Open embedded swf in a screen annotation
With this form button code :
var myURLClip = "http://www.example.com/file.swf";
args = {
URL: myURLClip,
mimeType: "application/x-shockwave-flash",
doc: this,
settings:
players: app.media.getPlayers("application/x-shockwave-flash"),
windowType: app.media.windowType.floating,
floating: { height: 620, width: 960 }
app.media.openPlayer(args)
I can open an online swf in my pdf document.
Is it possibile to make the same thing embedding the swf file in the acrobat file?
How do I have to change the code?
I read something about "Rendition", but I can't find anything in my Acrobat XI.
Thanks!
Then, what is the correct approach?
I try to use Tools > Content > Multimedia > SWF, but I don't like the default floating window position and skin and I can't set it.

Opening flash .swf and constraining it to it's original size rather than full-screen
When I open a flash object (.swf) from my desktop to test it, it opens full screen. I would like to constrain it so that it opens to the size it was created, e.g., 800 x 600.
If you open an SWF link directly in a browser tab then you always get the dimensions of that tab. You either have to open the link in a new window and resize it or use the above mentioned bookmarklet code with a keyword and the url as the parameter to replace the %S. Bookmarklet code like that is very handy as you can also use it if Firefox insists in downloading a file (image) and you want to open it in a tab. Of course you need to supply the correct MIME type in that case.

Opening a .SWF in Internet Explorer as Default
I have a situation in which I have a .swf file. I want the
end users to view the .swf file and not the HTML file because the
.swf can be resized. I have gone into the properties of the .swf
file and set the "Opens With" default to Internet Explorer and then
clicked OK. On my machine it opens just fine in IE right away. The
problem lies when others in my department go to view it and it
opens the "Open With" dialog box for them to select a program. Many
more people will be viewing this, and not all of them are computer
savey, thus not knowing what program to use or why it is asking
them. I would have them use the Flash Player but for some reason
they don't have that. I know for a fact that everyone will have IE.
Question:
Is there another way to have IE be the default program to
open the .swf file?
Is there an actionscript in flash to do this?
Is there another way to view a .swf file so it can be
enlarged the size of the screen?
Any Ideas, suggestions, comments are greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,

How to open a .SWF in the same window (similar to online photo galleries)?
I have a .swf I want my users to be able to open, but without
opening a new window.
I'm sure you all have seen this effect. In a photo gallery,
the user clicks a thumbnail, the screen darkens, a white box
resizes to the size of the larger image and the full-size image
loads...all without opening a new window. I'd like to do the same
with a .swf. Does anyone know how this is done or could you point
me to a good tutorial? Thanks.Are you wanting to open your .swf from an HTML page:

Need help with embedded SWF Playing
I have an embedded SWF file (A 4 photo slide show) created in Flash Professional CS5, Action script 3, flash player 10 selected.
I have placed this into the flash catalyst CS5 file. The file previews in the browser perfectly.
The problem is when published it will not start the slideshow until you refresh the browser (Safari and FireFox) the local version runs fine
the published version does not even when uploaded to the web server. www.ngambaisland.com
This site was woking properly before I made some changes to the slide show and rebuilt the file to optimize it for loading performance.
Please help if you can,
Many Thanks,
CurtisThanks for looking but I have tested the website on 5 different computers an the slide show only activates after you hit the screen refresh button.
I am afraid I am a bit limited in flash. You mentioned to check access settings. I used the default action script 3 settings in the publish settings.
Could you please be more descriptive as what to look for or what settings I would need to change?
Thanks for your help.

Why does embeded .swf file goes crazy in IE but not in other browsers?
hi everyone
I'm building a SharePoint page with an embedded .swf file that is capable of detecting the current URL to activate and show content. Everything goes smoothly in all the browsers I've tested it except IE. When I open the SharePoint page in IE the .swf just reproduces the frames non stop, It completely ignores my scripts and I cant find anything that could be responsible of this. besides the url detection script, i just have simple button configuration for the timeline and general stops.
any idea?.....anyone?Normally when swf's play differently for different browsers it is due to the embedding code used in the html page.

