Only DV and HDV in Capture Format list!

I've
watched some of the tutorials showing a LONG list of available capture formats, when set
ting up a project- Why does my purchased
DL only show DV and HDV as my only two choices?

Why doesn't this capture list show up when setting up a project?
Are you reading what we're writing here? The marketing literature you're referring to makes a canonical mistake in its reference to "capturing" formats like RED, Sony XDCAM, XDCAM EX, XDCAM HD, Panasonic P2, or AVCHD. Those are all tapeless formats that are imported or ingested, NOT captured. Therefore, the capture format doesn't make one bit of difference when editing those formats. Just import the files and be done with it.
Definitely read the whole help file, but focus particularly on this section: Importing, transferring, capturing, and digitizing

  • CS3 PP and HDV recording/capture

Good evening and thank you for the assistance as my school ventures into the world of HD!  I really appreciate the insight on this forum and am grateful for your responses!
    EQUIPMENT DETAIL
I do not have the computer specs in front of me but they are brand new machines with 3 GB RAM and other stats which fall in line with a typical 3 GB machine.  Windows XP.  Firewire, USB ports.
    Camcorders:

    USAGE & PROBLEMS
A couple of hiccups along the way so far.  I've gotten the walkman device up and running with PP and it's terrific; very fluid.  However, I can't seem to find a way to actually capture in high def.  I'm THINKING this is because I've only recorded in standard using a regular old mini-DV tape and the walkman device simply knows there is no HD signal to send but I wasn't sure.  I'd like to get some HD tapes to try things out but thought I'd ask here first if that all sounds right.  Makes sense that I wouldn't be able to capture in HD with HD footage, but I was hoping to ease my mind before actually trying haha.
I was given the impression, and still hold it, that this camcorder will record in both standard and HD.  I've recorded on the camcorder using a standard tape and can get it to play back on the camcorder, but when the football coach tried to play the mini-DV tape in his device he uses to dub tapes for other coaches, it simply would not play.  Sort of odd.  Is there some sort of setting to tell the camcorder, "hey, I only have a regular old mini-DV tape in you"?  I have not really tested this much myself but promised the coach I'd look into it for him.
Finally, I was beginning to think that part of the problem in all of this may be my lack of knowledge in regards to the settings when creating a project.  I used to always use the standard 48 setting.  This works still and I can capture my standard mini-DV tape no problem it seems.  When I finally get to the bottom of this HD business, knowing what tapes and settings to use, how should I be creating a project in PP?
    RECAP QUESTIONS
    1) Assuming I need HD tapes to record and capture in HD, what other tidbits must I know when using this equipment together?  I know this is likely the case (duh) but I wanted to check in case there were other red flags as to why this might not be letting me do anything HD.
    2)  Will the walkman capture to PP in HD once I've actually recorded something with my HD camcorder and HD mini tape?
    3)  How do I get the camcorder to record, and actually playback outside of the camcorder itself, when using a standard mini-DV tape?  In limited testing (see football coach discussion above), this appears problematic.
    4)  How can I tell the camcorder to recognize the difference between HD and standard.  Is this even necessary?  It never appears so when recording but playback is giving us problems in our limited testing (again, see coach example).
    5) What project creations settings would I be best suited to use?  What are the differences when talking standard versus HD.
*I've had the darndest time with camcorders shorting out and losing connectivity.  The primary reason for the purchase of this Sony walkman device is so that I have a stationary (and locked up) capture device connected at all times that will never be plugged in and out over and over.

A careful reading of the camera's manual will help significantly to get you on the road, as well as some basic education in video editing. Till then you may be better off with a consumer software, like Premiere Elements, Magix Movie Maker or WMM.

  • Cannot change capture format CS4!!!!!

    Hi all,
This is incredibly frustrating.  I have a Sony HC1 and have decided to trial Premiere CS4 before deciding to buy the full version as I have been using Final Cut for years.  The problem I face is that I cannot even capture any footage.  I have been reading for hours about making sure the i.link conv is off, which I have done.  I also understand the HDV is not an option in the trial.  I have my camera set on DV, but when I atttempt to try and change the capture format, the ONLY option I have is OuickTime (see image).  I have tried everything to get this setting to change to DV so I can move to the next step of solving the problem!
    Anyone shed any light? Thanks!!!!
    tristan

The best advice I can offer is to follow the Help guidelines here:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/PremierePro/4.0/WS3AD1B705-E907-48cf-B4B8-4E84F9605128.html
Then try to capture.  What happens?

  • DV capture format is the only option... Where's HDV?!

In Premiere CS5, When I start a new project or try and capture into a project built for HD videos, I can only capture footage in DV mode.
This means I end up with footage at 720x576 instead of the 1920x1080 I'm looking for.
This is what I get when trying to choose the capture format:
I'm using a MacBook Pro, with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.
I'm capturing from a Sony HVR-Z7E Camera (but this shouldn't make a difference as I'm not getting the choice even before I connect my camera.

