Open iView in Content Area

Hi,
I got requriement to open an iView in contenet area when user clicks on link at Masthead. The url of the link is coming thro iView properties. Clinet should have a feesibility to change the url.
I gone thro some threads saying that create an url iView and pass the pcd path as iview like
epcm.donavigate('pcd path',0)
I tried this way but no luck..anybody having experience on this please share your thoughts/suggestions.
thanks
Ian

You could also let your custom link in the masthead point to a "quicklink" then you do not have pass any url as parameter you just call as it is and you get what you need.
Do not forget to set the "target" property of the link tag to "_top"

  • Tree Navigation and Link  - Open iview in Content Area

    Hi,
this is maybe trivial, but I can't find anything about it right now:
I created an iview in Java that shows a custom tree in the detailed navigation area.
Now I have an iview ( a BW apps), that should be behind this link on the inner tree level, and, when clicked, should show up on the inner desktop.
What is the java code that needs to be put into the nav iview to do this? How do I identify the URL that is behind the BW apps that I need to call?

  • How to display related links iview in content area?

    Hi,
I have created Related links, but they are opening in a separate windows even though I have set the attribute of the iviews to "open in portal content area".
Please let me know how I can display the iviews of the Related links in the content area.
    -Ashwini.

    Hello Ashwini,
I don't think you have changed the property at the right place.
Open the iview for which related link is added. Now from the drop down box at the top right select Related Link. The related link editor will open which will show the related link iview. Select the iview and click the EDIT button at the bottom. The related link iview will open. Now Change the "Launch in new WIndow" property.
When you add an iview as reletd link to some other iview, a delta link is created and added to the iview.
    This will solve ur problem.

  • Showing an Iview in content area when exiting a function from ESS menu

    Hai Portal Guru's,
I have designed a role( USER_ROLE) With two Folder Home & Change Password. Both the folders are set as entry point.
    USER_ROLE
        Home
        Change Password
To the folder Home I added workset(ESS_Workset)  and to Change Password folder I have added Change password Iview.
    Home
       ESS_Workset.
To ESS_WORKSET i have added URL Iview and set the property as "Invisible In Navigation Area"  to Yes and "Open As Default" to Yes.  Then I added few SAP transaction Iviews.
When a user logs into portal, URL Iview is shown in the content area since I set "Invisible In Navigation Area"  "Open As Default" . When I open a SAP transaction Iview and exits that transaction content area is blank.  I want to show the URL Iview content whenever  a user exits from SAP transaction.
Please let me know how to do it.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • XML Form - Link open in Portal Content Area

I have created an XML form which displays a list of images as links to KM documents (eg a Read More... link).
The problem I have run into is that any link that you click on opens up in a new window.
Is there a setting somewhere that indicates that all links should be opened in the portal content area, rather than in a new window?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
    Kind Regards
    Rasim

    Rasim,
    You can try doing this.
    Logon to Portal.
Click Personalize option on the top left corner and choose work protect mode.
Choose "Discard unsaved data (open page in same window)"
    Save and Exit.
    Logoff and relogin and check.
    Hope this helps.

  • Inter-site navigation... link to open in the content area

Wanted to know how people are managing inter-site navigation. Suppose I have a set of links defined in the LHS area by using a HTML portlet. URLs on all these links are internal links which can be accessed as http://<hostname>:<port>/pls/portal/url/page/<pagegroup|page>.
Is it possible to define a portlet on the RHS i.e. content area where I can open these URLs ? Will the URL and/or Web Clipping help in any way ?
I can define the URLs on these links as
http://<hostname>:<port>/pls/portal/url/page/<pagegroup|page>?url=<page to show> and <pagegroup|page> is the page which holds the URL container. The URL container will be parameterized to bind to the url value.

Check out this posting from a while ago that gives a suggestion on how to accomplish this.

  • SRM iViews open in New Window instead of Portal Content Area

    Hi folks,
We are implementing SRM 7.0 business package on our Enterprise Portal 7. By default, all the SRM iViews open in a New Window. But, when I change the iViews to open in the Content Area, only the first iView that I try to open will open in the Content Area. All the remaining ones start opening in a new window with header. When reached out to SAP, they told me to disable the Work Proctect Mode. I tried that as well and still no luck. Please let me know if you guys have any idea how to make all the iViews open in the Content Area invariably. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Opening KM links in content area instead of new window?

