ORA-16795: database resource guard detects that database re-creation is req

Hi, I have Data Guard with data broker (Oracle 10.2.0.4) set up with RMAN and RMAN catalog. I was recovering my primary from a corrupted datafile, when automatic failover took place. After I did the recovery, I tried to re-instate my primary, but ran into the followign error:
Error: ORA-16795: database resource guard detects that database re-creation is requiredIn order to recreate the old primary (new standby), can I just delete all of the dbf files on old primary and then follow the steps to create a standby using backups from new primary? What about RMAN catalog? Do I have to unregister anything from there? Do I need to delete the configuration? If anyone has steps on how to RE-CREATE standby, that would be very helpful. Thank you!

I followed the above Metalink note, but when I try to restore standby controlfie I get:

    Explanation
    Database Resource Manager란 OS에서 제공하는 자원 (예 : CPU 자원 )에 대해 DB
    차원에서 계획을 세워, 세부 관리를 할 수 있도록 해 주는 서비스이다.
    예를 들어 주간에 batch 작업을 처리하더라도, OLTP 업무에는 지장을 주지 않아야
    할 경우 batch 작업에 CPU 자원을 적게 할당해 주는 것이 바람직 하며, Resource
    Manager를 활용하여 CPU 자원을 batch 작업과 OLTP 업무에 서로 다르게 할당해 줄
    수 있다. ( Oracle 8.1.6 까지는 Resouurce Manager에서 CPU 자원에 대해서만
    관리만 가능하다 )
    1. 용어
    1) Resource Consumer Group
    사용자 session들의 집합. Resource에 대한 요구사항에 따라 나뉘어진 그룹.
    2) Resource Plan
         Consumer Group에 자원을 할당 해 주기 위한 resource plan directive들을
    포함.
    3) Resource Allocation Method
         Resource Manager에서 자원을 할당해 주는 방법/정책.
    4) Resource Plan Directive
         Resource Plan에 대해 자원을 할당해 주는 세부 내역.
    2. Resource Consumer Group
    * 기본 group
         [ 사용자가 삭제, 수정할 수 없는 group ]
         OTHER_GROUPS : active plan schema에 속하지 않는 consumer group의 모든
    session
         DEFAULT_CONSUMER_GROUP : consumer group을 지정하지 않은 모든
    session.(default)
         [ 기본적으로 제공되나 사용자가 삭제하거나 변경할 수 있는 group ]
         SYS_GROUP : SYSTEM_PLAN에 대한 high priority consumer group
    SYSTEM, SYS user에 할당한다.
         LOW_GROUP : SYSTEM_PLAN에 대한 low priority consumer group
    3. Resource Plan
         Consumer group에 속하는 session들은 해당 group에 대한 resource plan에
    따라 자원 할당이 결정되며, 자원 할당에 대한 세부 사항은 resource plan에
    대한 resource plan directive에서 지정된다.
         Resource plan은 subplan을 둘 수 있다.
    4. Resource Allocation Method
         Round-robin Method : Consumer group 내에서 session들에 대한 CPU 할당
         Emphasis Method : Consumer group에 할당되는 CPU
         Absolute Method : Parallel degree 한계 ( 예 : Parallel Query에서의
    degree )
    5. Resource Plan Directive
         Resource Plan Directive에 지정된 내용들은 resource plan에 따라
    consumer group에 자원을 할당할 때 반영된다.

         위 예에서 MYDB PLAN에는 2개의 subplan ( MAILDB PLAN, BUGDB PLAN )이

         Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 는 우선순위 레벨을 의미하며, 하나의
         resource plan에서 동일한 level의 합이 100%를 넘지 못한다.
         ( Level 은 1부터 8까지 지정할 수 있으며 level 1이 가장 우선순위가
         높으며 level 8이 가장 우선순위가 낮다 )
         예를 들어 전체 CPU 자원의 70%를 할당 받은 BUGDB PLAN은 다시
         ONLINE GROUP과 BATCH GROUP을 두고 있는데, 이 둘의 Level이 모두 1이며
         두개의 percentage의 합이 100%이다. 하지만, 즉, level 1인 ONLINE GROUP
    에 90%를 할당하였다면, level 1인 BATCH GROUP에는 10% 이상을 할당할 수

  • Report ORA-12514 once restart Oracle 10.2 database

    OS: Windows2003 Standard Edition SP1
    Oralce 10.2.0.1.0 for Micorsoft Windows(32bit)
    I install Oracle 10.2 on Windows 2003, during installation, reports a waring at Product-Specific Prerequisite Checks:
    Checking Network Configuration requirements ...Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed <<<<
    Problem: The install has detected that the primary IP address of the system is DHCP-assigned.
    Recommendation: Oracle supports installations on systems with DHCP-assigned IP addresses; However, before you can do this, you must configure the Microsoft LoopBack Adapter to be the primary network adapter on the system. See the Installation Guide for more details on installing the software on systems configured with DHCP.
    I try to modify the Network config from assign IP address automatically to specify static IP address. then, Oralce can be installed successfully, and create database, connect to database... all work well.
    But once I do restart(stop/start) the database server, then the database can not be connected and report error ORA-12514. but I do not do any changes, only restart the database server.
    I also try to configure LoopBack metioned in the warning message, but it does not work as well.
    I try to install Oracle10.2 on other clean machines with different OS, like Windows XP sp2, I got the same result.
    Also, I doubt database server does not really start when restarting it, although no error or warning is reported. because of I watch the system memory usage, I do not see any increase of memory when I start the database server, it's not normal.
    I setup a Oralce10.1 server on the same machine, it has not this problem.
    Could anyone help me to solve it?

    I have tried several times however it changes the role of primary DB to physical standby , which i again change to primary by "Alter Database Commit to Switchover to PRIMARY with session Shutdown;"

  • Adding the Oracle Database Resource to the Fail Safe Group

    Hi,
    I am installtin MSCS cluster for my EP system. After Adding the Oracle Database Resource to the Fail Safe Group my CI jcontrol.exe has been stopped. I tried to connect my SAPSR3DB user by sqlplus but it is giving follwoing error.
    SQL> conn SAPEPPDB

    ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified

    but DB startup is running properly and DB is coming in open state properly. After that I have perform R3trans -d. following error

  • Data Guard und restart-database

    Hi experts,
    I did the following activities:
    + defined first a restart standalone database dg1 on the system dwh with Linux RH 5.4/ Oracle 11.2.0.3 -Environment with clusterware.
    + then created a standby database dg2 on the system stb with Linux RH 5.4/ Oracle 11.2.0.3 -Environment with with clusterware.
    + and made a switchover from dg1 to dg2. Now dg2 is primary and dg1 is standby.
    My Problems.
    1/ dg1 does not restart automatically now after system reboots
    2/ dg2 is not automatically restarted, because there is no resource for it defined lócal or in cluster.
    I tried to make them to restart-databases unsuccessfully
    a/ to define dg2 a restart-db on stb :

    Hello;
    PRCD-1120 and PRCR-1001 the reason for these is raccheck is not able to list this database.
    double check you name :
    Select name from v$database;
    Use crs_stat to see if you name if correct and if the database is offline.
    I'm thinking registered with the cluster is in OFFLINE state.
    crsctl setperm resource <resource_name> -o oracle
    crsctl setperm resource <resource_name> -g oinstall
    Not really a Data Guard issue, more of a Clusterware issue. ( I say this because Clusterware is getting out of my area )
    I think it a bug, but I cannot find the bug number.

  • ORA-16831: operation disallowed on this standby database type

    Om my primary database, i am getting this error when i give ADD database command. How i can resolve. The difference between primary & secondary is that primary is 64bit OS and secondary is 32bit OS. Both have 12gr2 and linux.
    DGMGRL> ADD DATABASE tbdb AS CONNECT IDENTIFIER IS tbdb MAINTAINED AS PHYSICAL;
    Error: ORA-16831: operation disallowed on this standby database type

    It's supported till 10g. But data guard broker is not supported if you use different binaries. See support note 414043.1

    I have problems in opening the database of the physical standby in read- write mode/ read only mode. I have a primary server which is running on 2 node RAC and the standby on a seperate single server being used as DR. I recently got this server and my aim was to isolate the standby server from primary server and perform few test. As it has never been tested even once.

