ORA-00439 error while Creating Roles
Hi All,
I am using Oracle 10.2.0.3. When I am trying to create role for ex: :"create role rolename identied globally" I am getting ORA-00439 Error. When I search in v$option view, almost all the values are disabled. Can anybody pls. let me know how to enable the features in v$option or the solution for the above error code.
Appreciate your earlier response.
Bhanu.
I don't have much exposure to the feature,
you can check Oracle document Configuring Enterprise User Security for Password Authentication
Are you sure you want to use this feature? or you could just create the role identified externally instead of globally.

ORA-12571 error while creating packages from Windows clients
Hello,
We are facing the ORA-12571 error while creating / replacing packages from Windows Clients connected to a 8.1.7.2.0 db on a Solaris server.
However, there are
1. no errors in connecting and creating transactions from a Sql session
2. no errors in creating / replacing unwrapped/wrapped small (few lines) packages
3. no errors in connecting from a Unix session (remote telnet sessions inclusive).
This happens only when creating wrapped/unwrapped packages, source code of which is greater than 500 kb approx.
Can somebody help me resolve this issue. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards.
Lakshmanan, KUpdate: I had unintentionally left my custom tablespace in READONLY state after an earlier experiment with transportable tablespaces. After putting the tablespace back into READ WRITE mode and creating a new template, I was successfully able to create a new db from the template.
I'm still a little curious why this procedure wouldn't work properly with a READONLY tablespace, however.

Oracle 8i, Getting ORA-1501 error while creating new DB
Hi folks,
I am trying create a new database on an HP Machine (Details given below) but getting following error.
ORA-1501 - signalled during Create Database
LOGFILE 'G:\logfiles\logaf1.ora'
We actually have a custom application setup.exe to create new database.
Same setup when installed on a different low end machine works fine.
Before begining the setup in summary page it shows following information.
Block buffer count = -3 Bytes
Shared Pool Size = -41425 KBytes
Yes the values displayed are in negative.
Don't know if this is the reason for the ORA-1501 error.
Can anyone please suggest how to resolve this issue.
Machine configuration is as follows:
H/W details:
HP Server with RAID configuration
4, PIII CPU's
RAM: "4 GB"
S/W details
O.S:Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack-2
Oracle Version: 8i
Patch applied: Oracle8i Patch Set Version 8.1.7.3.0Try look to alert<SID>.log file for full error report (you could paste it here).
Also from alert log you could get real values for db_block_buffers and shared_pool_size parameters that used during instance startup. -
Error while creating roles in CMC
Hi experts
I installed sap integraiton kit in my system.Though i have installed in my system i am unable to acces my infoview , so copied some files for java connector --sapjco.jar should be copied to the shared library folder of the application server
\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\shared\lib) and the file sapjcorfc.dll to %windir%\system32).
Now started logging into infoview it is showing some errors like no roles. so i entered into CMC and went to authentications--> then sap >entitlement system and created logical system name.-> to options and enabled sap authentications and updated.
Now the problem coming up is with the roles of sap.
When i am entering into role import tab it is showing some error like this * com/sap/mw/jco/JCO$Function *.
So what is the thing I need to solve this, please do help me out..
Thank youHi,
Please check below SAP notes..
1292144 - JCO error when Importing SAP Roles in CMC
1274700 - SAP Role Import error: com/sap/mw/jco/JCO$Function

ORA-01152 error while creating db from custom template
I have a database based on the "general purpose/transaction processing" db, but with a custom tablespace/data added. I have attempted to clone this database by using dbca to create a custom template (including data) from this database. The template creation appears to be successful -- however, when I use dbca to try to create a new db from this custom template, I get the following error when dbca attempts to initialize the instance:
ORA-01152: file 5 was not restored from a sufficiently old backup
ORA-01110: data file 5: <path to my custom tablespace .dbf>
If I select "ignore" at this point, I get further errors, the next error is
ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PLS-00201: Identifier 'DBMS_SERVICE.DELETE_SERVICE' must be declared
I'm using 11gR2, and am relatively inexperienced on the dba side, any help appreciated.
Thanks,
BenUpdate: I had unintentionally left my custom tablespace in READONLY state after an earlier experiment with transportable tablespaces. After putting the tablespace back into READ WRITE mode and creating a new template, I was successfully able to create a new db from the template.
I'm still a little curious why this procedure wouldn't work properly with a READONLY tablespace, however.

