Time to open Web forms too long for the first connexion !!

Hi
When we first open a web form in the day, the time to open it, is greater than 10 minuts ( the CPU time used to retrieve the webform is measured at about 20 seconds)
When we do open the webform a second time it takes about 20 seconds to open it!!
Have someone meet this case?
What do we have to change in order to enhance the openning duration of the webforms?
Thanks

Does it take 10 minutes to open on the server, if it takes 10 minutes on the server and only 20 seconds of that is CPU processing then are you saying for over 9 minutes it is rendering the form in your browser, you can check the browser process on the machine.
If you do want to check or increase the maximum heap size then have a read of :- Re: Heap sizes with Planning11.1.1.3 & Weblogic help
I would also check how much memory the JVM is using when opening the form, you can check using task manager on the server or better still use something like process explorer.

  • OracleDataReader.Read taking too long for the first record

    Hi Guys
I am new to ODP.Net. This is my first time working with Oracle and ODP.Net. I wrote a small stored procedure which returns 25 rows and returns a sys_refcursor. I am capturing that in a OracleDataReader and trying to process the data. I use this in a while loop... the first Read is taking around 10 seconds and from the second on, it is pretty quick. Stored procedure performace is really good when I run it from the SQLPlus or data execute call from .Net. Both web server and database are in the same network, which is really good.
Any idea what's going on? Any links or articles ro any help will be greatly appreciated...
I am using Oracle 10g with ODP.net 10.2.0.2.20. and using .Net Framework 3.5 with Visual Studio 2008.
Here is the code I am using (it is really simple)
Private Sub FillSearchResults(ByVal DR As Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleDataReader)
    Dim objSearch As OCPAFL.DAL.Search
Dim objList As New List(Of Parcel)
    Try
    'Walk through Projects
    While DR.Read()
    ''''.... do the processing here
    End While
    Catch ex As Exception
    Throw ex
    End Try
    End Sub
    Thanks

    Hi,
I dont have any good ideas as to what may be causing it based on the limited information provided, but here's what I'd do to try to troubleshoot it further:
    1) Enable client sqlnet tracing (level 16) with timestamps on, and/or ODP tracing, reproduce the complaint, and loook in the trace to see if you can find a gap in the timestamps to try to isolate where the time is being consumed. Is there one 10 second gap? Numerous 2 second gaps? etc. Is the client waiting on data from the server?
    2) Enable 10046 trace on the database before executing the proc in the app and check the resulting database trace. Are binds occurring differently? Is anything occurring differently in the execution plan using ODP vs SQLPlus?
Oh, also, support for .NET 3.5 starts with 11.1.6.20 ODP, but I rather doubt that's causing the problem.
    Hope it helps,
    Greg

  • A document page opens that is too big for the display and runs off the end of the monitor

How do you fix a problem where document pages open that are too big for the display and runs off the end of the monitor? The borders are off the monitor so there is no window edge to grab and adjust.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • HT4522 Multiple computers on Time Capsule.  "Backup is too large for the backup disk"   ???

I am getting the following error:
    "Time Machine Error
This backup is too large for the backup disk. The
backup requires 15.38 GB but only 3.94 GB are
    available."
I have a two MacBook Pros that I have been backing up to my 1 TB Time Capsule using Time Machine.  Recently, I have started getting errors saying that there is not enough space to complete backups.  Between the two MacBook Pros, there is a max of 400 GB that I am trying to backup.  I thought that old backups were deleted to make room for new ones - so what gives?
I used Migration Assistant to migrate everything from the old MacBook Pro (2009) to a new MacBook Pro (2011).  I also used Migration Assistant to Migrate everything from an old MacBook to the old MacBook Pro (2009).  So, I am now only using the two MacBook Pros (2009 and 2011).
Is it possible that there are old backups on the Time Capsule from the MacBook and the MacBook Pro (2009) from before the Migration?  If so, how do I find them and delete them?
My goal is to create more space on the Time Capsule so I can continue backups of the two Pros.  Thanks for the help in advance.  Sorry if this is confusing.  Please ask questions to clarify.

