ORA-04068 on 11g RAC does not resolve automatically !

Did you ever get the combination of these three ORAs?
ORA-04068: Existing state of package has been discarded
ORA-04065: Not executed, altered or dropped stored procedure <PROCEDURE_NAME>
ORA-06508: PL/SQL: Could not find program unit being called: <PROCEDURE_NAME>
*1st I checked for invalid objects in the database, there are none!*
*2nd Then I checked the metalink note 1058873.1 that describes a similar error:*
In hecheck output, we see that the objects affected are listed as "Dependency$ p_timestamp > > mismatch for VALID objects".
Also, the following script can be used for finding the mismatches:
set pagesize 10000
column d_name format a20
column p_name format a20
select do.obj# d_obj,do.name d_name, do.type# d_type,
po.obj# p_obj,po.name p_name,
to_char(p_timestamp,'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS') "P_Timestamp",
to_char(po.stime ,'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS') "STIME",
decode(sign(po.stime-p_timestamp),0,'SAME','*DIFFER*') X
from sys.obj$ do, sys.dependency$ d, sys.obj$ po
where P_OBJ#=po.obj#(+)
and D_OBJ#=do.obj#
and do.status=1 /*dependent is valid*/
and po.status=1 /*parent is valid*/
and po.stime!=p_timestamp /*parent timestamp not match*/
order by 2,1;However, the query returned 0 rows.
*3rd Then I read about similar errors on http://oraclequirks.blogspot.com/2007/03/ora-04061-existing-state-of-package-has.html*
The article describes the state of package being invalidated when one user calls a procedure in a package that has a global variable and changes the value of the global variable and then when a developer compiles that package, another user will get the error ORA-04061: existing state of package has been invalidated the first time he calls the procedure, but the second time it will work without returning errors.
However, my error is persistant and Oracle can't resolve it automatically.
Here's how the error occurs:
- I have a PACKAGE that has a global variable and procedures
- User1 connects to Instance1 and calls a procedure inside the PACKAGE. The procedure sets the value of the global variable by calling a function outside the package.
For example: L_GLOBAL_VAR := OUTSIDE_FUNCTION(30);
- The developer compiles the PACKAGE
- User1 can continue working normaly - he receives the 1st error by Oracle informing him that the value of the global variable has changed (normal behaviour), but the second time he calls the procedure inside the PACKAGE, no errors are reported.
- User2 connects to the second instance of the RAC (Instance2)
- When User2 tries to call the same procedure, he constantly gets ORA errors (ORA-04068, ORA-04065, ORA-06508), like this:
ORA-04068: Existing state of package has been discarded
ORA-04065: Not executed, altered or dropped stored procedure "OUTSIDE_FUNCTION"
ORA-06508: PL/SQL: Could not find program unit being called: "OUTSIDE_FUNCTION"
ORA-06512: at "PACKAGE2", line 1920
ORA-06512: at "PACKAGE2", line 265The PACKAGE2 has a procedure which is being called at line 265, and that procedure calls the function OUTSIDE_FUNCTION at line 1920.
Symptoms:
- User2 cannot correct the error by repeatingly calling the PACKAGE procedure.
- The developer cannot resolve the issue by recompiling the PACKAGE.
- The developer can only temporarily resolve the issue by recompiling the OUTSIDE_FUNCTION. After doing it, the User2 does not receive errors. However, if the User2 reconnects, the error returns.
- The solution is to recompile the PACKAGE2. After doing it, the User2 does not receive errors.
However, I'm totally confused by this Oracle behaviour.
I told the developers that they shouldn't compile packages while there are users working on the database (a possible solution), but as a developer I know that is very very hard on a 24/7 production database, especially if there are some urgent bugs to resolve etc.
We were working on a single instance Oracle 9i database before upgrading to Oracle 11g RAC (11.2.0.1.0), and we never had similar problems.
I would be very grateful for any suggestions regarding this issue.
Thanks,
Daniel

Hi P. Forstmann,
Thanks for your answer. I've read about the edition based redefinition but if I understand it correctly, that's not exactly what I'm looking for.
For example, if a connected user reports a bug that prevents her from doing her work, the developers should resolve that bug ASAP and recompile the objects in question, which should affect the connected users.

