Hi,
This is the error message(below) that i am getting while restarting http server after modification.

An error was encountered trying to retrieve configuration data.
Failed to initialize configuration management user session.. An error occurred when attempting to connect to the Database. Resolution: Make sure that the database and listener are up. If the database is up, make sure that the OracleAS Repository API files ias.properties and iasschema.xml are correctly configured. If necessary, use the EM Console to reconfigure the host, user name and password associated with the database Base Exception: java.sql.SQLException ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied . Can you give bit more details? Is this HTTP Server (assuming you are talking about Oracle HTTP Server - OHS) part of Oracle Application Server or Oracle Database? What version? How are you starting it (what command)? What modifications did you make?

I'm using Reports 9.0.4.0.19 and I recreated the scenario without any issues. I'm just wondering what would happen if you wrapped the :address_lines in nvl's in case 10g cares.

Installation error message for Oracle Database software for version 10g

Would someone be able to advise why I keep getting the following error message whilst installing Oracle trial Database software for version 10g Release 2 Standard Edition, Standard Edition One, and Enterprise Edition? Link listed below : -

Below is the 12 steps that I go through, please advise what I'm doing wrong : -
1. (Operations) default is Create a database
2. (Database templetes) default is general purpose
3. (Database Identification) projemp.local for Global database name & projemp for SID
4. (Management options) default is "Configure the database with Enterprise manager, also the options button has been clicked for "Use database control for database management"
5. (Database Credentials) the options button has been clicked for "Use the same password for all accounts" so I've set up a new password, was that correct?
6. (Storage options) the options button is clicked for "File System - use the file system for database storage.
7. (Database file locations) the options button is clicked for "Use database file locations for template" Is this option correct? Other options are Use common location for all database files or use Oracle-managed files?
8. (Recovery configuration) the options button is clicked for "Specify flash recovery area
9. (Database content) nothing has been selected, the only option is "Sample schemas" should that be clicked?
10. (Initialization parameters) the options button is clicked for "Typical- allocate memory as a % of the total physical memory
11. (Database storage) no options available
12. (Creation options) the options button has been selected for "Create Database"
Click finish
I then get a screen stating General purpose, click OK then I get the following error message as stated at the start of this e-mail ""Cannot create directory"C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_7\cfgtoollogs\dbca\projemp".

I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 bit operating system, and my computer is saying I have 142 GB free space.
If you read the installation manual that came with the downloaded software, you'd have seen in the prerequisites that Home editions of Windows are NOT listed as supported platforms, whereas Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions specifically ARE listed as supportd.

Error while installing Oracle 10g on Solaris 9 x86

Hi all,
I got several error after install oracle 10g. After I run the root.sh. It prompt :
Starting Oracle CSS service under init(1M)
Expecting the CRS daemons to be up within 120 seconds.
Giving up: Oracle CSS stack appears NOT to be running.
and when I start sqlplus, it prompt:
ERROR:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
Intel SVR4 UNIX Error: 2: No such file or directory
and following the error message prompt every minutes.
"oracle: (Oracle CSSD will be run out of init)"
"root: Failure in CSS initialization opening OCR."
I don't think reinstall oracle will solve my problem if I don't figure out what going wrong. Could anyone tell me what I need to do? Thanks very much for helping.

Check also if the t-bit is set:
[root@vtl1g121 ~]# ls -dl /tmp
drwxrwxrwt 11 root root 4096 Apr 10 11:44 /tmp
This is needed to mark the filesystem/directory as temporary.
Sometimes this can cause such problems also
Command: chmod +t /tmp

Forms Developer: ORA-12560 error message

I am a novice Oracle 10g user, and have reached a dead-end regarding opening an existing form (.fmb) in Forms Builder. The ORA-12560 error message is generated:
"TNS protocol error". Consulting OTN, I learned that the Oracle SID service is required to be started for a form to be displayed in a web browser. When I checked the services window in XP Professional, I found OracleServiceOrcl to be started. I also specifed iexplore.exe to in the Runtime tab in Forms Builder Preferences. Any assistance with this issue will be appreciated.

