Tree Navigation and Link - Open iview in Content Area

Hi,
this is maybe trivial, but I can't find anything about it right now:
I created an iview in Java that shows a custom tree in the detailed navigation area.
Now I have an iview ( a BW apps), that should be behind this link on the inner tree level, and, when clicked, should show up on the inner desktop.
What is the java code that needs to be put into the nav iview to do this? How do I identify the URL that is behind the BW apps that I need to call?

You could also let your custom link in the masthead point to a "quicklink" then you do not have pass any url as parameter you just call as it is and you get what you need.
Do not forget to set the "target" property of the link tag to "_top"

XML Form - Link open in Portal Content Area

I have created an XML form which displays a list of images as links to KM documents (eg a Read More... link).
The problem I have run into is that any link that you click on opens up in a new window.
Is there a setting somewhere that indicates that all links should be opened in the portal content area, rather than in a new window?

Rasim,
You can try doing this.
Logon to Portal.
Click Personalize option on the top left corner and choose work protect mode.
Choose "Discard unsaved data (open page in same window)"
Save and Exit.
Logoff and relogin and check.

Open iView in Content Area

Hi,
I got requriement to open an iView in contenet area when user clicks on link at Masthead. The url of the link is coming thro iView properties. Clinet should have a feesibility to change the url.
I gone thro some threads saying that create an url iView and pass the pcd path as iview like
epcm.donavigate('pcd path',0)
I tried this way but no luck..anybody having experience on this please share your thoughts/suggestions.

How to display related links iview in content area?

Hi,
I have created Related links, but they are opening in a separate windows even though I have set the attribute of the iviews to "open in portal content area".
Please let me know how I can display the iviews of the Related links in the content area.

I don't think you have changed the property at the right place.
Open the iview for which related link is added. Now from the drop down box at the top right select Related Link. The related link editor will open which will show the related link iview. Select the iview and click the EDIT button at the bottom. The related link iview will open. Now Change the "Launch in new WIndow" property.
When you add an iview as reletd link to some other iview, a delta link is created and added to the iview.
This will solve ur problem.

CDN is a separate service in Azure and you can serve your content there.
Then your azure website can use those CDNs that you provide in azure (just like any other CDN out there like Jquery Ajax etc ..)

Inter-site navigation... link to open in the content area

Wanted to know how people are managing inter-site navigation. Suppose I have a set of links defined in the LHS area by using a HTML portlet. URLs on all these links are internal links which can be accessed as http://<hostname>:<port>/pls/portal/url/page/<pagegroup|page>.
Is it possible to define a portlet on the RHS i.e. content area where I can open these URLs ? Will the URL and/or Web Clipping help in any way ?
I can define the URLs on these links as
http://<hostname>:<port>/pls/portal/url/page/<pagegroup|page>?url=<page to show> and <pagegroup|page> is the page which holds the URL container. The URL container will be parameterized to bind to the url value.

Check out this posting from a while ago that gives a suggestion on how to accomplish this.

RoboHelp 10 Skin Navigation Button - Link Open in New Window

I'm using RoboHelp 10 and am trying to get the button in my navigation skin to open a link in a new window. I researched this extensively and have not been able to get it to work. Can you please assist?

Is that link for some external website or some pdf file etc?
When you create a button on a skin and ask it open a file it should do that in the web browser.
If the link is for a website etc then it might give you the following link but you can still open the url in a new window by clicking on 'Open this content in a new window".

Navigation Bar Link opening in a New page??

Hi,
In the navigation bar link , how do we make the link open in a new browser page ?
e.g:- The navigation bar "Help" is present whose target type is an URL sepecified to some valid URL but when the user clicks on "Help" the URL should open up in a new Browser Window..

You can put target="_blank" right before href and it should work.

IView in Content Area

Hi all,
I have customized the collaboration UWl iView. I have created one page and assigned to the role.
That page contains the UWL iView.
In detailed navigation wenever i click that page the page opens in the same window without detailed navigation(DLN) and top level navigaion(TLN)
I want to open the page in content area with TLN & DLN.
I have set the Initial state of navigation panel (Page Property) as open and Launch in new window property as display in portal content area .
How can i do this?
Help me in this regard.

Showing an Iview in content area when exiting a function from ESS menu

I have designed a role( USER_ROLE) With two Folder Home & Change Password. Both the folders are set as entry point.
USER_ROLE
    Home
    Change Password
To the folder Home I added workset(ESS_Workset) and to Change Password folder I have added Change password Iview.
Home
   ESS_Workset.
To ESS_WORKSET i have added URL Iview and set the property as "Invisible In Navigation Area" to Yes and "Open As Default" to Yes. Then I added few SAP transaction Iviews.
When a user logs into portal, URL Iview is shown in the content area since I set "Invisible In Navigation Area" "Open As Default" . When I open a SAP transaction Iview and exits that transaction content area is blank. I want to show the URL Iview content whenever a user exits from SAP transaction.
Please let me know how to do it.

