Open a movie in a frame i wan't

the only part i now is this
on (release) {
geturl("..\\Menu\\menu.swf")
i wanto to open this movie in frame 30 (for exemple)
is missing rest some body can help me

If you are going to use the getURL() function then you might
use this also:
in the calling movie add this to your getURL call:
getURL("..\\Menu\\menu.swf?fnum=30");
then in the first frame of your menu.swf movie insert the
following:
var fnum:String;
Then after you are sure the menu.swf movie has completely
loaded (like after you preloader or something) add this code:
gotoAndPlay(Number(fnum));
The ?fnum=30 part of the getURL string will automatically
populate the fnum variable in menu.swf with the value of "30" or
whatever value you pass. This will allow you to jump to a specific
frame when loading a movie using getURL.

No. iTunes Playback for movies is real rudamentary. If you want finer control - open the movie in QuickTime. Hope that helps.

First, I would recommend repairing the hard drive with Disk Utility.
If that doesn't fix the problem, there's a very dangerous command you can execute in the Terminal.  This is very hazardous, because a simple typo can result in very drastic consequences.  I have seen people erase their entire hard drive by putting a space in the wrong place!  So, please follow the directions I'm going to give you very carefully!
Open the Terminal, which is found in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder.  In the Terminal, enter the following:
    sudo rm -f
Make sure to put a space after the "-f"!  Then, drag the troublesome file from the Finder and drop it on the Terminal window.  That should insert the path to the file in the command.  Then go back to the Terminal and press return.  You will be asked for your password, and when you type it, nothing will be shown as a security measure.  Press return again after entering your password.  The file should be deleted.

    Help!
    Thanks, Mark

Unfortunately, the error message gives no details about what codec might be missing or what it needs.
If the file can't be opened in QT, it only means you cannot use the QT "Inspector" window to check what compression formats were used to create the file. It does not mean you can't use the Finder "Information" window to check on the compression formats or use a third party media information window (e.g., like VLC which will open many compression formats not supported natively by QT) to determine what kind of data is included in the MOV wrapper. If the file cannot be opened in any app, it is usually a good sign that the file itself is corrupted.
It's a stupid error message. Apple should do better than that.
Error trapping is quite extensive but there are still many areas which require human oversight. The message is telling you that either the container has a problem (e.g., not properly terminated, non-standard, or corrupted) or that one or more of the compression formats used is not supported by your current codec component configuration or that the data was encoded using non-standard settings or preferences not supported by QT or that the fourCC code does not match the data contained in the file or that there are timecode inconsistencies, etc., etc., etc. In short there are a near infinite number of possible problems for which it would be very difficult/nearly impossible to program error trapping depending on your sourcing of content and how you process it before it reaches the player app. Think of it like trying to play a BD disc in an DVD player.
I'll call Apple support when I get a chance.
Chances are good that they will end up sending you back here. In any case, it is often a good idea to post a sample file for examination by other QT users. At the very least, they should be able to tell you if the sample file will play on other systems which would indicate whether or not the file itself is bad and under the best of circumstances whould allow them to examing the file in detail for various common problems.

I found my answer in another Thread and it worked... so for anyone who needs it, here it is:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/19134562#19134562
Had the same problem and spoke with Apple Support. They had me reset the System Management Controller:
Shut down the computer. With the computer off, on the left hand side of the keyboard press shift+control+option along with the power button simultaneously and release. Wait 5-10 seconds and restart the computer.
This solved my problem and I was immediately able to purchase, download, and play an HD movie from iTunes w/o any error message.

  • Quicktime for Windows -- on Vista -- opens a .mov movie once, then won't open the move and Quicktime won't even open itself.  I've installed the latest version, and upgraded it to Plus as well.

I am having trouble opening .mov videos with Quicktime on my PC with Vista.  I installed the latest version of Quicktime for Windows (V.7.7), and upgraded it to Pro.  It will open a .mov file once, then after that it will not open any .mov file and in fact, when I try to open the Quicktime player it will not open itself.  If I switch users to Admin, it all works fine, but when I go back to my regular role (where all of my preferences and programs are there for me to use), the same thing happens.  An .mov file will open once, then never again, and the Quicktime player seems to be disabled.
I've tried different .mov files, so it's not a corrupt file that's the problem.  And, in the past (a couple of Quicktime versions ago, I guess), all of this worked just fine.
Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated!

I have the exact same problem. They play on my Mac under Snow Leopard. Transfer to Vista gets a window with black and white and some other noise. No sound either.

  • Open two movies at the same time

It seems that it is not possible to open two movies (.cp) at
the same time with Captivate 1 (well you can run a new Captivate
program an open the second movie) but will it be possible to open
more than one movie at the same time in Captivate 2?
    Thanks

    Hello hydrosound,
Whilst you cannot open two Captivate movies in the same
instance of Macromedia Captivate, you can get around this by simply
loading another copy of Captivate. I do this all the time and open
the second project file that way.

I recently purchased an external hard drive to back up my iMovies. When I try to open the movies on the backup I get a message "you may not have permission to modify that folder" How do I change permissions on the backup?

