Oracle 10gR2: Connection refused

Hi,
I've installed 10gR2 into Windows 2000 Server SP4.
When I use web enterprise manager to connect to the db, I can do it but I get the following error:
java.lang.Exception: IOException in sending Request :: Connection refused: connect.
I also verified the user DBSNMP is unlocked and I tried to launch the "$orapwd file".
thanks,
Francesco

Hi,
The Entterprise Manager Application depends on the HttpServer and the EMConsole application. The Server and the application need to be stated before using the Enterprise Manager.
1. Check if the Http Server is up & running. You can check with this command : $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmcntl status. If it isn't up, you can start it with this command : $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmcntl startall
2. Check if the EMConsole is up & running. You can check it with this command : $ORACLE_HOME\bin\emctl status iasconsole. If it isn't up, you can start it with this command: ORACLE_HOME\bin\emctl start iasconsole.

  • WLS 10.3.0.0 Solaris SPARC and DBMS Oracle 10gR2 connection pooling issue

    Hi all,
we are currently testing Weblogic Server 10.3.0.0 in order to migrate our production system from WLS 8.1 to it.
While testing the new setup, we encountered some strange behaviour of the connection pooling within WLS.
We configured a XA-Connection pool to our DB (Oracle 10gR2) by using
    a) the Oracle XA-thin-driver delivered within WLS 10.3.0.0
    and alternatively
    b) the Oracle 11.2.0.2 OCI-driver of the Oracle 11g database client.
We´ve got the same issue with both variants. We defined an initial capacity of 5 connections and a maximum capacity of 30 connections.
Our application is running flawlessly using the connection pool, but the amount of active sessions between the application server and the database server is increasing rapidly and the maximum capacity is exceeded. We are seeing up to multiple hundreds of sessions from the application server to our database server. Obviously the connections aren´t cleaned up.
We are using the following settings for the JDBC-Connection:
    initial capacity = 5
    max. capacity = 30
    Capacity increment = 1
    Statement cache type = LRU
    Statement cache size = 10
Test connections on reserve = true
    Test frequency = 120
Test table name = "sql select 1 from dual"
seconds to trust an idle pool connection = 10
    shrink frequency = 0
connecttion creation retry frequency = 120
    login delay = 0
    incative connection timeout = 10
max. waiting for connection = 2147483647
    connection reserve timeout= = -1
    Ignare in-use connections = true
    pinned-to-thread = false
remoce infected connections enabled = true
Does anyone have an idea how to track/solve this issue?
    Kind regards
    Marc

    Hi Joe,
we´ve tested with the thin driver using an initial capacity of 5 and a maximum capacity of 15. During our tests (in a very short time period) the maximum capacity has not been exceeded. But we saw some exceptions in the managed server logfile which made us curious.
When these exceptions are occuring, a new connection to the database server is established. We are seeing for a short time a total count of 6 connections which is immediately decreasing to the initial capacity of 5. We will do some further testing over the next hours and monitor the connection usage.
The connection we are dealing with is the one called "ZDB2".
This is an excerpt of the logfile:

  • Oracle 10gR2 connection to other servers

    Hello gurus
i have installed 10gR2 on my machine with Win XP pro on it. i have installed enterprise edition with i downloaded from the oracle website and created a general purpose database on it. Everthing is working very fine on it i can access EM and isqlplus locally .but problem i'm facing is i'm unable to connect to EM to other server . So please suggest what are the steps and wt's the best ways .
    Thanks

It's going to be tough to learn about Enterprise Manager in detail without having an environment that includes multiple systems with enterprise manager agents around. You can use the Grid Control to connect to other databases and use a subset of EM's functionality without having agents installed and/or without have a repository database, it really depends on whether that subset is the functionality you want to learn.
I'm not sure what you mean by "manage grid computing through command line". The Grid Control is an Enterprise Manager GUI. "Grid computing" can refer to a wide range of things-- arguably managing a 10g RAC cluster is "grid computing" and that is certainly possible from the command line.

  • Generic Connectivity -Oracle(10gR2) to MS SQL server - Creating DSN

    Hi,
I am trying to connect Oracle 10gR2(10.2.0.4.0) on linux x86 to MS Sql Server on Windows XP
I am referring the Metalink Note 264567.1 and using DataDirect ODBC drivers for the same
    I have a question here
Do I need to create the System DSN on windows XP or on Oracle (linux server)?
If it is on linux server, how to I create the System DSN on the Linux?
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards,
    Pk

    Hi,
You need to create a DSN on the box where the HSODBC (the oracle db) is running, so in this case the Linux box.
I'd assume there's documentation that comes with the 3rd party odbc driver on how to create a DSN with it. It probably depends on which version of driver manager you're using (pardon my ignorance, I do strictly Windows) so you'd probably want to check the docs for the driver manager. For example, if using unixODBC, the docs are on [their web site|http://www.unixodbc.org/].
    Hope it helps,
    Greg

  • SQL2000 to Oracle 9i Migration - Connection refused

I am having trouble connecting to SQL Server through SQL Developer 1.2.1 Build 32.13.
I am on XP Profesional SP2, had downloaded and install jtds-1.2.2 and when i try to connect i am getting the error, 'Status Failure - Network Error IOException: Connection Refused: connect'
    my default port is 1433
i have enabled the TCP/IP at the Sqlserver and also disabled the firewall
i don't have this problem in sql2005, but sql2000 send me this error..
    Can anyone help me??

Can you telnet to 1433 on machine 1433?
    $ telnet servername 1433

    Connected to servername.ie.oracle.com.