Navigation should be limited only to content area

Hello,
I am importing roles from ECC into the portal.
The transactions are getting displayed in the content area of the portal.
However I would like to traverse forward and backward only for the content displayed in the content area.
Likewise I would also like to display a save button in the masthead (or in the page title bar) so that the transactions displayed in the content area get saved using the button in the masthead , instead of using the regular F3 +CtrlS.
I would also prefer to have forward and backward buttons for traversal of content viz; transactions in the content area.
Can anyone suggest me the possible alternatives to implement the above functionalities.

Acrobat X, Word 2011, and Links in Table of Contents

I have a 300+ page document in Word 2011, with a Table of Contents that has been automatically generated by Word, based off headings.
When I "print" the document using "Save as Adobe PDF" from the Print dialouge, the PDF comes up, but the links in the ToC no longer work.
I've looked online for a solution, but I am noticing two things:
1) The option to turn the ToC links into Hyperlinks is not present on the Mac version of Word (2011).
2) I opened the file in Word 2010 on a PC, and enabled the above feature, and then brought it back to my Mac and Word 2011 - the links now seem active in Word. However, when I convert it to PDF, the links still do not work in the PDF.
Is there an automated way to make the links convert, or to add them to the PDF? With 300+ pages, a Table of Contents with working links is almost essential for navigation.

That's a defect (bug) in Adobe(Mac) that has been going on for 15 years and Adobe refuse to admit it and fix it. In Reference to Links.
The only work around is to use iWork's Pages.
The links should be active. Then Create the PDF from there The links should be live.
I've heard you can do the same thing with Preview, But haven't tried. I know Pages will.
Its no wonder that Apple won't allow Flash on the iPad. Besides not fixing Flash issues on the Mac paltform, They have a history of refusing to fix problems with Acrobat on The Mac Platform.

Tree/leaf and links

Hi,
I just created a tree based on sql, and it's great. But i like whenever users click branches or leaves, these branch/leaf will point to new pages. How to configure this?
By the way, it looks the htmldb How-to url is changed. What is the new url for html how-to?

if you edit the tree definition of your newly created tree, you'll see that it's really defined as a sql query. the fouth column selected out in this query is your link. if you opted not to have your tree link to anything during the process of using our wizard to create your tree, you'll find that fourth column is null. so if you made your tree off the emp table, your might look like this...

...and if you change that fourth column like so...
select "EMPNO" id,

...you'd find that clicking on an employee's name in your tree would link you over to page 1 setting :P1_EMPNO to the value of that emp's empno. the better way to do this, though, would be to set your linking up as you go through the tree wizard. the ninth step of that wizard asks you to "Identify Query". that screen has a "Link Option" field on it. it defaults to "Nothing", but it sounds as if you'd like it to link somewhere in your app. to have it do so, simply select the "Existing Application Item" option in that radio group. the next screen will then help you set up that link.
either of the above two approaches should work fine, but let us know if you need further assistance.

Hyperlink navigation and f3 open declaration problem

Hi:
I am having an issue in FB4 where some classes are not accessible through hyperlink navigation (Command-Space) or Open Declaration (F3). The classes ARE available through Open Resource (Shift-Command-R) and the project compiles fine when I use them.
What's especially strange is that only SOME of the classes in each packager are available, but some are not. And the same holds true for auto-complete, i.e. if I begin an import statement, not all of the classes will not be available for auto-complete.
Any ideas?

I am using the "url" property (under Behavior section). If you select the "..." for this property, it will prompt you for a page to navigate to. I selected my page, then edited the value to include any parameters to pass to the page. Example:
/faces/PageXYZ.jsp?param_name=This is a Test
If you have input variables to pass to the page, then you probably have to resort to javascript. I hope this helps. It's kind of a pain - it would be really nice to use the page navigation features of JSC.

Tree navigation and focus?

I have a pretty big tree in my application. Containing more then 50 groups. When I scroll down, say two pages of length, I hit the + sign to open the subtree the page refreshes but also shifts to the top of the page which means my clients are forced to scroll down everytime they open a subdirectory in the tree which is placed out of sight. How does one maintain the focus on the just opened subtree?

Unfortunately there isn't a way to do that at the moment and no real valid work around.
It will be addressed in a future version.
