Options for stopping duplicate files

Hi,
We have a requirement for an interface for Flat Files to IDOC, but we have to stop duplicate files coming in based on 2 fields in the flat file. We have to check a Sequence Number in the file and make sure we haven't processed a file with this seq number already (so if yesterdays file was Sequence number 11 then todays file should be sequence number 12). Also we need to check that the Date Field in the file is todays date.
Can you give me some suggestions on how we would do this in SAP PI? The date is probably OK, I can check it in my mapping but the sequence number I'm having trouble with. Can I write a UDF to access a file on the local file system and update this with sequence numbers?
Thanks in advance,
Gareth

>>> refer below link,
>>> http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/XI/DifferentwaystokeepyourInterfacefromprocessingduplicate+files
Thanks for this, but it doesn't suit our needs. This only archives the file name of each file and then checks if that file has been processed. We need to store a sequence number from within a file and also a date.
If anyone has used PI Tables from within a Message Mapping or UDF and can explain how to access them that would be great.
Thanks,
Gareth

I just upped my VM ot 12gb (I have 8gb mem.
When I create a new project I give it a name, it then does regular saves automatically. With a stop motion project I noticed that does not seem to happen and if I do save as, it automatically erases the previous file or at least 0's out the file to 0kb.
how can I rescue this file. its a 4 minutes of non repeatable stop motion.......ugh
In the future what is the max number of pics per second I should be taking? I had it set to .25 of a second -4 per second

  • Options for saving PDF files in Acrobat X Pro

In Adobe Acrobat X Pro, there are options to Save a file as PDF/A, PDF/X, and PDF/E.  I could not find a description on what those switches/parameters do.  Would appreciate anyone telling me how they differ from a regular Save, or where I can find online documentation for them.

In short you can find several references on line for these:
    PDF/A - Archive format
    PDF/X - For publishers
PDF/E - Optimized for engineering drawings
For more info, check the web as suggested. The ISO is even there.

  • Licensing Options for .air (& .pdf) files?

    Hello,
Does anyone have any ideas for licensing software for .air files that will be distributed?  Using .swf licensing option might also work. Most everything out there is for .exe, and is really expensive.
I'm also looking for licensing options for use in PDFs that will be distributed.
    Thanks!

  • Utility for Revealing Duplicate Files?

    Greetings,
When I got my LaCie back up drive, I used their software to back up my HD, which at that time had around 30/80GB used. Right afterward I noticed the disk space used had doubled, and now I wonder if it was all copied onto my original HD. I know it seems odd that I don't know, but I have to wonder if they're hidden. I prefer Carbon Copy Cloner to the native LaCie software at this point, as I prefer more control.
Anyway, is there a program that will help reveal duplicate files on a HD?
    TIA,
    Rose

    Hi, Michael.
I suspect it might not catch two otherwise identical files with differing names.
I just put it to the test: I picked a folder on my computer with four files in it, selected and Finder-duplicated all four files twice (so each duplicate had a different name from the original), and then ran FB's "Find Duplicate Files" routine. I dragged the folder containing the three identical, but differently named, sets of files into the Find Dupicate Files window, deselected the "name and extension" checkbox, and ran the search. FB correctly identified all twelve files as duplicates.
Since the originals are flagged as duplicates by the search, it would be a disastrous mistake to delete every file that FB calls a duplicate — you've got to keep one of each set of dupes.
I continue to marvel at the hundreds of tasks FB performs almost effortlessly. As I remarked to someone else in a recent post, FB is to the Finder what Photoshop is to QT PictureViewer. After seven or eight years or so of owning and using it, I'm still discovering functions I didn't know it could perform.

  • Can I change option for Consolidating Duplicate Fonts?

I work for a textbook publisher. Our materials are constantly be proofed, updated, and repurposed. Several of the titles are over 1,000 pages. We are experiencing very significant hangups when it comes to "Consolidating Duplicate Fonts" when we replace the initial page of these documents, and then again when we need to do a "Save As." Sometimes this process can take upwards of 45 minutes. This has created a production nightmare without any resolution I can find to the problem. Is there anything we can do to speed up or bypass this process without bloating the file sizes or degrading press-ready compatibility?

