  • How to open Flxlab (.exec file)?

    Dear All.
    I have downloaded flxlab2.5alpha for Mac. I need the software for my psychology project. Nothing is happening, when I am trying to open the program (an icon called: flxlab.mac-wrapper (I think that is the correct one). Does anyone have a clue about was is wrong or what I am doing wrong? My Mac OS X version is 10.4.11.
    Best regards
    Ann-Sofie, Denmark

    Ty using the download from here which appears to be the developer's page.  That other site makes me uncomfortable with the way they are telling people (Windows users) they should enable automatic downlods, etc.
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/flxlab/
    I got as far as downloading a .zip file which uncompresses into a folder which has an application file along with many others. I do not want to run this on my computer so I did not start it to test it any farther.
    This version for Mac dates from about 2010 so it should run on modern Macs.

    Thanks

    Well /C is not the path to the app. It is a switch to
    the command line.
    set your file name to "C:/test.doc"
    ~TimSorry, I guess my reply doesn't really answer the problem. But you can supply the entire path as part of the file name string.
    String file = "C:/Path/To/My/File/to execute/test.doc"

  • How do I open exec file?

    I apologize in advance if this post is categorized incorrectly. This was the best possible thread I could find for it.
    Any way.., here's the issue that I'm having. I had a .sitx file that contained a bunch of midi files. The .sitx file was on a partitioned USB flash drive. Since I have a Mac Intel, I also use a PC laptop. I plugged the USB flash drive into my PC laptop & tried to uncompress the .sitx file. The files were uncompressed however, they did not become midi files. Now, when I try to open the original .sitx file, even on my mac, the files do not decompress to their original midi file format. All I get are little grey squares that say "exec" in the upper left corner.
    Is there any way to repair the original ..sitx file or the individual exec files?
    Any assistance is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks:
    AJ

    The next step that I would take is to use the free OpenOffice package. It is a MS Office 2003 style office suite and the MS Word counter-part (Writer) supports over 80 file formats including almost anything that MS Word has ever saved since the mid-1990s.
    If you also have some WordPerfect documents to convert, then instead of OpenOffice, you want its free cousin, LibreOffice. The latter is a spin-off from OpenOffice and has retained the ability to open WP files from PC and Mac.
    Either application is a drag and drop install into /Applications. Think of them as you would a can opener as a tool. Each will let you save/export to .doc and .docxl format. If you do not want an additional office suite, you can always remove them.

  • Opening a Unix Exec file with Automator

    So i downloaded a game called Starbound from Steam onto my mac. To host a server, you need to start the starbound_server Unix Exec file. This file opens in Terminal, and runs a bunch of stuff. So, on my mouse i want to create a Macro that allows me to launch it.
    I want to create a service in Automator that i can assign a shortcut to which i can therfore set as a macro on my mouse.
    So my question is, what do i do? The 'Launch Application' function won't open it, its greyed out when i go to find it. Is there any Automator function that will allow me to open this file?
    For ease of providing answers, the file path is:
    /Users/---/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Starbound/Starbound.app/Contents/MacOS/starbound _server
    Any help appreciated!

    Hello
    You may try using "Run Shell Script" action with the following contents:
    ~/'Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Starbound/Starbound.app/Contents/MacOS/starbound_server' &>/dev/null &
    which will run the executable in background.
    The service workflow will look something like this:

  • Error message: "Unable to open the physical file" when trying to attach AdventureWorks database

    I have searched the internet and this forum and have not found an answer...
    I am trying to install the AdventureWorks database into my single instance of MS SQL Server Express 2005.  I am logged into my machine as an administrator and logged into SQL Server 2005 express 'sa'.  I attempt to run the following script:
    exec sp_attach_db @dbname = N'AdventureWorks',
    @filename1 = N'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\AdventureWorks_Data.mdf',
    @filename2 = N'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\AdventureWorks_log.ldf'
    The error message I get back is:
    Msg 5120, Level 16, State 101, Line 1
    Unable to open the physical file "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\AdventureWorks_Data.mdf". Operating system error 5: "5(Access is denied.)".
    The folder "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data" and all the files in it are read-write.  I am 100.0000% certain the files "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\AdventureWorks_Data.mdf" and "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\AdventureWorks_Log.ldf" exist!  They are the result of running the installation program AdventureWorksDB.msi, which I downloaded from: http://www.codeplex.com/MSFTDBProdSamples/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=4004.
    What do I have to do to install the AdventureWorkds database????

    Hello,
    To try to help you, please, could you give some more informations ?
    - the operating system (XP/Vista), the edition ( Pro/Home...) and the service pack
    - usually, the installer installs the both files in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Sql Server\Samples. Is there any change in the location or have you moved the both files ?
    - could you check with the files explorer , that the 2 files are read-write and not read only( find one file, right-click on it, properties and in the 1st tabpage, you should see a checkbox read-only ( if checked , unchecke it ) ?
    - have you Sql Server Management Studio Express Edition ( at least SP1 ) ?
    If no, download it and use it to attach
    in the object explorer,
    click on your instance to expand it
    right click on databases
    in the contextual menu, click on attach
    in the new form,click on add
    you arrive on a second form : find your file , click on it, and OK
    it's the simplest way to attach ( the sp_-attach_db is complicated to type )
    the error messages are sometimes more clear in SSMSEE than in Sqlcmd
    Try also to attach ( thru SSMSEE or Sqlcmd but in using the windows authentification )
    NB: i hope that you are not trying to attach AdventureWorks on a remote instance and on a remote computer ( it would explain access denied )
    We are waiting for your feedback to try to help you more efficiently
    Have a nice day

  • Script to open all PST files in a directory and open with Outlook.

