Open File dialog box pops up even when file type is supposed to automatically open

Even though I have selected "Do this automatically for files like this" the dialog still pops up when I click on that file type.
Thanks

An automatically download action is tied to a specific MIME type that the server send via the HTTP response headers and not to the file extension.<br />
So it is possible that you have created this action for a different (or generic) file type.

    Hi
    Thanks for your prompt response on this.
    I came across a Sample Form File which would allow the User to browse through files from local PC.
    Following is the code :
    declare
    dirname varchar2(255);
    v_filename varchar2(255);
    begin
         message('1');
    tool_env.getvar('E:\', dirname);
    message('2');
    dirname := dirname || '\project';
    message('3');
    v_filename := get_file_name(dirname,NULL,
    'All Files (*.*)|*.*|' ||
    'JPEG Files (*.jpg)|*.jpg|' ||
    'Bitmap Files (*.bmp)|*.bmp|' ||
    'TIFF Files (*.tif)|*.tif|' ||
    'CompuServe Files (*.gif)|*.gif|' ||
    'PC Paintbrush Files (*.pcx)|*.pcx|' );
    message('4');
    if v_filename is not null then
    read_image_file(v_filename,'ANY','pp_foto.foto');
    end if;
    end;
    The code is written inside WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED Trigger.
    When i run the form it is not opening the dialog box.
    Please help.

  • HT3258 I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion OS 10.8.3. After that, I've had innumerable problems with email & none of the documents in Word are openable - a dialog box pops up saying that no Power PC applications are available, or something to that effect

    I will re-enter my question: I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion OS 10.8.3. Since then I've had difficulty accessing my Verizon email. Also, all of my Word documents are no longer openable. I get a dialog box that says Power PC apps are no longer supported. Have any of you experienced this & if so, have you just had to "bite the bullet" & start re-doing your docs in Page?

    Office 2004 is not compatible with Lion or Mountain Lion because they don't include the Rosetta software that allowed PPC apps to run on Intel hardware.
    Office 2008 was the first version of Office designed to run natively on Intel chips.
    Office 2011 is the current version.
    You can update to Office 2011, Office 2004 was introduced 9 years ago. You can use other 3rd party softwares, i.e., iWorks, Office Libre, etc., that are capable of handling Office documents.
    Or, you can revert back to Snow Leopard.
    All in all, this topic has been covered in these forums almost every day since Lion was introduced 2 years ago.
    Please search the forums for more info.

  • When Firefox is opened a download file dialog box pops up

    When I open Firefox, a download file prompt appears for a file that I previously downloaded. I'm using Windows 8 x64 on a brand new laptop. (Not the computer I'm posting from)
    I've tried the following:
    Set Firefox to use the default homepage. There are no secondary pages.
    Set the default homepage back to default. (The default homepage does come up)
    Tried launching Firefox directly from c:\program files (x86)\mozilla\Firefox.
    Clearing the downloads list.
    Deleting all files in the Downloads folder.
    Searching the HKLM\software\mozilla registry key for the filename.
    Searching the about:config section for the filename.
    Deleting the app data folder from app data\local.

    Try clearing the Download History.

  • I am attempting to open Firefox and I have a dialog box pop up that says: "A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time." How do I close this "copy"?

    I had shut down my computer, and when I started it up this is the message I received when attempting to open Firefox.

    Cor-el, this is the same problem you responded to, and I said the uninstall is not possible for the same reason. I will check the Profil_in_use article, but I think I already have done all it suggests, and without success. If you solve this we change your name from Cor-el to Jor-el (Superman's father, of course)

  • File dialog box slow in Mavericks

    Running 10.9.2
    Any application that tries to open the Finder file dialog box stops responding for 20-60 seconds and then recovers and opens the file dialog box. Automator, Mail, Preview, etc. all show this behavior.
    I've tried the suggestion to modify the auto_master file, no help.
    I've reloaded Mavericks, which fixed the problem for a few minutes, then it came back.
    It's killing my productivity. Any thoughts?

    Thanks.
    This you have already mentioned in your first post... now my question is how you've actually figured it out... or can you share your code here???

  • Open/Save Dialog Box SLOW

    My Mac has slowed down to an absolute crawl. I have reinstalled the OS, run Disk Warrior, Disk Utility, removed my preferences folder to see if something in there was actin' up, I've repaired the permissions, etc... Yet in any application (whether it's Photoshop CS 2, Safari, TextEdit, doesn't matter), if I hit "open" from within that application... no exaggeration... it can take anywhere between 45 seconds to a little over a minute for the dialog box to finally appear!
    The last thing I want to do is nuke my machine. I am so tired of that being the solution whenever something can't be fixed.
    Has anyone run into this? Does anyone have any ideas what to do to fix this problem without nuking the machine?
    (this hasn't been a problem at all until, maybe 3 months ago or so... and I've been running Tiger since it was released)

    Holy cow. I am in complete shock.
    ...got up this morning, saw the suggestion 'bout the iDisk, figured I'd give it a try...
    That was it!!! I've had a .mac account for years, have had my iDisk on my desktop for as long as I can remember. I wonder if something from software update somehow made my machine and the iDisk go "screwy" 'cause it started getting excruciatingly bad just a few months ago.
    Thank you, thank you!! My machine has received a gigantic speed boost across the board, and the open/save dialog boxes now appear instantly when I call upon them, all my apps quit instantly now too. This is amazing! [breathes huge sigh of relief]

  • Event handling in file dialog box

    I want to make the test bed for testing event-based stand alone application.
    I can transfer some values to filename or others.
    However, How can I handle (Value signaling) the Okay or Cancel button in file dialog box popped up from my test bed?
    What is the reference for the dialog box?
    Of course, I can transfer the file name explicitly but don't want to change current application.
    Labmaster.

