ORABPEL-11624 DBActivationSpec Polling Exception

I have created an external partnerlink using database polling. What I start up BPEL PM Server I got the following error:

The DB2 database is in an IBM z/OS mainframe. I am using IBM DB2 JDBC client version 8.2. Has any one used BPEL/DBAdapter to access mainframe DB2 database successfully?
Thanks,

Im having the same problem. There is any solution or patch?? Please help!

  • DBAdapter - Polling Exception Handling, how?

    Hi,
We came across the scenario where we want to be notified immediately if, for any reason, DBAdapter cannot poll information from DB. (staled connections, DB crash, etc.) Since the issue would be raised within the Adapter itself, BPEL flow wouldn't even be invoked, how would capture this exception?
Is there any recommend approach for this kind of requirement?
    Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

    Hi
I checked the SQLs created by the DB adapter.
    Pre Polling SQL:
    UPDATE dbo.xworlds_events SET event_status = 'R${weblogic.Name-2}-91' WHERE ((object_name = 'XXX') AND (event_status = '0'))
    Polling SQL:
    SELECT event_id, connector_id, object_key, object_name, object_verb, event_priority, event_time, event_status, event_comment FROM dbo.xworlds_events WHERE ((object_name = 'XXX') AND (event_status = 'R${weblogic.Name-2}-91'))
    After Read SQL:
    UPDATE dbo.xworlds_events SET event_status = '3' WHERE ((object_name = 'XXX') AND (event_status = 'R${weblogic.Name-2}-91'))
Now the event_status column is of datatype decimal. However the SQLs above are considering this to be a varchar. Can this be the reason for the " Error converting data type nvarchar to numeric" and if yes then how can I modify these SQLs. The wizard doesnt allow me to edit it. Is there any backend file where these SQLs are stored in SOA 11G.
    Thanks

  • DB Adapter polling and logical delete: Process succeed but lock on database

We have the following busisness flow, that reseult in a BPEL behaviour we did not expect. I hope that some of you had the same exeprience.
The database adpater polls from a table new records based on a value (20) in a status field. When it finds records, it will process them and update the status field (20 -> 30).
When we update from sqlplus a record, select for update on record with status 20, then We see in the logging that the update fails, but the process ran sucessfully. At the database we see an outstanding lock. If we commit the sqlplus session (after a few minutes), the status field is updated to 30.
This is strange to me, the BPEL process was already sucessfully finished.
    Anyone seen this behaviour?

    Marc

What can be cause of this error?

    Hi alex,
    Cause of problem
Both OC4J running BPEL and the database adapter reached the maximum number of connections and were unable to establish new ones.
The reason for the problem is a database adapter Bug 5595347.
According to Bug 5595347, the database adapter might leave open connections behind.
The fix for Bug 5595347 is included in Patch 5638122.
    Solution
To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
    Apply Patch 5638122.

  • Database Polling Fails when target database re-started

    Hi
I have a problem with a BPEL process that is polling records from the database. I noticed that no records had been picked up in a while and that no errors were being caught by the process. When i checked the domain log I could see that the error below had occurred and was retrying. I found out that the target SQLServer database had been restarted, but as far as I was aware the connection should refresh once the database restarts.
This is quite a concern for my client who is querying the stability of the SOA suite. they frequently restart their SQL Server database and do not want to have to refresh connections to solve the problem from the application server each time. They are currenlty using 10.1.3.3.0 of the SOA suite software so the connection should be reintiated when the target database is started again.
Does any one have any idea why this error is occuring??

I work with ditchTwentyThree. We are still getting this problem.
To clarify, the situation is that when we use the BPEL Database Adapter to Poll a SQL Server Database we get the behaviour that if the database is not available, the retry policy is referenced and the polling retries every 30 seconds. All good so far. However, when the Database becomes available again the polling still fails in the same way - until the SQL Server Database Connection is manually refreshed through EM. The behaviour we would expect is for the Polling to reinitiate as soon as the SQL Server becomes available without any manual intervention.
We have configured the DB Adapter retry policies in the same way as we have done for polling an Oracle database (all this works well with Oracle).
Can anyone help or confirm that this has been successfully achieved on other projects with the DB Adapter accessing MS SQL Server.
    Any tips appreciated.

  • DBAdapter polling for new or changed records not issuing callback?

I have a process which includes a partner link with a database adapter.
The database adapter is to poll a table for new records using an external database server.
    I have no relationships setup, it's a single-table query.
The adapter is configured to delete rows after they are read.
I have the receive process of that partner link tied to a receive activity and its own input variable assigned.
My process compiles and deploys successfully. When I initiate the process through the BPEL console, the instance of the process waits at the receive activity and nothing happens, even after I manually add records to the table being polled. (which do get deleted, apparently by the partner link.)
I have other dbadapter partner links in the same process using the same connection that work fine, specifically using procedure execution and custom sql queries.
I can't find any errors or warnings about this, and the interactions manager in the BPEL Console allows me to manually send a message to the instance, allowing it to continue.
The application server is 10.1.3.1.0 and I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.2.0.4066

    Follow-up:
When I set activation logging to debug, I get the following in domain.log
    <2007-04-03 08:15:28,591> <DEBUG> <default.collaxa.cube.activation> <Database Adapter::Inbound> <oracle.tip.adapter.db.TopLinkLogger log> client acquired
    <2007-04-03 08:15:28,591> <DEBUG> <default.collaxa.cube.activation> <Database Adapter::Inbound> <oracle.tip.adapter.db.TopLinkLogger log> SELECT SOME_ID, SOME_VALUE FROM PAULD.SOME_TABLE ORDER BY SOME_ID ASC
    <2007-04-03 08:15:28,592> <DEBUG> <default.collaxa.cube.activation> <Database Adapter::Inbound> <oracle.tip.adapter.db.TopLinkLogger log> client released
From looking at this it may be that the callback to the receive activity is not occurring?

    Second follow-up:
I'm still having this issue but must give up on troubleshooting.
Documentation on polling adapter says nothing about handling callbacks, I've been trying to use correlations here with no luck. I'm also not seeing any documentation about setting up correlations for use with the database adapter.
now the issue I'm having is that the inbound database adapter is still polling my table and deleting records, even though I've undeployed my process.

I did not. Currently the manual recovery area is empty. I've tried re-deploying my process and am now getting the following in my logs (all debugging on):

As reflected in the log messages, the process is automatically turned off. Turning it back on is ineffective, the server turns it back off with the same exception.
This is a separate issue, but I'm not seeing much reason for this to be happening either. I've scrapped the process and started over, using my own BPEL process that simulates what I would expect that the dbadapter is supposed to do when it's configured to poll for records.

  • Connection Reset Error with Database Polling

    Hi,
I am using DB adapter for polling records from the database. After polling I am doing physical delete for the records that have been polled. The polled record has a column for scheduledDateTime which is used to do scheduling for the process, using a Wait Activity.
Everything works fine in development environment but shows different behaviour in testing environment.
The records have been polled and is waiting at wait activity for time expiry. But even after time expires, the process is still in a waiting stage. When I checked logs for the process, this was the error given.

    Any help will be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Varun

Nevermind, I found the problem. My school is incapable of finishing loading any sites through SSL, ever (without a proxy), and Twitter decided to lock my account to SSL without telling me. I just had to set FoxyProxy to use the proxy for https://twitter.com and it was fixed.
I suppose other programs could still load Twitter because they didn't have the cookies to stay in my account, which means they weren't redirected to https.

Looks like the server is unable to connect to the dehydration database.
A standard installation would have this data source setup as part of the installation.
    "jdbc/BPELServerDataSourceWorkflow"
This again uses the connection pool "BPELPM_CONNECTION_POOL"
And the name of the data source is "BPELServerDataSourceWorkflow"
There are a few checks that you can perform.
    1. Check if the dehydration database is up.
If no then this should be up and running.
    2. Go to the EM and use {test connection} for "BPELPM_CONNECTION_POOL"
If comes back with error then check if the dehydration database credentials has changed post installation.
There are a few other datasources that share the same connection pool. Check if these are working too.

  • DB Adapter connectivity issue

    Hi,
I am trying to create a BPEL process which connect to a Custom oracle database using DB adapter. This process is supposed to read data from custom table and populate elsewhere. In BPEL designer I am able to create the connection, view the tables and create mapping. Then I deployed the process. Now when I try to test the process by inserting data to the table, it is throwing following error message in the log and no process is getting initiated in the console. Any thoughts on what could be the problem? Is there anything that I am missing after creating and deploying the process?

  • Problem processing large message using dbadapter.