  • Migration from 9i to 11g Transparent Gateway results in a) ORA-12704: character set mismatch b) ORA-02070: database ... does not support SYS_OP_C2C in this context

    Migration from 9i to 11g Transparent Gateway results in a) ORA-12704: character set mismatch b) ORA-02070: database ... does not support SYS_OP_C2C in this context
    What Transparent Gateway (TG) 11g configuration steps prevent the following errors?:
    a) ORA-12704: character set mismatch
    b) ORA-02070: database <DB_link_name> does not support SYS_OP_C2C in this context
    Hints:
    The current 9i TG works with the existing views and packages.  These same db objects will not compile using the new 11g TG.
    The db objects are on an Oracle 10g database linked to an SQL Server 2008 R2 database.
    Since the 9i TG works I assume a configuration to the 11g TG will get it working same as before.  But what...
    Is is something controlled by these parameters?  (Sorry, I don't know how this stuff works.  I'm the application developer.  My DBAs setup the Transparent Gateways.):
      Parameters in the Gateway Startup Shell script:
        ORA_NLS33
        NLS_LANG
      Parameters in the initsid.ora file:
        HS_LANGUAGE
        HS_NLS_DATE_FORMAT
        HS_NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE
    I'm avoiding the known workaround to refactor the VIEWS and PACKAGES to contain CAST() statements to explicitly match the data types.  A server side fix to the 11g TG is preferred.
    Sample code:
    a) ORA-12704: character set mismatch
       ... is caused by SQL that works with my 9i TG but not with my 11g TG.  It's a snippit from my view that won't compile:
                      select status_code                  -- Oracle VARCHAR2(30)
                      from   ora_app_interfaces
                     UNION
                      select "StatusCode" as status_code  -- SQL Server NVARCHAR(30)
                      from   SqlAppInterfaces
       Example workaround that I'm avoiding:
                      select status_code
                      from   ora_app_interfaces
                     UNION
                      select CAST("StatusCode" as VARCHAR(30)) as status_code
                      from   SqlAppInterfaces
    b) ORA-02070: database <DB_link_name> does not support SYS_OP_C2C in this context
       A line of code in the procedure that compiles correctly but fails to execute:
               -- Insert into SQL Server from Oracle
               insert into PatientMedRecNum (
                  "PatID",         -- SQL Server INT
                  "MedRecNum",     -- SQL Server NVARCHAR(11)
                  "Hospital")      -- SQL Server NVARCHAR(30)
               values (
                  pi_pat_id,       -- Oracle NUMBER
                  pi_med_rec_num,  -- Oracle VARCHAR2
                  pi_hospital);    -- Oracle VARCHAR2
    I'd guess the errors are caused by the TG's implicit conversion between the Oracle VARCHAR2 and the SQL Server NVARCHAR... but this works fine on the 9i TG... how do I set it up to work on the 11g TG?
    Thanks!

    Trace of 11g TG... generating errors due to lack of automatic mapping from SQL NVARCHAR to Oracle NVARCHAR, where the previous 9g TG mapped from SQL NVARCHAR to Oracle VARCHAR2.

  • Oracle XE 11g x64 does not run. No *DBF files inside of the XE folder. Windows 7 Pro x64.

    Hello everyone!
    I hope you are doing well all. In my case I have some troubles by installing Oracle XE 11g on my PC. My OS is Windows 7 Pro x64.
    1. I activated the Administrator mode on my PC (net user Administrator /active:yes)
    2. Started the setup as Administrator. The setup process was finished successfully with no errors showed.
    3. Started the Database, OracleServiceXE, OracleXETNListener and other services.
    4. Tried to connect using sqlplus-> connect system ->password, what in result gave me ORA-01034 Oracle not available and ORA-27101 Shared memory realm does not exist errors.
    5. Then I recognized that my C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\oradata\XE folder is empty when it should be usually full with 6 DBF file.
    6. I opened the cloneDBCreation.log and it contains these data:
    SQL> Create controlfile reuse set database "XE"

    I spent around 2 days to come to this reason and now I do not know what to do next.
    My actions to resolve this problem:
    1. Checked if my user has administrative rights and belongs to ora_dba. It does!
    2. Turned Microsoft UAC off.
    3. Set the system and local variables of ORACLE_BASE, ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID, PATH, TNS-ADMIN to the appropriate values in Enivornment Variables:
         - ORACLE_BASE -> C:\oraclexe
         - ORACLE_HOME -> %ORACLE_BASE%\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server
         - ORACLE_SID -> XE
         - Added to PATH -> C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\bin;
         - TNS_ADMIN -> %ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin
    4. Removed Oracle XE 11g and reinstalled to another drive. No sense!
    Some more errors:
    1. C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\config\log\XE.bat.log
    Instance created.
    DIM-00019: create service error

    It means -> O/S-Error: (OS 1387) Unable to add or remove a member from the local group because this member does not exist.
    I understand that I need to logon as batch job. I added me to this policy in User Rights Assignments, but still I get these "DIM-00019: create service error" and "O/S-Error: (OS 1387)". And I guess just therefore my database is not starting well.
    2. 127.0.0.1:8080/apex/f?p=4950 is not starting in browser. It is probably because the database is not running appropriately. For this issue have already seen one topic in Google that the HTTP Properties inside the Listener Status must be set to 8080 to make this link work. But in my case I do not see this line in my Listener Status:
    Some other information relevant to the issue:

    Guys please help me to solve this issue, 'cause I've almost got frustrated to find out the solution of this problem. Thank you beforehand!!
    Kind regards,
    ildar

    I have tried to install both of them lots of times but in each case I receive the same in my XE.bat file:
    Instance created.
    DIM-00019: create service error
    O/S-Error: (OS 1387) Unable to add or remove a member from the local group because this member does not exist.
    Have checked OS 1387 error at Microsoft Support and as possible cause of the problem they give as follows:
    This issue can occur if the environment has a disjointed namespace (i.e. the domain has different NetBIOS and DNS names). For example, assume that the domain has a NetBIOS name of "domain.com" and a DNS name of "domain-old.com." When users are added in the Windows UI, they are displayed in the format of domain\ComputerName. However, you notice in the error log that there was an attempt to add a computer account in the format of domain-old\ComputerName. (System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager install fails and generates ID: 4323: "A member could not be added")
    Tried to find out my DNS name, but it is impossible because I don't have any domain installed and my machine is not connected to it. Some other blog (Install Oracle 11gR2 on Windows) advices to work with adding my computer account to some non-real windows domain (just for the purpose of resolving the network) as well and reinstall the database then. If I undestand it right I need minimum 2 machines for this. But I own just one, where the server is based and thought that is enough to run the database... no idea ..

  • (HELP) ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist

    Contributors,
    I am a newbie in Oracle and have oracle database installed and working as expected until few days ago. One day i was getting these ugly messages when connecting via SQLplus
    ERROR:
    ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
    ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
    Process ID: 0
    Session ID: 0 Serial number: 0I did some searches on this topic but haven't found solutions.
    * Some suggested to check[b] environment variables ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID : my ORACLE_HOME is fine, and i DO NOT have ORACLE_SID on the day i realize the problem.
    I am not sure if ORACLE_SID variable is usually exist when my database was up and running. So i set ORACLE_SID yet did not help.
    * Some said check if the required services are running :
    - OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener : RUNNING
    - OracleServiceORCL : RUNNING
    * Other said that they have the same problem, but everything back to normal after several hours without anything configured / changed (miraculous)
    * I tried to restart or shut down, but no luck
    * In the same thread few days ago, Vlado helped me with suggestion to acces ADRCI and type SHOW PROBLEM also SHOW INCIDENT
    but the reply is DIA-48494: ADR home is not set, the corresponding operation cannot be done* Other implied to check the .ora files in NETWORK\ADMIN. I will post it (TNSNAMES.ORA, LISTENER.ORA, SQLNET.ORA) after this.
    My platform and some info :
    * OS : MS Windows Vista Ultimate
    * Oracle Database 11g Release 1 (11.1.0.6.0) Enterprise/ Standard Edition for Microsoft Windows 32-bit
    Mostly i used SQLplus and SQLdeveloper, for developing procedures/ functions/ packages in Oracle Spatial.
    Also, am running it in one laptop (server and client altogether).
    There is only one database in the Laptop (no other oracle database).
    How to fix this ? Please kindly help me.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Damon

    owner_name IN VARCHAR2,
    time_limit IN POSITIVE DEFAULT NULL);>
    It looks like you need to provide a SQLSET_NAME and OWNER_NAME to use this procedure correctly, to which you've provided NULLs. I don't see any exceptions in the documentation that indicate special processing when NULLs are provided.

  • Help with error:"ora-27101 shared memory realm does not exist"

    Hello friends of the forum:

    At first and solved momentarily reboot oracle service ...... but after a while does not work but I can not conextar to leave the base because this errror ......
    The database is a lapto instalao .... and I have 100gb of free space and 4 gb of memory do not understand why this happens .....
    I have to do so you can have acces oracle based ...
    I can help with this problem .... thanks ....
    I like to see that show me with pictures as I am new in this aspect of oracle .... and want to learn it .... thank you very much

    Hello friend..
    The error you are getting *"ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist"* may be coz you are trying to connect to your database which is already shutdown not as sysdba user but as some other user, becoz of which you are getting this error. It sometimes happen that the service of the database is already started but when you try to connect to a shutdown database as users other then sys even having the DBA priviledges you cannot connect to database.
    Try to connect as SYS user hope your problem will be resolved.

    I dont know if it is a good thing i copy an init.ora file to initCHUCKY.ora and now database is using it I have just changed some values in it like control files dbname ... that were pointing to another database maybe this is why i dont manage to get this database runing.
    Now i am stucked I dunno what to do

    I dunno what is this fuckin shared memoryThis fuckin shared memory is how oracle does interprocess communication. When you connect to Oracle, you have to connect to this area. If you tell it the wrong area, it won't find it. You can see the areas with the ipcs command on the server. Since you can connect locally, but can't connect remotely, there is something wrong with how you told Oracle to connect remotely. Remotely can be on the same host if you have an @ in the connect string.

    env | grep ORACLE
    ORACLE_SID=CHUCKY
    ORACLE_BASE=/home/oracle
    ORACLE_HOME=/home/oracle/u01/app/oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/
    seems like my variables are good.
    Well I dunno what to do I didn't think getting a simple login locally over tcp/ip would be so difficult, I am afraid of what will happen after this will work :) As it should be one of the easiest things on oracle what about the hardest :)Well, first try removing the trailing slash from ORACLE_HOME everywhere, including if you have it in the listener.ora. Then compare the tnsnames.ora ORACLE_HOME with your environment ORACLE_HOME. In fact, if you have a listener.ora, try renaming it to something else and restarting the listener.
    That error is normally due to a bad ORACLE_HOME or ORACLE_SID. Since your tnsping works, that indicates the ORACLE_HOME is good. But all that tells you is that the listener responds. Other causes may be inadequate processes in init.ora or case issues with the sid, or just generally not following the installation instructions. But are there installation instructions for debian?
    With multiple databases on one host, some kernel parameters may need to be increased.

