Oracle 10G DB + 9.2 odbc driver error 12154

I installed on a Windows 2003 Server the Oracle 10G XE database.
then I installed the oracle client Version 9.2.0.1.0 where I only Installed the client and the windows services.
Why I installed the client in Version 9.2.0.1.0: I need the ODBC Driver in Version 9.2.0.0.0 for another software.
The Problem: When i try to connect via the Oracle odbc driver 9.2.0.0.0 (test connection),
I always get Error 12154 . On my Windows 2000 machine where I tested it, it works fine.
It also works fine when I use the odbc driver 10.2 from the XE installation.
Thanks in advance

Solved!

  • Where can I find Oracle 8.1.6.1 ODBC Driver

I am looking for Oracle 8.1.6.1 ODBC Driver. The current downloads at Oracle site do not have the exact version. I would appreciate if anybody could direct me to the link where I can get this driver.
    Thanks

Is there a reason that you can't use the newer 8.1.6.2 driver? Generally, Oracle doesn't make all the older versions available for download.

  • MS Visual Studio 2005 + Oracle 10g = Cannot connect to ODBC error: 12154

    Hi there!
I've read so many threads of same kind of problems but always some key elements seems to be missing so I cannot solve my problem with the solutions in those threads. So, I'll do my own.
    Our environment is...
We have Oracle 8 database with all the data that we have. Now we have our new server, SQL Server 2005 installed and I am trying to transfer data from Oracle to SQL using MS Visual Studio 2005 using available ODBC drivers. System is Windows 2003 64Bit on intel based hardware.
    Current installations and settings
I have installed Oracle 10g 32bit and 64bit to separate foldes. Then I made tnsnames and sqlnet files with right settings to specified folders and tested connection with tnsping <servername> command.
Both, 64bit and 32bit connections are working. (Used 32bit CMD for 32bit connection test)
    ODBC
I added Microsoft ODBC for Oracle as 32bit driver and Oracle 10g driver for 64bit environment as ODBC driver.
Both environments uses same ODBC names: Myserver and Mytestserver
    Debug
First, when I only had 64bit version of ODBC, I had a warning which said that I am using incompatible version of ODBC driver. Then I read from here that I can install 32bit client also and use drivers from that on 32bit ODBC environment and get rid of that message.
Tried to connect Oracle DB with SQL-Plus and it works.
    Visual studio 2005 SP2
I have tried to use .Net Providers/Oracle Client dataprovider and .Net Providers for OleDB/Microsoft Old DB for Oracle and also .Net Providers for OldDB/Oracle provider for OldDB
Frist two gives me an error: ORA-12154 TNS: Could not resolve the connect identifier specified
Last one says that OraOldDB.oracle.1 is not registered on local machine
I have absolutily no idea what I can try next?
Anyone who has more ideas? Suggest anything. I might have tried that already, but give a shot anyway. :)

  • Odbc driver error while connecting with Oracle BI in Linux

I have Oracle BI Server, Presentation Service and Oracle 11g Client installed in RHEL 5. Oracle BI client is installed in Windows so that I can use Admin tool.
I have created a repository in Windows for sh schema(by creating ODBC). After that I transferred this repository to the ..server/repository in the linux server.
I have installed Oracle ODBC Driver from EASYSOFT and added one odbc data source for sh schema in the ../setup/odbc.ini.
My ODBC setting is as follows.
    [ODBC Data Sources]
    sh=Oracle in OraDb11g_home1
    [sh]
    Driver=/usr/local/easysoft/oracle/libesoracle.so
    Database=//ipaddress_of_ORACLE_SERVER:port/database_service_name
    UID=sh
    PWD=sh
When I am trying to query through Oracle Answers I am getting the following error.
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 16023] The ODBC function has returned an error. The database may not be available, or the network may be down. (HY000)
SQL Issued: SELECT Customers."Cust First Name" saw_0 FROM SH ORDER BY saw_0
I have enabled tracing, but I am not getting any clue from trace output.
    Can anybody please help.
If it is because of wrong driver, can anybody suggest a proper ODBC Driver for Oracle and how to configure it. If the driver is OK and configuration is wrong, can anybody tell me how to create system dsn in linux?
    Thanking you in advance.

don't use ODBC for Oracle, use OCI
search on the forum, there's plenty of information about it.

  • Oracle in instantclient_11_2 ODBC driver error 14001

    Hi there,
I've tried to set up an Oracle ODBC Instant Client driver and I get this error:
"The setup routines for the Oracle in instantclient_11_2 ODBC driver could not be loaded to system error code 14001
    "Errors found

    My Configuration is :

    - VMTools activated
    - Oracle 11gR2 64 bits (11.2.0.1.0)
    - Instant Client: instantclient-basic-nt-11.2.0.2.0.zip + instantclient-odbc-nt-11.2.0.2.0.zip
    Path is :

What can be done to rectify this?

    Hi,
I had exactly the same problem with a comparable system configuration, but with the x86-64 packages (you tried to use the 32bit instant client due to the file names you mentioned).
Somewhere in the depths of the WWW I got the hint that the solution is to use the instant client V 11.2.0.1.0.
So I downloaded the older version and everything worked fine...
Also rememeber to set the TNS_ADMIN environment variable to the path of your "instantclient_11_2" directory and edit a tnsnames.ora file in that directory or else you won't be able to open a connection...
    Good luck and best regards

  • Odbc driver error while OBIEE instal on LINUX tries to access Datawarehouse

    Hi All,
I have installed OBI Apps on a LINUX machine. The ETL too ran successfully. As we can't install BI tool on LINUX I modified the OracleBIAnalyticsApps.rpd file on a Windows machine and copied it back to the LINUX machine. After modifying the NSQConfig.ini file I could see all the OBI Apps answers and Dashboards ie OBI Apps was installed on LINUX.But whwnever I try to access some data from OLAP i get the following error:
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).
    Error Details
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P

SQL Issued: SELECT Time."Year" FROM "Human Resources - Workforce Profile" ORDER BY 1
Probably this is because all the DSN specified in the rpd file were present on the Windows machine.I don't know how to modify these values for LINUX.Please help.Nothing is mentioned in the install docc as far as LINUX installation is concerned.
    regards,
    Soumya.

I think when your BI Server is running on linux, you would use native drivers to connect to your data warehouse database and not ODBC. If your data warehouse is on a oracle db server, change the call interfact in the RPD connection pool to OCI and give the tnsname for the db server connection in the connection pool.

  • UnixODBC and Oracle 10.2.0.3 ODBC driver - Batch inserts not supported?

We're trying to use the 10.2.0.3 Oracle ODBC driver for Linux, with UnixODBC 2.2.11 (on CentOS 5.2).
Most things work fine, but when we call:
    SQLSetStmtAttr(_stmtHandle, SQL_ATTR_PARAMSET_SIZE, (SQLPOINTER)rowSize, 0);
It returns -1, and the error returned is:
ODBC error: (IM001) - [unixODBC][Driver Manager]Driver does not support this function
(The same thing when trying to set SQL_ATTR_PARAM_BIND_TYPE (setting it to SQL_PARAM_BIND_BY_COLUMN).
Has anyone seen this before? What could we be doing wrong?

I've tried the 10.1 ODBC driver and it seems to work correctly.
Now I'd like to know if Oracle has the intention of making available a new version of the XE Client in the near future or if the adoption of the previous version is the only solution...

  • Odbc Driver error when using specific date column

I am receiving the this error:
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).
    Error DetailsError Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 46036] Internal Assertion: Condition len <= desc->objectLength_, file ..\Oci8\Src\SQXDGOci8.cpp, line 614. (HY000)
It happens when I try to to set criteria on a specific date column or I do not set criteria at all. If I set date column 1 to greater than 4 or so months back the report returns, along with all the dates from date column 2. But if I then try to set date column 2 as the criteria, no matter if I just ask for data from a week until today, I receive this error. I tried changing the Server Stack size to 512, but that did not help. Anyone have an idea on this???

You seem to be using an ODBC connection with an Oracle database, is that correct? If so you should install the Oracle client and use the OCI driver instead and it is much faster and stable than ODBC.

  • Informix ODBC driver error while creating a view in Designer

I nedd to ceate a view in a universe (Business Objects XI R2) that is connected to an Informix database. I use the 3.34 ODBC Informix driver.
When I write the select statement (select column from table) and check the syntax I have the following error:
"Exception: DBD, [Informix][Informix ODBC Driver][Informix]A syntax error has occurred.State: 42000"
Is there anybody who has solved this problem??
Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me hints on how to solve problem.
    Fabrizio

    Hi Fabrizio,
The error state 42000 indicates that there is a syntax error or access violation. If you are using an Informix native client connection then add the following parameter <Parameter Name>"Force SQLExecute">Always</Parameter> in the informix.sbo file. Restart Designer and then try to create a derived table with a simple select statement.
If you are using an ODBC connection, then add the above mentioned parameter in the Generic section of odbc.sbo file.

  • Oracle 10g on Windows server 2008 R2 - error : Logon failed. Details: ADO

    Hello,
    I have installed Oracle 10g 64bit client on Windows 2008 R2 64bit server. I have installed Visual studio framework 2.0 and 3.5 on Application Server i.e. Windows 2008 R2 64bit Server.
But when i run report from server, it shows following error message :
*Logon failed. Details: ADO Error Code: 0x Source: ADODB.Connection Description: Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed. Error in File C:\Windows\TEMP\testreport {FE5A4BC0-DF74-4E58-87F1-0F203501A3FC}.rpt: Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters.*
I have created report with design time connection with oracle 10g tables. It runs in my development machine. but when i deployed on windows 2008 r2 bit server, it raised above error. After that, i created another report with command instead of using design time database connection with table, it run on server smoothly.
So Pls help me to come out from this problem.
If anyone has solution for it, pls share it
    Thanks in Advance
    Keyur

Today I installed all software in following order.
    1) First install oracle 10g 32bit client & 64bit client on windows 2008 R2 development server.
    2) After oracle installation, I installed visual studio 2005 and tested crystal report on server in debug mode. It was working completely.
(Both type of report - report created with the help of command in crystal report & crystal report created in direct reference of database table)
Then i published my test project and setup on same server for clientside testing. but on client machine, it shows error message.
that was : The type initializer for 'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument' threw an exception.
One more thing i have observed that was report created with help of command in crystal report was working on client machine. But report in which i have added table direclty, was generating above error.
Then i installed crredist2005_x86.msi and crredist2005_x64.msi from visual studio installed folder. After installation, error message changed on clinet machine.
Error Message : Logon failed. Details: Error Code: 0x Source: ADODB.Connection Description: Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed. Error in File C:\Windows\TEMP\tablesource {EE65A074-2C4E-43DE-A3FC-1FE673093BF1}.rpt: Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters
Still in debug mode on server, asp.net project is working with crystal report. I think, when i run asp.net project in debug mode on server, project may be run on 32bit mode. When i run same project from published setup on client machine, it may be run on 64bit mode.
I can't understand how to solve this problem.
    Pls. help me.
    Thanks in Advance

  • Oracle 10g (10.2.0.1) installation error

Hi everyone !!! I know that Oracle doesn't support FreeBSD but I'm my problem is probably stopping a decision of choosing Oracle as a project database. This means licenses guys!!!!! Can you please just guide me for a solution to my problem?
I need to test Oracle 10g in FreeBSD. I've installed FreeBSD 7 from the ISOs in Freebsd homepage with full base system and full packages. I've then activated the linux_base-fc4 linux emulation port and compile a new kernel version for Oracle with:
    options COMPAT_LINUX
    options SEMMAP=128
    options SEMMNI=128
    options SEMMNS=32000
    options SEMOPM=100
    options SEMMSL=250
    options SHMMAXPGS=262144
    options SHMMNI=4096
    options SHMSEG=4096
    options MAXDSIZ="(1024*1024*1024)"
    options MAXSSIZ="(1024*1024*1024)"
    options DFLDSIZ="(1024*1024*1024)"
I've then created an Oracle account with the /compat/linux/bin/bash sheel for linux compatability. I unzip the 10201_..... oracle zip for linux and run the installer from within oracle account.
I've manage to solve a lot of problems but with this one I'm stucked!!! At 62% I receive a message box saying "Error invoking target 'relink' of makefile ins_precomp.mk". I go to the make.log and I see:
    /usr/bin/make -f ins_precomp.mk relink ORACLE_HOME=/home/oracle/10gR2 EXENAME=proc/Linking /home/oracle/10gR2/precomp/lib/proc

I can't find out what is missing. Can you give me an idea?

Hi everyone !!! I know that Oracle doesn't support FreeBSD but I'm my problem is probably stopping a decision of choosing Oracle as a project database. This means licenses guys!!!!! Can you please just guide me for a solution to my problem?
Since you are calling the 'Licenses guys' I assume you have a valid Oracle License for your project. Don't expect Oracle support services to monitor this forum, everyone here are regular oracle users and we are not in any way related with Oracle Support.
If you have a valid Oracle CSI you should raise a SR in Metalink. And since you already know FreeBSD is not a supported platform, then there are no surprises, you know where the problem is. It may work after some workarounds, but you are on your own and dessuported. The only free linux supported by Oracle is OEL, and if you are planning to use Oracle it means you should change the OS.
