No, you are not.
- You are not using the correct version doc vs. Oracle server version. Try to find the same suggestion in the relevant doc.
- The doc you reference specifically says "... it can be used only under special circumstances. The ALTER DATABASE CHARACTER SET statement does not perform any data conversion, so it can be used +if and only if the new character set is a strict superset of the current character set+." (emphasis is mine)
You do not have a strict superset.
- Also the special clauses you have used are not documented - for a reason.
Please edit your posts above to remove the ill-advice (steps with internal use only clauses) that does not belong on a forum.

7445 errors are internal you need to contact oracle support, and also for work around you can pass those arguments in *Troubleshoot an ORA-600 or ORA-7445 Error Using the Error Lookup Tool [ID 7445.1]*
due to 7445 erros database was hung up/not responeded, so may be it is the reason for 3113 errors(inbound connection timeout)

Assuming you want Apple to look at iPhone without a charge a good way to
start is to show you have tried the standard troubleshooting as I
suggested.
These are described in the user manual and even under warranty
the genius bar will expect these to have been tried before they spend time
looking at an iPhone as normally these steps fix most issues
However it is up to you

ORA-12500 error while refreshing webi report
Hi All,
The problem looks simple, but i am struck with this. I am trying to refresh a webi report in BO XI R3.1, it throws the error "DBD: ORA-12500: TNS:listener failed to start a dedicated server process". It looks like there is no issue with the tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora.whar could be the other cause for this issue ? Any input will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Thanks
RajHi,
You need to fix up the issue on the Oracle D/B side first prior to testing on WebI.
Try this link, it explains the error encountered in more details.
http://ora-12500.ora-code.com/
Simply put, can you use client tool (e.g. TOAD) to log into Oracle D/B using the same machine?
Fix up the connection then WebI will work.

Although there seems other sequence populating the AUDIT_LOG table through a different sequence with the increment of +10. So till now there are already 1179 different numbers residing in audit_log.seq_no and yet to be generated by the TEMP_AUDIT_SEQ sequence. I will look into more details.

ORA-29855: error occurred in the execution of ODCIINDEXCREATE routine
I am receiving the following error from FME(safe software) when creating a spatial index. I have ruled out several of the common causes as reported in this forum because the procedure works for dataset with 300,000 rows of less but fails with the full dataset of 455,412 rows.
I am using 10G 10.2.0.2.0 - 64bi
Any hints/tips would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Richard

The error does ocurr when I try to create the index from SQL, see message text below.
With the spatial index creation disabled in FME the run completes sucessfully, so the data is ok, well thats a maybe.
So I omitted the first 200,000 input rows and ran the last 255,413 rows and the index was sucessfully created (in FME) so now I conclude that the data IS ok (I had previously done a successful run with the first 300,000 rows)
Therefore I am thinking that my database has a problem when it is asked to create a spatial index with the full 455,412 rows. Could this be configuration, a space problem . . . .
Any more suggestions?
Thanks
Richard

Hi,
I'm getting an intermittent ORA-00942 (Table or View Does Not Exist) error in Oracle 9i. We're getting it in several different packages, and they all have one thing in common.
They are all either joining to a table type that had previously been populated with a BULK COLLECT INTO or a temp table that was populate with a CAST (from the same table type) or has a TABLE CAST directly in the join.
This is the type:
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE fe_id_tab AS TABLE OF INTEGER NOT NULL;
This is the table:
create global temporary table FE_TMP_ID
ID INTEGER not null
on commit delete rows;
Again, this is an intermittent error. It only happens occasionally, and when it does happen, if you immediately run the same query, it works fine.
Thanks,

Yes, it is a problem with data dictionay or some other issue.

Accessing DB2 data through DBLINK in Java program recieves ORA-02063 error
Hello,
Is it posible to access a mainframe DB2 table through a Java JDBC connection utilizing a DBLink / Synonym. Using Toad or SQLDeveloper, I can select the DB2 data just fine. Also, PL/SQL programs can access the data without issues. When I try to select data from the DB2 Table in a Java program, I get ORA-01002: fetch out of sequence -- ORA-02063 preceding line from DB2D errors.
The code I am using to test is:
(Note: TBL_LOC_ADR is the Synonym that points to the Mainfram DB2 table)
public static void main(String[] args) {
Connection con = null;
Statement stmt = null;
String query = "SELECT * FROM tbl_loc_adr";
ResultSet rs;
try {
System.out.println("Getting connection");
con = BatchDBConnection.getDBConnection();
TestConnection tc = new TestConnection();
System.out.println("Creating ps");
stmt = con.createStatement();
System.out.println("Calling qds");
rs = stmt.executeQuery(query);
System.out.println(" Returned data " );
} catch (Exception e) {
System.out.println("Error " + e.getMessage());
e.printStackTrace();
The error occurs on the rs = stmt.executeQuery(query); line.
Thanks for any input into this error. It's been driving me nuts all day.
ChrisChris,
What's your oracle version? You might be hitting a bug as identified in this metalkink doc id, see if this helps out. Resolution posted in the metalink by applying patches or confirm that you have applied all the required patches.

Hi all,
In my project, I use C# .net and Oracle 11g. I use ADO.NET OracleClob object in my C# code which will be passed to a procedure (procedure defined in a package) where I convert the input clob/wkt geometry into SDO_GEOMETRY using SDO_UTIL.FROM_WKTGEOMETRY and subsequently the GEOMETRY can be pushed into a table as shown below.
PROCEDURE insert_extent(p_key_id IN NUMBER, p_extent IN CLOB) AS
m_geom SDO_GEOMETRY;
BEGIN
m_geom := SDO_UTIL.FROM_WKTGEOMETRY(p_extent);
UPDATE TEMP SET GEOM = m_geom
WHERE IDS = p_key_id;
COMMIT;
END insert_extent;
The above code is working fine for small size clob inputs, but, I have encountered ORA-00932 error when my clob/wkt geometry was more than 30MB in size.
Can any one tell me what is the limitation of size of the clob to convert the CLOB to SDO_GEOMETRY and is there any limitaion on SDO_GEOMETRY datatype object to write the geometry into a table as well via insert/update statement.
Also share your thoughts on how to resolve the issue.
Please let me know if further information is required and thanks for the help in advance.
Regards,

ORA-28545: error diagnosed by Net8 when connecting to an agent error
Hi,
I've to setup the Oracle Gateway service in order to access the SQL Server 2005 db from Oracle11g 11.1.0.7.0 db which is running on a LINUX os.
Basically, i've to periodically PULL data from SQL Server to oracle.
Have done the necessary setup as specified in Oracle docs.
1. Oracle ini file: initdg4msql.ora
HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=999.168.0.1:1433//SqlServerDb
HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL=OFF
HS_FDS_RECOVERY_ACCOUNT=sqlserver_user_id
HS_FDS_RECOVERY_PWD=sqlserver_user_password
2. listener.ora entry
LISTENER_GATEWAY =
(DESCRIPTION_LIST =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = oracle.portal.internal)(PORT = 1522))
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1522))
SID_LIST_LISTENER =
(SID_LIST =
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = OBIM1)
(ORACLE_HOME = /app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1)
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = dg4msql)
(ORACLE_HOME = /app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1)
(ENVS=LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/dg4msql/driver/lib;/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/lib)
(PROGRAM = dg4msql)
3. tnsnames.ora entry
dg4msql =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = tcp)(HOST = oracle.portal.internal)(PORT = 1522))
(CONNECT_DATA =(SID = dg4msql))
(HS = OK)
4. Create database link on oracle
create public database link sqlserver connect to "sqlserver_user_id" identified by "sqlserver_user_password" using 'dg4msql';
Database link created.
Upon the completion of the configuration, I did the following and all are successful and working:
- starting the listener by
lsnrctl start LISTENER_GATEWAY
- tnsping my gateway
tnsping dg4msql
However, when I tried to retreive data and got the following error:
SQL> desc myTestingTable@sqlserver;
ERROR:
ORA-28545: error diagnosed by Net8 when connecting to an agent
Unable to retrieve text of NETWORK/NCR message 65535
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from SQLSERVER
I have stepped through the doc of "How to Setup DG4MSQL (Oracle Database Gateway for MS SQL Server) Release 11" but unable to figure out where the error lies.
Any inputs on this?? please help, I am in urgent.Hi Mike,
As suggested, I have tried both formats with the spaces at the front. When I tried to start the listener, still get the error as show below:
Starting /app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/bin/tnslsnr: please wait...

As answers to your points -
- you have the HOST defined as -
(HOST = oracle.portal.internal)
is this the actual host name or did you change it to hide it in the post ?
*** It is just a mark up host for security reason
- what happens if you use the IP address instead of the hostname ?
*** Have tried the IP address but same error
- is the gateway installed in the directory /app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1 ?
*** Yes
- can you set up listener level 16 tracing and check the trace file for further information about the errors ? Add this to the listener.ora file -
trace_level_listener=16
and start the listener.
*** Have added the trace level 16 and tried to start the listener but same error. Please refer the snapshot from the log.xml. Please note that the host_id "oracle" is just a make-up.

- I have repeated the same steps above by changing the SID_LIST_LISTENER_GATEWAY back to SID_LIST_LISTENER parameter in LISTENER.ORA
