Open 10gR2 form in 10gR1?

hi folks,
I'm working on a project to migrate Forms 4.5 to 10g (initially 9.0.4). I have some standard forms, menus, procedure libraries, and object libraries that I'd like to use - or at least to demonstrate. They're written in 10gR2, so I can't open them in 10gR1. What's the best way around this problem if I can't install 10gR2 on client's PC?
Can I use fmx->xml/fmt in 10gR2 (at home) and then xml/fmt->fmb in 10gR1 (at work)?
Or is a tiresome cut-n-paste job?

My users are having trouble trying to open oracle forms 10.1.2.0.2 and downloading JInitiator file 1.3.1.22 from F&rR AS for the first time. I've heard there's a way to configure my AS to let my users open the same oracle forms but using their own operating system JVM.
With that I would not only be solving problems related to slow downloading and installation of JInitiator file but also problems that come up due to diferent OS and web browsers (IE 6, IE 7, IE 8, Mozilla, etc.) and their versions which are also part of the problem.

This is a confused and confusing issue. There are no quick fixes. Bear in mind the following points:
Word is a client program. It can only open documents that can be seen from a client PC. If you cannot see your database server's directories from a client PC (and I would hope you can't) you cannot open that document.
what you are left with is creating a copy of that document, transporting it to the client realm, and then overwriting it back on the server after your user has finished with it (if they're editing).
there are many different ways of doing this, but they will probably involve writing an API in VisualBasic or Java. Alternatively you might look at Oracle's IFS.
This is not the right forum for a detailed solution - try the Developer forum (or IFS if that floats your boat).

My suggestion would be to try converting the form to XML using <10gHome>\bin\frmf2xml.bat, and altering this XML to look like R1 XML. Simply changing the Module version might do the trick, but probably not.
To see the difference between 10gR1 and 10gR2 XML formats, take a reasonably complex R1 form and convert it to XML. Next, upgrade that same form to R2 and convert it to XML. Compare the two XML files.
Applying the knowledge gained from this comparison, modify the XML from your original R2 form. Try converting back to FMB using <10gHome>\bin\frmxml2f.bat Please share your findings with the forum!

I am setting my Windows 7 64Bit environment to work with Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2, connected to a 10.2.0.1.0 DB. Everything seems to work with Reports Builder, but not yet with Forms. When I double click on a .fmb file, a appcrash raises. Here you are the details

to workaround this problem, I must to open Forms Builder, connect to the DB, then open the form. In this way, I can work. But it would be better if I could have the option to open the form by double click. How can I resolve this issue? thank you

Obviously you didn't read the instructions on metalink how to install forms 10gR2 on windows7; there are a number of patches which need to be applied in order > to have iDS working successfully on windows7. The forum search is useful in this case, as this question is asked almost once a week.

If you don't have a valid support contract then the only option is to use a virtual XP. Windows7 64 bit isn't certified btw. so you might or might not get it to work > in any case.obviously i didnt read the instructions on metalink because they have blocked our account, despite on we have upgraded our contract to golden licence (and regularly paid)... damn on them!

FormsServlet Error during opening of form in Internet Explorer

Hi
I have installed Database10g Rel2 in my system. After that i installed Developer suite suite 10g Rel2 into same PC. this is for personal use on single PC.
But when i opened the form builder and runing one form made on same 10g forms during applet initialization it gives an Internet Explorer error and closes the form.
in OCJ4 it gives test = False.

If the browser is crashing, the problem is likely related to a JRE conflict. If you have any Sun JRE/JPI installed and running, then try to run a form with Oracle Jinitiator, the browser will crash. We have also seen this problem when Jinit does not correctly install for one reason or another. Knowing this information would be helpful in us assisting:
- what operating system and version?
- which JRE/Jinitiator are you attempting to use?
- is the Sun JRE/JPI installed on this machine?
- did you install Dev Suite in the same home with the Database?
Things to be aware of:
Reference to "Home" is the same as "directory". You cannot install the Database in the same Home (directory) as Developer Suite. Each must reside in their own parent directory.
Internet Explorer 7 is NOT supported for use with Forms 10.1.2.0.2. Refer to the following for more details:http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/10gR2/clientsod_forms10gR2.html
Recommendations:
1. Close ALL open browsers
2. Uninstall Jinitiator and any Sun JRE (if installed)
3. Reboot
4. With ALL browsers closed, manually install the Jinitiator version configured in your formsweb.cfg
5. Retest.

Error while opening a form after R12 install

Hi,
I have installed EBS R12.0.4 on linux. The install is successful and i am able to login. But when I am trying to open a forms session I am getting an error "Unknown plugin (application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.5.0_13)". I am using Mozilla Firefox 3 beat 5. The browser is unable to find the java plugin required to open a forms based session.
Can anyone let me know the reason & provide the steps to install the required plugin?

Hi Amit,
You need to have a valid entry in the hosts file (under %Windows%\system32\drivers\etc directory) as follows:
<IP Address> <hostname.domainname>
IP Address: is the IP Address of the machine where Oracle Apps is installed
hostname.domainname: is the hostname and the domaninname where Oracle Apps is installed
From IE, add the application URL to the trusted sites list and access the login page from the following URL:
http://<hostname>.<domainname>:<port>/OA_HTML/AppsLogin
To access the application from Firefox, install the missing plugin from the following URL, then you should be able to access the application using the URL posted above.
http://<hostname>:<port>/OA_HTML/oaj2se.exe

TNS Listener error while opening a Form !

Hi all,
I have installed Form/Reports 11gr2 with Weblogic 10.3.6 64-bit & database 11gr2.
All installations and configures are successful.
But when I give URL address (servername:portno/forms/frmservlet?form=main) to open a form, it gives me following error;
ora-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor.
I searched on google, but didn't clear my error. I also checked Oracle services, all are started.
So please guide me !

