Oracle 10g--change port of service bound to 8080

I've installed 10g on a windows 2000 machine already running a j2ee application container. There is a conflict on port 8080. What is the oracle service running on port 8080--another servlet engine? How can I change this port? I haven't found this in the documentation.
Thanks,
Howard

It's the xdb service bound on port 8080. Apparently several methods exist for changing the port. Config file actually stored inside oracle.

  • Installed Oracle 10g on Windows XP Service Pack 2 won't open admin page

When I go to the home page and login, it just comes back to the login screen instead of the admin screen. I know it's processing the login because it will tell me if I use a bad password.

    hello,
Was your oracle 10g installation successfull or not?. Please make sure all oracle services are running or not. You can check them as mentioned below.
    start->run->services.msc
    check for these services.
    a) OracleDBConsole<SID>
    b) OracleOraDB10g_home1TNSListener
    c) OracleService<SID>
If any of the services is down please try to start it.

  • Oracle 10g Listener Port Changes after every Restart

    Hi All,
I have installed Oracle10g in my Laptop and was working fine till last week, but now when I start the Listener, it is starting with different port number other than the default port 1521. ( For example first time Listener started with port number 3110, then after restarting the Listener it becomes 3313, and so on) That means server is assigning different port numbers on every time when the listener starts.
Because of this I am not able to connect to the database.
How to make the Listener port as default 1521 permenantly.
    Please help.
    Regards

    Hi,
Can you please check the listener.ora file? Do you have the port number
    mentioned as 1521 as below:
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = my_server_name_fully_qualified)(PORT = 1521))

  • How can i install oracle 10g on linux cluster

    Dear all:
please advice How can i install oracle 10g on linux cluster service ..
    thanks ,,

Without RAC, you can only have one instance manage the database. One instance = one set of processes communicating via IPC.
Unless you know of a way to have processes use memory-based IPC across nodes, you need to pick a node and install & run the database software on that node.

  • Web access of oracle 10g (10.1.2.0.0) Application

    Hi,
I've migrated my application from Tomcat and JBoss to Oracle 10g (10.1.2.0.0).
I am able to access my application by url
    http://localhost:7200/index.jsp or http://127.0.0.1:7200/index.jsp.
But when I am trying to access my application by giving m/c name or m/c ip address insted of localhost in the above url, i am not getting access to the application.
Do I need to configure any where for remote access of my web application?
    Thanks
    Bhogi

I got the fix for the issue posted by me few days back.
In Oracle 10g AS, port 7200 is diagnosis port, which will only work for localhost or 127.0.0.1.
The application is accessable on the configured http port (default 7777)

i wanted to change the same to
    http://10.33.20.6:8080/pls/apex1/apex
please Help me out in this,
    its is Very URGENT PLEASE
    Many thanks

This is unlikely to be any help becaue your URL specified 'pls' in the path indicating that you are using mod_plsql, but but you might like to check that you are not inadvertently servicing your Apex instance with the embedded PL/SQL gateway.
Check to see if you are using EPG with the simple sql :
    SELECT DBMS_XDB.GETHTTPPORT FROM DUAL;
If value returned is 7777 then you appear to be using EPG.
    Change the port using EXEC DBMS_XDB.SETHTTPPORT(8080);
    And then navigate your http://10.33.20.6:8080/pls/apex
As I said it's unlikely to be any help but wort checking all the same.

    Hi Justin,
Please get the answers of your queries
The error you're getting is coming from the SMTP server you are trying to connect to.
    - What SMTP server is your database configured to use?
    Reply - I am using IIS(5.0)
    - What SMTP server is the database where this code is working configured to use?
Reply - Same IIS. Database is installed locally on my machine only. I am trying to send mail locally to me only,Not to the outside person.
    - Has the SMTP server been configured to allow connections from both machines?
    Reply - Yes
One more query, do we really require to set the SMTP_OUT_SERVER parameter for SCOPE=BOTH
    ALTER SYSTEM SET smtp_out_server = '172.16.1.10' SCOPE=BOTH
I am not able to set like this for BOTH,only for SPFILE i can set ?.
    My SMTP Server IP=172.16.1.10
    PORT- 25

  • How To Execute an Oracle 10g SProc using VS 2005, for Reporting Services

    Good day! :-)
Anybody who knows the syntax for executing an Oracle Stored Proc thru ODBC connection using VS 2005 for Reporting Services? I am having a problem about this.
I am using the ODBC connection because VS 2005 does not support Oracle Database 10g in its Oracle Database Connection feature (only 7.3, 8i, and 9i), that's y.
While using MS SQL Server 2000, I never encountered any problem. But using Oracle Database 10g, I find it hard to call the stored procedures, an error is generated everytime.
Please click the link below for the screenshots:
    http://www.geocities.com/vrcode2/oraError.JPG
    http://www.geocities.com/vrcode2/storedProc.JPG
    Please help...thank you so much.
    Francis

I'll give you updates about the use of the MS SQL Server Reporting Services with VS 2005 and Oracle, this might be helpful for those who will encounter this same ctuation in the future.
I have discovered that if you're going to connect thru ODBC, even if the connection is successful, the user is still prompted to input a password, which should not be the case when using the Reporting Services. Another thing to take note is the issue about REF CURSOR, we're going to have problems with this. And also the syntax on how you're going to call the stored procedures (with or without input parameters).
With modifications made through Oracle Net Manager, and I tried AGAIN connecting through "Oracle (client)" feature of VS 2005 (even if the list only include Oracle 7.3, 8i, and 9i that are supported) with some changes also, you'd still be able to generate correct data with that solution. If the configuration is correct, you just need to call the stored procedure (with or without input parameter), you won't have any problems about the correct syntax.
I suppose VS 2005 was released earlier than Oracle 10g, that's why 10g wasn't included If ever u'd encounter the same ctuation like mine, and u need the details on how to connect, do not hesitate to ask me.

  • Regarding Services in Oracle 10g RAC

    Hi All,
We are having Oracle 10g RAC (10.2) on Linux machines.  We don't have any services configured failover. This can be visible from srvctl config database -d, as nothing related services information is displayed.
I even checked failover_type and Failover_method from GV$session and for all it's showing None. We have only default database service (same as database name).
    My question is:
Can I modify/configure this default service as failover/loadbalance enabled using srvctl? If so, please let me know.
PS: I can't provide any output here as our client network doesn't permit copying.
    Regads,
    Kumar

    Hi,
THank you for your inputs. Below is the configurations settings of my environment.

  • How to change the firewall settings to provide remorte access to oracle 10g

    dear all
I have created the oracle 10g database and it is working properly...but I cant loging with thedata base remotely when the host's firewall is on..when it is off I can connect with the database remotely..how can I change the firewall settings in this case

You need to configure your firewall to allow traffic on the ports listed in ORACLE_HOME\install\portlist.ini.
You do not need to allow all of the ports, just the ports you want to allow traffic. For example if you are not using iSQL Plus you do not have to open port 5560 or the range 5560–5579.
You can find a description of the ports at the following link.

  • Shared services  9.3.1  configuration  to connect to oracle 10g xe fails

I am trying to install Hyperion shared services on Windows XP media center. I have Apache Tomcat running as localhost and Oracle 10g express edition running as database. When I try to install hyperion shared services, the installation process goes well until database configuration details.
I can see my server name, Port: 1521. Then I have a table with other details
Product SID User Name Password DataTablespace Index Tablespace.
I enter the password used to connect to oracle database as "admin" in shared services.
    User Name = hypuser
    SID = hypdb
    Product = Hyperion
Then I click next. I keep receiving this error message " Unable to connect to the database for product hyperion shared services".
Can some one tell me what the problem is?
Backuperror notepad shows: System error 1060 has occurred.
The specified service does not exist as an installed service.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
First of all "Windows XP media center" is not an officially supported O/S so you may experience issues.
Before you configure the database you will have you have created a schema for HSS in Oracle, for example if you created a schema called HSS with password of hyperion then the connection details will be
    SID : XE
    username : HSS
    password : hyperion
The SID is usally XE by default on oracle express editions.
    Cheers
    John