    Hi
One Must NEVER move or alter any folders named
    • iMovie Event's - or -
    • iMovie Projects - or - alike
on DESKTOP/FINDER - Ever ! - ONLY Within the iMovie Program ! else all connections are broken and hard to impossibly to mend !
but rather do as described here under
    Moving Event's and Project's
Connection - Either connect one Mac in Target mode to the other via FireWire. Or use an external hard disk !
(Target-Mode - Start one Mac e.g. laptop - BUT keep T-key down during full up-start - Now a FW-symbol is jumping around the screen and it will work as an external hard disk when connected to the other Mac)
    A. The External Hard Disk - MUST BE - Mac OS Extended (hfs) formatted to work for Video. UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange works for most other things but not for Video whatever program is used (iMovie or FinalCut)
    B. Should be a FireWire one as USB/USB2 performs badly to me and especially when filling up
    C. Do never Move or Alter any folder named
    • iMovie Event's - or -
    • iMovie Project's
on DeskTop/Finder - as this will result in iMovie losing connections to them and repair can be anything from hard to impossibly
    D. Moving and Copying must be done within iMovie application and Events to Events - and - Project's to Project's.
    E. Moving Project's to Event's - Do not work for me - I have to export project as a QuickTime movie then Import this into Events.
Event's window can show two faces
    Like this
    or like this
from one hard disk Event - You can move it to the other hard disk
You can not (at least not me) move Event to Project or other way around only
Event to Event and Project to Project
    Yours Bengt W

  • Applet navigator to open a page in another frame.

Hello to the Java gurus out there,
I was wondering if someone could give me a pointer as to how I can get an applet navigator to open a page in another frame of the web browser?
Say for example, I have two frames in the main HTML page where one frame contains an Applet navigator, and the other page can be loaded based on where the user clicks on the applet navigator.
Capturing the mouse click event is all good, but then how do I load a page in another frame ??
Any help would be much appreciated.
    J. Park

In your applet class do the following
    getAppletContext().showDocument(new URL("somepage"), "Target");
See the AppletContext class in http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/api/index.html for more information.

  • Safari Does Not Open QT Movie (.mov)

    Using: Safari Version 3.2.1 (5525.27.1)
    QT Player 7.6.2
    OS X 10.5.6
    1. From a web page, I click on a QT movie link named movie.mov.
A web page opens with the QT icon only but no movie plays.
    2. Pasting the URL from the web page into QT Player yields no movie.
Movie inspector indicates that there is zero bytes in movie.
    3. Control clicking the .mov movie link from the web page, and
Downloading the movie results in a 60 KB file. Which is then
    successfully opened in QT Player.
Questions: Can someone explain why Safari will not open the movie?
Also, why will QT Player not open the movie from the URL?
    All input is welcomed.
    bob

    Hi QuicktimeKirk,
    1. Sloppy page code (proven by your question 3).
Yes, Hawaiian_Starman has mentioned that as a possibility.
I've received a response from my instructor; he states:
"It sounds like a setting in your browser.  Perhaps you don't have the right plugin for your browser or QuickTime is not set as the default plugin to view .mov files."
However, I have the QT 7.6.2 plugin.
    2. QuickTime can open dozens of file formats but pasting a URL to a "page" (text file) isn't one of them.
Perhaps that is what he has done; however, why can I Control-click the link and "Download Linked File"; double click the downloaded movie.mov file which opens in QT Player, and view this 60 KB file of a man speaking "This is my movie." NOTE: It was my error in an earlier post to state that it was only a TEXT message in the movie.mov file.
"Copy" the direct link to the blah.mov file found in the Web page.
Open QuickTime Player, Command-U (Open URL) and paste the link in the dialog window. QuickTime Player will take care of the rest.
I've done this; see 2.) in my original thread. To be certain, I followed your advice above and Control-clicked the link to "Copy Link"; opened QT Player, pressed Command-U and the "Movie URL:" text box already contained the URL. Pressing "OK" opened a QT player but there was only zero KB.
To summarize and clarify my actions, I have done three things in order to open the LINK to the MOVIE.MOV file:
    1. Clicked on the link, resulting in a QT icon only on the web page.
    2. Control-clicked the link and selected "Copy Link", resulting in a zero KB file in QT Player.
    3. Control-clicked the link and selected "Download Linked File", resulting in a 60KB movie.mov.
    bob
P.S. I do not understand HTML; but if that would help, here is the SOURCE surrounding the text "*View Quicktime Video*" which is the link I have been clicking on to arrive at the movie.mov file.
Oops, I do not know how to enter HTML in this discussion so you can ONLY view the HTML structure.

  • How can I open a .mov file with iMovie?

    Hi,
I keep trying to open a .mov file in iMovie and it isn't doing it. Is that not a recognized file extension? Should I convert the video file somehow?
    Thanks!

.mov is just a container for a variety of video codecs, some of which are not recognized by iMovie.  You will need to convert it first with a third party app such as Media Converter (which is free, see:   http://media-converter.sourceforge.net).
Another free app  VideoSpec (see:  http://videospec.free.fr) is useful for identifying all the details of a video clip
