htm
    http://www.sappro.com/downloads/OneClientDistribution.pdf
    http://www.sapgenie.com/sapgenie/docs/ale_scenario_development_procedure.doc
I am not sure what do you mean populating idoc using function module, If you are talking about standard IDOCs the IDOC's are triggered by the standard program.
You can still trigger IDOC's manually using MASTER_IDOC_DISTRIBUTE function, You will have to fill in the data in a specifc format of EDID4, add the control record and execute the function.

  • No separate compilation & linking of multithreaded translation units?

Solaris 10 Multithreaded Programming Guide, Chapter 8 (http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/816-5137/compile-94611?a=view) states:
"The Sun Studio C compiler (cc) provides the -mt option to compile and link multithreaded code. The -mt option assures that libraries are linked in appropriate order, and is intended to be used to compile and link in a single step.
If you compile with -mt and link in a separate step, you might get unexpected results. If you compile one translation unit with -mt, you must compile all units of the program with -mt."
The Guide does not provide a way to compile and link in separate steps.
The Guide continues to show how to do Compiling and Linking in the POSIX Threads Environment:
    cc -mt [ flag ... ] file... -lpthread [ library... ]
What does this really mean? Does this mean that there is no way to compile a translation unit without linking, and then compile and link all the units to generate an executable? If I want to do the following:
    % cc -mt -c file1.c
    % cc -mt -c file2.c
% cc -mt main.c file1.o file2.o -lpthreadI would get unexpected results?
    Should I do this instead?:
    % cc -mt -c file1.c -lpthread
    % cc -mt -c file2.c -lpthread
% cc -mt main.c file1.o file2.o -lpthreadIs this what Sun means by "compile and link in a single step"?
    Or must I do this?:
% cc -mt main.c file1.c file2.c -lpthreadOn the other hand, note that the Guide also says "If you compile one translation unit with -mt, you must compile all units of the program with -mt." It seems to imply that one can compile a unit without linking. Otherwise it would have said "If you compile and link one translation unit with -mt and -lpthread, you must compile and link all units of the program with -mt and -lpthread." I am confused.
    The Sun Studio 12: C User's Guide Appendix B (http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-5265/bjapp?a=view) says:
    "B.2.46 -mt
Compile and link for multithreaded code.
This option passes -D_REENTRANT to the preprocessor and passes -lthread in the correct order to ld.
The -mt option is required if the application or libraries are multithreaded. ...
Modules that are compiled with -mt must also be linked with -mt. ...
If you compile one translation unit with -mt, compile all units of the program with -mt."
It does not say anything about -mt's compiling and linking in one single step. The words "compiled with -mt must also be linked with -mt" seems to suggest that one can compile and link separately.
The Solaris 9 Multithreaded Programming Guide, Chapter 7 (http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/806-6867/6jfpgdcob?a=view) suggests a different way (not -mt) to compile and link a multithreaded program - using a -D_POSIX_C_SOURCE option. There is no "single step" requirement. Can one still use this approach to compile and link translation units in separate steps?:
    % cc -c file1.c -D_POSIX_C_SOURCE=200112L
    % cc -c file2.c -D_POSIX_C_SOURCE=200112L
% cc main.c file1.o file2.o -D_POSIX_C_SOURCE=200112L -lpthreadAnd as an aside, I notice that there is a difference between the Solaris 9 Guide and the Solaris 10 Guide on the position of the -lpthread flag in the cc command line. The former, in the "Linking With libthread or libpthread" section, says: "To use libpthread, specify -lpthread before -lc on the ld command line, or last on the cc command line." So I guess if there is a -lm for example, then -lm precedes -lpthread on the cc command line. The latter, as shown in the first paragraph above, suggests that -lpthread precede -lm: cc -mt [ flag ... ] file... -lpthread [ library... ]
I am not sure whether Sun really means that the position of -lpthread should be different between Solaris 9 and 10.

The C Users Guide and Solaris MT Guide are separately maintained. The part you quote might have been true once long ago, and the material never reviewed.
The C Users Guide is reviewed for every release, and we try to keep it correct and up to date. So, you have some "insider information" because apparently you work for Sun. But this Multithreaded Programming Guide also appears to be revised for every release of the Solaris OS - at least between Sol 9 and Sol 10. As I compared them in my original post, they propose different approaches to compiling a multithreaded program. That is, the Multithreaded Programming Guide was updated for Solaris 10 in this regard. Therefore, it does not appear to me that the Multithreaded Programming Guide is not accurate because it might have never been reviewed and got outdated.

  • Online material for tablespace and backup

    Hi All,
As i am a beginner, can anyone please suggest me any online link for better understanding about tablespace and backup for a beginner.
    Thanks in advance
    Arun

Hi, follow down a resume did for me in my blog:
Creating Tablespaces Permanent, Temporary and UNDO in ORACLE
Tablespace Datafiles is a set that contains the physical structure of the data storage system Operacional.Sendo thus tablespace is an allocation of space used to store objects of a given user. To create a tablespace in a database, the user will have to have the grant (permission) of Tablespace and Create to create the SYSAUX tablespace (beside SYSTEM, are the most important database), should have the grant of SYSDBA. A tablespace is a logical unit of database and that is part of the following structure:
Database> Tablespace (logical drive)> Datafile (physical file)> Segments (logical drive Example: Tables)> Extents (set of blocks, logical drives) >> Blocks Bank Data (logical unit, a smaller structure database)> Blocks Operating System.
In this article we will be focused on the following types of tablespaces : The permanent tablespaces, the tablespace temporary tablespace and Undo. However, it also will be elucidated creating tablespace with multiple datafiles at once.
    - Permanent Tablespaces: Contains a user objects in a database. These objects are stored in physical structures called Datafiles.
    SQL> create tablespace TBSEXEBRUNORS
    logging
    datafile '/ dbbruno/datafiles/datafile1.dbf'
    size 64m
    autoextend on
    next 64m maxsize 2048m
    Local extent management uniform size 1m; 2 3 4 5 6 7
    Tablespace created.
Creating a Tablespace with multiple Datafiles at once:
    SQL> create tablespace TBSMISCBRUNORS
    datafile '/ dbbruno/datafiles/datafile2.dbf' size 4M
    '/ Dbbruno/datafiles/datafile3.dbf' size 4M
    '/ Dbbruno/datafiles/datafile4.dbf' size 4M
    logging
    extent management site; 2 3 4 5 6
    Tablespace created.
It follows a consultation in view DBA_TABLESPACES:
    SQL> SET PAGESIZE 180
    SQL> SET linesize 180
    SQL> SELECT * FROM WHERE DBA_TABLESPACES tablespace_name = 'TBSEXEMPLO' order by 1,2;
    Tablespace_name BLOCK_SIZE INITIAL_EXTENT NEXT_EXTENT MIN_EXTENTS MAX_EXTENTS MAX_SIZE PCT_INCREASE MIN_EXTLEN STATUS CONTENTS LOGGING FOR EXTENT_MAN
ALLOCATIO PLU segments DEF_TAB_ RETENTION BIG PREDICA ENC COMPRESS_FOR
    TBSEXEMPLO 8192 65536 1 2147483645 2147483645 65536 ONLINE PERMANENT LOGGING NO LOCAL
NO SYSTEM AUTO DISABLED NOT APPLY IN THE HOST
    - Clause for managing EXTENTS
The autoallocate clause specifies that the tablespace is managed by ORACLE , and that users can not specify sizes. Moreover, this clause is not allowed to UNDO tablespaces or Temporary. However, the clause UNIFORM specifies that the tablespace is managed by a user (you can specify sizes) via byte sizes, the default 1M (megabyte) to use this clause. Already the LOCAL clause specifies that the tablespace is locally managed and some part of the tablespace is reserved for Bitmap, which is the DEFAULT option for the type of permanent tablespace. But the DICTIONARY clause specifies that you want the tablespace is managed using the data dictionary.
    - Management of SEGMENTS clause
The AUTO clause specifies that you want the ORACLE control the free space of segments in the tablespace using BITMAPS. When making use of this option, ORACLE ignores any storage specification later this tablespace. ORACLE strongly recommends using this option. However, this option should only be used in permanent and never tablespaces in a tablespace SYSTEM. However, the clause MANUAL option is not recommended by Oracle, specifies that you want the ORACLE control the free space of segments in the tablespace using freelists (PCTUSED, FREELIST, FREELIST GROUPS).
    - Temporary Tablespaces: Contains temporary data for a given session for a given period of time. Furthermore, this type of tablespace tempfiles and have no, Datafiles. This tablespace is used when a user, to which was assigned temporary tablespace, begins operations. Thus, the tablespace temporary stores temporary data used in transactions of users.
    SQL> create temporary tablespace TEMPEXEBRUNORS
    tempfile '/ dbbruno/datafiles/tempfile1.dbf'
    size 128m
    autoextend on
    next 32m maxsize 2048m
    extent management site; 2 3 4 5 6
    Tablespace created.
    - UNDO Tablespaces or Tablespaces Undo: Tablespace used for operations redone, so that objects can not be created in this tablespace. When this tablespace is created, the ORACLE tablespace SYSTEM takes for you to make such operations. However, the default is to always create an UNDO tablespace when creating the database, so that it is in the mode of automatic undo management.
    SQL> create undo tablespace TBSUNDOBRUNORS
    datafile '/ dbbruno/datafiles/tbs_datafileundobrunors_1.dbf "
    size 200M; 2 3
    Tablespace created.
It follows a consultation in view DBA_TABLESPACES:
    SQL> SET PAGESIZE 180
    SET linesize 180
    SELECT tablespace_name, STATUS, RETENTION, SEGMENT_SPACE_MANAGEMENT, EXTENT_MANAGEMENT, INITIAL_EXTENT DBA_TABLESPACES FROM WHERE tablespace_name = 'TBSUNDOBRUNORS' order by 1,2; SQL> SQL>
    STATUS tablespace_name RETENTION segments EXTENT_MAN INITIAL_EXTENT
TBSUNDOBRUNORS NOGUARANTEE MANUAL ONLINE LOCAL 65,536
    - Clause for retaining segments
The RETENTION GUARANTEE clause specifies that the data store should ORACLE undo expired, even though current operations return fails due to lack of space. This option can be useful in operations FLASHBACK (which is a "flashback" to obtain, for example, the value from a table that was deleted and it is necessary to know the value of that in a certain period). However, the provision RETENTION NOGUARANTEE (as above) specifies that the ORACLE data undo may replace expired undo by new data being processed due to the operations in the current environment, this being the provision pattern.
    I hope I helped, hugs!!

  • Broadcasting online links result in too long url

    Hi,
we want tot broadcast bookmarks to user groups as online links. The generated mail contains a URL which is longer then 256 chars and therefore cannot be used by the user via a 'one click' action. If you check the generated url, not only the bookmark is included but also a long string of chars which are related to variables in the query/bookmark.
Can we some schedule an Online link for the bookmark, and not having the additional chars in the generated url regarding the variable.
    Thanks and regards,
    Hans.

    Hi,
I think you cannot schedule only the bookmark id through broadcaster..
Check the below link..  may be u can reorganise or delete the bookmark id..