    1. Recreated the prefrences  and launch Premier again.
    2. Created a new account and also enabled the root account and then launch the application.

  • Only One Capture Format Option

    First - I am a total newb.
Now that that is out of the way -
I am learning Premiere CS5 and am wondering why in General Settings, I have only have the DV option under Capture Format.  Shouldn't I also have HDV and Quicktime?
    Help!

Thank you!  Attached is what I've done to set up my new project.  I am concerned because I am learning from Lynda.com and there seems to be a some differences in options for setup.

    Hostname: $hostname<br><br>
    IP Address: $ipaddress1<br><br>
    Problem Details: $objTextBox<br><br>
    Running Processes: $runningprocess<br><br>
    Any ideas?

Just place it in quotes to see what happens:
     $runningprocess = Get-Process | select ProcessName | format-list
    "$($runningprocess.GetEnumerator())"
    OR
    "$($runningprocess"
Both do the exact same thing.
It is the Format-List that screws thing up.  It does not produce text output. It is a collection of objects.  Adding <br> to the end does not add line breaks to the lines.
XonvertToHtml is really the only way to get the desired output.  Remeber that HTML does not break a line on a CrLf.
    Try this:
    $p=Get-Process | select name | FL | Out-String
    $html=@"
        <h1>Test table</h1>
        <div>$p</div>
    $html>test.html
    .\test.html
You can easily see that it doesn't work.  The assummption about GetEnumerator is misapplied because it is not a hash table and it is not text.
    $p=Get-Process | select name | FL
    PS C:\scripts> $p.GetType().Name
    Object[]
    PS C:\scripts> $p|%{$_.GetType().Name}
    No hash tables.  No strings.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm using Photoshop CS5 and there is no PNG listed under format in save as.

PNG files can only be RGB - they are intended for screen viewing. If your intention is to produce a CMYK file for printing, you must use a different format, like tiff.

  • Using Dreamweaver CC 2014.1.1, when I select a set of paragraphs to turn into a Definition List, and select Format - Lists - Definition Lists, I get the dl tags but do not get the dt or dd tags?

I have used this before in earlier versions of DW and it worked fin.  I tried tonight with CC 2014.1.1 in either design view or in codeview with the same results.  I would select the text from the starting <p> tag to the ending </p> tag, and then in the menu choose Format - List - Definition List and only get the <dl> tags.  Anyone else experience this?
    Thanks!

That's how it works in CS6, too.  And it is not just for definition lists.  That is the expected outcome no matter which list type you use.   DW doesn't know where the DTs and DDs begin and end because you've highlighted an entire paragraph and asked DW to format it as a DL.
I typically code my own Definition Lists.  It's faster.

  • HDV not showing as option under capture format in CS5

DV is the only option in the drop down box under capture formats in CS5.  Is there a way to activate the HDV option?
    Thanks

Are you using a trial version of CS5????
MPEG2 files, such as that used in HDV streams, are not supported by the trial versions.

Usually if you have some kind of hardware failure there is some beeping during POST or most motherboards now have LED indicators to produce and error message based on the type of failure
So if its bad memory, not place properly, mismatched, processor not inserted properly, mismatched voltage or voltage connector not present etc it beeps or generates the error id.
Power supplies can be tested for failure. There are some walk throughs for testing just them with a switch, paperclip or a jumper (I'd suggest not doing this if you are not familiar with the dangers of electricity).
Memory can be tested with memory diagnostics programs like Memtest+
Processors can overheat if the proper precautions have not been taken usually you will get a POST beep or error code for that.
If the motherboard has no response then do the basics first:
Check power connectors and power supply. Once you determine that is not the case move on to other items like graphics cards in all the way or memory.

  • Illustrator CS3 Import and Export File Format list?

    Hello,
Has anyone typed up an updated supported import and export file format list for CS3? I used to reference a support knowledgebase document, 1001741, (no longer on Adobe's site) that showed the majority of file formats and versions that Illustrator was able to import. I searched all over and couldn't find one, then called support and they confirmed they no longer had a list like that available--they had split the import options into separate lists--like what versions of Photoshop files, what versions of .eps files, .tiff files etc. Illustrator CS3 could open.
The reason I was looking because I wanted to see what version Corel file CS3 could open after I was not able to open a customer's v.12 .cdr file.
    Thanks,
    Rick H.

I am pretty sure that the last supported version of Corel that AI can open is version 10.

  • IPhone 5 unable to use mobile data, only FaceTime and passbook listed

my iPhone 5 is unable to use mobile data, only passbook and face time are listed, none of my apps. I have tried re setting and this didn't work, mobile data is switched on

    Hi Lydia,
It may help to force close all open apps and reset your iPhone.
Force an app to close in iOS
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT5137
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT1430
If you still can't enable mobile data for your various apps, the next step would be to reinstall iOS on your device by placing it in Recovery Mode, then choosing Update in iTunes.
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.
When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on
