"opaque" for variable type in debugger

I am debugging a database package body. I see some variables listed with a type of "opaque". What does that mean?

If a variable shows up as "opaque", it means that the package in which the variable type (not the variable itself) is defined is not compiled with debug information, or the debugging user does not have the debug privilege to that package (typically when the package belongs to a different database user).
If that package is not compiled with debug information, just recompile it with debug information. If the debugging user does not have the debug privilege to the package, just have that package owner grant the debug privilege on that package to the debugging user via "grant debug on xxx to user_yyy" (or have the DBA do so).

The mistake is
Selected node 5 does not exist
The node 5 selected as the start value for characteristic 5 with the specified compound table does not exist in hierarchy NHSTOPU.
What is the problem?

Configuration of the variable:
Variable Type - Hierarchy node,
Characteristic - NCSTOPU,
Hierarchy - NHSTOPU,
Replacement type - user-exit,
FUNCTION MODULE NAME - ZCCB_AHR_VAR_HIER.
In the planning level the characteristic NCSTOPU is set with this variable.

Tweak the deserialization of ASObjects to treat an empty string for the type of an object as null. It appears that there is some logic in the LC remoting code that relies on a non-null class name to always exist. This change reverts to the old behavior of not allowing empty string as a value for the ASObject.namedType.
This should fix bug 2448442 and its duplicates caused by the recent serialization changes.
I don't think this is the perfect fix. Pending further investigation, a better fix would be either:
a. If it's OK to assume that empty string should always mean null for the type of the ASObject, the code that enforces it should be in the setter/getter inside ASObject and not in the deserializer.
b. ASObject doesn't guarantee that a named type exists or is valid. In that sense an empty string is as bad as some random characters that cannot be a valid class name in java, so depending on how disruptive it may be, the fix should be in any logic that uses ASObject.getType().

Yes, you are right - but this message is standard AQ Adapter Header message - it's not defined by me. I just used message which was automatically added to my project when I have defined AQ Adapter.

Do you mean targetNamespace? If yes it's different as it points to process "targetNamespace="http://xmlns.oracle.com/PF_SOA_jws/PF_APPS/APPS_PROCESS" (names of application and process have changed as I try different ways to do that)

When I create a variable of header type, namespace ns1 is automatically created for it. I set it as property of receive activity. When process is instantiated on the serwer I get the error in which you can see that namespace is tns.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I don't see how I could fix this in my process.
You can see that the message I get on the server has nothing in common with the application/project/process names. Is it possible to define such variable?

In Transformation xsl file, both variables (source and target) has tns namespace for Header and PayloadHeader, and no namespace for subfields.

Could not determine value for variable 0P_FVAEX (or 0P_CTPCA)

I get the below error while accessing a query on the planning Info Cube. I used the SAP Exit variable Most Current Data (Transactional InfoCube) (0S_RQTRA) in the query for the Characteristic - Request ID (0REQUID) to extract the data from the yellow request too.
I do not use the below variables as in the below eror in my query at all. Please assist.
Diagnosis
This error diagnosis is specific only to the variables 0P_FVAEX or 0P_CTPCA !

you need to take a closer look at your query. Somewhere you used one of the 0P_* exit variables, which work only for controlling related InfoCubes. Use your own variables.

Default value for variable are not within permitted value range (precalc)

Issue:
I have created a variable (Characteristic Value/ Manual input-default value) and use the precalculated value set (details-basic settings). In the further variable definition I could select the precalculated value set in 'Default values', which I have defined beforehand in the broadcaster..
The precalculated value set in the broadcaster settings is just based on a master data query on 0CUSTOMER.
Error:
The variable gets the error E991/R9E Errors: Default values for variable 'XXX' are not within permitted value range.
The detail description of the error is: You defined default values for variable 'Sold-to party precalc value set for manuel input' that are not appropriate for the variable type; for example, a range is defined as a default value for a variable that only permits a single value.
So please has someone had the same issue and found out how to solve it? It would be excelent to get good solution for this issue.

Error when executing a scenario based on Variable type Latest Value

I have created two ODI varaible -
1) filename of type as "Historize"
2) id of type as "Historize"
I have 2 Models -
1) One is based on FIle Technology with resource name as #CUSTOMER.filename (dynamic filename) (TARGET)
2) second is based on Oracle technology which contains two relational tables (SOURCE)
I have an interface in which one-to-one mapping is done from source to target.
At the junction of two source tables..i have put a query as "CUSTOMER_PAYMENT.CUSTID=CUSTOMER_DETAILS.CUSTID and CUSTOMER_DETAILS.CUSTID !=(#id)"

User Logic for Conversion Type Instead of Hard coding in query.

Hello , Good response from SDN but thats all standard which I know. Please help me to resolve the problem as stated below. SDN friends are always best help.
Requirement: User will select the Target Currency; Will select the Exchange Rate like Monthly Avg 002M. Now there has to be a variable in Conversion which tells the logic to pick Conversion Type ZVHGR if Exchange Rate = 002M, but if Exchange Rate = 001, then Conversion Type ZVHMR.

Approach to solve above
1. I have created a Currency Translation Type " FiscperConversion" "ZVHGR" now this has Exchange Rate Type from Variable "ZVARN" (Which is a variable single value manual input on 0RTYPE Infoobject for exchange rate.)
2. Now Currency Tab: Target Currency is selected from Variable placed in the Report. ZRPVAR.
3. Now the Variable Time Reference is used. Standard Infoobject 0FISCPER
which is beginning of period.
Now all the above is done. Let go to the query and For Value of kEYFIGURE "Audit Balance" in Conversion Tab Conversion Type is specified is "FiscperConversion" ZVHGR"same as above and thats it. But the problem is here user want a variable that user can select the Conversion Type Instead of Hard coding.
Please suggest how to create this variable for Conversion Type and specify in query designer since In Conversion Tab this is not allowed to have variable.