    Hi,
We're having problems with the Resource Renderer option: Target Window Type which we - according to SAP's official documentation - need to set to self for KM links to open in the content area instead of popping up in a new window. However, this does not seem to work.
Tried looking through the already existing threads of the forum and there are several older threads concerning the issue but no solution (that I could find, anyway).
    Any suggestions? We're on 7.01, SP 6.
    Kind regards,
    Rasmus
A short update: The parameter actually works when setting it for the ressource renderer of one of SAP's standard layout-sets, for instance 'AdminExplorer', but it only works for layout-sets including both a tree view and a folder view navigation (and in this case only for the folder view navigation). I cannot seem to get it to work on simple lists! It seems that the Layout Controller defined on the layout-set has control over the "Target Window Type" parameter...
But I still need it for simple lists. HELP.
Edited by: Rasmus Røjkjær Ørtoft on Oct 15, 2010 4:38 PM

    Hi Rasmus
I haven't tried to develop a new layout controller, but as I recall the layout controller only controls the areas you divide your collections into. I don't think is has anything to do with the rendering of documents (and navigation). But perhaps the different areas of a layout controller can be referenced.
    I would investigate the following:
    1)
You could consider developing a property renderer (and reference that in the displayed properties of the collection renderer) that opens the document in the content window. If navigation is controlled by portal events, the back button in the browser will not work, thus disrupting the user experience.
    2)
Examine the AdminExplorer layoutset to see how it works, and see if the coding can be transferred to your need. You will need a developer for this task.
    Best regards,

  • Error opening iView from footer

I have implemented an anonymous portal:
    http://<host>:<port>/irj/portal/anonymous.
In my Light framework page I have kept place for a footer at the bottom of the page. This is an iView from a par file. Over here in a JSP I have:
    <a href=javascript:CallIView('ROLES://portal_content/<path uptill iView ID>')>Site Map </a>
    The javascript function is:
    function CallIView(pageID)
    EPCM.doNavigate(pageID);
I have created a sitemap and assigned it to a Role. This role does not have an entry point.
On click of the SiteMap link as mentioned above I want the sitemap iView to open in the Content area.
It does open, but it throws an error of the detailed navigation iview in the navigation panel.
Is there some property that is missing.
Even if you make an entry point of the role, it throws this error.

    Hello Prem,
Did you assign this role to the anonymous user?
Also check if your IView has Authentication Scheme to Anonymous.
    Check this:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/cd/1aad4abcb98c4597f9e395a6b62f43/content.htm
Also post the error stack, so I know what exactly is happening.

  • Opening IView in new Window

    Hello SDNers,
I hv a Par IView which on click will navigate to specific internet site.
The IView takes me tht internet site.
However, I want to open the target content in a new window rather opening in a content area or the desktop inner page.
My code goes here like this :
    <p> <a href="http://www.abcd.com"><img src="<%= componentRequest.getWebResourcePath() + "/images/Sampleimage.gif" %>" border="0"></a>
Anybody has an idea on the same ? Please, help me where I went wrong ?
Thanks for your time. Looking forward to your repsonses.
    Kind Regards,
    RK.

    Hi Ravindra,
The portal gives you the opportunity to open an iView in any size window you want (just like window.open, as Preveen mentioned).
First, if you are navigating to the iView from another iView, simply use the EPCM.doNavigate() method with the proper windows features parameter -- see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/26/71c74030308431e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm.
Second, even better, these window features can be supplied in the iView properties, so you can easily set up a DTN where you get your iView in a new window, and the window can be 100 x 200 pixels without and minimize button, or whatever. The properties are under the Navigation category.

  • Portal Content area not displaying in Portal

I tried to disable Portal favorites option from Content admin -> Default Frame work Page -> Detailed navigation. Instead of only disabling the default navigation I have disabled the entire Portal content area and I am now not able to see any content  in the Portal except the masthead area and the Top level navigation.
Can any one please help me on this.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Check the content area iview in the Desktop inner page in framework page.If this iview is not there then it will not show the content area.
If desktop inner page is deeted then also you will not see the content area.
If so please add the content area iview indside the Desktop inner page then you can see the content area for the users.
Content area iview will be available under the following path of the portal
Content Administration > Portal Content > Content provided by sap > Admin Interfaces > Admin Iview Templates > Content Area (view).
    Thanks,

  • Folder Content Listed in Content Area

I understand that this is an issue that was fixed from a previous version, but I will give it a shot anyway.
I would like to direct the folder content to open in the "content" area NOT in the portlet when I select a folder, but apparently this was something that was fixed in 3.0.8. Does anyone know if there is a way to get it back the old way?

    Hi Dharam,
This can be achieved by selecting the object types (eg Folders, Documents, Bookmarks, Notes etc) that you want to use in a collaboration.
If you are a cFolders administrator, you can define which object types are to be used across the entire system on the General tab page under cFolders Administration.
If you are not a cFolders administrator but have administration authorization for a collaboration, you can change this default setting for the relevant collaboration. To do this, proceed as follows:
Go to the collaboration detail screen and choose Object Types. A list of all object types appears. By default, the objects that have been selected under cFolders Administration are already selected. You can select the objects that have not been selected under cFolders Administration as required.
Change this selection if necessary. You can select exactly those object types that you want to be used in your collaboration. The system-wide default is not affected by this.
    Regards

  • Open KM Navigation Content in Portal Content area

    Folks,
We have a km navigation iview and want to open the contents in the portal content area instead of opening the links in a new window. I don't find any configurable options. What are the development effort options and how big is the effort? Any hint will be very helpful.
    Regards,
    Tridib

    Hi Tridib,
see /thread/87593 [original link is broken] for the example of external links. If I'm right in this, the same would hold for other renderers.
    Hope it helps