Thank you for your input, Luke. And, yes, I am talking about PDFs.
In normal situations, your suggestion may be a viable option. However, our printer and the vendor we use to generate/post our digital editions require completely embedded font sets (no subsets). But, I will give it a try, just to test the theory.
Our Student Edition textbooks actually run through this process at a resonable time; taking about 2–3 minutes.
Primarily, the issue happens when updating pages within our Teacher's Edition. The teacher's book pages contain an insert of the student's textbook pages. Those imported graphics for the insets are also PDFs, made from a cropped press-optimized version of the student's pages. It's my thought that is what is causing the trouble. Otherwise, this text in the teacher's book is quite simple. I'm fairly sure the app has to basically read/consolidate each of those particular pages twice. But it still shouldn't take as long as it does.
Typically, we use only four font families: Avant Garde, New Century Schoolbook, Lubalin Graph, and Jacoby. We do use a few others randomly for illustrative purposes at times, but all-in-all, we keep fairly simple in regards to font usage. I really don't believe the issue has anything to do with the quantity of fonts being used.

  • Options for large XML file - downloading from the app hangs browser

I am using 5.6.3 in EBS.
My users want to create files that can be uploaded into another system. The system will take XML files so my original idea was to create a data definition and have the user simply save the xml output (using View XML option). A .rtf template is also required for a pdf output - a summary of what was sent in the extract. This idea worked fine until I got a large file (37+ MB) and the View XML crashed my browser. Other than moving the files to a directory on the server that my user has access to, is there any other way to get at that raw XML?
    Updated:
I have been doing some more reading and I am wondering if both an etext template and a pdf template would have been the better solution. This way I could submit once with the etext template and republish same data with the pdf template. Has anyone tried this successfully? I am not sure though that this would eliminate my problem with the large files (100,000+ records) crashing the browser. When you use an etext template, how do you get at that file? Is it using the 'View Output' button on Request Form or do I have the option to send it somewhere directly (i.e. server or email)?
    Any tips would be appreciated.
    Edited by: Tam_11 on Jan 14, 2011 1:38 PM

    Hi,
using etext, the text output will still be in the usual directory at $APPLCSF/$APPLOUT.
The text output will be smaller than the XML output so I'd be surprised if it still crashes your browser so you shouldn't need to get the XML.
What format is needed for the target system?
    Cheers
    Kofi

  • Option for saving a file as a pdf is not available in scroll down menu

I've been trying to save a file as a pdf by selecting print but pdf does not show up for one of the options in the scroll down menu. All I have to choose from is Fax, hp psc 1200 series and Microsoft XPS Document Writer. I was able to do this back in November but don't know why I can't now. I have Adobe Reader on my computer.
    Thanks if you can help.

Thank you so much! I figured out that somehow my PDF creator was gone. I've downloaded it again.

  • What are my options for opening EPS files in Elements 13? What is the best way to convert these to another type of vector file?

I "upgraded" from Photoshop Elements... uh... mad old... to Elements 13 when my work computer got "upgraded" to Win8. Now I can't open EPS files which is how I receive collateral from our ad agency. What other vector files will work, and how can I convert EPS to these? Please be gentle if this is a stupid question - I know enough to be dangerous, but I'm not an expert at design by any means. I'm just frustrated because this isn't quite the "dead" file type that Adobe thinks it is. What was the point of upgrading if I'm pretty much left in the lurch?
Thanks to any and all who can help! Much appreciated . -ASI

What's important to understand is that Elements is a 'pixel' editor, not a 'vector' editor. As such, it has very limited 'vector' capacity (fonts, shapes...) What you are missing from older versions is the ability to convert vector items to standard pixel image file. To be able to open and work on eps files, you'd need Adobe Illustrator, which seems overkill for your purpose.
    So, your options are:
    - to request your ad agency to supply pdf format images instead of eps ones. My guess is that eps is beeing largely superseded by pdf, but I am not sure...
    - Use external tools to convert from eps to jpeg; a Google search would return free softwares like Irfanview or web based conversion.
    - You might want to keep (or reinstall) older Elements versions just for that purpose.