CTK ( currency translation key) includes
1. Exchange rate type - variable
2. Time base - Variable
3. Source abd TGT currency - variable
if all the things are given in variable why and what extra you need by selecting currency translation key from user input. I think you should ask business user again abt their requirement.
I can think of inputing CTK if say you have choosen time base as static ( Fix value)...say in one key u r using fiscal period as base and in other u r using calday as base...

Filter value for variable selection screen

This could be a tricky or an easy question, but it seems too hard for me !
I'm storing version in my cube, and have a report which shows informations for the version you select (with a variable = ZVERSION01).
ex : Version :
V01
V02
V03
V04
When report is executed i have my variable selection screen (for variable ZVERSION01) which give all version [V01 -> V04]. But i want users have no access to version V01 & V02.
Variable ZVERSION01 is "single selection", i tried to filter with Default Values screen or Characteristic Restriction screen but it doesn't work.
ex : caracterisitic restriction screen : VERSION = !V01 / !V02
default value screen : variable VERSION = ZVERSION01

Hi,
In BI 7.0 there is Anaylysis authorisation RSECADMIN transaction. That you can use here or normal role concept will also do.
What you need to do is grant authorisation to the users for V03 and 04 version only and create 'Authorisation' type variable on version in the query. (type of variable - it asks while creating the variable). This way users will only be able to see authorised versions only.
Note you have to make version infoobject as Authorisation relevent infoobject. ( in infoobject properties).

So I've have built an application on flash builder 4.5 using Christophe Coenraets' tutorial "Building an EmployeeDirectory" (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/articles/employee-directory-android-flex.html#articlecont entAdobe_numberedheader).
I'm getting this error message "In initializer for 'mxmlContent', type Object is not assignable to target Array element type mx.core.IVisualElement." and then the debugger highlights my code this line of my code "</s:List>" in my EmployeeDetails.mxml file. This started after I coded Part 5, Step 2 "Integrating with the Device Capabilities: Triggering the Actions". The rest of the code debugged fine.
I think it relates to Christophe's note "Note: Make sure you import spark.events.IndexChangeEvent (and not mx.events.IndexChangedEvent) for this code to compile.". I don't know where to place this
" import spark.events.IndexChangeEvent;" line of code.

You have a DataGrid directly inside a State element. Perhaps wrap it in an AddChild element?

Validate Activity Doesn't work for String type Element

Hi Experts,
I am using Validate Activity in my project to validate the variable against the Schema
In my XSD I have element with below definition:
*<xsd:element name="XXXXX" type="xsd:string" minOccurs="1" nillable="false"/>*
When I pass NULL value to XXXX its getting processed successfully. Whereas it supposed to throw an error like 'XXXX" can't be empty
_When I change my XSD for this element like:_
*<xsd:element name="XXXXX" type="xsd:integer" minOccurs="1" nillable="false"/>* and when I pass NULL value to XXXX it gives below error
Invalid data: The value for variable "VariableResult", part "body" does not match the schema definition for this part Invalid text '' in element: 'XXXX'
Same is the case with Validate check box in ASSIGN activity
I need to check *40+ string elements* to make sure they are NOT NULL, Please can you suggest what the fix for the issue or alternate approach to achieve the same.

I suspect that when you talk about "null" value for a string in fact you talk about an empty value (<node/> or <node></node>) which is different and will generate an error in the case of an integer because "empty" is not an integer.
A null value is represented by <node xsi:nil="true"/>.
Of course I can be wrong.
If you want to raise an exception on empty string you should use this kind of declaration inside your XSD :
<xsd:element name="XXXXX" minOccurs="1">
<xsd:simpleType>
<xsd:restriction base="xsd:string">
<xsd:minLength value="1"/>
</xsd:restriction>
</xsd:simpleType>

How to define new variable types in BPEL?

Is there a way to define a new variable type directly in BPEL, without modifying any of the WSDL files used by Partnerlinks?
Or to import an XSD with variable definitions?

It depends on what you want to use the variable for. You may not need to do it yourself. Let's assume you have a main wsdl for your service that you can't change but it has the inputs and outputs already defined.
In the middle you want to grab the input and shove it into a database table. You can create a new partner link. Rright click in the swim lanes on the BPEL page and pick the little database icon. Go through the steps to link to the db via an insert or package. You will need a db connection to do this.
jdeveloper will create the partner link wsdl and schema for you to match the table or the ins/outs of the package/procedure automatically.
Then drag an invoke onto the page and pull the arrow to your new partner link. Use the magic wand on the invoke screen to create the input/output variables.
Then you can use a transformation or assign/copy to pull the data from the input message variable of the main wsdl into the input variable of your database wsdl.
Or your situation may not be that complicated...if you click the little (X) on the edge of the box on the BPEL screen you can go through a picking process.

Rectrict list of possible values for variable in Bex

I need to give a user possibility to choose only few value for variable in Bex report. Number of entries in master data is huge. I need to show only 7 possible values in the window with variables.

You have a tricky requirement but I can only think of one thing but it would require user training. Try the following.
You can setup a new variable with default values and define it as type multiple single values.
The user could in the variable screen would then need to take out the ones that are not needed.

Have any of you noticed that the selection option functionality for variable entry while creating a variable does not allow wild card entry,Even though you create the variable with selection option as input.
In 3.5 we had option the option "contains the pattern " but in 2004s its not available in the variable entry screen.

Back then I had sent a message to SAP and was told that the functionality would be rolled out in new SP's. I am very curious as too how others are handling this problem, as they are bound to be reports for which such variables are a must.