Looks like the "@" is used to separate the parameters which is new to me. Normally it's either "&" or "+". You can set the separator somewhere, cannot thou remember where? Registry? Also the userid isn't complete. The database name is missing, and even if it was there. How could the server know what's what? I mean, connect is done by user/pass@db, and if "@" is used as a separator...

ORA-00054 error when loading Oracle table using Data Services

Hello,
we are facing ORA-00054 error when loading Oracle table using BO Data services
(Oracle 10g database, BODS Xi 3.2 SP3)
Test Job performs
1- truncate table
2- load table (tested in standard and bulk load modes)
Scenario when issue happens is:
1- Run loading Job
2- Job end in error for any Oracle data base error
3- When re-running the same Job, Job fails with following error
ORA-00054: resource busy and acquire with NOWAIT specified
It seems after first failure, Oracle session for loading the table stays active and locks the table.
To be able to rerun the Job, we are forced need to kill Oracle session manually to be able to run the Job again.
Expected behaviour would be : on error rollback modifications made on table and BODS stops Oracle session in a clean way.
Can somebody tell me / or point me to any BODS best practice about Oracle error handling to prevent such case?

the ora-0054 can occure depending how the job failed before. If this occures you will need the DBA to release the lock on the table in question
Or
AL_Engine.exe on The server it creates the Lock. Need to Kill Them. Or stop it..

ORA - 01591 error message

Hello there!
I wonder if anyone could help us on this. We are using Oracle 7.3.4 and have created a public db link with another database that resides in a mainframe. We took an ORA - 01591 error message when we tried to update a table of the remote database from a stored procedure(using the db link). The strange thing is that noone was dealing with the specific table at the moment !!
What happened?? I lost the tables that took part in the transaction because we couldn't rebuild them neither could we manually end the in doupt transaction.
Any ideas why that kind of thing happened ??? How possible is to take the same error message??

The error message ORA_12203 TNS- unable to connect to destination prompts at every attempt.
I have checked the net easy configuration for the protocols and the sqlnet and tnsnames in the admin files of the network folder

Error while installing Oracle 10g on Fedora Core 1. After 40% of the Installation is thru, the progress bar is showing 40%, it gives error "Not connected to Oracle" and the installation has to be terminated.
We have tried by using the on-line procedure and changing the required script to make believe it as said.

I added a DFF through create item "flex" in iRecruitment (View applicants page).I am getting the following message:
"The flexfield listener failed while getting the value for segment Job Title from column ASS_ATTRIBUTE1 of the descriptive flexfield with application short name PER and name PER_ASSIGNMENTS. Please contact your system administrator. The exception error message was: oracle.jbo.NoDefException: JBO-25002: Definition AssAttribute1 of type Attribute not found".

ORA-17008 error message

Hello users, I'm having a connection problem in SQL Developer and am not able to run any queries on the SQL worksheet.
I get either a popup window with the following ORA-17008 error message:
"An error was encountered performing the requested operation"
Closed Connection
Vendor code 17008
Or this msg on the Script Output window: "SQL Error: No more data to read from socket"
I've been using SQL Developer for months now and this is the first time I encounter this problem. I ran the same queries last week
succesfully so this is not a syntax issue. I'm using version 2.1.0.62 with a Basic connection.
Does anybody know how to fix this? so far I haven't found any solutions. Thanks,

I saw a similar problem once on a completely different application running on an IBM AIX box with IPv6 enabled by default, it was related to a problem in the JDBC driver which could not handle really well connections with IPv6 and it was solved by disabling the IPv6 features of the OS.
Please post your OS details, and while you are at it you can try disabling IPv6 if you have recently turned it on.
If you are in a hurry you can switch from JDBC based connection to OCI, but you will need to install an 11G client (or instant client).