Embedded swf not playing in Captivate 4
Hi - I have embedded a flash authored swf into CP4, it is published from flash as a ver 9 swf. I am using Flash Player 10 on the PC. It's a single frame swf and contains AS3 code to make a simple rollover image popup (further development is planned but just testing for now). It works when viewed standalone in a browser or with the flash player
In CP4 when played by either previewing it or by publishing and viewing in a browser, the screen with that swf on it is a 'white screen of death'. I have tried the following:
1. clicking and unclicking synchronise with project
2. click and unclick externalize animations check box in prefs - the swf file was also manually copied over to the publish directory
3. set display for "duration of animation"..also tried 'rest of slide' and 'specific time'
4. click and unclick - 'synchronise with project'
5. Set Actionscript Version in prefs to "AS3"
6. I placed another different swf (flash ver9) onto the following slide in CP4 - this one with no Actionscript content at all - just a simple timeline based motion tween. It works!
Does anyone know if CP4 cannot accept embedded swf's with Actionscript 3 code in them?Hi there
Oftentimes the warning about referencing Root is simply a nuisance and may be totally ignored.
I find that the animation works here on my own PC if I click Edit > Preferences... > Project node > Publish Settings node and configure for AS3.
Perhaps try that?
Cheers... Rick

Possible to make embedded swf (in another swf) fill browser?
I have an .swf which is set at 100x100 percent and fills the
browser window. I have an embedded .swf within this .swf, and I
would like to be able to have the embedded .swf fill the browser
window and remain fluid (for different screen resolutions). This
has to be done from the embedded .swf.
I thought if I could retrieve the stage details of the parent
.swf from within the embedded .swf, then I could use these to
resize the embedded .swf - but I haven't been able to do this.
I'm plum out of ideas. Can anybody give me any pointers?
Many thanks.I may have my terminology mixed up. I have a pre-compiled
.swf that allows embedding of .swf's from a seperate .xml file via
a LocalConnection API. -
The embeded swf doesn't play...
Hi
I'm trying to embed a swf that was created with a flash gallery making program into a pdf file but it just never works properly. I've also tried converting it into pdf but that doesn't work either. Once I convert it/embed it all I see is a white/black square. However if I embed other smaller swfs most of them just work fine. Could the problem be that the swf is too large? Can anybody please figure out the problem? I've been trying everything for the past 3 days and I'm awfully desperate Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated!Acrobat and OS make no difference, but the version of Flash Player that the gallery targets will make a difference - Acrobat and Adobe Reader currently won't play content designed for Flash Player 11.
The other problem can arise when the gallery is using external assets (image files, XML configuration files, etc.) as these must be available after embedding. You should attach them using the Resources tab on the Rich Media Annotation dialog box (right-click your embedded SWF in Acrobat and choose Properties), but if the gallery is written to expect certain folder structures it may not like being sandboxed inside a PDF file. -
I want to open an html file into the same browser window from an already embedded swf file in an html file. I have tried
navigateToURL(new URLRequest("myhtml.html"),"_parent");
navigateToURL(new URLRequest("myhtml.html"),"_root");
navigateToURL(new URLRequest("myhtml.html"));
I still get the html file loaded into a blank window and so I have umpteen windows open after a short amount of time.use:
navigateToURL(new URLRequest("myhtml.html"),"_self"); -
Opening a swf file at a particular scene
I'm creating an interactive will have a button that I want to
open another swf file at a particular scene. Specifically, I want
to have 2 parallel files that have multiple scenes - I want to be
able to go to that same scene from the other file and back using a
button.
Any direction would be much appreciated!I open image in CC 2014 in floating windows and find Photoshop floating windows are all about the same size depend on the image zide. So different RAW sensor pixel counts open at different zoom percent windows are around the same size for my 4, 5, 8 and 16 MP raw images. You could also set up a script open document event handler to use menu View fit on screen to increase the floating window size. Without doing anything my 16MP image open at 25% zoom. 8mp image open at 33.3% zoom. 4MP open at 50% zoom and 5MP at 33.3% window is smaller then the others the 50% zoom on the 4MP the largest the 8MP and 16MP about the same size 16MP a little larger the th 8mp different zoom.
I have see other write about having your issue. If it bothers you look at Photoshop Script event manager. Menu File>Scripts>Script Event manager -
WAD: Problems when exporting to PDF with embedded .swf
I'm using Web Application Designer (WAD) 7 and have created a template with an "Export to PDF" button and an embedded .swf flash file which is an Xcelsius dashboard.
What i'm trying to do is show the information I want on my dashboard and then export that to a PDF to email out to multiple users who would be interested in the data each month. If exporting to PDF isn't the best route to get a snapshot of this dashboard out to other users and there's an easier way please let me know, but here are the issues i'm having:
1) When I have the dashboard showing the information I want and click the "Export to PDF" button, the dashboard reloads as the PDF settings window pops up and gets reset back to it's initial state.
2) If I ignore problem #1 and click on 'OK' in the Export dialog anyway after selecting PDF settings, my Adobe Reader pops up but then shows a message saying "The file cannot be opened because it has no pages". Basically it doesn't see the .swf as being a component to take a snapshot of and print on a PDF. I did try adding a text component just so there was something on the template and I then get a PDF with that text component showing and no .swf snapshot.
Has anyone come up with a workaround for this? I've tried using the BEx Broadcaster with the 'Send' option but get the same results in regards to the blank page.
Thanks as always for the help!Thanks for the reply.
The dashboard is connected to a query in NetWeaver BI to get its data. So the request of the user is to be able to adjust the dashboard to show the information they need (well say of a certain region) and then take a snapshot of that and email it out to co-workers in Group A. Then the user will adjust the dashboard to show other data (for a different region we'll say) and take a snapshot to email out to co-workers in Group B. etc and etc.
I have looked into installing a PDFCreator print driver but that wouldn't be feasible to get it on all machines in the business. I've also looked into getting it as a .jpeg which would suffice, but am unsure if there is a way to do it with script and connect that to the dashboard when a button is pushed (will look into this). This seems like a topic for over in the Xcelsius forum now.
I used the following code within the <body></body> tags of the WAD's xhtml to embed the .swf:
<object id="dashboard" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0" height="600" width="800" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" >
<param name="Movie" value="bwmimerep:///sap/bw/mime/Customer/JavaScript/dashboard.swf" />
<embed src="bwmimerep:///sap/bw/mime/Customer/JavaScript/dashboard.swf" name="dashboard" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" />

