Open a file using windows dialogue box

I'd like a user to click on a link and they get the windows
dialogue box that asks if they want to save the document or open
it. How can I accomplish this?

by using correct combinations of <cfheader> and
<cfcontent> tags with
appropriate attributes you may be able to force either
downloading/saving of files or opening them in the browser.
but many
browsers will enforce their own setting for a particular file
type.
short of creating 2 pages (say, view.cfm and save.cfm) and
putting 2
links to them next to the file name, you can't give users
much of a
choice, and even then it is not guaranteed to work for all
file
types/browsers.

  • Error opening PDF file, using Windows Vista

    When I first purchased my new pc, regrettably, I was given Windows Vista. There have been a lot of problems. Of late, Adobe Reader gives me an error message when I try to open a downloaded file. I uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader but with no success. Could this be a Vista security issue? I can download and read the file on my work computer which used Windows XP. Also, this problem getting an error message opening and reading a file just recently occurred. I haven't made any changes to my system except automatic program updates. Can you help me?

    I stumbled on a solution: Download the PDF file and instead of saying yes to open the file (because you know you'll get the error message), simply go to where you saved the file (i.e. AOL downloads) and open it there. I have no idea why I suddenly cannot open PDF files but at least I found a way to still get my information. Hope this helps.

  • OBPM Studio on windows 7 - trouble viewing window dialogue boxes

    Hi
    I have recently installed OBPM10g(Version: 10.3.2) on my windows7 64 bit AMD machine using the installable (OracleBPMStudio103200_win.exe).
    Unfortunately I get a blank window dialogue boxes when I say File/New/Project. This is very common any kind of dialogue box I open. Some of them do render, some of them won't. Some of the dialogue boxes will start rendering the component if I start using filters on it.
    I suspected it might be do with my windows Theme I am using. I have tried couple of other window themes. But it did not help. My colleagues did use the same installable on their windows 7 machines it worked fine.
    Except invisible dialogue boxes product seems to work fine. I am able to import a process, publish, and run it properly. But the partially visible dialogue boxes giving me jitters:)
    I have also tried increasing the memory to 1GB.
    Please let me know if I have to configure anything to solve this problem.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Charan

    Out of the box no
    Doing it requires a good knowledge of .Net and JAVA (specifically JNI) in order to build a JAVA wrapper for .Net

  • Opening images in SharePoint modal dialogue box

    Hello Friends,
    I have a world map and upon clicking each continent should open its respective continent information which is a stored in wiki pages.
    I am using the SharePoint designer to create hot spots and then open the wiki pages of respective continents in same tab or another tab or another window. But my requirement is to open them in SharePoint dialog box.
    Is it possible to do that and how?

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to open the respective continent information in dialogue box.
    To open images in SharePoint modal dialogue box, you can refer to:

  • Problem with Photoshop CS6. If I open a file using Camera RAW

    I have a new problem with Photoshop CS6.  If I open a file using Camera RAW, and process it as usual, CS6 doesn't want to save it the way it used to.  I don't know if I changed something by accident or not.
    Here's what happens now: After opening from ACR to CS6 and completinhg all of my work, I choose "Save as..."  The save as window opens showing the file name and format.  The default format seems to be .PSD.  I use the drop down to select .jpg.  The file saves normally as a .jpg.  When I go to close the image from, I get a new prompt asking, "Save changes to Adobe Photoshop document DSC_xxxx.NEF before closing?
    I looked up at the file name in the bar above the work space and noticed that it does NOT change from "DSC_xxxx.NEF" to "DSC_xxxx.jpg" after I have saved the file as a .jpg,in my webesite  but it always used to do that.  This adds a few extra steps when closing a document and it really slows me down.
    In fact, I wouldn't swear to this, but I think it used to save to .jpg by default, without me specifying this.
    I don't see a setting in the preferences for what to use as the default file format for saving, so I don't know where to change it back.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

  • Can't open PDF files from Windows Explorer on Windows 8.1

    Hello,
    after I've upgraded to Windows 8.1, I can't open PDF files from Windows Explorer (directly double clicking the file). The AcroRd32.exe runs in the background (2x !) as I see the processes in task manager, but there is no user interface visible. I have Acrobat
    Reader 11.0.06, the desktop version (not Metro). I tried uninstalling the Acrobat reader and installing it again but this didn't help. The only way to open PDF files is to close the AcroRd32.exe from the task manager, open empty Acrobat Reader from the desktop
    and then drag&drop the PDF file over that window. This is quite inconvenient. Is there a way to fix this issue so I can open PDF files directly from windows explorer?
    Many thanks!

    I had to install adobe reader, but   PDF's used to display just fine with IE, any idea what happened ?

  • Open pdf file using ms access visual basic 2000 (9.0.2720)

    I'm using Acrobat reader to open pdf file using a vb proceedure , how ever I can't get it to open a specific file thats in another file folder.
    The code I'm using looks like the following: This is windows 7, using the (x86) virtual in 32 bit mode.
    Private Sub Form_Click()
    'checks for valid msds document
    Dim fs As FileSearch
    Dim stAppName As String
    Dim i As Integer
    On Error GoTo Err_form_Click
    Set fs = Application.FileSearch
    With fs
                 .NewSearch
                .LookIn = "c:\program files (x86)\cvmm\msds\"
                .FileName = Me![MSDS Index #] & ".pdf"
                .MatchTextExactly = True
    If .Execute() <> 0 Then
                        stAppName = "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe c:\program files(x86)\cvmm\msds\" & Me![MSDS Index #] & ".pdf"
                          Call Shell(stAppName, 1)
               End If
                     End With
    exit sub
    Err_form_Click:
        MsgBox Err.Description
             Resume Exit_form_Click
    Exit_form_Click:
            MsgBox " no file found."
    End Sub
    This used to work when I was using acrobat 5.0,

    You should have quotes around a filename that has spaces in it. Older versions were more forgiving for some reason.
    Much better anyway is to use ShellExecute, which means you don't have to know or care what PDF reading software is installed and how to run it.

  • Windows 2k8R2 - Receiving Error when logging in ( MMC Cannot open the File: C:\Windows\system32\ServerManager.msc)

    Windows 2008 R2 - I just started receiving this when i log in, and also when i try to manage the machine:
    MMC Cannot open the File:
    C:\Windows\system32\ServerManager.msc
    This may be because the file does not exist , is not an MMC console , or was created by a later version of MMC. This may also be be because you do not have sufficient access rights to the file.
    This always worked before, and works for other users just not me on this particular box. This is a production box and i need a resolution quick please. Thanks in advance.

  • Error:Cannot open the file c:\windows\sapmmc.msc

    Hi Folks,
    I have been using SAP IDES ECC 6.2 for a while and now all of a sudden encountered a problem CANNOT OPEN THE FILE C:\WINDOWS\SAPMMC.MSC.
    I am a technical consultant and i know nothing about basis and sap installations.
    Is this error so fatal? How can i fix the problem..
    Thanks in advance.
    Ranjith kumar.

    Hi
    Ranjith
    Hi,
    Looks like your mmc dll is corrupted, with your install and uninstall of software.
    Two Options:
    1. Upgrade the Kernel with latest Patch level, which comes with new SAPMMC.dll file
    OR
    2. Just download the SAPMMC*.sar file from service market place and extract in exe directory, since it is windows re-booting the server doesn't hurt.

  • Opening External Files using SWF

    Hi all,
    Is there a way to open external files using swf? I have gone
    through a number of forums and all seem to tell me to open with a
    window projector. my problem is, I need to embed the swf into a
    html to be viewed online... So I need to do it in swf format.
    Any ideas?

    When you say 'external files' I presume you mean local files
    on the users hard drive.
    If that's true:
    When you say 'open' what do you mean? It could mean to open
    and load a text file/xml file or another swf in flash or it could
    mean to launch a document in its native application e.g. .doc
    launches word etc. Flash projectors can do the first thing, but not
    the second thing. And you need to know the path of the file because
    I don't believe you can retreive it from the filereference browsing
    support. 3rd party tools are necessary to really add a lot of file
    system support to projector applications, and then you can do both
    things mentioned here, without the limitations of flash player
    security which is only slightly reduced with regular projector
    files.
    The filereference class in flash is primarily for
    upload/download support. You can't 'open' local files with it.
    There is, to my current knowledge, no way you can do that with
    flash in a html page directly.
    The only way I can think that it might be possible (untested)
    would be to have a separate local MS Office (or any other host for
    a flash activex that gives filesystem access) with some embedded
    flash in a document that (perhaps) could talk via local connection
    with your html page content and which would in turn talk to its VBA
    host to request local file system activity. I don't know if this
    would work because I've not used localconnection, but perhaps it
    might.

  • How to open a file using OAF

    Hi,
    I want to open a file using OAF. I know the path and file name.
    How can I open it, if file is in UNIX or in windows, where ever.
    Is there any way to do that.
    Thanks in Advance!!

    Hi Ankur,
    I had something link this requirement, that also for a concurrent program output only, but the output was txt file, and make it a zip file and give a dynamic link and open it.
    For that i used the following code, may be it will help.
    String zipout = pageContext.getParameter("ZIPOUT");
    if(zipout!=null && zipout.equals("Y"))
    try
    DataObject sessionDictionary = (DataObject) pageContext.getNamedDataObject("_SessionParameters");
    HttpServletResponse response = (HttpServletResponse) sessionDictionary.selectValue(null, "HttpServletResponse");
    HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest) sessionDictionary.selectValue(null, "HttpServletRequest");
    String requestID = pageContext.getParameter("REQUESTID");
    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition","p; filename=CatExtract"+requestID+".zip");
    response.setContentType("application/x-zip-compressed");
    ZipOutputStream zip = new ZipOutputStream(response.getOutputStream());
    try
    byte[] buffer = new byte[1024];
    int bytesRead;
    //to get the value of output directory
    String fileName = "/o"+requestID+".out";
    Serializable[] parameters = { requestID };
    //Get the output URL for this requests output.
    pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean).invokeMethod("getOutputURL", parameters);
    String outputURL = (String)pageContext.getTransactionValue("OutputURL");
    pageContext.writeDiagnostics(this.getClass().getName(),"outputURL in the xxt CO"+outputURL,1);
    try
    URL fileURL = new URL(outputURL);
    URLConnection urlConn = fileURL.openConnection();
    DataInputStream out = new DataInputStream(urlConn.getInputStream());
    try
    ZipEntry entry = new ZipEntry(fileName);
    zip.putNextEntry(entry);
    while ((bytesRead = out.read(buffer)) != -1)
    zip.write(buffer, 0, bytesRead);
    zip.closeEntry();
    pageContext.writeDiagnostics(entry.getName(), " added.",1);
    catch (Exception ex)
    pageContext.writeDiagnostics(this.getClass().getName(),"Exception 113"+ex,1);
    finally
    out.close();
    catch (IOException ex)
    pageContext.writeDiagnostics(this.getClass().getName(),"Exception 124"+ex,1);
    System.out.println("Exception 124 "+ex);
    Thanks.

  • Specify an input file using Windows Explorer

    Hi, I'm very new to Orchestrator.
    Instead of writing stand-alone PowerShell scripts to perform tasks against an input file, I would like to use Orchestrator, thus avoiding the need to write the code.
    Is there a way to specify an input file using Windows Explorer via Orchestrator?  When invoked, I would like my Runbook to open up Windows Explorer, where I could navigate to my input file, then press OK and have my automated processes run.  Do
    I need to look beyond Orchestrator, say towards Service Manager, or is this natively available in Orchestrator?
    Thanks,
    Nick.

    Hi,
    there are several Ways.
    you can use the SCO Webconsole, to start a Runbook and put in a Porpertie.
    you can use SCSM with SMPortal to define the File
    or you can use the free EUPSCO Portal, to build a Webfrontend for SCO
