Oracle 10g (aix) dbms_job dbms_scheduler delayed

Hello,
We have a procedure with a run time of +- 15 minutes that has to be finished before a certain hour (let's call it proc A).
We already have a lot of jobs (using dbms_job) running and taking all the night and the whole morning before they are terminated.
With these jobs, we know that when one of them is taking too long or failing, the other ones are stucked, and the whole chain is compromised.
We tried the dbms_scheduler for the proc A, hopping there would be no delays, but there is some delay, and this is a problem.
Is it possible to force the execution of a job while another job is already running ?

Yes I think it would be better, but it will not be done right now for several reasons...
I don't know how our instance is configured, but I can sure you it is a FIFO system for our jobs, and we don't want to let several jobs running concurrently.
But the proc A has no impact on the others jobs, so we would like that job start at the time we want?

O is mandatory to install the Interim Patches to continue installing of SM.

If you take a look at the note, Oracle/SAP have change the patches policy.
Currently there is only ONE "patch" to be installed.
It is called a SAP patch Bundle (or something like that)
It contains the latest PSU, and all required SAP individual patches.
It must be installed with Mopatch.
it has been released the 10th of this month.
This can facilitate the task of installing patches (only one to "take care off"

For 10g there exist two ways to do so.
1) Regular exp/imp.
2) Data pump expdp/impdp.
As this is your first export and import activity, relevant concept understanding is mandatory for you.

mmmh. Did you compared the select count(*) from your_table; in the two cases.
If the result is not good and nobody has deleted rows between migration and your test, you migration need to be replayed.
Which migration did you select, Transportable database or exp/imp...?

Oracle 10g R2 dbms_scheduler ora-00054

I am using dbms_scheduler in Oracle 10g R2 to process a list of requests in a table queue. I am using job chains in my package. I realize that, at times, one of the chain step can fail with Ora-00054 error. Can we rectify the situation by adding a chain rule that if job failed due to Ora-00054 error, execute 'dbms_scheduler.alter_running_chain(jobname,stepname,'STATE','NOT_STARTED') and expect the job to run again?

It is possible to do this. Let the step which fails be step-x You would need to create a new step e.g. rerun-step-x which points to a program that would do an alter running chain to set both step-x and rerun-step-x to not _started.
In the rule you would check if ':step-x:state=''FAILED'' and :step-x.error_code=54' and if so start rerun-step-x .

Might be a little late for you but maybe for others. If the installer hangs on your exact point you don't have X11 redirection enabled.
