Oracle 11g R2 Model view DML formulae/programs

Hi All,
We are in the process of migrating our cubes from 10.2 to 11.2. We have lot of DML formulae and programs in object view in our current environment(10g). As 11g R2 does not support Object view we are trying to move all our formuale and programs to model view. We are looking for some guidance/suggestions on this topic.
Our current problems are we have lot of formulae of different dimensionality in our object view for ex if we have 6 dim then we have DML formulae from different combinations of these 6 dimensions which is forcing us to create cubes(logical) of all these different dimension combinations.
I saw somewhere online I can edit awm.properties file and still can use Object view in 11g also. I am not sure that is a best practice. Eventually object view completely gets locked from users in next releases?

The object view is not supported in 11g. While it is true that you can enable it as Brijesh describes, it will not display 11g generated objects correctly. One technical issue is that the java code in the object view attempts to parse the object definition in the client. (e.g. DEFINE xyz VARIABLE INTEGER). It has not been updated with new 11g keywords (such as LOCKDFN), and frequently produces errors or (which is worse) misleading information. You could try OX if you can track down a copy.

    Hi,
I have two Oracle XE databases with the version 11g, now i want to sync both of this dbs using materialized view feature.
I have created base table in primary db and created materialized view in secondary db using db link.
It got created and am able to view the records first time. but when i am selecting view next time its not reflecting changed records.
Please suggest what needs to do to get it reflected in secondary db.
    mv query is as below
    CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW mv_emp_pk
         REFRESH FAST START WITH SYSDATE
         NEXT SYSDATE + 1/86400

    Hi:
I need to install oracle 11g from VNC viewer. The VNC is stalled on linux. I managed login. Now I have a screen that has some icons on the top like, Connection Options, "i", refresh, CTRl, ...
    under that I have
    Accept clipboard from viewers
    Send clipboard to viewers
    Send primary selection to viewers
From the Connection Options window, I checked Hextile for Use encoding and Let remote server deal with mouse cursor.
What is next? How do I connect to the server. (When I login I used hostname:1)
BTW, when I click on "Start TightVNC service" from Start button, I got "Failed to start TightVNC service for the following reason: Access is denied(error code 5).
The VNC on the linux server is running.
    Thankyou.

This is my first post however this forum has been an invaluable resource for me with my development.

    Hi,
did you mean the Runtime repository Browser?
You don´t need to start the Control Center to use him.
Ok, the Runtime Browser needs a Applicationserver Functionalty in the Background, to publish. You can also start an OC4J Instance locally on your Client,
that emules the Functionalty of a Webserver.
The OC4J Module is a Part of the Installtion Products from owb.
I think you still have it installed.
So, note: You don´t need the Control Center to work with this.
Also, you can watch in the Guides, that ORACLE provides in the Documentation Library at :
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/warehouse.html
Another note: If you want to use the Workflow Browser, to monitor the Processes of your Workflows, you have to install a Webserver (Oracle HTTP Server / Apache...) on your Server and create a DAD (Database Access Discriptior)
    Hope that helps
    Regards,
    Lone

  • How do I migrate views from MS SQL 2008 to Oracle 11g through SQL Developer

Is there any way to migrate the views from MS SQL 2008 to Oracle 11g through SQL Developer? Please give me some detail steps. Thanks for your help.

    Hi Turloch,
When I use migrate to oracle, I got a problem, the migrate tool create a new schema for me in my case (AZTECA_KSMMS), it migrates all the stuffs under that schema (AZTECA_KSMMS). However my application need the all the Oracle data under schema AZTECA instead of AZTECA_KSMMS. Is there any way to specify specific schema (AZTECA) for target oracle database? Schema remapping is available:
First Capture (separately) then during right click convert on the captured model there is a Specify the conversion options with a Object Naming tab where the schema (and other) name changes are editable.
I have not used this recently.
Also during the migration process, when I choose repository, there is a check box for truncate to reset repository to empty state, Do I need to check that truncate Check Box so the repository will be cleared from last migration? The repository can hold multple migration attempts. Check truncate to get rid of previous attempts information. This cleans up the repository - not the destination database.
There are also online database and offline database options during the migration process, what are the difference between these two choices? After I migrated to Oracle, all my views has a red cross icon next to it. Does that mean the view migration is failed or not? Please give me your comments. Thanks for your help.offline: for big (amount of data) databases with simple data types,
uses bcp + files + scripts + sqlldr.
online: for small (amount of data) databases (easier),
    uses (Java) jdbc.
The view is likely to be broken - recompiling it may help.
The Oracle schema is created using a .sql file - see under generated in the directory you gave originally in the wizard. There is a .out file that contains the result of running this script including any errors. During conversion there are also likely to be warnings displayed on the UI.
There may be a single issue that is causing multiple issues - if viewa depends on functionb, and functionb is broken, viewa will also fail.