    Hi!  I am looking for a script that opens all PST files in a directory, opens it in outlook, and writes to a log to see if it completed correctly.  I'm new to VBscript and just want to see how the script would be written.
    Thank you!!

    Thank you for all the input!  JRV, I went through the repository and couldn't find anything about importing into Outlook.  I will use it for future references and I appreciate you directing me there.

  • Opening a PDF file in Admin mode from a windows forms application (C#)

    Hi,
    I need to open a pdf file using Windows Application. I have used the below code launch the pdf files.
    Process prc = new Process();
                prc.StartInfo.FileName = "cmd.exe";
                Environment.CurrentDirectory = @"C:\SamplePDF\";
                prc.StartInfo.Arguments = " /C sample.pdf";
                prc.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false;
                prc.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = true;
                prc.Start();
    This code is working fine without admin mode. But while running the output exe from bin folder with admin mode(right click the exe and choose "Run as Administrator"), pdf files are not launching . But its opened in the background application and I can see this from windows task manager.
    Could anyone please help me on this issue ? Is there any other ways to launch a pdf file in admin mode ?
    -Balaji.

    Thank you for replaying so soon..
    Well you are right by using a widget and etc.. but the problem is that I have been told that this application should open a PDF file that has bookmarks to each chapter of the text and one can make a search on this text by using pdf search.. So I do not have any other choice than opening a pdf :D and my time is unfortunately limit.
    For solving the problem that the user may not have PDF reader.. well I have been told that user should install the pdf reader, so in my application package I am putting the installation file of PDF.
    But going back to my problem.. I guess is someway I have to get the OS type of the user and I have to do a SWITCH or something on the OS type and then change the content of the Runtime.exec(). But the question is how can I get the OS type and what should I change in Runtime.exec().
    So now any idea? any solution??

  • Can i open a flase file (swf)from java application

    i tried to converte the flash file to exe type
    and call
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec(flashName.exe)
    and it worked.
    the broblem is that the exe file is big.
    i want to open the swf file not the exe.
    i tried to call
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec(flashName.swf)
    but exception was throwen.
    does someone know how can i open the swf flash type?
    thanks .

    I just thought of an idea. Assuming that the flash plugin is installed and that you're targeting Windows, why don't you use one of the Java-COM bridges available on the internet and integrate the flash player into your application?
    I know of a few such bridges and I've provided links below to help you. Using these bridges means you won't have to rely on IE or opening a browser to view the file. The player is a seamless part of your application.
    http://j-integra.intrinsyc.com (commercial)
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/jawinproject/ (open-source, freeware)
    http://www.relevancellc.com/halloway/JavaWin32.html (a whole bunch of links for Java-COM interoperation)
    http://danadler.com/jacob/ (open-source, freeware)
    As far as I know, the flash player is installed as an ActiveX control on the system, so integrating it should not pose too much of a problem.
    Hope that helps,
    Cheers

  • Help Needed in opening a HTML File from swing application

    Hi,
    I am opening a HTML file in Internet Explorer from my swing application.
    I am using the code given below
    private final static String WIN_FLAG = "url.dll,FileProtocolHandler";
    private final static String WIN_PATH = "rundll32";
    String cmd = WIN_PATH + " " + WIN_FLAG + " " + url;
    // url is HTML file Path
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec( cmd );
    The HTML file is opening up,but it always opens behind the swing application,that makes me every time to maximize the HTML file after it being opened up.
    I want to open it in front of the Swing Application.
    Any Help Please ?

    Check your Application's JFrame properties (may be ur Frame is set to be in top position ,always),and also check running your application in some other OS.

    ALTER DATABASE <DBName> SET OFFLINE WITH ROLLBACK IMMEDIATE
    Update:
    now am getting the message :
    Msg 15010, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_detach_db, Line 40

    First you should have checked the database mdf/ldf name and location by using the command
    Use CMP_143
    Go
    Sp_helpfile
    Looks like your database CMP_143 was successfully detached but mdf/ldf location or name was different that is why it did not get copied to target location.
    Database is already detached that’s why db offline failed
    Msg 15010, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_detach_db, Line 40
    The database 'CMP_143' does not exist. Supply a valid database name. To see available databases, use sys.databases.
    EXEC @RC = sp_attach_db @DBName, @DESTData, @DESTLog
    Attached step is failing as there is no mdf file
    Msg 5120, Level 16, State 101, Line 1
    Unable to open the physical file "D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA\CMP_143.mdf". Operating system error 2: "2(The system cannot find the file specified.)"
    Solution:
    Search for the physical files(mdf/ldf) in the OS and copy to target location and the re-run sp_attach_db with right location and name of mdf/ldf.

  • Opening a PDF file from a swing application in MAC

    HI everyone,
    Actually I am developing a swing application which should be executable in both windows and Mac (even other) platformes. In my panel I have an icon which leads to a pdf file. I saw in the following thread:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=17&threadID=617767
    that we can use
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler " + file);to open what ever file in windows. I want to know what should I do if this application is running on Mac or Linux! I have never worked with these OS so I do not have any idea how to resolve the problem.
    Can anyone help me with this matter?? That would be really nice of you to reply :)
