  • "end of file error" of reading blocks in binary.

    I wrote some example data in binary format.
    Then read it again but met error 4.
    The read function reads 64 byte without problem.
    After this the file positioner will be located in end of file.
    Any special care is needed?

    I got to know the problem.
    Count means the number of data. not byte number.

  • Getting ORA-24801: error when reading a CLOB data using BufferReader

    I am getting the "ORA-24801: illegal parameter value in OCI lob function", when reading a CLOB using a BufferedReader, i am using "oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver" for creating a connection pool and using Oracle 9.2.0.7 with Weblogic 8.1 SP 5. My code looks like this,
    oracle.sql.CLOB c_lob = null;
    c_lob = ( oracle.sql.CLOB)stmt.getClob(7);
    BufferedReader in1 = new BufferedReader(c_lob.getCharacterStream());
    char buffer[] = new char[1];
    int i;
    while((i = in1.read(buffer)) != -1)
    The error is coming at "in1.read(buffer)".

    Hi,
    Your buffer size should be the clob size.
    char[] buffer = new char[c_lob.getBufferSize()];
    Also, set the value for i as -1.
    You could see the sample on OTN for help:

  • ORA-28522 error when reading data from DB2 via hsodbc

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to connect to a DB2 database running on an AS/400 system, via Oracle HS.
    I'm using Oracle 9.2.08. The DB2 version is V4R5.
    My ODBC DSN is called TEST_odbc.
    The initTEST_sid.ora file contains the following:
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = TEST_odbc
    My Listener.ora file contains the following:
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC0))
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = vm-dashboarddemo)(PORT = 1521))
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (PROGRAM = hsodbc)
    (ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle\ora92)
    (SID_NAME = TEST_sid)
    My TNSNames.ora file contains:
    TEST_name =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = VM-DASHBOARDDEMO)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = TEST_sid)
    (HS = OK)
    When I use TNSPing, I get a successful result:

    OK (10 msec)
    I can then login to SQLPlus as SYSDBA, and create a database link:
    SQL> create database link TEST_link connect to "<username>" identified by "<password>" using 'TEST_name';
    Database link created.
    So far everything seems to be going well.
    But then, when I try and select some data from the linked database, i get the following:
    SQL> select * from <tablename>@TEST_link;
    select * from <tablename>@TEST_link

    Does anyone have any ideas? I'd love to get this solved!!
    Many Many Thanks,
    River

    I should have mentioned that I know that the table exists in the database.
    The main reason I'm trying to do this is because I'm trying to get the data from the DB2 DB into my Oracle DB. I have been trying the EXP utility, which gives me a different error code:

  • ORA-00204:

    hi,
    I got the error in oracle 10g Xe.
    ORA-00204: error in reading (block 3, # blocks 8) of control file
    ORA-00202: control file: 'C:\ORACLEXE\ORADATA\XE\CONTROL.DBF'
    ORA-27091: unable to queue I/O
    ORA-27070: async read/write failed
    OSD-04006: ReadFile() failure, unable to read from file
    O/S-Error: (OS 23) Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

    Some basic education on how to read an error stack.
    The errors are given in descending order - the top most error is typically the application error. The errors beneath it go into more and more technical/explicit detail of what went wrong, usually down to the operating system level.
    Thus the cause of the (application) exception at the top of the error stack is the (system) exception at the bottom of the stack. If we only look at the top and bottom errors, then:
    ORA-00204: error in reading (block 3, # blocks 8) of control fileOracle error, saying that it failed attempting to read a file. Why? The bottom error says:
    O/S-Error: (OS 23) Data error (cyclic redundancy check).O/S error obviously means that this is from the operating system. It tried to perform the file I/O requested by Oracle (application layer) and it failed. It reports a CRC data error on the file.
    So is this an Oracle problem? No, the root error is from the o/s and it reports a CRC error on a file.
    So should you have even asked for assistance here? Or should your first stop not have been going on google (or bling/yahoo/whatever) and searching "+windows+" (the o/s in question) and "+cyclic redundancy check+" (the error reported by the o/s)? Perhaps even throw "+ntfs+" into the search too (assuming that this is the file system being used).
    One of the most important skills for a software engineer is the ability to solve problems - not technical details (like what is a CRC error?). The technical stuff you can look up in the reference docs and material. But if you do not try to understand a simple error stack and analyse the problem, you will never acquire the skill to solve problems. • ORA-27067 Error while restoring database using RMAN

    Hi All,
    I am trying to restore the backups from my production database to an other server. I was able to restore the spfile and control files but at the step where I restore the datafiles I get the following error:
    RMAN-03002: failure of restore command at 11/03/2008 14:28:16
    ORA-19587: error occurred reading 0 bytes at block number 1
    ORA-27091: skgfqio: unable to queue I/O
    ORA-27067: skgfdisp: size of buffer is invalid
    The OS and the Oracle version on the source server (on which the backups were taken) and the target server (the backups being restored to) are the same. They both are running SUNOS 5.9 and Oracle 9.2. I

    Can anyone help me resolve this error?
    Thanks,
    Ashok

    Hi,
    We finally got this issue resolved. I think the error was because the source database server was running 64 bit Oracle 9.2.0 and we installed a 32 bit Oracle 9.2.0 database on the target server. We then did a fresh install of 64 bit Oracle 9.2.0 database on the target server and the restoration worked. Also, after copying all the backup files to the target DB server, change the access rights of all those files and the folder containing them to 777.
    Thanks,
    Ashok

    I did what Prabhu told me..But i recovered using backup controlfile and when i was asked to apply logs..i applied my oldest logs and it worked
    Like i have two groups with two members each
    I applied log1a.dbf and it said media recovery completee
    I opened the database But then it started giving me errors for undo tablespace
    I made another undo tablespace..tried dropping the old one but it did not permitted as it had some segments with status "needs recovery"
    Than i added this parameter in pfile with the correupted segment and than tried to drop the segment but it still did not permit
    corruptedrollback_segments =(corrupted_undo segment_name)
    Next what i did was I mounted the database, ran another session of media recovery and opened the databse using resetlogs
    Than i dropped the old undo and it went through successfully..
    If you think anything i did wrong than please advice..
    I hope this action plans helps you in case you come across same errors some day
    I would be very thankful if you can refer me a document of recovery which covers all kinds of recoveries and scenarios and commands too
    Thanks alot
