Openssh 3.18.1 on Solaris 8: sftp connection closed

Hi, to setup a secure environment for file transfer, I have installed the following packages in my solaris 8.
- openssh-3.8
- openssl-0.9.7d-Solaris8-local
- prngd-0.9.26-Solaris8-local
- tcpwrappers-7.6-Solaris8-local
- zlib-1.2.1-Solaris8-local
I do not have any problem with SSH but I kept getting Connection Closed when I tried to sftp or scp into my Solaris 8. I have verified the user info is correct but have really no idea what is the problem. Following is the debug output from a windows client to my solaris 8:

  • How to configure FTP/VAN Adapter for SFTP connection?

    Hi,
    I am new to the use of Seeburger's FTP/VAN adapter. I read SDN threads where the FTP/VAN adapter can be used for SFTP connections. Could anyone assist me in the steps to configure the communication channels for SFTP connections?
    Scenarios:
    1. R/3 -> XI -> File (SFTP server)
    2. File (SFTP server) -> XI -> IDoc
    There is no VAN connection involved. I am just trying to utilize the adapters my PI system currently have for my interface requirement.
    Is the configuration as simple as configuring the communication channel or there are scripts involved? If there are scripting involved, is there a benefit to use scripting in the FTP/VAN adapter, rather than XI's own File adapter?
    Please assist. Thank you.

    Hi Andrew,
    Standard PI Adapter will not support to conenct SFTP server, we have to use third party adapters?? do you have any third party adapters??
    many compniaes providing SFTP adapters and SAP PI Supports to.
    if you dont have third party adapter we do have other alternative , refer below blog

  • Can't establish a sftp connection with the finder

    Hi, I'm trying to establish a sftp connection with the finder (using the "Connect to server" feature) between my (recently purchased) Mac Mini (mid 2011: i5, 2.3 GHz, 2 GB, running 10.7.3) and a Debian Testing box and I can't, I get the following error:
    'There was a problem connecting to the server "ip.address"
    This file server will not allow any additional users to log on. Try to connect again later.'
    However if I try establishing a connection from the terminal (either ssh or sftp) it works flawlessly:
    SSH:
    victoria:~ RonIn$ ssh [email protected]

    I've searched for a fix or alternative on the internet and I haven't found one that works; The one that keeps coming up is to try: "ftps" as the protocol instead of "sftp" with the remaining information the same (it doesn't work, it gets the same error message afterwards).
    The IP address and login information works (corroborated by the fact that I can log in from the terminal from the Mac Mini) so the only issue is with the finder capabilities for establishing the connection. I have looked for apple related documentation or How Tos but I haven't found anything useful.
    I don't want to use any third party app or tweak because of the sensitive information that is going to be transfered, I would like to be using strictly the tools from the OS.
    If you need any more information please let me know, any help is deeply appreciated.

    I have the same issue although i kind of fixed it. I have two admin accounts and one of the account's safari did the same thing as yours, except, it was the startpage and everypage i tried to visit. I reseted safari, as in the erase all data safari in the toolbar, safari-Reset Safari... But safari still didn't work. I logged out and went to my other account and opened safari. Now it works fine on both accounts. This meant safari had to logout before actually working better. I have this a few times these days.

  • SFTP connection issue with Dreamweaver 2014

    I have a very weird SFTP connection issue with Dreamweaver CC (2014). I am on a Mac running 10.9.4 and have no problem connecting to my server through SFTP with Dreamweaver CS 6. However, using the exact same settings on CC (2014), I get the following error: "An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host. Your login or password is incorrect. Please check your connection information".
    I am truly at a loss here. Command line connection works without problems.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi there,
    Try after rebooting your system or in a different user account on MAC.
    Is there any limit with number of login sessions with your SFTP?
    Could you check with Filezila or similar FTP client and connect to your site, see if you get any error there?
    Thanks.

  • SFTP MGET of large files fails - connection closed - problem with spool file

    I have a new SFTP job to get files from an FTP Server.  The files are large (80mg, 150mg).  I can get smaller files from the ftp site with no issue, but when attempting the larger files the job completes abnormally after 2 min 1 sec. each time.  I can see the file is created on our local file system with 0 bytes, then when the FTP job fails, the 0 byte file is deleted.
    Is there a limit to how large an ftp file can be in Tidal?  How long an ftp job can run?
    The error in the job audit is Problem with spool file for job XXXX_SFTPGet and an exit code of 127 (whatever that is).
    In the log, the error is that the connection was closed.  I have checked with the ftp host and their logs show that we are disconnecting unexpectedly also.

    I believe there is a limitation on FTP and what you are seeing is a timeout built into the 3rd party application that tidal uses (I feel like it was hardcoded and it would be a big deal to change but this was before Cisco purchased tidal)  there may have been a tagent.ini setting that tweaks that but I can't find any details.
    We wound up purchasing our own FTP software (ipswitch MOVEit Central & DMZ) because we also had the need to host as well as Get/Put to other FTP sites. It now does all our FTP and internal file delivery activity (we use it's api and call from tidal if we need to trigger inside a workflow)

  • CFFTP SFTP Connection problems - CF8

    I have run into a brick wall trying to make the secure
    connection.
    My code is as follows
    <cfftp action = "open"
    username = "MyUser"
    connection = "MyConnection"
    password = "MyPassword"
    fingerprint = "fi:ng:er:pr:in:th:er:e"
    server = "IP Address"
    port="22"
    secure = "yes">
    I have confirmed the fingerprint (technically not required)
    and the port.
    Using FileZilla and the same parameters, I can make the SFTP
    connection with no problem.
    Yet in CF8 on my CrystalTech hosted account, I can't. I am
    working with their support team, but have been unsuccessful for
    several days.
    Has anyone actually ever done this in real life? I am falling
    days behind on this project.

    As it turns out, the webhost serving CF8 (CrystalTech) has
    blocked port 22 traffic. Port 22 is the standard port for SFTP
    traffic. I am working with the support team there trying to get
    them to permit traffic on this port. It doesn't look hopeful. I
    have now lost a good 20+ days on this issue.
    Does anyone have a workaround for using SFTP in CFFTP on a
    CF8 server? Need to move a file from the CF8 server to a different
    server - different location... securely.

  • SFTP Connection fails

    Have been using Adobe Contribute CS3 version 4.1 for some time. We recently upgraded our FTP server to WS_FTP set only to accept SFTP connections. Contribute worked fine with the new server for over a month (after editing the connection configuration in Contribute from FTP to SFTP). But now I cannot get Contribute to connect properly. If I edit the connection and click next, it gets to the point saying "Testing Connection" then displays the following error "An error has occured. Please contact your Administrator."
    I have WinSCP installed on the same PC as Contribute and it can connect fine with our SFTP server so it's not a firewall or port blocking issue. When I look at the log on the SFTP server the log shows that Contribute authenticates and connects properly, but errors while trying to STAT and OPEN/WRITE some temporary files that do not exist on the server. The errors in the log show "File not found."
    Anyone have any ideas on what these temp files are and why it is attempting to write to a file that isn't there? I would appreciate any help on this issue.

    You'll probably want to add -Djava.awt.headless=true to JVM's options. If that doesn't work: what is your Java version?
    Or if you have a graphics card on the weblogic server, you could experiment with hardware-accelerated Java graphics. But that's another story.

  • FireFTP and CoreFTP SFTP connection issues

    Hi,
    With the new SFTP changes I've tried connecting with FireFTP but I seem to have issues  - it appears to be connected however no files are showing. So I tried CoreFTP which says Application error SFTP connection error. So then I tried FileZilla which connects fine with SFTP but after reading online about the security issues with Malware (if in the unfortunate case of them getting through security) they can easily read all FileZilla passwords.
    So, always wanting to look at a more secure FTP client (but not getting around to it), this seems the perfect time to do so and just wondering if anyone can recommend a more secure FTP client to use that connects to BC sites with SFTP fine? Ideally I'd like one that requires you to login before you can access any sites for that extra security.
    Or if anyone can let me know if there is something else that I need to be change in FireFTP (and CoreFTP) for SFTP to connect to BC sites.  All I've done in FireFTP is gone to the Connection Tab > changed Security to SFTP which changes the port to 22.
    Cheers

    Hello,
    Core FTP's SSH/SFTP option isn't exactly SFTP, it's actually FTP over a SSH channel. In order to activate true SFTP in Core FTP you have to select SSH/SFTP for the connection type and go to Advanced (next to the host/ip/url) -> SSH and check "Use Putty compatible SFTP".
    Doing that enables the SFTP protocol for the connection. It's not intuitive, but that's the way they implemented it...
    Regarding FireFTP, I have not managed to make it work with any SFTP server. I have also tested with non-BC SFTP servers and it doesn't connect to them either. Can you point me to a SFTP server implementation that works with FireFTP ? That would help me identify the problem.
    Best regards,
    Iulian Radu.
    PS:
    In our internal benchmarks for the SFTP server we identified that WinSCP had the best single threaded performance on Windows computers.
    However, there are some brilliant clients on OS X (and also on Windows) that do multithreaded transfers. If you are looking for blazing fast performance I reccommend you use a client that opens multiple connections to the server. The speedup is linear with the number of threads.
    We currently have loose limits on the number of connections from the same user so you can benefit from it.
    In the future though, depending on load, those limits may become more restrictive, but the benefit will still be there.
    To give you an example, one multithreaded OS X client managed to download and upload 1200 10k files in 1 minute (for each operation). This is a lot faster than I expected. All single threaded SFTP clients will have problems with transferring that amount of files due to latency constraints. I think a reasonable expectation would have been 15-20 minutes for that many files using a single threaded client.

  • OpenSSH: How to setup non-interactive SSH/SFTP/SCP

    Hi,
    Anyone has any idea how to setup/configure OpenSSH on Solaris (Client) & Windows (Server) for sftp/scp transfer in non-interactive host-based authentication.
    I need to setup this for secure file transfer from a solaris client to a windows server without having to enter a password. My external script will run in crontab to tap on sftp/scp for file transfer.
    Pls advise. thanks.

    I'd go for key-based authentication and simply don't provide a password for the key. You're on your own about how to implement this on Windows, so far I wasn't even aware Windows had a SSH service.

  • FTP adapter settings for SFTP connection

    We are trying to connect an FTP adapter to a SFTP server.
    After solving the license problem with Maverick/3SP class, the error we get now is:
    "The Adapter Framework was unable to establish an outbound JCA connection due to the following issue: ORABPEL-11447
    Error in establishing a session with SSH Server..
    Unable to establish a session with the server."
    Have done all steps required, set up the oc4j-ra.xml file, adding the license file to the jar, etc. The settings are as usual (following the instructions in the manual): password authentication, port 22, etc.
    Taking a look at the SFTP/OpenSSH server log, we can see that OAS tries to connect, but the last log entry is "fatal: Read from socket failed: Connection reset by peer.". Of course, if we try to connect through the SFTP client from the OAS machine to the SFTP server, we can do it with no problems.
    What can we do?

    Log a Service Request with Oracle. We are working with Oracle to resolve SFTP related issues as well.
    Good luck, Sjoerd

  • Oracle 9.0.1 on Solaris/SPARC infinite connection timeouts

    Hello, All!
    I have the following system configuration:
    Solaris 5.9 Maintenance Update 4;
    Sun Ultra 10, 1 UltraSPARC IIi 440Mhz CPU, 1024M RAM;
    Oracle 9.0.1 (9i Release 1).
    The database was created with JServer option turned on (we're using the integrated CORBA functionality); archive log mode is OFF, database cache advice is ON.
    In a nutshell,
    ==============
    the problem is in really infinite connection timeouts of Oracle after a long time of inactivity (say, on Monday after two weekend days).
    Long description.
    =================
    Client-side symptoms.
    First, I tried to establish a connection to a published CORBA object, and received no response (I am already waiting for 1 hour 40 minutes).
    Then, I tried to connect to the database with SQLPlus, remotely:
    $ sqlplus /nolog
    SQL> CONNECT SYS/change_on_install@ORCL AS SYSDBA;
    All the same, I receive no reply. However, the listener is alive, I can establish a network connection to both ports 1521 and 2481. Client-side logs (specified via sqlnet.ora) say the following:

    Oracle local client debug log (oracle enterprise manager runs on the same machine) says:
    ...nsevwait: nsevwait: nsevwait: nsevwait: nsevwait:

    ps -e -o "user,pid,pcpu,pmem,rss,vsz,args" says there're several (3) processes running as oracle, with "args" oracle_ORCL, which eat up nearly all available memory (they have "pmem" values of 25, 25 and 17 per cent, respectively). One of these processes has "pcpu" value varying from 97% to 100%, moreover, this is a user, NOT system time (according to sdtperfmeter, disk/page/swap activity is extremely low; system load holds at value of 4). Here is a sample vmstat output:
         cpu
    cs us sy id
    287 99 1 0
    285 100 0 0
    280 100 0 0
    272 100 0 0
    298 98 2 0
    275 99 1 0
    267 100 0 0
    307 97 3 0
    282 100 0 0
    270 100 0 0
    307 98 2 0
    287 100 0 0
    Here cs is the number of cpu context switches per second;
    us is cpu user time;
    sy is cpu system time.
    The question is: what oracle may be doing and how can I fix the problem?
    Thanks in advance.

    Now, 3 hours later, the first two (of three) connections got established, but subsequent database queries are in the same nearly dead state.
    CPU usage remains about 100%, system load 4.
    I know that oracle restart (and/or system restart) will cure the problem -- but only until next weekend.
    Can this be oracle misconfiguration?

  • SFTP connects fine at times and not at others

    I have a user who has remote login enabled on her iMac and she connects to this computer via her Macbook Pro over SFTP using Fetch (FTP client). She has a static IP address and is able to connect fine at times but is refused connection at other times (mainly at night for some reason). Her energy saver settings are set so that it should wake for network access and it was as I tested it. I've looked through the logs and the only thing I can find that might be somewhat related are:
    :in pamsmauthenticate(): Failed to determine Kerberos principal name.
    :error: PAM: authentication error for....
    Does anybody have any ideas as to what I could be missing here? It's just odd that the problem is intermittent and more problematic later at night.

    Her energy saver settings are set so that it should wake for network access
    So what?
    Unless you're using the latest Apple AirPort base station with sleep proxy support, 'wake for network access' doesn't do what you think.
    This option does not mean 'wake for any arbitrary network access that might come along', it means 'wait for a very specific network Wake-on-LAN packet designed to wake a machine over a LAN'.
    In other words, turning on this option doesn't magically make the machine wake when someone tries to access a service that should be running on the machine.
    I'd check to see whether the machine was sleeping at the time of these inaccessible periods.