  • Option for Creating Photshop File in Premiere Pro CS6 is grayed out

Inside of Premiere Pro CS6 (Windows version), when I try to select File > New > Photoshop File...  the option is grayed out.  I have the Project panel selected and have Photoshop CS6 running when I attempt this.  Anyone have any ideas?

Well I appreciate the feedback.  I did solve the problem.  I was very wary of reinstalling software since I have so many 3rd party plug-ins that I would have to reinstall that would take forever.  I notice that in After Effects it has a similar command File > New > Adobe Photoshop file, it was NOT grayed out but errored out when I tried to run it.  It turned out that my Photoshop files were not being recoginized properly in Windows.  The PS icon would not show up in the name column of  Windows Explorer, although the Type woudl be correct.  So if you clicked on a PSD file it would not open in PS unless you opened directly from PS.   So I associated one PSD file in Windows Explorere with Photoshop CS6, which made the ICONS show up which solved all my problems in AE and Premiere.  Easy fix, once you search the entire universe back and forth and think about it for a bit. (:

  • Options for Canon RAW files?

I have a PowerPC at the office running 10.5.8. I am a graphic designer & photographer. Previously I was able to use iPhoto with my older DSLR to import Canon RAW files. I've upgraded to a Canon 60D and iPhoto no longer reads these new Canon CR2 files. As you know, CS4 is the latest version of the creative suite I can use on this Mac, and Photoshop CS4 doesn't open these RAW files either.
I checked out Adobe DNG converter but it won't run on this system.
Are there any options or is it just time to upgrade to a new Mac?

I don't currently have the install disc with me, but I can try that later when I remember to bring it with me.
I went to the Canon site to download a driver and it either is not available for my OS, or says I don't need it.
I want to do all of the above (import from camera/SD Card, open, convert/modify) in a seamless workflow. I use Lightroom 4 at home which I love but only have access to iPhoto at work.
    Thanks for the help!

  • Options for converting '.vob' files for editing in PP Pro CS3...

    Hi,
I'm using PP Pro CS3 (Windows) and I have a few projects here where the source material are '.vob' files only.
Now because PP Pro doesn't support that file format, I'm looking for options to convert this footage to a format - suitable for editing in PP Pro CS3 - that does NOT explode in file size.
Converting to uncompressed .avi is up 20 times the file size, DV .avi is about 5-10 times the file size.
Here are the options I've tried so far:
    1. importing '.vob' files straight into PP via the Avisynth method
--> works, but PP crashes randomly and it always crashes when rendering more than 2-3 min
--> all my system drivers are up to date
    2. renaming to .mpg or .avi
--> works for some files (only) but you get random red frames in your footage
    3. converting to mpeg-2 via...
    a. Carbon Coder - best quality so far - looks like original
    b. Premiere Elements 4 - no de-interlacing option, takes way too long, quality worse than original
    c. MPEGStreamclip - no options selectable, quality is worse than original
    4. converting to 'DV avi' via...
    Carbon Coder - PE 4 - MPEGStreamclip - VirtualDubMod
--> file size explodes (5-10 times of the original .vob file), quality looks on all kinda the same and NOT better than the mpeg-2 output from Carbon Coder - that's why I don't wanna take the storage hit...
Are there any other methods or ways to convert '.vob' files to a suitable editing format (with a reasonable file size) ?
    Thanx for your help !
    Mike

Take the storage hit and be done with it. Hard drives are cheap these days. Editing takes lots of space. Might as well get used to it.

  • On A Budget - Options for Using a File Server.

Hi - I have this relatively old 2008R2 file server (8GB memory and 25TB disk) I'd like to use as file storage for a SQL Server VM.  The network is a 1GB switched configuration.  The VM resides on relatively new hardware (Server 2012, SAS) but doesn't
have a lot of disk.  I'd like to make a bunch of the file server space available for SQL Server Data (2008R2) - its a small network (10 users) that we want to load a bunch of glob data indexed by a few keywords as reference.  Kind of like a
GIS database.  My first thought is to create fixed vhdx file on the file server via Hyper-V manager, but this takes days to initialize for the size I'm thinking of (10TB).  I created an expanding disk and it was pretty quick to create.  I copied
a 4GB file over the net to the mounted (from the Hyper-V Host) vhdx file and it went pretty fast.  I thought about using the iSCSI trick to attach it to the SQL VM (turning the file server into a SAN sort of?), but I'm wondering if this is overkill.
I'm just looking for a few suggestions.  There is a lot of stuff out there, some of it conflicting, about storage configuration.
    Thanks

    Yes, upgrading....
I need to emphasize the budget thing.  I will look into the iSCSI option.  The VM is Server 2012.
We might be able to convert the 2008 server to Windows 8.  It doesn't really do anything besides file shares and security is not a concern as we are not connected.  Is that an option?  Win8 supports SMB 3 I understand.
Yes you can do that. But... Older desktop versions of Windows were limited on amount of TCP connections they could handle obviously affecting usability and performance as a server. Not sure what's accurate for Windows 8 as MSFT has been changing this policy
back and forth all the time )) Check within MSFT licensing specialists before you do that.
P.S. I'd spawn FreeBSD or openSUSE with a Samba instead of a desktop version of Windows OS being used as a file server. IMHO.

  • Is the TC my fastest option for streaming media files?

I'm looking to set up a media server to stream content to all the devices connected to my home network. I know the TC itself cannot be used as a server but I have two mac mini's and I'll be running one at all times linked to either the TC or a usb drive. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction as to what setup would be best for the equipment I intend to use. Some of the video files will be blu-ray rips so they will be large and I guess my biggest concern is buffering issues.
My equipment consists of a fios router, 2nd gen mac mini running tiger, 2011 mac mini running lion, 2005 powermac G5 running tiger, latest gen TC, last gen airport extreme, last gen airport express, 3 ATV 2's, & 2 ATV 3's.
My house is a split level so it's basement on one side,  5 stairs up to ground level on the other side, 5 stairs up to living room/kitchen above basement, and then 5 stairs up to bedrooms above ground level. The router is located in the far front corner of my basement along with the TC, G5 and 2nd gen mac mini. The newer mac mini is located at the far back corner of the ground level along with an airport express. There are 3 ATV's in the bedrooms above the ground level, one in the living room, and one in the basement. I have the airport extreme with a 2TB usb drive located in a utility room pretty much center of the house in the basement. For the last year or so my setup was the airport extreme connected to the fios router using cat5e. It was configured to create a network and then I had the airport express (not wired) configured to extend the network. The signal was pretty good throughout the house but I would sometimes have buffering issues on the ATV's for the bedrooms. I figured it was because I was either using the usb drive connected to the extreme to store my media files and loosing speed there or that the ground level floor is cement and the extreme signal was having a hard time reaching the express. The TC is a brand new addition and I figured moving my media files on it's internal drive would be speed things up. Also I will now have two devices I can reposition to extend the network.
As of yesterday the new configuration is the TC creating my network connected to the fios router with cat6. I still have the extreme in the basement in the utility room only 15 ft away (I'm still using the ethernet ports for my 1st gen PS3 and sonos system). It's configured to extend the network and it's not hard wired but I do still have the cat5e ran to the utility room from where the fios router and TC are located. The express is still on the ground level not wired (can't run wire to that area) and configured to extend the network. I do have 2 other cat5e wires ran from the fios router/TC location to the utility room. I'm not sure if they were secured when I had the basement finished so I may be able to use them to pull cat6. There is a shaft from the utility room in the basement to the attic above the bedrooms. I have the ability to run them further and locate the express in my attic if I need to boost the signal.
Sorry for listing so much but I wanted to try and give as much info as possible. I've probably got a few options here but what I'm trying to do is leave the mini's in the locations they are right now and I need at least 2 wired connections to the utility room for the PS3 and the sonos.
    Any recommendations would be appreciated

I don't have time to give a complete answer.. and I think I read your first post a while ago and really got lost.. sometimes it works against you giving the full story if it looks like a thesis.
    A few basic principles..
    1. Wireless is a shared media. It cannot talk to two different devices at the same time.. each one gets a time slice. More devices.. less slice. But it is worse than that. It cannot transmit and receive at the same time.. obvious if you think about it. So it is half-duplex.. it is either transmitting or receiving.. tx or rx. When you do wireless extend.. you halve the speed.. aprox. So each packet is double handled. It is not able to tx across multiple routers at once. End result.. Avoid wireless extend (repeater in normal terminology).
    2. Roaming network is much preferred but there are limits to the number of channels especially on 2.4ghz.. effectively just 3, The only non-overlapping channels are 1, 6, 11. So if  you use wireless devices in range of each other, they must use different channels otherwise they interfere with each other.
    3. 5ghz has more channels and faster speed.. in latest equipment.. much faster. The latest TC is 450mbps on 5ghz. But you need wireless that can receive that speed to make use of it. The other side of the coin, is the range is very poor.. only one room next to the equipment gets full speed.. next room ok.. after that generally 2.4ghz is faster. Apple routers are not RF power house.. I can barely see the signal in the next room.
    4. Ethernet cables are the best. Use ethernet everywhere. Cat5 or Cat6 makes little difference. Both can do gigabit .. just the distance is limited on cat5 but you will seldom see that. Ethernet networks have opposite characteristic of the wireless network.. it can talk to multiple computers at the same time.. it can tx and rx at the same time.. so it is hugely better.
    5. Multiple access to the media store is going to stress the computer hard drive access speeds. As I see your layout, you could be streaming multiple programs at once to different rooms. Even a purely ethernet system will have issues.. if you expect multiple bluray rips to run to multiple locations at the same time. Over wireless it just isn't going to work.

  • I have 1920x1080 files to edit in iMovie to show on large movie screen for charity event what is best frame rate and best save option for quality versus file size?

I shoot a lot of HD video of my kid, and at first I struggled to find a good balance between maintaining the full-resolution original footage and having something a little more reasonable and lightweight to work with. For example, even on my one-year-old iMac, I can't smoothly scrub the full HD video clips in the editor -- but if the clips have been 'optimized' to 960 x 540, they're smooth as butter (and still look good enough for almost every output scenario).
If, when you're importing the original footage, you enable the "Optimize video" checkbox, you'll get the lightweight version in your event library, but you won't get a copy of the orignal footage as well. It'll still be on your camera (or wherever else you put it before heading to iMovie), but that's not very helpful.
If you're using iMovie '09 (v.8) or '11 (v.9), there's a decent way to do this that isn't terribly obvious.
    So here's what I do:
When importing the original footage, disable the 'Optimize video' checkbox, and select the 'Move files' radio button. This will move the full HD clip into /[selected volume]/iMovie Events/[event title]. (Or you can use 'Copy files' and get the same end result.)
Select the new event in the Event Library in iMovie, and go to File » Optimize Video » Large -- 960x540 (or 'Full,' which is still going to be more compressed than the original HD, but at the same resolution; I find 'Large' to be just fine for my needs, though).
That second step takes the original HD clip that was in /[selected volume]/iMovie Events/[event title] and moves it into /[selected volume]/iMovie Original Movies/[event title], and then puts the optimized version into /[selected volume]/iMovie Events/[event title].
Now you've got a fully organized directory structure containing all of your original HD footage, sorted by event, plus an Event Library full of nice lightweight versions for quick editing and exporting.

Thanks for that info! Even in my time answering questions on iMovie Discussion Group, I never had a good understanding of when and how Optimize Movie came into play. I always would import as Optimized and Large Size and figured that was good enough. But knowing you got much, much more flexibility doing it the way you describe gives me a much better understanding of the different routes you can take into the Event Library.