The time machine does not work as well when there are multiple computers using the TC.
It really does not seem able to dispose of the old backups.
    Pondini may help..
    http://pondini.org/TM/C4.html
IMHO.. The best bet is to plug in a USB drive large enough to save everything on the TC and do a back directly from the airport utility.. disk, archive..
Then wipe the TC using erase.. and do a fresh TM backup on both computers.
Keep the USB drive in a draw for a year and a day.. after that you can assume anything on it is no longer required wipe it and do another backup of the TC.

  • Time Machine: Repeated errors when backing up for the first time using a new external firewire drive

My Iomega 500GB firewire external drive failed on me last week and I have just replaced it with an identical model. I used to use the old drive with Time Machine on my MacBook Pro running 10.5.8 with no issues, until the drive had a hardware failure and stopped spinning up, hence the replacement.
Two days ago I tried using Time Machine for the first time with the replacement external drive. The backup failed and each subsequent backup attempt has failed since then with a different error each time. The drive cannot be ejected using Finder (Finder says disk is in use and cannot be ejected even when no processes are running except for Finder and Time Machine has been disabled), by dragging it to the dock (hangs computer which can only be fixed by a hard reboot), in Disk Utilities (drive cannot be unmounted) or in Terminal ("no such file or directory").
The first backup attempt failed after 3 hours of "preparing" with the message "The backup was not performed because an error occured while creating backup directory".
I tried repairing the disk in Disk Utilities and Disk Utilities said the drive was OK ("the volume Time Machine Backups appears to be OK"). I tried ejecting the drive (hard reboot of computer and disconnecting the drive), plugging it back in again and trying again.
This time it started backing up, then failed after a few minutes with the message "an error occured while copying files to the backup volume". I had a look at the troubleshooting suggested on http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/C3.html and followed instructions. It failed again, so I did a full reset as per http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/A4.html.
It failed again, so I tried reparing the drive again in Disk Utilities and again it said it was OK. I tried using different cables and ports (Firewire 400 instead of Firewire 800), and backups still fail.
I have turned off anti-virus scanning (Sophos). I have tried excluding it from Spotlight but this causes an error message from Spotlight. I have tried trashing the com.apple.TimeMachine.plist file and rebooting. I have tried selecting deselecting the drive as the back up in Time Machine preferences, selecting "None", then "Stop Backing Up" then quitting preferences, rebooting, disconnecting the drive, reconnecting the drive and selecting the drive again as the backup disk in Time Machine preferences. I have tried erasing the drive completely, rebooting, and trying to back up again.
None of these have worked. This is a brand new drive and I do not want to have to replace it again if I do not have to.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

    Hello, some possible clues...
Should you click “Start New Backup”? Not yet! If you see the dialog above, your existing Time Machine backup is corrupt, and you might not be able to recover data from it. But you can save a copy of the corrupt bundle and, perhaps, extract some data from it if needed.
Ask yourself if Time Machine has saved data you might need before deciding what to do next:
If you are sure you won’t need anything backed up before today, click “Start New Backup” and let Time Machine do its thing.
Otherwise, click “Back Up Later” and save a copy before letting Time Machine start a new backup. Just look for a file called “computername.sparsebundle” (for network backups) or “Backups.backupdb” (for local ones) and create a copy with a different name. You can open sparsebundle files with DiskImageMounter and browse them like any other disk. More information is available here.
There you go. If you click “Start New Backup” when you see this dialog box, Time Machine will erase all of your old backup data and start a new bundle. It won’t be corrupt, but it will be empty.
Note that you can manually initiate a Time Machine backup integrity check by option-clicking the “Time Machine” icon in the menu bar and selecting “Verify Backups.”
    http://blog.fosketts.net/2010/08/11/time-machine-completed-verification-backups- improve-reliability-time-machine-create-backup/
According to This Time Machine resource   “This appears only on Snow Leopard, and started with the Time Capsule Backup Update 1.0 in mid-May of 2010.  It also seems to have been included in the 10.6.3 v1.1 update and 10.6.4.”
So, what can you do about it?  Grin and bear it, it seems, until Apple fixes it.
One thing you can do to make the backup take less time is to connect your machine to your Time Capsule or other backup drive via Ethernet for the duration of the initial backup.