    $ telnet servername 1432
    Trying 10.169.123.125...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
    $
Demonstrating on this network that servername is accepting some sort of connections on 1433
    and not on 1432.
Depending on whether there is something accepting connections will help diagnose where the problem is.

  • ORACLE 9.2.0 thin Connection Refused  Please Help.

I am using the ojdbc14.jar ORACLE JDBC driver. I have installed it in a folder d:\bpa\oracle. I have also set the classpath using the eclipse IDE to the file. I can register the driver no problem

Do I need the oracle client on my machine when I try to run this?... I did not think so...
I am a java newbie so pleeeeeeeeez help

Please, please, please, please do not use the "SYSTEM" account (unless you are a super-duper Oracle DBA and actually want to modify the way Oracle works).
The SYSTEM and SYS accounts are special and primarily for Oracle internal stuff; I'm a 50%-time Oracle DBA and I log in as one of them no more than 6 times a year. I believe it's possible that those accounts can be configured to require local access, which could your problem.
The best way to debug Oracle connection problems (if it doesn't work in JDBC and you don't have a clue), is to figure out your credentials and connection strings using some other product. Oracle's SQL*PLUS client (not the web-based iSQL thingie, but the standalone client) is good for sorting out credentials and confirming remote DB reachability, which is often the problem, but it's not a JDBC-based product and configuring it is a little arcane too if you don't have a handy DBA to help. Still, it's a very powerful tool.
There are also lots of Java/JDBC generic clients, pehaps the simplest to get up and running is HenPlus (sort of a generic SQL*Plus, actually).
    http://henplus.sourceforge.net/
Read the docs, but basically you just give it a JDBC driver and a connection URL and it works (or doesn't). If you can't get that working, then you know there's a problem with the IP, the SID or service (you're using SID format) or the user credentials.

    Hi,
You got these errors because runInstaller can not start the GUI. There are 2 solutions, you can choose one:
    1. logout Gnome/Kde, login as oracle user, and run runInstaller again.
    2.open a new root terminal,
    a) run "xhost +" as root.
    b) run "su - oracle" switch to oracle
    c) run "export DISPLAY=:0.0"
    d) then run "./runInstaller" again.
    cheers.

  • Problems with Enterprise Manager Oracle 10gR2

    Hi,
The installation of 10gR2 on Windows 2000 seems to work.
I only have a problem with web enterprise manager.
I can connect to the database correctly and I can manage the database (creating tables, users and so on).
The only problem is in the first page (home) of the database, accessing with the web enterprise manager.
In fact I get this "error: java.lang.Exception: IOException in sending Request :: Connection refused", but I however access the db.
I verified the DBSNMP user and it's active.
Did someone get the same error?
Excuse if I'm repeating a previous post, but I received answers about linux environment only (I have Windows 2000 server, instead).
    thanks a lot,
    Francesco

We have in fact seen the same error. In our case, it appeared after the network guys moved the Oracle server from one domain to another. (This is not an action that I highly recommend, by the way.)
I used emca to delete the Enterprise Manager agent and recreate it. For a single instance server not in a cluster or on a grid, the commands look like this:
    emca -deconfig dbcontrol db
    emca -config dbcontrol db
That worked just fine. However, we started getting an "account locked" error when the Enterprise Manager started. And the result is the same as you described. The account is not locked by any means. If you ignore what you see on the screen about an error, you can go on and administer the database just fine. It's just when you get back to the home screen, it tells you that your account is locked and you are not in touch with the instance.
I can make the error go away for awhile by stopping and starting the agent with
    emctl stop dbconsole
    emctl start dbconsole
But the error comes back in a little while.
We don't consider it a show stopper, since the database performs normally. It's just one of those things you wish it would not do.

This detailed step-by-step guide was produced with the following article by Jason Price http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/price_10gws.html

    Success!!!
I had to grant this permissions:
    call dbms_java.grant_permission( 'WS_TEST', 'SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'getClassLoader', '' );
    call dbms_java.grant_permission( 'WS_TEST', 'SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'accessClassInPackage.sun.util.calendar', '' );
    call dbms_java.grant_permission( 'WS_TEST', 'SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'setFactory', '' )
    call dbms_java.grant_permission( 'WS_TEST', 'SYS:java.util.PropertyPermission', 'HTTPClient.socket.idleTimeout', 'write' );
    call dbms_java.grant_permission( 'WS_TEST', 'SYS:java.net.SocketPermission', 'localhost', 'resolve' );
    call dbms_java.grant_permission( 'WS_TEST', 'SYS:java.net.SocketPermission', '127.0.0.1:8084', 'connect,resolve' );
As I wrote earlier, WS_TEST is my user into which I load JAX-RPC client. Note that, if you load JAX-RPC client into user another than SYS, you have NOT to use -s -grant public option (wassam wrote about this too). Another thing is that I (finally) didn't load OC4J. To consume WebService I use utl_dbws.invoke(call_Handle CALL, request SYS.XMLTYPE) function.

  • Calling a WebServices From Java Stored Proc fails with Connection refused

I have followed the example in Note:220662.1 on Metalink step by step.
I am using two windows machines (2000 SP4). I have Oracle 9.2.0.5 EE on one of them and OC4J 9.0.4 standalone on the other(running on JVM 1.4.2_05-b04). The 2 servers "see" each other over the network.
I can execute the stub from the database machine:
    C:\WebServices\HelloWorld>java HelloWorldImplWSStub
Hello World - The current time is Sat Aug 21 11:56:20 EDT 2004When running it from the database, I get:
