Oracel BI Financial Analytics presentation layer to be displayed in Arabic
Hi All
I need financial analytics(OOTB) to be in Arabic, will the table names and column names will change arabic automatically or do i need to externalize strings
Please help.

Hi Rajagopal,
According to me, Presentation table & column will not change to Arabic automatically, if you know how to do it using external string do let me know.
User can try converting OBIEE interface to Arabic using the language drop down available on the login screen, You can also convert report date (dimensions only) using lookup tables in the BMM layer if you are using OBIEE 11g.

OBIA 7.9.6.3 Financial Analytics
We implemented the 7.9.6.3 financial analytics 3 months back and everything fell right in place without heavy customization. But our company has taken a new strategy and has implemented a new organizational structure where in there are divisions which span across legal entities/Ledgers/Countries. Now the dashboards should show data or measures for a particular division which might be running out of two different countries with two separate ledgers.
My first inclination was to check if the dashboards would function without a ledger value and it failed...the reports do not show data when the ledger is not selected.
Is this right ?
I would like to know if this is possible !! Any input is appreciated.

'Divisions' in our case are nothing but new reporting structures. A certain business division has departments across countries/legal entities.
For eg: Global Services Division is present in USA,Norway, India and Australia. All locations have EBS R12 ERP. Now in BI Apps when we select the ledger filter it shows me all the locations, but I've to choose one and I can see numbers only related to USA or any other location.
I was wrong in my previous mail that I am unable to get results when there are more locations/ledgers selected, I do have that working now.
The issue is incorporating the new hierarchy into this mix. I see the divisional structure/hierarchy in W_HIERARCHY_D table but I cannot figure out a way to choose that as a filter into the dashboard nor do I understand the way it connects to the Facts.
Ideally, I would like to select all ledgers and then via another filter pick a particular division and see the financial statements.
I hope I am being clear here.

DAC Execution plan for financial analytics keeps running (OBIA 7.9.4)
Hi Gurus,
I have problem when tried to run full load on financial analytics execution plan. I used OBIA 7.9.4, Informatica 8.6.1 and DAC 10.1.3.4.1.patch.20100901.0520. This runs on Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 with 6 GB of memory. I set $$INITIAL_EXTRACT_DATE='01/01/2011' so it should pull data greater than $$INITIAL_EXTRACT_DATE, which I believed not more than 3 years data and should be not more than 2 days for loading this data. But execution plan keeps running and not yet completed even after more than 2 days. I have already checked for DAC execution plan log, But nothing I can found from the log.

After certain tasks I found Informatica workflow did not run. In my case after 190 of 403 tasks but sometime 183 of 403 tasks so it is intermittent.

How can I import db column comments into the OBIEE presentation layer?
We have a very well designed data mart - it is a star schema and all the fact and dimension table columns have comments in them with their definition and use. There is virtually no change required in the physical or business layer. The only modifications done in the presentation layer was to hide the Pk/Fk columns.
Is there a way to import these column comments into the presentation layer so that the business user can see this comment in the tool tip while hovering over the presentation column in Answers?

I assume the comments you mean are stored in user_tab_comments and user_col_comments.
When this is the case you should do the following:
Go to your subject area in your presentation layer. For now I assume the name of this subject area is "Subject Area".
Then right click on this subject area and check "Externalize Descriptions".
Then create an initialization block (session) using this query:
(select 'CD_Subject_Area_' || table_name, comments from user_tab_comments)
union all
(select 'CD_Subject_Area_' || table_name || '_' || column_name, comments from user_col_comments)
Use "Row-wise initialization" for this initialization block.
Two comments:
1) Like I said, I assume Subject Area is the name of your subject area in your presentation layer, so I guess you need to replace this with the name of your Subject Area.
But be sure that you replace each space ' ' with an underscore '_'.
2) Maybe you need to refine above querys by filtering on table_name for those table_names you are using.

Question
I have completed the BAW ETL load from my EBS 11.5.10 source system and am trying to reconcile the data in the warehouse with the EBS data to ensure it has loaded successfully. I have started by running Parameterised General Ledger -> Trial Balance OOTB Dashboard reports in BI against similar parametrised Trial Balance Summary reports in EBS, and they have successfully reconciled in my local currency (AUD). However, I need to add the "Local" currency columns to the OOTB request when I run a report against a foreign currency (GBP).
This is all easily done but it is time consuming. Can anyone out there share with us all their techniques for reconciling data volumes and values, specifically for EBS 11.5.10 data source?

We were trying to adjust the # of prune days for an incremental load, when we discovered the change was having no effect.
Our situation - JDE*
Looking at the parameters in DAC, we found that the incremental condition in the SDEs is:
date >= *$$LAST_EXTRACT_JDEDATE*
In DAC, this parameter expands to:
TO_NUMBER(TO_CHAR(TO_DATE('@DAC_$$TGT_REFRESH_DATE'), 'DDD'))+(TO_NUMBER(TO_CHAR(TO_DATE('@DAC_$$TGT_REFRESH_DATE'), 'YYYY')) -1900) * 1000
If one keeps digging,
+$$TGT_REFRESH_DATE = @DAC_TARGET_REFRESH_TIMESTAMP in custom format, MM/DD/YYYY+
Compared to EBS*
Now, if I look at the *$$LAST_EXTRACT_DATE* parameter (used in EBS SDEs)
It expands to:
+@DAC_SOURCE_PRUNE_REFRESH_TIMESTAMP in custom format, MM/DD/YYYY+
Conclusion and question*
Obviously the Julian date conversion is required in $$LAST_EXTRACT_JDEDATE, but apparently the prune days are being considered in $$LAST_EXTRACT_DATE and not in $$LAST_EXTRACT_JDEDATE.
An obvious fix is to use @DAC_SOURCE_PRUNE_REFRESH_TIMESTAMP in $$LAST_EXTRACT_JDEDATE, but I don't know if that would have any side effects. I'll test it.
I'll raise a SR with Oracle, but wanted to check if you guys had seen this before.

Financial Analytics Reports in Local Currency
Advise needed to help in configuring BI Apps such that the Financial Analytics reports (GL, Payables, Profitability & Receivables) show the transaction values in local currency i.e. INR instead of the default global currency USD.
I have changed the source parameter values in the DAC Container Setup while loading the data from an EBS R12 instance. The following source parameters values have been changed to INR from USD -
$$GLOBAL1_CURR_CODE (for the document currency)
$$GLOBAL2_CURR_CODE (for the local currency)
$$GLOBAL3_CURR_CODE (for the global currency)
However, the Finacial Analytics Reports do not show any transactional values for the selected Ledger (having INR as the global currency). The data is populated in the Local Closing Amount, Local Opening Amount etc columns of the Fact - GL Balance but no data is populated in the Closing Amount (Global), Opening Amount(Global) etc columns.
Please advise to resolve the above mentioned localization issue in Financial Analytics.

Financial Analytics - limiting load to specific set of books

we are running POC for Financial Analytics BI Apps 7.9.6 and we are limiting load into OBAW tables to specific set of books from source EBS (using SET_OF_BOOKS_ID_LIST and $$FILTER_BY_SET_OF_BOOKS_ID DAC parameters) - I was a litlle bit digging in Informatica mappings definition and suprisingly found, that those parameters are just used for load of some fact tables (e.g. W_GL_BALANCE_F etc... ), but is not used to load corresponding dimension tables - like W_LEDGER_D or W_GL_ACCOUNT_D or W_GL_GROUP_ACCOUNT_D - which I would expect to be filtered by specified set of books as well - does anybody know, what tables are filtered by those parameters and what is the reason for not restricting all corresponding tables ?

I think you're saying that you noticed that the mappings/mapplets that load some of the tables (W_GL_ACCOUNT_D or W_GL_BALANCE_F, etc) are not using any logic to filter by your "set of books id list."
Have you checked the mappings that load the staging and temp tables?
For example: W_GL_BALANCE_F_TMP, W_GL_BALANCE_FS
The reason you're not seeing the "set of books id list" might be that the logic was applied to one of the staging or temp tables (a source for the _f table). Thus it would be redundant to re-apply this logic.
For example:
Notice that SIL_GLBalanceFact uses W_GL_BALANCE_FS as a source table (and loads the W_GL_BALANCE_F table).
But, SDE_ORA_GLBalanceFact is the mapping that loads the W_GL_BALANCE_FS table. The logic for "set of books id list" is included in this mapping (or actually, mapplet).

Regarding Financial Analytics Full Load in DAC
Hi All,
Today i have started full Load for financial analytics for subject areas : "Revenue, Receivables, Paybles, General Ledger, Cost of goods Sold". The issue is "SDE_ORA_GLBlanceFact_Full", "SDE_ORA_GLJournals_Full" these two tasks failed due Database driven error(Unable to execute the query in Sourcequalifier). Because of these two tasks remaining tasks are gone into "Stopped" status in DAC. Out of 400 tasks only 56 tasks successful, 342 in stopped status, 2 failure. Can anyone please tell me how to resolve the error and start the remaining tasks. Please guide me if am i miss any steps while configuration.