I never changed settings in tnsnames.ora, it is always as per default settings. If required now then let me know.
Please note that when I connect my form builder with databases, it is connected. But when I run my form it again show same error and open a dialog box for
username,password & databases connection string.
I copied this file into "E:\Oracle\Middleware\asinst_1\config" of form.
Below is my tnsnames.ora file;

Error when opening Data Form

Also I have tried by removing access for that user and opened the Dta Form but still it throwing me the same error:
You are trying to open the data form, but cannot because all of the required dimensions are not present. Possible causes may be that you do not have access to at least one member of a required dimension, or the member selection resulted in no members present. Contact your administrator

Error when opening the form

Hi everyone,
While opening a form in one of the Oracle Retail applications the error:
FRM:41067-Cannot find Menu Item:Invalid ID
is thrown. However when we click OK, the error goes off and system lets us to continue with using the form.
On another form, the following 3 errors are thrown as soon as we open it:
FRM:41091-Cannot find LOV:Invalid ID
FRM:41828-LOV does not exist
FRM:40738-Argument 1 to builtin SET_LOV_COLUMN_PROPERTY cannot be null.
Again this error goes off once we click OK.
This error is not happening on the base application and is happening only on the customer environment. I checked Oracle Retail specific tables but everything looks fine. Is there any environment specific parameters that could cause this error? Please advice.

The only thing I can think of is that your customer does not have the correct version of the Form that is giving the error. Have your customer bring up the Forms Information screen (sorry, I don't recall the key stroke for this) and have them scroll to the Version section. Then compare this with your form that works. I am guessing that the versions are not the same.
If they are the same, then you might be dealing with a setup issue. You might want to ask your question in the General EBS Discussion forum. I thought Oracle had a forum for their Retail product, but I couldn't find it. This forum would be the next best.

Unable to open Livecycle forms even with latest plug-ins

Hi guys,
I have a created a few dynamic forms designed using livecycle designer ES..In order for my users to open these forms, they need to have atleast Adobe acrobat / reader version 8.1 or higher to view these dynamic files. However, quite a few of my users are saying that they are still unable to open these forms directly from their browser although they have downloaded the latest Acrobat X version and the browser plug-ins in their computer. It happens to both windows and mac computers. But they are able to download these files and open it directly from their adobe reader though. It happens with all browsers for them...some of them have even called up mac support as well as adobe support and they were advised that it could be a problem with my forms that I find hard to believe since it opens in my computer and opens for a lot of other users. Its only a few users still having difficulties and I can't understand why!
Also, I recently uploaded a dynamic file in acrobat file sharing. Why am I getting the below message when I have the latest adobe installed? I am able to open other dynamic forms in my browsers..why does this happen? I wonder if other user's problem is similar to this...not sure...
To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader from etc...etc...etc..
What can be the problem when the adobe version is already updated and also the plug-ins are updated too?? I have read a lot of links in adobe site itself which suggest various methods to test out the forms, browsers, plug-ins, etc..but this problem still happens to some users even after trying out these troubleshoots. Can someone explain if there are other limitations or solution for these users?

I don't have an answer. However, since your question is not about Acrobat forms, but Designer forms, you need to ask in the LiveCycle forum that deals with Desginer forms.

Time to open Web forms too long for the first connexion !!

When we first open a web form in the day, the time to open it, is greater than 10 minuts ( the CPU time used to retrieve the webform is measured at about 20 seconds)
When we do open the webform a second time it takes about 20 seconds to open it!!
Have someone meet this case?
What do we have to change in order to enhance the openning duration of the webforms?

Does it take 10 minutes to open on the server, if it takes 10 minutes on the server and only 20 seconds of that is CPU processing then are you saying for over 9 minutes it is rendering the form in your browser, you can check the browser process on the machine.
If you do want to check or increase the maximum heap size then have a read of :- Re: Heap sizes with Planning11.1.1.3 & Weblogic help
I would also check how much memory the JVM is using when opening the form, you can check using task manager on the server or better still use something like process explorer.

OPEN_FORM Built-In Call from Menu Doesn't Open the Form

I am attempting to open a form from the menu, using the following PL/SQL code:
OPEN_FORM('CODES_MAINT', ACTIVATE, SESSION);
The forms compile, as does the menu. When the code is invoked, it is as if nothing happens. No error is thrown, but the form does not open.
Is there a property value I am missing somewhere?

1. Yes you must recompile the windows developed fmb using the linux forms compiler on the linux box.
2. Make sure the form names are the right case. We always name our forms all lower case in our code and in the unix directory where they reside. Remember, linux filenames are case sensitive. Windows filenames are not case sensitive.

How to make a link in a report open a Form in a different region of the same page ?

I developped a report and a form for the same table. I also created a link and used it in my report so that when I click on the link of one record, the form is opened and display this record.
My problem is that when I include my report as a portlet and I click on a link, the form is opened in full screen mode by replacing the page containing my report.
What should I do in order to open this form in another region of the same page ?

I presume that the two regions are working fine with their individual buttons and your issue is how to make them both save with one button.
Here is how
a. You will have 2 ApplyMRU and 1 ApplyMRD processes for each of the regions. Right? Lets say you have 2 "Save" (i.e. label=Save) buttons, one has name SUBMIT and the other SAVE ( SUBMIT and SAVE being the requests that will be sent when they are clicked , respectively)
b. Make the Display condition on one of the buttons 'Never'. Now it won't show when you run the page. Lets say you made SAVE's conditional Display 'Never'
c. Go and change the condition on all ApplyMRU and ApplyMRD processes from "When Button Pressed" to "Request is contains in Expression1". In Expression1 enter SUBMIT,SAVERegards
