I am running Oracle 10g server and database on Linux.

    thanks,

    Thanks for u r reply.
    resolved this issue
    oracle/middleware/oracle_idm1/bin
oidldapd folder is missing. so we copied the folder from trail environment and placed in above directory and started opmnctl services.
    it worked.

The above is the reason I've almost stopped using Oracle AS.
The architects who put in DCM, OPMN, OID, Metadata repository into Application Server should be shot!
I've had to re-install my servers several times when I get strange unsolvable issues like the above. (Its faster that way! Believe me!)
My suggestion is that only use OC4J.

  • Init.d script to auto-start opmnctl startall

    Hi,
My customer had created init.d script for 'opmnctl startall'.
The script given below results in error stating that 'ulimit files cannot be set'.
But, checking ulimit for root and oracle shows unlimited.
    Script:
    su - oracle -c
    "/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/http/opmn/bin/opmnctl startall" > /dev/null
Please share your ideas on how to resolve this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sindhiya V.

    Hi,
I kind of remember seeing the same thing once, and I solved it by making sure that the Shell Limits was correctly set for the oracle user (or the user you have installed the product as). Check out:

Is it possible that someone editted it and messed up the XML structure? If you have XML Spy, see if server.xml is well-formed and valid. If you have a backup or saved file of the previous version, you may want to go back to that.

  • How to disable webcache on opmnctl startall

    Hi
how to disable webcache on OAS 10g ? definitively.
with opmnctl startall i'd like to bypass the mount of this service.
    Regards
    Den

    Hi,
If you want to disable WebCache, you can do that from the Enterprise Manager Application Control web page. Once disabled, you can issue the opmnctl startall command without WebCache starting.
Otherwise, you will have to start each component individually, e.g. opmnctl startproc process-type=HTTP_Server, etc.

  • 10.1.2 opmnctl startall hanging

I have a server with a couple of OAS installs (TEST and DEVL) and they usually co-exist peacefully but on occasion, like now, my one app server won't start.
The last time I had this issue I had to shutdown all app environments (also have some 11i EBS as well) and reboot the server to make it all work.
What I'd like to know is what files I should look at like webcache or Apcahe log files and if there is some other things I should check. I was using lsof -i:xxxx to see if any ports reserved for one app were being used by another but that doesn't seem to be turning anything up.
I can start the INFRA database but then it hangs here:

Well the Listener is started now ..... ;o)
That fixed it. The listener is started in a separate step and I was missing that as I checked things.
    Thanks.

  • OPMNCTL STARTALL refuse to start

    Hi,
    i've any problem with my application server;
Firstly i had problem with control files. An error swhowed teh control files were inconsistent but i resolved this problem but copying the correct coltrol file to the others.
Now,after starting up the database and the listener, i can't continue by starting opmn services...only 2 services turn on (HTTP_Server and OID),the others refuse until the delay goes over and an error appears.
I'll be happy for any help.
I've Linux Red Hat 5 like OS and Oracle 10G for the database
    Thank you

  • OPMN.XML - strange caracters after lauching the Iasconsole

    Hello all,
Something very strange started to happen and I cant see why :(
When I launch the IAs console the file opmn.xml is changed by the application and some strange caracters show up in the file.
    example: caracters like "â" "m":
    <data id="java-options" value="-server -Xms128M -Xmx1024M âXX:MaxPermSize=128m
    Djava.security.policy=/u01/app/oracle/product/ias_10.1.2/j2ee/OC4J_TEST/config/java2.policy -Djava.awt.headless=true"/>
Because of the strange caracters I cannot launch the opmn and I get the following error when executing the
    opmnctl startall:
    ERROR:
    In line 1 of /u01/app/oracle/product/ias_10.1.2/opmn/conf/opmn.xml:
LPX-00200: could not convert from encoding UTF-8 to ISO-8859-1
    XML parse failed: error 200.
The workaround is not to start the console, edit the opmn.xml removing the strange caracters, and launch the opmn with "opmnctl startall".
If the opmn is up and I try to launch the iasconsole the console starts but the opmn goes down.
Has anyone see this? Can anyone help me out?
I appreciate your help on this one.
    Tks
    Thanks in advance.
    Joao

This might have to do with regional settings, or "funny" keyboard settings. Do you use a localized OS (ergo: is you *nix talking english and are you using US intl. keyboards?)

    Here is my problem.

My process are alive but in a "Stop" Status.
My Webcache works (We can reach My Portal)
But I can't start neither stop my WebCache without errors.
When stopping it,I must also kill -9 the pid.
    Is Anybody inspired ?
    thanks

  • Unable to start OC4J & HTTP Server

    Hi All,
I am installing Oracle 10g Application Server Release 3(10.1.3) on IBM AIX 5.3L ML 04 operating system by remote desktop using "Xmanager" software for GUI.
I choose advanced installation type "Integrated Web Server, J2EE Server and Process Management". Everything went smoothly, till The Configuration Assistants. The OPMN configuration Assistant failed.
I went ahead with completion of the installation. Later I tried