ORA-27123 error while creating database
I am using dbca to attempt to create a database after installing 9i on a dual-CPU linux box running Red Hat 7.3.
When I click 'finish' on the database creation wizard, everything appeared to be correct, but I receive an error message indicating that Oracle is unable to attach to shared memory segment.
Additional information is that the machine has 640MB memory and a 40 GB disk drive.
It seems like I may have received this during the installation process, but can't be sure. Would that indicate that the installation didn't complete successfully?
Any help would be appreciated.Try this one
*ORA-27123: unable to attach to shared memory segment.
I saw this error only in connection with Oracle 9i R2 (9.2.0) installation.
This error message showed up when the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant was running. I executed the following command to temporarely increase the maximum shared memory size:
As root:
# cat /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax
33554432
# echo `expr 1024 \* 1024 \* 1024` > /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax
# cat /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax
1073741824
Then click "Retry" for the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant.
It is recommended to increase the shmmax setting permanently for Oracle. So if you want to increase the maximum shared memory size permanently, add the following line to the /etc/sysctl.conf file:
kernel.shmmax=1073741824
I'm not quiet sure yet what the maximum size of the shared memory really should be. Also when you combine the Installation Guide with the Release Notes, you will see that other parameter(s) need to be changed as well. As soon as I have taken a
closer look at these issues, I will post the results here. But the temporary increase of the maximum shared memory size should keep you going to get Oracle9i (9.2.0) installed. -
ORA-12547 error while creating new database through dbca
i installed oracle 10g R2 on parallels virtuozzo container. (it is a product similar to openvz and solaris containers)
added: oracle version is 10.2.0.1.0
the installation goes off without too much fuss but when i try to create a general purpose database through dbca it throws up an error
ORA-12547 : TNS lost contact
my listener is up and runing and did stop and restart it. i also created a new listener after deleting the previous one.
still the error persists.

just to add to issues which i faced during installation on virtuozzo containers. containers does not allow me to create a swap space. but i had to ignore the error and go ahead with the installation with most of the steps followed from http://wiki.openvz.org/Oracle_10g_VE.

Hi,
i have created a new procedure to import a file on the machine to the database BLOB object. the procedure ran succesfully in the SQL prompt. In the Oracle forms builder, I created a new button and on the WHEN_BUTTON_PRESSED PL/SQL logic, i pasted the same procedure. But I got ORA-00439 error while running the form and clicked on the button. Could anyone of you help me out? Is that something to do with any restrictions on Forms?
Below is the code that i used in the PL/SQL logic of WHEN_BUTTON_PRESSED event.
declare
src_file BFILE; -- source file
dst_file BLOB; -- designation file
lgh_file BINARY_INTEGER; -- file length
pdname VARCHAR2(255) := '/appl/pce/d1/eai/informatica/Temp/';
pfname VARCHAR2(255) := 'router.cfg';
file_readonly CONSTANT BINARY_INTEGER := 0;
BEGIN
src_file := bfilename('RNDVPVOUS', pfname);
-- insert a NULL record to lock
INSERT INTO temp1
(name, file_1)
VALUES
(pdname, EMPTY_BLOB())
RETURNING file_1 INTO dst_file;
-- lock record
SELECT file_1
INTO dst_file
FROM temp1
WHERE name = pdname
FOR UPDATE;
-- Open the file
dbms_lob.fileopen(src_file, file_readonly);
-- Determine length
lgh_file := dbms_lob.getlength(src_file);
-- read the file
dbms_lob.loadfromfile(dst_file, src_file, lgh_file);
-- Update the blob field
UPDATE temp1
SET file_1 = dst_file
WHERE name = pdname;
commit;
-- Close file
dbms_lob.fileclose(src_file);
END load_file;
I'm also sending the version details of Forms Builder below.

Please help me out in this regard as I have an urgent release this weekend.
Cheers
SarmaThank you very much. This problem is now solved as I have used FORMS_DDL to execute the procedure from database and not from Forms. But could anyone of you tell me if we can have a link in Forms for BLOB object, where if there is a word document in the database BLOB object, by clicking on that link, that document should open in word. Similarly if there is an image file in the BLOB object, then clicking on that link in Forms should open it some Image processing software which that OS has. Is this really possible? Please let me know. If we update the contents of the document opened, they should get reflected in the database BLOB object. Is this really a HERCULIAN task?

Thanks,
Shaik MohiuddinThis error occurs when you try to create a materialized view , but if you run the sql the results are perfectly fine. Well it happend to me also and to fix this I made sure all the coulmns have the same data type which are used in joins or in where clause.
use
where
to_number(col1)=to_number(col2) and to_number(col3)=to_number(col4)
hope this helps.. -
