ORA-06503 ERROR IN ORACLE REPORT.
[Error message is fucntion without a value, the solution is er-write function to return a value. I know this much about the error, but i want someone look at my function and tell me what's the problem with it. The error not going anywhere.]
(here is my function which i defined in column level)
(function CF_1Formula return date is)
(VAR_DATE DATE;)
(ORD_DATE DATE;)
(begin)
( select max(mit_date)
into var_date
from mit_d
where mit_d.uic_well_seq = :seq1;
SELECT MAX(mit_orders.ORDER_DATE)
INTO ORD_DATE
FROM mit_ORDERS, WELL_ORDERS
WHERE mit_ORDERS.SEQ = WELL_ORDERS.UIC_ORDER_SEQ
AND WELL_ORDERS.UIC_WELL_SEQ = :SEQ1;
IF VAR_DATE >= ORD_DATE THEN
return(var_date);
END IF;
end;)
appreciate any help.Hi,
Your function doesnt return a value.
Functions always need to return a value.
You can use an exception handler or code an alternative in case your if doesn't apply:
IF VAR_DATE >= ORD_DATE THEN
return(var_date);
ELSE
return(an_alternative_date); -- or raise an error, follow your requirements in this
END IF;Also realize that you SELECT INTO, maybe you need also to catch NO_DATA_FOUND and/or TOO_MANY_ROWS exceptions there, and provide alternative values for your variables.

Hi everyone.
Can anyone tell me what is wrong in this code below?
Code:
function NO_DAYSFormula return Number is
begin
IF TO_CHAR(TO_DATE(:P_FR_DT, 'DD-MM-RRRR'), 'RRRR') =TO_CHAR(TO_DATE(:ACCT_OPN_DT, 'DD-MM-RRRR'), 'RRRR')
AND :P_TO_DT<:MATURITY_DATE
AND :ACCT_OPN_DT>:P_FR_DT
THEN RETURN (:P_TO_DT-:ACCT_OPN_DT+1);
ELSIF TO_CHAR(TO_DATE(:P_FR_DT, 'DD-MM-RRRR'), 'RRRR') =TO_CHAR(TO_DATE(:ACCT_OPN_DT, 'DD-MM-RRRR'), 'RRRR')
AND :P_TO_DT<:MATURITY_DATE
AND :ACCT_OPN_DT<:P_FR_DT
THEN RETURN (:P_FR_DT-:P_TO_DT+1);
ELSIF TO_CHAR(TO_DATE(:P_FR_DT, 'DD-MM-RRRR'), 'RRRR') =TO_CHAR(TO_DATE(:ACCT_OPN_DT, 'DD-MM-RRRR'), 'RRRR')
AND :P_TO_DT>:MATURITY_DATE
AND :ACCT_OPN_DT<:P_FR_DT
THEN RETURN (:P_FR_DT-:MATURITY_DATE+1);
END IF;
END;
It gets compiled successfully but when i run the report, i get 2 errors.
Error 1:
REP-1401: 'no_daysformula':Fatal PL/SQL error occurred.
ora-06503: PL/SQL : Function returned without value.
Error 2:
REP-0619: You cannot run without a layout.
Should i use only 1 return statement?
Can i use as many return statements as i want?
What is the exact mistake? Please let me know.
Thank You.Let me clear you the first thing...
If you get any fatal errors while running the report (e.g., function returned without value,no value etc.,) the report will show
REP-0619: You cannot run without a layout.
So you just correct the function 'no_daysformula' .
First of all you run the report without that formula column.
If it works fine then , Check the return value of your formula column (Your formula column properties --> Return value --> value (It will be DATE as i think so).
As function will always return a single value, Check your formula 'no_daysformula' returns the same.
declare a return variable say for example..
DECLARE
V_DATE DATE;
BEGIN
--YOUR CODE---
RETURN V_DATE := (RETURN VALUE)
END;
Last but not least ... use Else condition to return (NULL or any value ) in your code and check..
If any Problem persists let me know

ORA-06503: Function returned without value at WWV_FLOW_WEBSERVICES_API
Hi, I use APEX_WEB_SERVICE.MAKE_REQUEST function to call web service however stuck with ORA-06503 exception. It would be nice to hear comment from someone who knows APEX_WEB_SERVICE from inside.
ORA-06503: PL/SQL: Function returned without value
ORA-06512: at "APEX_040000.WWV_FLOW_WEBSERVICES_API", line 125
ORA-06512: at "NEC_VLD.NEC_DVS_WS", line 77
The error occurs about 60% of my test case calls and always with the same parameter values. I thought something bad on web service side however I've tested it with the same parameter values on SoapUI tool and it works just fine. The parameter itself is fixed length varchar2 variable (e.g. 636BB6EFF19941420F00010000007B00000000000000).
My environments
APEX
4.0.1 - no luck
upgrade to 4.0.2 - no luck
plain 4.0.2 install - no luck
Databases
10.0.2
11.0.2
Procedure to call web service:
procedure getDocumentByID(

TomasNever mind sorry! I've just tried granting APEX_040000 permissions for this particular Network ACL and now it works! Can I suggest that apex_web_service.make_request needs some better error handling however.