  • Time Machine says it will take months for the first backup.

Time Machine said it would take over a month for the first backup on my new Mac. I figured it would get its act together overnight, but when I got up this morning, it said 160 days.
    Here are my specs:
Mac mini 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 (Macmini5,1)
2 GB RAM, 500 GB internal HD
Mac OS X 10.7.2 (current on updates)
    1 TB Seagate
    Connected through FireWire 800
    614.32 GB available
Disk Utility verifies there are no problems
I used the same drive for Time Machine on the Power Mac with no problems. And it's communicating fine with the Mac mini -- I transferred all of my music, photos, applications, and other documents very quickly. Spotlight has finished indexing -- there is no dot in the magnifying glass in the upper right corner of the screen. Activity Monitor looks normal. Right now, the CPU is between about 70 and 95% idle, inactive memory is about 225 MB, and page outs are at 148 KB.
I started Time Machine again an hour or so ago, and it said "About 3 days" right at first, but the number is going up quickly. It isn't completely stuck -- the number of items is slowly going down and the MB backed up is slowly going up (not as quickly as the number of days is going up).
Right now, it says, "Backing up 760,527 items" and "81.4 MB of 222.37 GB – About 104 days."

    Benjamin McDaniel wrote:

Did you run Repair Disk on your backups, and Verify Disk on your internal HD, and both said " . . . appears to be OK"?
If so, Spotlight may be indexing your backups (Lion re-indexes everything, and that may not show the dot in the Spotlight icon).
A clue may be lurking in your logs.  Use the widget in #A1 of  Time Machine - Troubleshooting to display the backup messages from your logs.  See if there are repeated "indexing" messages.  If so, the index may be damaged.  See the pink box in #D2 of the same link.

  • My sync key, which i copied off the website, is too long for the firefox home 3 boxes. what should i do?

i'm trying to create sync between my iphone and desktop.
i followed instructions to download firefox home from itunes and got a really long sync key: x-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
then went go firefox and to preferences and sync and add a device but the sync key is way too long to go into the 3 boxes.
    what do i do?
    thanks

You do not have to enter the syn key in the three boxes on that page.<br />
That is meant for a special code that can be used instead of the user name and sync key for easy set up.<br />
If you do not have that shorter code then click the link at the bottom "I don't have the device with me" to get a window where you can enter all details.

  • Trying to open and read an ebook for the first time

When I click on the ebook file, it says I need to open it using Digital Edition. So when I say OK to do that, it just goes to the Adobe Digital Edition home page. I have gone in and set up an ID in Adobe.

To answer your question on how I got the files on the IPod Shuffle, XP assumed it was some sort of flash drive or something and just allowed me to drag and drop them onto the device. But it was not in any sort of format I suppose where I could play it.
The good news is that I followed the advice here and I downloaded ITunes software and after playing with this software for a while I figured out how it was able to view the IPod Shuffle connected to my USB port. It was pretty cool. And, sure enough, it said that I needed to update some system software on the device. And I did. And -- long story short -- I am pleased to say that as I type this right now I am listening to songs on my IPod Shuffle !!
The only question I have now is this. When displaying for the IPod, ITunes had two tabs to display. One showed the contents and the other showed the settings. I figured out that the contents are loaded by a button from the Music contents and folder. But at the bottom of the settings window I noticed a diagram. It shows the audio files in blue, and free space in white. But the most is what is in orange. I have put nothing but audio files on the device. So I assume that the orange is an operating system of some kind. Or is there something else wrong?