    Hi,
    Check the corrections given in the note 990764:
    Reason and Prerequisites
    Up to now, using a characteristic with its own master data read class as the InfoProvider was not supported. This is now released but it is not available for all modelings. Using the attributes in the query is not supported for characteristics that have their own master data read class. Using the attributes in the query causes a termination. The following errors may occur in this case:
    ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    Fehler in CL_SQL_RESULT_SET  Include NEXT_PACKAGE
    RAISE_READ_ERROR in CL_RSDRV_VPROV_BASE
    Solution
    SAP NetWeaver 2004s BI
               Import Support Package 11 for SAP NetWeaver 2004s BI (BI Patch 11 or SAPKW70011) into your BI system. The Support Package is available once Note 0914305 "SAPBINews BI 7.0 Support Package 11", which describes this Support Package in more detail, has been released for customers.
    In urgent cases you can implement the correction instructions.
    The correction instructions contain the tightened inspection for characteristics.

    Hi
    I am getting the following error while accessing my pages in the prod server. My prod servers are in loadshared mode with 3 servers. When I access the first and 2nd server all the pages are working fine but its failing in the 3rd server. Is it because some how the deployment is not proper in server 3 ? How to do a cleanup applicaiton in this server and deploy it again ? Is there any tmp folder or something I need to delete manually and try to resolve it ?

    There is one admin console for the managed servers in different machine. We tried couple of time redeploying the application but it shows the error from one of the server.Just thinking is it because of the undeployment is not done properly in that server ? If it is an app or data issue it should be consistent across. The three servers were working perfectly till the last production release. I searched in the google with the error number but not much help there.

  • ERROR - ORA-01034: shared memory realm does not exist

    Hallo!I am a newbie in Oracle in Linux.I have just installed Oracle 10g in Oracle Eenterprise Linux version 4 Update 7.The installation was successful and I could
    work with sqlplus,isqlplus and Enterprise Manager.When I restarted my machine,I manually started the listener,OEM and isqlplus which started successfully.
    However,when I try to log into OEM and isqlplus,the error message below appears
    ERROR - ORA-01034: ORACLE not available ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist Linux Error: 2: No such file or directory
    How do I resolve this?
    Thanks.

    ERROR - ORA-01034: ORACLE not available ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist Linux Error: 2: No such file or directory An Oracle instance consists of a number of Oracle server processes (the limbs) and a shared memory area (the brain). Each and every server process participating in that Oracle instance needs to attach to the shared memory area.
    The error message you see, states that the server process (launched in order to service your sqlplus/OEM client), failed to find and attach to this shared memory segment.
    Two basic reasons for the failure.
    The Oracle instance is not running. There are no shared memory area and Oracle server processes running for that instance. Solution: start up the database instance.
    The server process was launched with the incorrect parameters (ORACLE_SID specifically) and attempted to attach to shared memory that does not exist. Solution: review the TNS/JDBC parameters of the client connection and configuration of the Oracle Listener to ensure that a server process launched to service a client, does so with the correct parameters and environment.

  • Backup report function returns: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist

    Hello All,
    I recently switched over from control file RMAN to recovery catalog. I logged into the 11g database control, executed a full backup and all went well. However, I just noticed that after I click on 'Backup Report' in database control (enterprise manager) I get the following error message: " java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist"
    I was able to view backup reports prior to switching over to recover catalog. What am I missing or what is missing, sort to speak?
    Thanks all !
    -Ron

    Thanks for the reply Werner. I did try it as 'SYS' but no luck. Strange...This was a new enterprise manager - DB control and the backup reprt function was working prior to using the recover catalog. Anthing in the recovery catalog database that may be missing?
    Rob..

    SELECT new_sno INTO my_new_sno FROM SCHOOL_VIEW WHERE ORIG_SNO = OSNO AND ORIG_TN = OTN;
    RETURN my_new_sno;
    END ORIG_SN;and see if it is getting created without any errors.

    Hi Wim
    You should say that "It may be Control File problem", but you shouldn't say that "it's due to Control File" problem
    Please refer to Errors Documentation for more information on ORA-00600
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14219/e0.htm#sthref371
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [string], [string], [string], [string], [string], [string], [string], [string]
    Cause: This is the generic internal error number for Oracle program exceptions. This indicates that a process has encountered an exceptional condition.
    Action: Report as a bug - the first argument is the internal error number