Embedded SWFs not working with Flash 9
Hello,
I am also plagued with the Flash Player 9 issue. None of my
embedded SWF files work if I publish with this version of the
player installed. I ran the uninstaller and I'm now using version
8. However, each time I open a PPT file I get an error saying "some
controls on this presentation can't be activated. they might not be
registered on this computer". This is very irritating. So, my SWFs
still don't work. I found that if I register the v9 ocx and
re-insert the SWFs, they will publish properly (while the Player 8
is installed). However, I have about 50 existing PPTs with anywhere
from 10-30 SWFs per presentation. I'd like to avoid this method if
possible. Does anyone know of an easier solution? Thank you.good morning DocDVM and Supermercado Gato,
I have the same issue with embedding SWF files into Breeze. I
have been doing some searching the last two weeks and i found an
tech note that you might want to read. It seems that Breeze is not
really set up for Flash player 9 so Adobe came up with a work
around. Read the technote.
http://www.adobe.com/go/f9204eb8
I am having my IT Department update Breeze for me so i will
let you know if it works or if you update your Breeze let me know
if this fixes the issue. -
Crash to desktop when loading embedded swf
I have a swf that loads two other embedded swfs. The need for an air native extension came up so I've wrapped this swf inside of an AIR app. I install my app as a native installer. (on Windows 7)
My app has a main menu screen and two buttons that will load two separate swfs to do their own menus and actions.
Everything has worked great, until I tried to install the AIR app on a computer without internet. I ran the air redistributable, then installed my app. The main menu runs fine, and the main swf can load one of the embedded swfs, but when it tries to load the second embedded swf it crashes to desktop. No warnings, no errors, I just see desktop after clicking a button.
Here is how I'm loading the offending swf:
Inside MM_DocumentClass.as
[Embed(source="../../ContentViewer/bin/ContentViewer.swf")]
public var CViewSwfClass:Class;
public var CViewMC:MovieClip;
Inside MMState_MainMenu.as
//Load the CView.swf, and add the listener for when it's done loading.
public function CView_BtnClick(e:Event)
Globals.stage.removeEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, Globals.keyPressHandler);
menuMC.removeEventListener("Animation_Complete", CView_BtnClick);
trace(this + "******************************************************");
trace(this + "Loading ContentView.swf");
mStateManager.Container.CViewMC = new mStateManager.Container.CViewSwfClass();
mStateManager.Container.CViewMC.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onCviewLoad);
mStateManager.ChangeState(new MMState_Empty());
//Called when CView.swf is done loading
private function onCviewLoad(e:Event)
trace(this + "Cview Loaded");
mStateManager.Container.addChild(mStateManager.Container.CViewMC);
I load the other swf in the exact same way.
This problem can be fixed by connecting the computer to internet and trying to run the same actions. The program will pause for a second, during this time I see a visible loading icon in the middle of the screen, then it successfully loads the swf and everything works fine.
My problem is that I can't guarantee our clients will have internet at all, so I need a solution to install AIR without internet and include whatever it is that my app needs to run.
Any ideas? 'Cause this one's had me stumped for quite awhile.Does this happen whith every subVI or just on particular one? Also, what version of LV and OS?