  • How long is too long for the IPod to download from ITunes??

I just swapped my busted IPod for a new one and the installation process seemed to be going fine. I've updated the new IPod, but now I've plugged it in to download my ITunes and it's still blinking Do Not Disconnect after 12 hours!! Isn't this too long? I mean, I have about 2500 songs, so I expected it to take a while, but this seems a bit extreme...what do I do?

You have a connection problem with the iPod. You might need to re-install iTunes.

  • RE: RD 330 Rail Kit too long for the application space

This is my first time posting, I hope I have submitted this to the correct forum..
    My situation:
We have a Middle Atlantic Rack system model RS-46-28, with 46U and a center unit depth of 23.5 in, the Lenovo servers we are using (RD340E1Us, 3 of them) have a minimun span on the mount rails of 29.5 in, in order to get the servers mounted (correctly!) is there a alternate rail kit for the smaller depth of 23.5 inches, or do I need to purchase 3rd party rail kits.  The servers are configured and production ready, switching them, is not a workable option.
Any experience with this rack system or situation?

    Hi Gus,
I am not familiar with the rack you specified, however here is some information on our rail kit:
"The rack cabinet must meet one of the following requirements:
    • Standard 4-post (square-hole), 19-inch rack configuration compliant with EIA-310-E as defined by the
    Electronic Industries Alliance
    • Standard 4-post (unthreaded round-hole), 19-inch rack configuration compliant with EIA-310-E as defined

  • Elapsed time too Long for the report

I have report that is taking a very log time to load when I click on 'All Pages' button. Viewing initial 25 records is quick and paging through records 25 at a time also gives very good performance, around 1-2 secs but viewing all records is slow and scrolling through all the records is also jerky. The browser seems to be hanging after each click. The report is combining data from 3 fact tables and also has 2 columns that have navigation links behind them. All this must be adding the time to render the report, but still the difference is too large. Looking at the logs, the queries ae returning from the database in 15 secs.
I have also observed different behaviours depending on the browser. IE7 is slow and jerky after all the records are displayed. In IE6, the browser hangs for 15 mins in the beginning but after 15 mins, it returns back to normal and scrolling is smooth. In Firefox, the browser hangs for 20-25 secs in the beginning, but once all the records are displayed, it behaves normally. Is there anything that can be done to remove the jerkyness in IE6 while scrolling? Are there any IE setting or setting on BI server side I can change to help with this situation?
    Thank you!

In my experience, DSL Service Ready activation does take anywhere from two weeks to a month. The last time I ordered DSL from Verizon (which, admittedly was about 5-6 years ago), I had to wait 6 weeks for it to be activated, because they had to install a new set of DSLAM equipment to serve my street.
That may be what is happening in your case. All I can say is be patient and follow up regularly with Verizon. Activating DSL service is not a turnkey operation.

  • Running a Form (Oracle 9i) For The First Time

    Hello
I am new to Oracle Forms Development and having difficulty getting a test form to execute in my browser (IE).
When I attempt to run the form (by selecting "Run Form" from Forms Builder's "Program" menu) I get an HTTP 400 - "Page Not Found" Error. The url posted is of the form: "http://server:8888/forms90/f90Servlet?form=..."
This suggests to me that "f90Servlet" is a file, however, this file does not exist on my server machine.
I have confirmed that my web server (apache) configuration is good by entering the url: "http://localhost:8888/" which properly serves index.html in my apache web root.
Has anyone else experienced the same or know how to resolve this issue? Any help would be most appreciated...
    Thanks
    rw

For grins, I started Jinitiator as you said I should (even though I had done it many times before). This time, however, I actually read the ENTIRE output message which indicated that there was an "Error starting HTTP-Server: Address in use: JVM_Bind". Previously, I did not pay much attention to this message since it was followed by the message:
    "Oracle9iAS (9.0.2.0.0) Containers For J2EE initialized"
This was true because the [forms?] web server was attempting to share port 8888 which my Apache instance was configured to use. After configuring Apache to run on a different port, I was able to successfully start JInitiator without errors. Thanks
Oh yeah...no need to apologize to me for reading more than one language...even after three years of high school french, I only read one!