    Hi Joel,
    how about following the advice given by the error message and moving the mentioned files/folder (init<sid>_OFS.ora, AUDIT folder) to a clustered resource disk?

    I myself have found the solution , when I recover the standby database
    it do recovery but at the end of recovery it raise the error(RMAN-06054: media recovery requesting unknown log: thread 1
    seq 118 lowscn 1392700) but if I begain redo apply before open the database
    and I wait till all redo apply process start and communication between the
    standby database and the primary database start, then I can
    open the standby database and no error will raise
    but if befor restarting redo apply I open the database I'll recieve the
    ORA-01152: file 1 was not restored from a sufficiently old backup
    ORA-01110: data file 1: '/u01/app/oracle/oradata/sari/system01.dbf' error

  • ORA-01242: data file suffered media failure: database in NOARCHIVELOG mode

    Hi All,
    Need help from the gurus.
    Currently we are in state unable to do anything.
    Was using a database and all of a sudden it crashed. Tried to mount the database, open it, it failed. Also tried the recover and alter database open, even that failed. Errors are as follows.
    Errors in file e:\oracle\product\10.2.0 \admin\devrevdb\bdump\devrevdb_p000_2620.trc:
    ORA-00603: ORACLE server session terminated by fatal error
    ORA-01242: data file suffered media failure: database in NOARCHIVELOG mode
    ORA-00449: background process 'DBW0' unexpectedly terminated with error 1242
    ORA-01242: data file suffered media failure: database in NOARCHIVELOG mode
    In my spfile, the administrator has set only two control files and there is no mirroring and hence do not have another control file that will help me boot the db.
    Please let me know how I should go about it. I am only a timebeing person trying to carryout a db activity. Any help would be of great help.

    I tried the way you suggested and it threw an error.
    ORA-01145: offline immediate disallowed unless media recovery enabled
    I searched and found that an additional tag of drop needs to be added to the command which you suggested.
    ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE '<filename>' OFFLINE DROP.
    i don't know what will the drop command have an effect ?
    i have copied the data file to another location. Since i don't know much, i just want to be sure of what im doing.
    if the above command is successfull, will it drop the datafile or the tablespace and i can no more use it. How can i use the copied datafile.

    your sid is DEVDB so create dblink using oracle_sid
    If you specify only the database name, then Oracle Database implicitly appends the database domain to the connect string to create a complete service name. Therefore, if the database domain of the remote database is different from that of the current database, then you must specify the complete service name.

  • Capturing and dealing with ORA-20001: Current version of data in database..

    Hi all,
    If a user has an edit screen open, and for what ever reason (another user, trigger) the data for that record changes, on save theh user gets ORA-20001: "Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. "
    Understandably.
    How do you guys make this look a little more profesional to ther user. Can you captuere this error and direct them to a message?

  • What are the database resources when collecting stats using dbms_stats

    Hello,
    We have tables that contain stale stats and would want to collect stats using dbms_stats with estiamte of 30%. What are the database resources that would be consummed when dbms_stats is used on a table? Also, would the table be locked during dbms_stats? Thank you.

    1) I'm not sure what resources you're talking about. Obviously, gathering statistics requires I/O since you've got to read lots of data from the table. It requires CPU particularly if you are gathering histograms. It requires RAM to the extent that you'll be doing sorts in PGA and to the extent that you'll be putting blocks in the buffer cache (and thus causing other blocks to age out), etc. Depending on whether you immediately invalidate query plans, you may force other sessions to start doing a lot more hard parsing as well.
    2) You cannot do DDL on a table while you are gathering statistics, but you can do DML. You would generally not want to gather statistics while an application is active.
