Opening new window on button click from pdf without loosing session

Hi,
In my Java web applicaion on click of a link, we are opening a new window in which we are displaying a pdf. There are 5 buttons on this pdf.
On clicking of this button again we are opening a application link in new window. But in this window we are not gettting our session, which is there in first two window.
For opening new window from pdf button click we are using
var dynamicUrl3 = myappurl;
app.launchURL(dynamicUrl, true);
How can i open new window with the same sesion from the pdf button.
Please help for the same.
Thanks,
Abhijit Mohite.

Yes, with target="_blank" in a link or a form. Thanks for ur valuable suggestion. I changed the button to link.
Its working fine now without JavaScript.
Now i got another requirement. When user select some items and press a button in the new popup window, the window must close on button click and the parent window must refresh. This must also be done without using JavaScript.
Is this possible? Please give me an idea to do this.
Thanks.

  • Avoid opening new window on button click

    Hi All,
I have created BSP pages with flow logic.
I have the following pages :
    main.htm
    selection.htm
    details.htm
    I have embedded selection.htm and details.htm  in main.htm
In selection.htm page I have button .On clicking this button, it opens a new window and displays details there. However , i dont want the new window to be opened . The details should be displayed in the details.htm within the same window.
Here is how i have written the code for button in selection.htm page :
<ht mlb: butt on id      = "submit"
                            d esign  = "emphasized"
                            te xt    = "<%= otr(zdfps_google/submit) %>"
                            on Click = "submit"
toolt ip = "Update Map" />
How can I avoid opening of a new window onclick of the button(submit buttton)?

    Hi,
If a new window is opening, I think this is because you specify a target value in your form tag that does not correspond to an existing frame or window. For example:
    <htmlb:form id="details_form" target="details">
This submits the form in a frame or window with name "details". If it does not exist, a new window shows up.
If you want to submit your form to page details.htm, in the same window, you can use the following:
    <htmlb:form id="details_form" action="details.htm">
Note that the target attribute is not specified.
    Hope it helps!

  • Opening New Window on button click

    Hi all,
On click of a <h:commandButton> i want to display a new window which is containing datatable. Is there any possible way to do this with out using javaScript? Is there any possible way of doing it inside bean?
If javascript is the only way tell me how to do that.
    Thanks...

If you want to do it without Javascript, use links instead of buttons. A bean or a servlet cannot push a new window. Using Javascript it's fairly simple:onclick="window.open('foo.jsp');"

  • BSP code to open new page in new window after button click

    Hi expert,
I have a requirement to write a BSP code to open new page in new window after button click. I have done the same for opening in same window but not for opening in new window.
Can you please help me out with the code in which the page opens in new window and the menubar & Addressbar is displayed in hide mode.

    Hi,
    To add more with Anubhav...
                              onClientClick = "javascript:window.open( 'pop.htm' ) "
You can create a pop.htm page, and call the same in another page using the above code.
Refer standard BSP examples, SBSPEXT_HTMLB, SBSPEXT_PHTMLB, SBSPEXT_XHTMLB. You can run the default.htm pages and see what way you want to design your BSP.

Missing options of "Enter Private Browsing" "Open new tab" and "Open new window" when right click (right context menu) firefox icon on taskbar.
i already tired complete uninstall and reinstall, but the options are still missing.

    Hello,
    ''jstavene wrote:''
can find nothing under the tools menu for private browsing?
Then it's not the same issue.
If Firefox is set to '''Never remember history''', then you're in “permanent private browsing” mode, in which case the menu item ''Stop Private Browsing'' will be grayed out. Perhaps that's the case, and you don't find the menu item easy to see?
    * [[Settings for privacy, browsing history and do-not-track]]
If that's not the case, then menu items can be hidden using the userChrome.css file. Check if it exists, and if it's there, rename it, then restart Firefox.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/UserChrome.css
In Firefox Nightly (what will become Firefox 20), per-window private browsing has been added, so the menu item under the Tools menu is gone. It's been replaced by New Private Window under the File menu. I don't suppose it's very likely that you're using such a cutting-edge test version of Firefox though.
If that doesn't solve the problem, since it's a different issue, it would be best if you would ask a new question.

  • Buttons don't open new window. Buttons go dead

I'm having trouble getting buttons to work at the end of my
presentation. My last slide contains 3 buttons that I want the user
to click on as a "next step."
But, my buttons don't seem to work right. The play again
button only works while the movie is playing. Once the movie stops
playing, the button no longer works. I would like the buttons to
remain active even after the screencast has ended.
Here is link to my screencast:
    http://www.kahunadesign.com/RightScale/captivate/RightScale_Demo_v1_buttons.htm
Contact Us and Free Trial buttons are also on the last slide
and don't seem to work. Both links attempt to open a new url in a
    new window.
    Ex:
    "Free Trial" button
    Type: text button
    Button text: free trial
On Success: open url or file
    url:
    http://www.rightscale.com
    Infinite Attempts: yes
Also, under "Slide Properties" of my last slide, how come
there is a "no action" under the Navigation section? If it's the
last slide, I want it to end/stop, not "go to next slide." Maybe
this is why the buttons don't work? Not sure if the problems are
    related.
    Thanks,
    -Dean

Hi Dean and welcome to our community
Looks like you aren't pausing the buttons? Look at the
properties of each button. There should be a "Pause after" option
for each one. Normally the buttons are set to pause after a period
of time. From the time they appear until they pause, they are in an
active state and may be clicked to evoke their assigned action. But
if for some reason the pause is removed or another action causes
the playhead to move into the "Inactive" area, they will appear and
the mouseover effect will be there, but they will be dead to the
world and not react to any mouse clicks.

  • PCUI - open New Window via Button (to call custom URL / HTML viewer)

    Hello group,
I have followed the "Use CRM PCUI HTML viewer to call a custom URL" in order to create a custom URL to BW web template.
However, instead of displaying the URL in a tab (this works fine), I want a Button in the Accounts view to open up a New Window displaying the URL there.
Here is what I have done:
    Create Field Group & Structure
    Create Event
    - Usage: Layout-Relevant
    - Text: Web template call
Added Event to Toolbar Group ACC_OIC
Define Application Layout (CRMM_ACCOUNT) for Event
    - Position: New Window
    - Screen Element Type: HTML
    - my field group
    - my structure
    Define Application Set (COMM_BUPA)
    - my structure
    - my access class
The button is there, when clicked the read-method of my access class is executed, but no New Window is opened with the URL displayed.
Is there something I am missing? Can the HTML viewer not called in a new window?!
I appreciate any input you can provide me.
    Thanks and regards,
    Erik

  • Firefox won't open new windows when I click "File" and "New Window". can you help me?

My question is just as it reads above. My computer is windows 7. I've never run into this before.

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Finder Windows always open new windows when clicking subfolders

since i upgraded to 10.5.6, my finder windows only open new windows when I click on a subfolder. this is no matter what I do with the setting in preferences.
Also, my finder windows no longer display the side bars with folder icons.
I searched my library (and whole computer) for the finder preferences .plist file and can't find it. (was going to delete it and re-create it).
    Any ideas here?

    Thanks for the star.
The default of Finder’s Find will not search that folder, but you can change the pulldown menu just beneath where it says Search, from Kind to System files by selecting Other from that menu and then scroll down the next window and check the box next to System files. You’ll then need to change the pulldown menu next to that to “include” instead of “don’t include.”
The next time you do a search using Find, that pulldown menu will have System files as an option, if you think you might want to search for something in your home folder.

  • Open new window on click of a button

    Dear All,
We are using VC for development of Dashboards.
I have created the related i views.
First page of dashboard shows all the high level graphs.
I intoduced a button on the chart to go into details (another Iview)
I was able to navigate to the next layer on click of button in tool bar and comeback to the first layer again.
I want to open a new window when I click on the button on the tool bar of chart..
Is it Possible in VC? Please help us in this regard.
    Points assured in full.
I have already posted this issue in the forum VC 7.1. But I couldn't get the answer.
    Please Help us.
    Thank You All and Regards
    Joga Srinivasa

    Dear All,
    Sorry for getting back late.
Thanks for your inputs. Problem is solved using pushbutton. I gave the URL of the second Iview in the hyperlink of the pushbutton system action.
The problem with the Popup window is that it wont allow you to to go back and choose or analyze other parts of dashboard. so we adopted the pushbutton approach which takes you to another window allowing full access to the main window.
    Once again, Thank you all.
    Points assigned as promised.

  • How to open new window and generate oracle report from apex

    Hi,
I had created an application that generates PDF files using Oracle Reports, following this Guide.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/howtos/howto_integrate_oracle_reports.html
And I followed 'Advanced Technique', so that users can't generate PDF file by changing URL and parameters. This is done for security reasons.
But in this tutorial, when 'Go' button is pressed, the PDF file is displayed on the same window of apex application. If so, user might close the window by mistake. In order to avoid this, another window have to be opened.
So, I put this code in the BRANCH - URL Target. (Note that this is not in Optional URL Redirect in the button property, but the branch which is called by the button.)
    javascript:popupURL('&REPORTS_URL.quotation&P2100_REP_JOB_ID.')
But if the button is pressed, I get this error.
ERR-1777: Page 2100 provided no page to branch to. Please report this error to your application administrator.
    Restart Application
If I put the code 'javascritpt ....' in the Optional URL Redirect, another window opens successfully, but the Process to generate report job is not executed.
Does anyone know how to open new window from the Branch in this case?

    G'day Shohei,
Try putting your javascript into your plsql process using the htp.p(); procedure.
For example, something along these lines should do it:
    BEGIN
-- Your other process code goes here...
    htp.p('<script type="javascript/text">');
    htp.p('popupURL("&REPORTS_URL.quotation&P2100_REP_JOB_ID.")');
    htp.p('</script>');
    END;
What happens is the javascript is browser based whereas your plsql process is server based and so if you put the javascript into your button item Optional URL Redirect it is executed prior to getting to the page plsql process and therefore it will never execute the process. When you have it in your branch which normally follows the processes, control has been handed to the server and the javascript cannot be executed and so your page throws the error "Page 2100 provided no page to branch to"... By "seeding" the plsql process with the embedded javascript in the htp.p() procedure you can achieve the desired result. You could also have it as a separate process also as long as it is sequenced correctly to follow your other process.
    HTH
    Cheers,
    Mike

  • How to stop Finder from opening new windows to view contents of folders.

I have 2 folders on my desktop, called "Home" and "Work." Both are aliases to files stored in user/documents on my HD. Both contain many folders within folders within folders and, ultimately, documents. When I double click on the "Home" desktop alias, a finder window opens showing contents. When I click on any folder within that window, it does what I want it to...switches to the contents of that folder (within same window, without opening a new one.) This works for everything in that folder.
When I double click on a folder within the "Work" folder, however, it opens a new window at every level. By the time I get to the document I want, I may have 5 or 6 windows open, which I then have to manually close.
I have gone into Finder/Preferences/General and the "Always open new window" box is NOT checked. Any one know why it would still be doing this? (No new applications are opening when I click on the folders, just a new finder window.) And why would it do it for one desktop folder and not the other?
I looked through discussions till my head spun and only saw the Finder/Preferences fix, so I'm hoping there's another fix, like a preference file somewhere that I just need to trash. Any help would be appreciated.
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I don't know if this is the problem, but for windows in "Icon" or "List" view that are set so that the "Toolbar" is not showing, a folder opened within that window will tend to open a new window. This is just a difference in behaviour between the two modes. To show / hide the toolbar, try clicking the elongated button in the upper right corner, in the "titlebar" of the window, or choose "Show Toolbar" / "Hide Toolbar" from the "View" menu.
Additionally, a workaround might be to switch to "Column" view ("View" > "as Columns" ⌘3), since opening a folder within a window in "Column" view does not appear to spawn a new window, even with the "Toolbar" hidden. Another option might be to hold down the "option" key while opening the folder - this causes the previous window to close as the new window is opened.

  • Button on page opens new window, session times out in old window

    Hi,
I've created a custom page and added a button through personalizations in Oracle that opens the new custom page in a new window. When this happens, though, the original window throws the following error when a user attempts to use any functionality in that page:
    Error: Cannot Display Page
You cannot complete this task because you accessed this page using the browser's navigation buttons (the browser Back button, for example).
More specifically, the new button has been added to a LOV page in Oracle. Navigation would be: Create timecards page, click on Task LOV button (this opens new window for Task LOV), new button is on this Task LOV page. The new button then opens the custom page, and when the user returns to the Task LOV page to select a task they receive the error.
How do I prevent this error when the new custom page opens from the button?
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Suzanne

I have an update to this issue:
I found that adding the value &retainAM=Y to the button URL for my custom page resolves the issue of the time-out in the Task LOV page. However, when I make the task selection in the LOV page and return to the main create timecard page, I find that the session has timed out on that page.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Suzanne