    Are you talking about the file dialog express vi? The vi returns a boolean for canceled. It will also return error 43 which is normal for canceled by user. You can not register an event on the express vi. Just look at the outputs and generate a user event based on that. Look at the example finder for user defined events as Gak pointed out.

  • How to add list of multiple file types to file type of file dialog box in LabVIEW

    How to add list of multiple file types to file type of file dialog box in LabVIEW?
    In file dialog box there is option to add only one file type,in the list,not by seperating commas,
    regards,
    Naresh.N

    Write the file types in pattern Input string, separated by a semicolon ;
    For example:  *.vi;*.doc;*.jpeg;*.xls
    This should return the set of files with matching extensions

  • When I hit the escape key to close out the open file dialog box, firefox hangs or crashes.

    When I open the "open file" dialog box using the ctrl+O and then hit the escape key to exit the box, I get an error message which I'm not able to paste here.
    it says something about a runtime problem and if I try the same thing again to reproduce the problem, it will sometimes just hang and windows vista will tell me the program is not responding.
    I've checked to see if there are any crash IDs but none were found for this time frame.
    I have even disabled all add ons.
    I'm currently using vista 64 bit edition and Firefox 6, beta edition.

    Hi,
    Please also try right-clicking on the link corresponding to the language version and '''Save Target As''' to save the Firefox installer. If the problem persists, posting [http://answers.microsoft.com/ here] would also be helpful.

    when I open up an e-mail attachment a box pops up PRINT TO FILE below that line OUTPUT FILE NAME with an empty line for the file name vs. simply going to my default printer?

    Make sure that '''''Print to File''''' isn't selected in the native print dialog box ''(see screenshot below)'' middle-right, and make sure your Printer is selected at the top of that dialog box.
    ''I'm a little confused why an email attachment would need to go directly to the printer, but that's what you asked about.''

  • 'Open a File' dialog box doesn't show 'Favorites'

    InDesign CS6, Windows 7:
    File/Open gives me this:
    Notice there are no 'Favorites' on the left.  I have to 'browse' for my file each time.  I have a ton of files on the network, and it takes several clicks to get to them.  Annoying when I'm opening several files a day.  The 'Recent Places' isn't too helpful here either.
    Now look at what happens in InDesign CC, Windows 7 with a File/Open:
    Look at all the 'Favorites' and easy browsing on the left side.  Why are the 'Open a File' dialog boxes so different in CS6 and CC?  I want the CS6 'Open' dialog to be just like the CC one.  (I prefer to use CS6, CC is buggy on my system.)

    Not helpful.
    What it is... is cumbersome and un-necessary.  Every other program in Windows  (even Word Pad) opens with the 'standard'  dialog with Favorites on the left.  Why did Adobe program it differently?  There has to be a fix in Preferences or something...

  • Opening a File Dialog Box

    Hi,
    could somebody help me with how to open a file dialog box.
    I have 1 class which has a window with the relevant widgets on it, I want to be able to click a button on the form and pop up a file chooser form then select a file or type in a new filename and then use the selected filename path in the original form to write data out to the chosen file.
    i understand that i need to use JFileChooser and it will need to be in a new class (like a dialog box would be).
    So basically what i have is 2 classes (the main app and a class called FileOpen.class) so how would i display the fileopen class with the JFileChooser component in it and return what ever is chosen into a string.
    e.g.
    String fileName = <what would go here?>
    kind regards

    thats the example filechooser i have working
    yet when i try and implement it in my program i just get countless exception errors, im not sure if its because my program extends Jframe and not JPanel
    here is my code:-

    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.border.*;

  • Why does (the object "move" is currently not availible) dialoge box pop up when I run action script?

    when I run actions in CS6 it does nothing close to what Ive recorded , "move" dosnt work, "reflect" dosnt work  ,"copy" dosnt work ? and when I record simple moves it places shapes in compleately different areas then where I recorded them Ive try'd breaking the set up into the smallist possible actions ,with function keys and without . Ive try'd reconfigureing all types of presets in all sorts of combo's its driveing me nuts can anyone esplain ?!?!?

    my first command is "open" and it opens my file  my second command is copy and the first dialog box opens and states that ( the object "copy" is not currently available ) and as long as its still in the clipboard from building the action after i hit continue it pastes the two objects it said the copy wasn't currently available for ...if the clip board is loaded with other stuf two of those pop up instead, next command is rectangle tool witch seems to work but where I record it is not where it shows up when i play back its in different areas everytime time i play back ,then the next command is shapemodes "crop" function witch cropped ounce then not but left the object i was cropping in lines view instead of pixel preview and rite now it just has the rectangles i made appear with solid white and a black stroke but when i recorded my little rectangles were clear with a small black stroke they're also way off to the side on playback ,then the second dialog box pops up and tells me that the object  (?)"reflect" is also currently unavailable but it doesn't matter because they're white anyway's ..... any ways it goes on like that ,I have plenty of time between moves to let the program think....