  • Long time computer user looking into server techs for the first time

    Hello there,
I was hoping to get some guidance on if we should upgrade to a server or not. We run a small three person business from our home doing audio and video work. Our main goal is to keep things organized and digital organization is not our strong suit as artists.
So, we would need large shared space for media and project files (gigabit ethernet is fine) as well as a large shared Time Machine for our three workstation's system drives. Also, the idea of a shared ical and shared contacts would be really helpful. None of this needs to be open to the public over the internet (security from the internet is greatly preferred), all just needs to be accessed via ethernet and local wifi via AirPort (iPhones for shared contacts and ical).
The only thing stopping us is the idea that a lot of this can be done without the $500 server software and the headaches of setting up something completely new to us. I have tried asking some Apple store reps for advice but have yet to find anyone there that can give me a for sure answer, which is why I am here to get some professional opinions. So the question, do we need to go the server route to have all these features even though none of it will go though the internet?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks all!

do we need to go the server route to have all these features even though none of it will go though the internet?
"need"? no, but you might prefer to do so.
    Let me explain.
First off, there's nothing in Mac OS X Server, per se, that says it's designed for internet-facing applications. Sure, some of the services are internet-leaning, but don't think that internet/non-internet is the deciding factor of whether to use Server over client.
The fact is that much of what you describe can be done via Mac OS X Client, but it can be done much easier with Mac OS X Server. You might find that the hours you save, and the productivity you gain far outweighs the cost of Mac OS X Server.
Case in point, you have three workstations, right? Is each one used by an individual? or are they shared?
If they're shared, would it be easier for any user to be able to log on at any workstation and get their normal desktop environment, preferences, etc? That's something that's easy to do with Mac OS X Server, but not via Mac OS X Client.
You've already touched on shared iCal and contacts, neither of which are part of Mac OS X client, so you'll have to decide how much they're worth to you.
At the end of the day, you'll have to decide for yourself. Of course, you could take the easy option and defer until Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) comes later in the summer, in which case the server functions are included as optional installs for no additional cost (i.e. buy client and get the Server for free).

  • Sortingtable clears the forms when the column is clicked for the first time

    Hi All,
I have text fields which will take the conditions for search and result will be displayed in the sorting table of the same form,
When the search is done for the first time the result is shown in the sortingTable, but when we click any of the column to get it sorted it clears out the whole screen and shows only the search text fields. But when we do a search again in the same form there after the sort works.it does not clear out.
This happens for the first search after the form is loaded for the first time from the workflow
    appreciate any solution or suggestion
    Thanks
    Pratheep

Thanks for your reply, it did not work even after setting the sortEnable,
The issue i find is when the any column is clixked for sorting for the first time all the form variables even if it is under Expansion is lost, but when we do the search again (even with different criteria) the same page and hit the sort column again the form variables are retained

  • Can I sync my 'PC Free' activated iPhone with downloaded apps to iTunes for the first time without loosing data?

I have an iPhone 4 that has been activated over the air, "PC Free" and have used it for a month without ever connecting it to a computer. I have downloaded several apps, taken a few pictures, and even downloaded a few songs. Now I want to connect to my computer and sync and backup. Will I loose all my data?

Before you connect to a new PC, make sure that autosync is disabled in Edit/Preferences/Devices, otherwise her phone will be wiped during the following sync.
If she has data on the phone she wants to save, back up manually:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to her new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your phone without syncing. Transfer the purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the phone for the first time.
