Open Hub Data Separators

Hi All,
Can we use any other character other than , and  ; as data separators in Open Hub when generating a flat file? Can we use { as data separator?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
You can use symbol character in the open hub separator. You need to know the ascii value of that symbol. Then press Alt key and enter the 3 digit numberical value for that symbol.
I.e. alt + 123 becomes : {
You can refer the link for your reference of deceimal value of the character.

Thanks,

  • Open Hub - Data from multiple sources to single target

    Hello,
I am using Open Hub to send the data from SAP BI to Flat files. I have a requirement where I want to create a single destination from multiple sources. In other words in BI we have different tables for attributes and text. I would like to combine the data from attributes  and text into a single file. For eg. I want to have material attributes and text in the same single file as output.
Is this possible in Open Hub? If yes could you please help me to understand the process.
    Thanks,
    KK

    Hi,
    1. Create the Info Spoke and activate it
    2. Change it and go to transformation
    3. Check the box InfoSpoke with Transf. Using BAdI
    4. You are asked if you want to generate the spoke. Say yes & Simply set some texts and activate here, then return.
    5. You can now change the target structure. Simply create a Z structure with all the attributs & text field in it in the SE11 and enter it here.
    6. Double click on BAdI implementation & then double click again on "TRANSFORM" method of the implementation. It will take you to method
    "IF_EX_OPENHUB_TRANSFORM~TRANSFORM"
    7. Write a code to select & fill the text field & map other filed with the attribute fields.
    Example:
    ZEMPLOYEE_ATTR_STRU - Target Structure for InfoSpoke EMPLOYEE_ATTR
    EMPLOYEE     /BI0/OIEMPLOYEE     NUMC     8     0     Employee
    DATETO     /BI0/OIDATETO     DATS     8     0     Valid to
    DATEFROM     /BI0/OIDATEFROM     DATS     8     0     Valid from
    COMP_CODE     /BI0/OICOMP_CODE     CHAR     4     0     Company code
CO_MST_AR     /BI0/OICO_MST_AR     CHAR     4     0     Controlling Area of Master Cost Center
    HRPOSITION     /BI0/OIHRPOSITION     NUMC     8     0     Position
    MAST_CCTR     /BI0/OIMAST_CCTR     CHAR     10     0     Master Cost Center
TXTMD     RSTXTMD     CHAR     40     0     Medium description
Note: Text and attribute are in same structure.

    Hi,
Can someone help me out. I use BODS version 14.1.1.210. I have setup the connection to BW source and imported metadata for my OpenHub - no problem.

not sure about it, but did you see this post some hours after yours?
DS 4.1 job aborts with Access Violation
Also, did you check ST22 to see if it generates any dump?
And if you're able to check the BODS log files, it might me helpful. They're located at %LINK_DIR%\log directory. Check the names with the execution of the job.
    Hope it helps!

  • Open Hub Using Multi Provider as Source

I want to use MultiProvider as source for Open Hub. Can anyone tell me the steps for this and is it really possible.
    Thanks & regards
    Manoj Damle

    hello,
BI objects such as InfoCubes, DataStore objects, or InfoObjects (attributes or texts) can function as open hub data sources. It is because they physically store data.
BUt multiprovider, infoset do not hold any data, hence not posible to define them as open hub datasources.

  • Open Hub External System

    Hi,
I have a basic requirement to extract data out of Open Hub into an external Oracle database. I have read previous threads online on this topic, but still have a couple of questions that are not clearly answered.
Firstly, my client complies with all licensing arrangements to use Open Hub.They do not want to use flat files and they do not have access to tools like the Microsoft Connector described in many online blogs.
Secondly, my client would like BW to kick off the process chain, load into an internal BW table, and then raise a trigger to the external Oracle database to come and "pull" the data from the newly created table. I am new to working with API's, but I read about standard API's been available to achieve this, but I would like some simple clarrification:
    - In my Process Chain, after I load the Open Hub data into the internal table, I want BW to use the API RSB_API_OHS_3RDPARTY_NOTIFY to tell the external system it's ready to pull the data. Reading the docu about this API, it seems like this needs to be initated from the external Oracle database. Is this correct (I would hope BW could do this) ? And if so, I dont know if my client has these API's on their Oracle system. How do I ensure they do ? I imagine they are freely available, but since I am not a DBA, and do not have access to someone who can tell me or not, I would like to know what the standard procedure for API communication is here. An example or white paper showing the API (with parameters) for a real life scenario would be ideal.
    - If the above does not work, even though they say the Microsoft connector tool can be used for Oracle, I am hesitant to use a Microsoft tool, when surely Oracle has their own free tool to do this - or can the Microsoft Connector integrate directly with an Oracle database ??????
    - When we refer to the term "Third Party Tool", does this mean a ETL tool like Informatica, or a connection tool like the Microsoft Connector, or the external database like the Oracle database in this example ?
Any clarrification with the above would be most appreciated. I do not have access to a BW system yet, so I would like to know some of the details before I propose a potential solution.
    Thanks,
    BWPerson

  • Open Hub destination in BI 7.0

I am trying to create an open hub destination to extract data from an mutiprovider to BPC, when I get the step where I need to assign the infocube to the open hub destination, I cannot find the mutiprovider from the drop down menu, is this means that open hub cannot use the mutiprovider as the data source?

  • Open Hub destinations

I am using open hub destinations to transfer the cube data into database tables in BI.During activation of open hub the database tables with names /BIC/OH* are created. I am facing problem with the reference fields associated with this table. It is taking the field name itself as the reference field for Quantity and currency fields.Suppose I have a field CRM_NETVAM in table, the reference field shown for that in table is CRM_NETVAM only. This is the problem, so it wo'nt allow us to activate the databse table and ulltimately will be cause of failure of the open hub functionality.
I need quick help for this and will give full points to anything which can help me out in solving this.

    Hello,
Open hub service is to distibute data from BI system to non SAP systems. In open hub service for data export from BI system to non SAP system the central object is Infospoke and within infospoke BI Objects acts as open hub data source  from which data is extracted in full and delta mode and flat files and database tables acts as open hub destinations basically the target system into which data is transferred and data can be transferred using Business Add In (BADI)

  • Hierarchy Extraction using Open hub Destination

    Hi,
I need to extract hierarchy data for Application code(YAPPLCD) using OHD. In the Hierarchy there are 4 components(Industry, Market, Application Group and Application Code). i need to get all the 3 details for the Application Code(i.e to which Indusrty does it belong, Market and Application Group). But HIerarchy table is having one record for each apllication code, Market, Application Group, Application code.
How to get relevant data for the application code?
    My file format should be:
    Appl.Code | Appl.Group | Market | Industry.

    Hi Suma...
The SAP Open Hub service enables you to distribute data from an SAP BI/BW system into external data marts, analytical applications, and other applications. With this, you can ensure controlled distribution using several systems. The central object for the export of data is the InfoSpoke. Using this, you can define the object from which the data comes and into which target it is transferred, leveraging SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) as the transfer/transform mechanism.
SAP BI objects such as InfoCubes, ODS objects, or InfoObjects can act as open hub data sources. You can select database tables or flat files as open hub destinations, and then use those destinations as actual sources within SSIS.  To automate the extraction using SAPu2019s Open Hub Service, youu2019ll need to setup a process chain. Note that both a full and delta modes are also available as the extraction mode.
As stated already with direct extraction from SAP R/3, once data is extracted out of SAP NetWeaver® BI (SAP BW), the destination of that data could be any relational database (such as SQL Server), and then reports (from SSRS) and multi-dimensional cubes (from SSAS) can be created from that database data.  The resulting SQL Server reports/cubes could then be used within the Microsoft Business Intelligence delivery mechanisms, such as through Excel, SharePoint, PerformancePoint, etc.

  • Open Hub Vs Infospoke

    Hi All,
In BW 7 We are using Open Hub & previously using Infospoke in BW 3.5. My question is in infospoke we have the flexibility of using BADI but in Open Hub we dont have that option. can we still use infospoke instead of Open HUB. Are there any advantages of open hub over infospoke.
    Thanks,
    Kiran.

    Hi,
The open hub service enables you to distribute data from an SAP BW system into external data marts, analytical applications, and other applications. With this, you can ensure controlled distribution using several systems. The central object for the export of data is the InfoSpoke. Using this, you can define the object from which the data comes and into which target it is transferred.
Through the open hub service, SAP BW becomes a hub of an enterprise data warehouse. The distribution of data becomes clear through central monitoring from the distribution status in the BW system.
    Functions
BW objects such as InfoCubes, ODS objects, or InfoObjects (attributes or texts) can act as open hub data sources. You can select database tables or flat files as open hub destinations. Both a full and a delta mode are also available as the extraction mode.
Components of the Open Hub Service
The open hub service is made up of the following objects:
    InfoSpoke
The central object for the data export is the InfoSpoke.
    The InfoSpoke defines the following:
u2022 The open hub data source from which the data is extracted
    u2022 The extraction mode
u2022 The open hub destination into which the data is delivered.
In addition, you can also select which data selection is to be extracted from which InfoProviders. This selection ensures that a destination for different points in time from the same InfoProvider can be supplied with data for different selection criteria using a delta. The selection set is freely configurable as long as extraction has not taken place in the delta mode. Once it has, this no longer applies.
    Open Hub Data Source
BW objects such as InfoCubes, ODS objects, MultiProviders and MultiProviders and InfoObjects (attributes or texts) can function as open hub data sources. If you use an InfoCube with non-cumulative key figures as a data source, refer to the note regarding the settings on the Selection tab page in Creating InfoSpokes.
    Extraction Mode
An InfoSpoke can extract data in two ways: in full mode (F) and in delta mode (D). See InfoSpoke Extraction Mode.
    Open Hub Destination
Database tables (from the database in the BW system) and flat files (CSV) can act as open hub destinations. See also Extraction to Database Tables and Extraction to Flat Files. You can extract the data from a database to a non-SAP system using APIs with a third-party tool. See also Extraction to Non-SAP Systems.
The open hub destination includes all information about a target system for the InfoProvider data: type of destination, name of the flat file or the database table. It also contains a logical target system. The logical target system is used to structure the individual open hub destinations in the open hub monitor. The open hub monitor groups the requests according to logical target system, open hub destination and InfoSpoke. By specifying a logical target system, you get a better overview of the individual open hub requests.

  • Open Hub: Using Infoset as the source.

I found SAP documentation indicating that an INFOSET can be used as a source to a OPEN HUB. See  below.
    Structure
The open hub destination contains all the information about a data target: the type of destination, the name of the flat file or database table and its properties, and the field list and its properties.
BI objects such as InfoCubes, DataStore objects, InfoObjects (attributes or texts), and InfoSets can function as open hub data sources. Note that DataSources may not be used as the source.
My question is When creating the Open Hub Destination in the Template section; What Object Type do I select for an INFOSET? I do not see an INFOSET as a choice.
We are BI 7.0 NewtWeaver 2004s.
Thanks for your assistance and expertise.

  • Open Hub: How-to doc "How to Extract data with Open Hub to a Logical File"

    Hi all,
We are using open hub to download transaction files from infocubes to application server, and would like to have filename which is dynamic based period and year, i.e. period and year of the transaction data to be downloaded.
I understand we could use logical file for this purpose.  However we are not sure how to have the period and year to be dynamically derived in filename.
I have read in sdn a number of posted messages on a similar topic and many have suggested a 'How-to' paper titled "How to Extract data with Open Hub to a Logical Filename".  However i could not seem to be able to get document from the link given.
Just wonder if anyone has the correct or latest link to the document, or would appreciate if you could share the document with all in sdn if you have a copy.
    Many thanks and best regards,
    Victoria

    Hi,
After creating open hub press F1 in Application server file name text box from the help window there u Click on Maintain 'Client independent file names and file paths'  then u will be taken to the Implementation guide screen > click on Cross client maintanance of file name > create a logical file path by clicking on new entiries > after creating logical file path now go to Logical file name definition there give your Logical file , name , physical file (ur file name followed by month or year what ever is applicable (press f1 for more info)) , data format (ASC) , application area (BW) and logical path (choose from F4 selection which u have created first), now goto Assignment of  physical path to logical path > give syntax group >physical path is the path u gave at logical file name definition.
however we have created a logical path file name to identify the file by sys date but ur requirement seems to be of dynamic date of tranaction data...may u can achieve this by creating a variable. U can see the help from F1 that would be of much help to u. All the above steps i have explained will help u create a dynamic logical file.
hope this helps u to some extent.

I have a couple of examples where some of the data in the CUBE is not being extracted by the OPEN HUB process.  I have checked the filter and it is setup properly.  I have manually validated the data in the CUBE.
It is very strange that the data is in the CUBE correctly, but just being extracted.
    Any ideas?

    Ashok,
This is the first time I have seen a comment about the field limitation.
+ A previous message from Deepak Simon states:
"I want to extract data from a cube with more than 16 fields."+
We are using BI 7.0...is that restriction still in place for this version?
    Thanks,
    Bill

  • Open HUB ( SAP BW ) to SAP HANA through DB Connection data loading , Delete data from table option is not working Please help any one from this forum

    Issue:
I have SAP BW system and SAP HANA System
SAP BW to SAP HANA connecting through a DB Connection (named HANA)
Whenever I created any Open Hub as Destination like DB Table with the help of DB Connection, table will be created at HANA Schema level ( L_F50800_D )
Executed the Open Hub service without checking DELETING Data from table option
Data loaded with 16 Records from BW to HANA same
Second time again executed from BW to HANA now 32 records came ( it is going to append )
Executed the Open Hub service with checking DELETING Data from table option
Now am getting short Dump DBIF_RSQL_TABLE_KNOWN getting
If checking in SAP BW system tio SAP BW system it is working fine ..

    Hi Ramanjaneyulu ,
First of all thanks for the reply ,
Here the issue is At OH level ( Definition Level - DESTINATION TAB and FIELD DEFINITION )
in that there is check box i have selected already that is what my issue even though selected also
not performing the deletion from target level .
SAP BW - to SAP HANA via DBC connection
    1. first time from BW suppose 16 records - Dtp Executed -loaded up to HANA - 16 same
    2. second time again executed from BW - now hana side appaended means 16+16 = 32
    3. so that i used to select the check box at OH level like Deleting data from table
    4. Now excuted the DTP it throws an Short Dump - DBIF_RSQL_TABLE_KNOWN
Now please tell me how to resolve this ? will this option is applicable for HANA mean to say like , deleting data from table option ...
    Thanks