Issue adding a new column to OBIEE presentation layer
Hi,
I am pretty new to OBIEE so this may be a silly question. I am facing some problems trying to add a new column from a physical table the OBIEE presentation layer.
Below are the steps I followed:
Task: add a product category set to the presentation layer.
Steps:
1) First verified that the product category set is being populated in the W_PROD_CAT_DH table in the datawarehouse. this was done by running the following sql
SELECT W_PROD_CAT_DH.TOP_LVL_PRODCAT_NAME
FROM W_PROD_CAT_DH, W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D
WHERE W_PROD_CAT_DH.integration_id = W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D.INV_PROD_CAT1
This sql gave the right category value.
2) created a "Alias" of the table W_PROD_CAT_DH in the OBIEE Admin tool physical layer. (done by right clicking W_PROD_CAT_DH >>New Object>> Alias)
3) named the Alias of W_PROD_CAT_DH as "Dim_W_INV_MKT_CAT" and created a key of the alias named "integration id" on the column "integration_id"
4) opened the pre-existing alias of W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D the alias was called "Dim_W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D" and added a key called "MKT_CAT" on the column "INV_PROD_CAT1" in this alias (Dim_W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D of the table W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D)
5) in the alias of the "W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D" called "Dim_W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D" added a "Foreign Keys" the expression of the key is following: ("Oracle Data Warehouse"."Catalog"."dbo"."Dim_W_INV_MKT_CAT"."INTEGRATION_ID" = "Oracle Data Warehouse"."Catalog"."dbo"."Dim_W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D"."INV_PROD_CAT1")
Logical layer
6) Opened the existing logical folder called "Dim - Inventory Product" and clicked on "Sources" tab then double clicked the source "Dim_W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D" and added a new mapping under "Map to these tables" under "General" tab. The column that was added was the physical alias "Dim_W_INV_MKT_CAT"
7) added a new column mapping to the same logical table source (Dim_W_Inventory_PRODUCT_D) this new mapping was a column from the alias "Dim_W_INV_MKT_CAT" (column name "TOP_LVL_PRODCAT_NAME")
Presentation Layer
8) dragged the newly added column (TOP_LVL_PRODCAT_NAME) from the logical layer "Dim - Inventory Product" to the presentation layer "Product" folder.
ISSUE
after adding everything and checking global consistency and save and checking-in my work when i login from the front end presentation services. I see the newly added column is showing under the "Product" folder. on dragging the column by itself to the Ad-Hoc analysis I can see the different values of the category. On adding a second column from the same logical folder (Dim - Inventory Product in logical layer) i still see the right product name and corresponding category. BUT when I drag any other column from any other folder (such as "Day" from "Time" or any fact values) the result does not fetch any data (message: The specified criteria didn't result in any data.)
I am not sure if I am missing any step but I know I am mapping the new table alias to the inventory_product_d since i see right results on creating analysis of columns in those two folders. but no other folders give me any data.
I also know that the logical folder "Dim - Inventory Product" is joined with other tables as I can see results when i do not add the newly added catagory column but other folder and other columns of "Dim - Inventory Product"
I would really appreciate any insight to this very much. we are using OBIEE 11.1.1.6 with the Oracle 11.5.10 Adaptor (SDE_ORA11510_Adopter)

Hiding columns in Presentation Layer, but still accessible in a report.
Hi BI Devs,
I have a question on how to hide certain columns in the presenation layer but still make them available in a dashboard/report.
We have 3 sections in our Presenatation Layer...section_a, section_b, section_c. We have two groups created, group_max and group_lite. Group_max will have access to all the sections in the presentation layer but group_lite will only have access to section_a and section_b
We have a report in a dashboard (lets call it full_dashboard) that contains columns from section_a, section_b and section_c. We want all users (group_max and group_lite) to have access to the report, run the report and return data.
Our requirement is that the group_lite will not have access to the section_c in "Answers".
When we set the permissions in the RPD for the different sections, the permissions work correctly in hiding the section_c from group_lite, but when they run the report full_dashboard, the report errors out for group_lite users.
Is there a way to grant access to the group_lite users so that they can run full_dashboard but still deny them access to the columns in Answers?Here is my thinking about duplicationg the section_c
1. If i duplicate section_c, it will still be visible to group_lite in the presenation layer.
2. If i duplicate section_c, i will have to change the dashboard (a very complex one too) to point to the duplicated section. How will I be able to hide the duplicated section?
I am just not sure how to hide section_c from the group_lite users and still have the reports in the dashboard access the columns, without having to change the report.

Usage of LOCALE in Localization of Presentation Layer metadata

This is about usage of LOCALE in Localization of Presentation Layer metadata.
The value of WEBLANGUAGE variable can be directly passed to the initialization block (2nd Initialization block ) which contains the sql:
select SESSION_VARIABLE, TRANSLATION from external where LANGUAGE = ‘VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.LOCALE)’
So that, it comes to have the below sql:
select SESSION_VARIABLE, TRANSLATION from external where LANGUAGE = ‘VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.WEBLANGUAGE)’
This avoids the need of using extra Initialization Block for LOCALE variable.
Is there is any need to use and initialize LOCALE ?Each interactive object remains active even if it is covered by a non-interactive object.