FRM-40735:WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger raised unhandled exception ORA-06503
Hello to all...
I am developing a form on form 6i like a registration form....
Suppose emp_name is a text item....
I need to validate that item such that number ,null and special characters should not be allowed.
I have created a function to check those validations
function v_check(p_item_name varchar2)
return boolean is
begin
for i in 1..length(p_item_name)
loop
if substr(p_item_name,i,'1') in ('1','2','3','$','%','@','!','#') then
return false;
end if;
end loop;
end v_check;
When i click on save_Record button it commit the form i'm checking the emp_name field with this validation by calling the above function.
for save_Record button i have written this code WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger
declare
a number;
begin
if :iptable.ip_name is null or (not v_check(:iptable.ip_name)) then
set_alert_property('alert',title,'name validation');
set_alert_property('alert',alert_message_text,'null ans spl char are not allowed');
a:=show_alert('alert');
go_item('iptable.ip_name');
raise form_trigger_failure;
end if;
if :system.form_status='CHANGED' then
set_alert_property('alert',title,'Save Box');
set_alert_property('alert',alert_message_text,'Do u want to save');
a:=show_alert('alert');
if a=alert_button1 then
commit_form;
else
raise form_trigger_failure;
end if;
else
set_alert_property('alert',title,'Save Box');
set_alert_property('alert',alert_message_text,'noting to Save Box');
raise form_trigger_failure;
end if;
end;
But i'm gettin this
FRM-40735:WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger raised unhandled exception ORA-06503
exception
How can i resolve this error...help me
thanks...
Edited by: maddyd2k on Nov 25, 2010 10:37 AMHi,
Your function v_check actually can return a NULL value wich is not TRUE neither FALSE.
Modify your function like this :
function v_check(p_item_name varchar2)
return boolean is
l_return boolean := true;
begin
for i in 1..length(p_item_name)
loop
if substr(p_item_name,i,'1') in ('1','2','3','$','%','@','!','#') then
l_return := false;
end if;
end loop;
return l_return;
end v_check; -
ORA-06502 and ORA-06503 if more than 3700 rows
In a simple application one of the two tables has about 10.000 rows. If I limit the "Max Row Count" to 3700 the "select list" will be generated without error
("row(s) 1-17 of more than 3700").
With "Max Row Count" 3710 and 3720 an ORA-06502, with "Max Row Count" 3730 an ORA-06503 occur and no select list will appear.
Other values greater 3710 e.g. 4000 don't cause any Oracle error but no select list was built.
It seems to be that the value limit will be exeeded in cases where the row count is greater than 3700.Joachim,
Select lists are limited to 32,000 characters. This includes the select and option tags and all the display and return values. Depending on your pagination settings, specifically on the number of rows you display on each page, this translates into around 4000 rows being supported by this particular pagination style. If you have more rows then that, I'd recommend using a different pagination style, one that does not show a select list.

Ora-01008 error with bind variable
Hi,
We have a test program which have one bind variable on a column which is varchar2(20), in the test program we've passed a 20 character string to the variable. The program returns error in one of the databases but all others are successful. We've checked the column is same in all of them.
Exception in thread "main" java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-01008: not all variables bound
Could you please advise how to troubleshoot this issue?
RegardsWe aren't going to be able to help you if you won't post the database code that is giving the error.
And now we need the Java code that is constructing the query that you are using.
Your error is saying there is a second variable that you are not providing a value for.
And you said

ORA-24381: error(s) in array DML
Cause: One or more rows failed in the DML.indicates that you fail on the insert itself. Are the table definitions the same? Same primary/unique keys?

PL/SQL: ORA-04052: error occurred when looking up remote object.
Hi All,
I'm getting the following error message while executing a PL/SQL Block.
PL/SQL: ORA-04052: error occurred when looking up remote object UPLDUSER.filestatushistory@FTS
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-03106: fatal two-task communication protocol error
ORA-02063: preceding line from FTSStatement
declare
v_coun number;
begin
select count(*) into v_coun
from updluser.filestatushistory@fts;
end;Back ground of the situation as follows,
My DataBase version 10.2.0.3 DB Name :DB1
Table Owner : UPLDUSER
Table Name : FILESTATUSHISTORY
I have a report user on the same database and I have grant all on the above table to report user
Report User : RPT_FTS
SQL> GRANT ALL ON FILESTATUSHISTORY_V TO RPT_FTS;Now Please find the below database details where I'm getting subjected error.
Database version : 9.2.0.8
DB Name : DB2
User Name : RPT_REPORTS
I Have create a dblink from RPT_REPORTS to RPT_FTS on DB1 and the dblink works fine. But getting the above error while running it.
but When I do the same other 10.2.0.3 db , the above PL/SQL block works fine without any problem.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Now the strange about this is that I have Created a new table on DB1 db like below;
SQL> CREATE TABLE UPLDUSER.ABC AS SELECT * FROM FILESTATUSHISTORY;and retry my code on DB2 (9.2.0.8) after changing the table to ABC and it worked. Now I don't know whats wrong with a original table(FILESTATUSHISTORY).
To over come the problem and a work-a-round method I create a view on the DB1 (RPT_FTS) like the below
SQL> CREATE VIEW FILESTATUSHISTORY AS SELECT * FROM UPLDUSER.FILESTATUSHISTORY;and was able to run the PL/SQL block Remotely.
Just wants To know what whould have been the cause for this .
Cheers
KanchanaHi Kanchana,
Perhaps following link of google search has answer to your query
ORA-04052. The search result contains some useful articles whose URLs I shan't post in the forums.

ORA-1555 ORA-3136 errors:: elapsed time vs Query Duration
Dear all,
- My Database version is 11.2.0.2, Solaris.
- We have been having a problem in the production database where the front end nodes start going up and down for couple of hours sometimes. ; When node flapping is going on we get connection timed out alerts.
WARNING: inbound connection timed out (ORA-3136) opiodr aborting
process unknown ospid (4342) as a result of ORA-609 opiodr aborting
process unknown ospid (4532) as a result of ORA-609 opiodr aborting

Since this week node flapping is happening every day. Since past 2 days after or during node flapping we are getting ORA-1555 error.
Extract from alert log error:
