Ora-15040 - diskgroup is incomplete

Hi DBA gurus,
I have set up a RAC environment on Oracle VM boxes and successfully installed the GRID , but when I am trying to create the database either from dbca or from manually it says :
I have created two Oracle Vm boxes for linux 6.4
and installed Oracle 11.2.0.4 on it
sql>startup nomount
ora-01565 - error in identifying +DATA/dbrac/spfiledbrac.ora
ora-17503 - ksfdopn : 2 failed to open file +DATA/dbrac/spfiledbrac.ora
ora-15001 - diskgroup DATA doesnot exist or is not mounted
ora-15040 - diskgroup is incomplete.
i am new to RAC and stuck here and could not proceed further.
Thanks in advance.

Hi ,
sql>startup nomount
ora-01565 - error in identifying +DATA/dbrac/spfiledbrac.ora
ora-17503 - ksfdopn : 2 failed to open file +DATA/dbrac/spfiledbrac.ora
ora-15001 - diskgroup DATA doesnot exist or is not mounted
ora-15040 - diskgroup is incomplete.
Does data diskgroup is mounted on ASM level.
--- if not, please check while mounting last time what exact error it wrote on ASM alertlog file
--- if no issue ,try to mount this diskgroup data from asm sqlplus/asmcmd
-- If mounted, please check if you have proper OS level group is assigned to OS user which is holding rdbms binary.
check $GI_HOME/rdbms/lib/config.[co] file ,does rdbms OS user have SS_ASM_GRP group assigned at OS level.

    Hi;
    1. Check this disk avaliable or not
    2. There are seeded ASM forum site. I suggest close your issue here as answered than move your issue Forum Home » High Availability »Automatic Storage Management which is dedicated forum site.

  • ORA-15001: diskgroup "FRA" does not exist or is not mounted

    Dear Experts,
We noticed the error "ORA-15001: diskgroup "FRA" does not exist or is not mounted" on the 2nd node of our 4 nodes RAC database system.
During this weekend, we moved our system to a new data center. After the move was done, we were able to bring up the 4 instances around 3:00 AM. However, 4 hours later (7:00 AM), OEM Grid control alerted us with "archival error" on the 2nd instance. From our investigating, we saw the FRA was dismounted. Below is the oracle alert log file (For secuirty reson, the SID is modified):

ORA-15001: diskgroup "FRA" does not exist or is not mounted
ORA-15001: diskgroup "FRA" does not exist or is not mounted It is my understanding, that Oracle will automatically mount the diskgroups on the ASM when the instances are started. In our case, all other diskgroups are started OK but not the FRA diskgroup. Is this a bug with FRA where FRA can not be automatically started up after recycling the instance? Did anyone experience the same situation? Can someone advice?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
    We are running oracle 10.2.0.2.
Which section of the alert log file for +ASM2 we need here? I will paste it here the ones when "alter diskgroup all mounted" started at 3:00 AM all the way upto 4:00 AM on Saturday, Feb 7:

Interesting that your status for the PP0DEV groups is CONNECTED ... using NFS or iSCSI? I typically see MOUNTED.
What is your definition for DB_RECOVERY_DEST, DB_RECOVERY_DEST_SIZE. The error stated that you had exhausted space, but if I read this correctly, I see 144857M (144G) in your ARCHGROUP1, make sure your DEST_SIZE is 900G (TOTAL_MB for the ARCHIVE group)

    My first doubt is:
why it was not able to extend itself as it had 3 files and 2 very small size?
Anyway I tried an alter tablespace add datafile, but:
    SQL> alter tablespace system add datafile;
    alter tablespace system add datafile

    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01119: error in creating database file 'DATA'+
    ORA-17502: ksfdcre:4 Failed to create file DATA+
    ORA-15041: diskgroup space exhausted
Why I got this error? Every memeber had enough space and 1 even 52gb...
I had to had the disk asm212 at the DATA diskgroup. Then I was able to add the datafile.
    Thanks in advance,
    Samuel

when i create an as instance, it creates the instances on both nodes, it's ok

  • Strange issue in Oracle ASM on Two node RAC where in one ASM node shows all diskgroup while other node shows  missing node.

We have Oracle datbase 11gR1 in RAC node with Oracle ASM.Recently our database server got crashed and we are trying to restore back services.
Using Snapshot technologyBusiness copy we had synced all our disk on storage level. Post this when we are trying to start ASM instance on node 1 it is coming and showing all diskgroups but on other node it is throwing errot with missing e diskgroup.
    ORA-15032: not all alterations performed
    ORA-15040: diskgroup is incomplete
ORA-15042: ASM disk "5" is missing
    Expert please share your views.
    Thanks,
    Tushar

The I/O fabric layer on the other node failed to mount all storage LUNs - resulting in ASM being unable to mount a diskgroup as there are missing disks in that group.
Rebooting is exactly what could be needed to reset the h/w and infrastructure used by that node, in order for it to see all the storage disks again. As node 1 sees all storage disks (and is working), the disk itself on the storage system is intact and usable.
What is the o/s? What is the fabric layer? What is used on o/s for dealing with the I/O fabric layer?

I am doing configuration of RAC on Windows 2003 Ent servers. Its a 2 node cluster with ISCSI storage.
