Option 1: how much of the 40gig have i used?

Hi,
Had option 1 for a couple of weeks now...
Aside from using the stats on the hh3:
http://192.168.1.254/html/settings/a_internet.html
Is there any way online I can see how much of the 40 gig I've used?
Cheers,
Steve

Yea you can log into your B.T account on Bt.com, log in, go to my services, then on the left handside there should be either BB or Infinty, i'm on Broadband so it has that there. Once clicked go to the bottom and "view broadband usage".
If you want to say thanks for a helpful answer, please click on the Ratings star on the left-hand side If the the reply answers your question then please mark as ’Mark as Accepted Solution

  • On a new imac how much of the HDD is already used with the OS,iLife,apps..

Looking to buy my 1st ever iMac, the one Im going to get is the base one, with 250Gb HDD (I may upgrade to 320Gb for UK £29 though)
My question is how much of the HDD is already used by OS X and everything on it? I understand there is some free trial stuff onthat can be installed eg MS Office, iWork etc I would want these removed as wouldnt want them so how much is left before you start adding your own stuff
I also want to install Win XP on it so need to know what to do, 250Gb in todays computing is very stingy I think, so I need an idea
    cheers

Here's are some disk usage information from my 20" white C2D. The numbers
are running totals that include periodic software updates and some of my own
stuff -- but that would be less than 0.5 GB of the final total.
OS-X with "no optional packages" is a very usable system; it includes 'core'
applications such as Safari, iTunes, Quicktime. It does not include any of the
iLife apps or the iWork/MS_Office test-drive bloatwares.
The large increase in disk usage for a minimum Leopard system is partly due
to the inclusion of more apps in the 'core' OS package. Some things that were
optional in Tiger have become part of the "minimum" Leopard install.
The Xcode software development tools are a standard part of every OS-X
distribution, but since most customers have no use for them, they're not
included in the factory-installed disk image. If you don't plan to install
them, subtract 3.4 GB from the final tally.
    Factory pre-installed Tiger 10.4.8 & bundled software .................. 16.4 GB
Erase & Install Tiger 10.4.8 with NO optional packages .................. 2.9 GB
SoftwareUpdate to 10.4.10, with NO optional packages .................. 3.1 GB
Erase & Install Leopard 10.5.0 with NO optional packages ............... 6.6 GB
SoftwareUpdate (11/11, immediately after Leopard install) ............. 6.7 GB
Install Xcode SW development tools from Leopard DVD ................. 10.1 GB
    Install & SoftwareUpdate iLife'08 (except iWeb & GarageBand) ....... 12.3 GB
SoftwareUpdate to Leopard 10.5.1.................................................. 12.5 GB
IMO, 250 GB is FAR more than you'll ever need for installable software plus
a sizeable collection of music/photos. OTOH, no amount of disk space will
ever be enough for an avid music/photo/video junkie, and everyone should
have an external backup drive. So, stick with the standard internal drive and
    buy more external storage.
...a billion here, a billion there -- and pretty soon you're talkin' 'bout alot of money,

I know of no way to do this with Reader or XML.

  • I need to find out how much wifi data my apps are using. I have a very limited amount of wifi data, and I am exceeding my monthly allowance. Apparently, even apps I think are not open are sending/receiving data through the wifi and using up my allowance.

I need to find out how much wifi data my apps are using. I am on a very limited amount of WiFi data each month, which I am regularly exceeding. I have been told to work out which of my apps is using the data. Also, I think I have closed an app by double clicking the home button, then swiping the app up - is this the way to close it, or will it still be sending/receiving data?

Go into your Settings : General : and turn off background refresh for your apps.  In Settings : Mail  turn Fetch new data to OFF and Load Remote Images to OFF.  This will mean that Mail will only check for messages when you actually use it, and all your advertising junk mail won't have all the images in it.
Turn off push notifications every chance you get.
Make sure you are actually quitting apps:  to quit apps press the Home button twice and you should see a bunch of smaller screen images for every open app.  To quit the app swipe from the screen image (not the icon) upward off the top of the iPad.  You can swipe left and right to see more open apps, but there must be no left-right movement on the screen when you swipe upward to close the app.
Turn off your internet connection when you do not need it.  The easiest way to do this is to swipe up from the bottom of you screen to get the control centre, and then touch the airplane to turn on airplane mode.  You can repeat this sequence to turn it back on again when you need it.  Most especially turn airplane mode on whenever you are sleeping your iPad for long periods.  This will save battery life too.  OR actually turn your iPad off - which means holding the power key down for several seconds until the red swipe bar appears, and then swipe to turn it off.  If you go this route, note that it will take longer to turn on then it takes to wake from sleep.

  • My dad has an imac G5 from 2005, and I'm wondering if we can bring it to the Apple store and replace it with one of the newer models. How much would the G5 be worth and how much money would we have to put on top of it to buy the newer model?

How much is the G5 worth? The one from 2005.

The Apple Store will offer to recycle it for free, you are better off selling it on ebay or elsewhere, I have seen decent looking ones go from $80-$250 here in Australia.
You are looking at $1000 + to get a new one

  • How much is the fee I have to pay to have my iPad 2 - 16 GB 3G replaced for a new one ? I have broken my glass screen.

I would like to know if any of you have an idea of how much apple store charges me to replace my iPad for a new one. My iPad is the iPad 2, 16 Gb with 3G.
How much is the fee ?

I don't know what country that you are in, but in the US the price for repair (i.e. replacement, which will be the same model/spec) for the iPad 2 is (from here) $249, and here in the UK (from here) it's £206.44

  • Is there any way to find out how much battery life you have on you're Bluetooth Magic Mouse and Apple Keyboard on your Windows Partion?

I'm a avid gamer and for my gaming needs most of the games that I love require Windows ,but due to my constant clicking I drain my mouse battery very fast so I always have backups. Is there anyway I can check how much mouse battery I have left so I can be sure before I start a gaming session that I'll be fine? Switching back and forth between partions is an option ,but I find it as more of a last resort then something to do normally.
    Thanks in advance!

call them, tell them you NEED a new battery installed, and they need to tell you when they can do it.  That is their job to help you! Give pushback if necessary.

  • How much for the power button replacement?

Power button for my iphone 5 can't work, can't power on/off or wake/sleep the device, have to plug in PC for power on, the apple warranty service for my iphone has expired,so, how much for the power button replacement?

Out of warranty replacement thru apple is $269.00 USD.  That includes a 90 day warranty on the replacement device.  You might want to check for repair shops that will just repair the power button, but since your warranty is expired, that might be a cheaper option for you.

  • TS3274 I am thiking of buying iPad to use it at school. Can I open textbook withought using WiFi? How much will the Internet fee be?

I am thiking of buying iPad to use it at school.
Can I open textbook withought WiFi?
How much will the Internet fee be?

What is your grade level? Most (many?) schools at the secondary and college/university level have wifi, so if using it at school you would be set there and if you have wi-fi at home, you should be all set, there, too. Having cellular can be expensive for what you get in terms of space, and depending on where you live, you might want to do some research to see what your best options are.
    That said...
I had questions as soon as I read your post. Are all of your books available for ipad? Do you have a computer, because you'll need one, etc.(I know you're using one now...)  If you do, then the ipad could work for you. My younger son is starting his junior year in college and he's getting an ipad for convenience. But he has an imac in his dorm room, so he'll be set. He knows that's more important for productivity than an ipad, but loves the idea that he can bring it to class for notes, put them on his imac for editing in microsoft office and excel, upload files he needs from classes, etc.
I opened a thread to the right on this page to see if there was information re these questions, and there are. There are also many threads where people have your same questions, and many have very helpful answers. The only thing is it might be time consuming. You might have to go way back to read them. There are so many questions asked 24/7 that a new question on this site might be ten pages back in a matter of hours. I don't do it often, but I check them out and and I've gotten some very helpful info. Take notes and perhaps what you learn can help you make your decision.
One thing I would skip as an option would be a netbook. They crawl... class would be half over before you'd get to start your note taking, and they are not powerful at all and have limited space even if you max it out with a larger hard drive. We bought two for my sons to take notes in college and don't use them anymore.
If you let us know more about your school level, specific situation, and why you want 4g, hopefully people can possibly help you better. All the best as you make your decision!