I have a process which is initiated by dbadapter fetch from table.
Its working fine when the records are less. But when the number of records

To process 6000 messages in one shot is not the best practice in BPEL. For that you have to choose concepts like datawarehouse or so.
But you might want to process it in batch mode. So think of using batch option in DB adapter and try to define MaxRaiseSize and MaxTransactionSize for your DB adapter. Further explanation is here

  • Intermittence for execute Polling with DataBase Adapter in OSB11g

    Hello Guys,
I'm having a problem running the polling DataBase Adapter OSB11g. The creation of the adapter was made in Jdeveloper 11.
    The problem is:
Intermittence to run the polling DataBase. Sometimes it works, other time it does not work.
    Displays the following exception:
    *<Info> <JCA_FRAMEWORK_AND_ADAPTER> <BEA-000000> <<oracle.tip.adapter.db.InboundWork handleException> BINDING.JCA-11624*
    DBActivationSpec Polling Exception.
*Query name: [BD_XPTO_NOTIFICA_XPTOSelect], Descriptor name: [BD_XPTO_NOTIFICA_PRICING.XPTO]. Polling the database for events failed on this iteration.*
Caused by JTS transaction was marked rollback only.
This exception is considered retriable, likely due to a communication failure.  Polling will be attempted again next polling interval.
This is a BUG? Have Fix?
    Tks,
    Azevedo, Artur.

It looks like a database issue or a XA configuration issue? What database you're polling? Oracle? Sybase? Check if your database is supported...
    Cheers,
    Vlad

  • Osb jca adapter weird behaviour

    Hi gurus,
Im running OSB 11.1.1.5 having a db adapter polling an MSSQL2000 table (SELECT WITH (UPDLOCK, NOWAIT)..)
The table is being filled by a long running transaction.
I observe in the JCA logging the following error on every polling iteration while the table is being filled:
    <Jan 10, 2012 2:00:45 PM CET> <Error> <JCA_FRAMEWORK_AND_ADAPTER> <BEA-000000> <<oracle.tip.adapter.db.InboundWork handleException> Encountered a fatal exception while polling. Query name: [O_Boeking_I_PollerSelect], Descriptor name: [O_Boeking_I_Poller.OBoeking]. Polling the database for events failed on this iteration.
Caused by java.sql.SQLException: [FMWGEN][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]Lock request time out period exceeded..
This exception is considered not retriable, likely due to a modelling mistake. To classify it as retriable instead add property nonRetriableErrorCodes with value "-1222" to your deployment descriptor (i.e. weblogic-ra.xml). This polling process will shut down, unless the fault is related to processing a particular row, in which case polling will continue but the row will be rejected (faulted).
The issue I'm experiencing occurs after the long running transaction is done. What I see is that in the next polling sweep 2 XML documents are delivered by the db adapter engine...I cannot figure out why. I do not want this
1 document contains only 1 record. The other document contains the rest of my records.
Have tried both WebLogic and MS JDBC drivers.
    Some of mine properties:
MaxRaiseSize = 0 (I want all the records in 1 XML document)
    MaxTransactionSize = unlimited
    Thanks alot

    Veejay,
Have done so...I tried some different setting like test-connections-on-reserve (was off)...no successes here.
I will give a try with another mssql driver version.
Another interesting thing I have observed is when I do not commit the long running transaction, the next db adapter polling event results in this exception:
    <Jan 17, 2012 12:24:10 PM CET> <Error> <JCA_FRAMEWORK_AND_ADAPTER> <BEA-000000> <<oracle.tip.adapter.db.InboundWork handleException>

  • JCA DB Adapter process the same file twice in a clustered envrionment causing duplicate records

We have 2 Nodes in a OSB Cluster and for one of the webservices we use DB Adapter to process the records and send it to external system.
When ever we catch up with below exception and when the same records are reprocessed/retried the message is processed/sent by both the nodes which is causing a duplicate of records.
    'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'> <<WLS Kernel>> <> <1e3df38069b38bbe:3fdbec90:14c7cca0f5f:-8000-0000000000000006> <1428935826370> <BEA-000000> <<oracle.tip.adapter.db.InboundWork handleException> BINDING.JCA-11624
    DBActivationSpec Polling Exception.
Query name: [XYZDBAdapterSelect], Descriptor name: [XYZDBAdapter.ABCEnrollment]. Polling the database for events failed on this iteration.
Caused by JTS transaction was marked rollback only.
    Please advice!
    Thanks!

You have to use MOVE operation, if there is any remote exception occured, then move the file to someother folder and again move back to the same folder where the file pickup will start.
In that way you will be use the same file picked up next time when the polling happens.
It is considered good etiquette to reward answerers with points (as "helpful" - 5 pts - or "correct" - 10pts).

  • DB Adaptor not working consistently

We are sending outbound EDI 850 documents using DB adaptor.
The adaptor listens to a staging table to look for new POs (delete_flag = 'N' in staging table). The adaptors runs fine for some time eg yesterday it ran fine whole day (polling frequency is 10 mins) and then today morning it stopped polling from the Polling table. I had to reconfigure the adaptor for it to start working again.
None of the underlying objects were changed. The Polling table exists on the Oracle EBS.
    Thanks