  • Oracle 11g and Supported Programming Languages for application development

    Hi,
Currently we are running our Java application on Oracle 10g Lite. We are planning to upgrade to Oracle 11g Lite very soon. I have below queries to be answered.
    1. What are the programming languages supported for application development to work with Oracle 11g Lite mobile server and client ?
        - i have seen some note saying java and .net are supported. Wanted to know the complete list of supported programming languages on Oracle 10g Lite
    2. Oracle Forms 10g is supported on Oracle 11g Lite platform ?
        - i have some online application running on Oracle 10G Forms. Wanted to extend this to offline model using Oracle 10g Lite
    Thanks,
    Ashok Kumar.G

    Hi Ashok,
    1. What are the programming languages supported for application development to work with Oracle 11g Lite mobile server and client ?
For the 11g version of the product, we changed the name to Oracle Database Mobile Server.    For clarity purposes, there is no product called Oracle 11g Lite mobile server.
For a detailed list of what is/is not supported on the client, please consult the documentation.   See section 2.1 of the Mobile Client guide.  For programming languages you
can use what you want, and we support the following technologies, JDBC, ODBC, ADO.NET.  What you code your application in is up to you.
    2. Oracle Forms 10g is supported on Oracle 11g Lite platform ?
On the database mobile server side of things we do not do testing with Oracle Forms 10g.    I do not know enough about applications developed with the Forms' product.   Database Mobile Server is a product that keeps tracks of changes that occur in a database, and then propagates those changes to an Oracle backend.   We offer 2 way synchronization between an Oracle backend database and a client.  If you are running the Forms application on the Oracle backend and want to propagate changes done out to the client, then this should work.    I say ** should **   because we have not tested it but I cannot think of a reason why it would not work.   It would be up to you to develop the client side application that would look at the data in the client database and display it to the user.    In the 11.x version of the product, we support 2 client databases, Berkeley DB and SQLite.
    thanks

  • Oracle 11G - Update is very slow on View

I have big trouble with some Update query on Oracle 11G.
I have a set of tables (5) of identical structures and a view that consists in an UNION ALL of the 5 tables.
None of this table contains more than 20 000 rows.
    Let's call the view V_INTE_NE. Each of the basic table has a PRIMARY KEY defined on 3 NUMBERS(10,0) -> INTE_REF / NE_REF / INSTANCE.
Now, I get 6 rows in another table and I want to update my view from the data of this small table (let's call it SMALL). This table has the 3 columns INTE_REF / NE_REF / INSTANCE.
When I try to join the two tables :
    SELECT * FROM T_INTE_NE T2
    WHERE EXISTS ( SELECT 1 FROM SMALL T1 WHERE T2.INTE_REF = T1.INTEREF AND T2.NE_REF = T1.NEREF AND T2.INTE_INST = T1.INSTANCE )
I get the 6 lines in 0.037 seconds
When I try to update the view (I have an INSTEAD OF trigger that does nothing (just return for testing even without modifying anything), I execute the following query :
    UPDATE T_INTE_NE T2
    SET INTE_STATE = -11 WHERE
    EXISTS ( SELECT 1 FROM SMALL T1 WHERE T2.INTE_REF = T1.INTEREF AND T2.NE_REF = T1.NEREF AND T2.INTE_INST = T1.INSTANCE )
The 6 rows are updated (at least TRIGGER is called) in 20 seconds.
However, in the execution plan, I can't see where Oracle takes time to achieve the query :
    Plan hash value: 907176690

What could explain the difference ?
I get exactly the same execution plan (when autotrace is ON).
Furthermore, if I try to do the same update on each of the basic tables, I get the rows updated instantaneously.
Is there any reason for avoiding this kind of query ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated :-)
    Regards,
    Patrick

Sorry for this, I lost myself in conjonctures and I didn't think I would have to explain the whole case.
So, I wrote a small piece of PL/SQL that reproduces the same issue.
It seems that my issue is not due to the UPDATE but to the use of the IN predicate.
As you can see at the end of the script, I try to join the 2 tables using different technics.
The first query is very fast, the second is very slow.
I need the second one if I want to do any update.

  • USER_DEPENDENCIES view in oracle 11g and oracle 10g are different?

I have tested oracle 10g and oracle 11g. And I found some different behavior in the user_dependencies view between two oracle version.
In the oracle 10g, whatever referenced object is populated in the user_dependencies view. In the oracle 11g, however, only valid referenced objects are populated in it.
For example, a package, pac_1, references table, ref_tab_1, and package, ref_pac_2. After ref_tab_1 is dropped and ref_pac_2 is invalid, I query to user_dependencies.
    sql> select referenced_name, referenced_type from user_dependencies where name = 'pac_1'.
In oracle 10g, the result is like the following,
    < referenced_type > , < referenced_name >
    non-existent , ref_tab_1
    package , ref_pac_2
In oracle 11g, the result is not showing non-existed object nor invlid object like the following,
    no rows selected
Is that the TRUE or do I missed some when I installed database or created database in 11g?
Is there a way to make the behavior of user_dependencies like it in 10g which shows all the referenced objets?

The ojdbc14.jar file is for use with Java 1.4 VMs.
Are you still using Java 1.4? If so, why?
For Oracle 11g you should be using the latest JDBC jar file (ojdbc6.jar) and the latest version of Java 1.6.
You are not only using an old JDBC driver and Java version but are also trying to mix 32 bit and 64 bit operations.
I suggest you start using recommended practices and update your Java and JDBC versions and select EITHER 32 bit or 64 bit operations.
See the Official JDBC FAQ for the details on the support available for various combinations of Oracle DB, Java and the JDBC drivers:

  • Mapping Variables(Object View) to Measures(Model View)

    Hi,
In my AW, I have created a cube, And then I have created a new variable in the object view and populated it using load programs. Now. when I try to create a measure in the model view of the same cube based on this variable, I cannot see any option for assigning a variable to a measure. Can someone please help me out in doing this?
I need the measure in the model view, because it looks like, when I create a relational view, only the measures that are defined in the model are added to the view and not the variables available in the object model.
    Thanks,
    Bharat

    Hi Bharat,
The mapping editor is used to map a measure to a relational data source. Therefore, unless you convert your data source used by your DML program to a relational table/view (if it is a text file you can use an external table to present the data to AWM as a relational table, or if it is an Excel spreadsheet and your database is on Windows you can use the heterogenous gateway service to load directly from Excel by exposing the Excel worksheet as a relational table) you will not be able to use the mapping editor.
To assign an OLAP variable to an measure within a cube you will need to create a custom calculated measure. This will allow you to create a measure that "maps" to your OLAP DML program. There is an Excel utility on the OLAP OTN home page that allows you to create custom calculated measures (at the moment this feature is not AWM10gR2 - but is available within AWM 11g). Click here for more information:
    http://download.oracle.com/otn/java/olap/SpreadsheetCalcs_10203.zip
My advice would be to try and convert your data source to a relational table/view and using the mapping editor. This will allow you to benefit from the many new features within OLAP cube storage such as compressed composites, data compression, paralled processing, partitioning and aggregation maps. Of course you can code all this manually but it is much easier to let AWM do all this for you via a few mouse clicks. Please note - that everything you build outside of the AWM model view has to be managed (defined, updated, backed up etc) by you rather AWM. So while there are lots of advantages of using OLAP DML, I personally always try to load data into my OLAP cubes using AWM mappings and save OLAP DML for providing the advanced types of analysis that make OLAP such an excellent calculation engine.
    Hope this helps

  • Kerberos Authentication between Sharepoint 2013 Foundation - SSRS 2012 - Oracle 11g failing with ORA-12638: Credential retrieval failed

I have set up SharePoint 2013 Foundation, SharePoint Reporting Services and SQL Server 2012 in a single server. I then created a Data Connection to Oracle 11g. Upon testing the connection, it throws the error “ORA-12638: Credential retrieval failed”.
Given below are the steps of installation and configuration.
    Installation till basic authentication:
The installation has been done in a
    single server.
Installed SQL Server 2012 (Developer version).
    Selected only the following features:
    Database Engine Services
    Analysis Services
    Reporting Services – SharePoint
Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint Products
    Management Tools – Basic
    - Management Tools - Complete
      2. Installed SQL Server 2012 SP1.
      3. Installed SQL Server 2012 SP2.
      4. Installed SharePoint Foundation 2013.
      5. Created web application (without Kerberos; we did not even create the SPNs).
The application pool has been configured to use Reporting Services account since it is a single server installation. This account has been registered as a managed
    account.
      6. Created Site Collection.
      7. Verified that Reporting Services is not installed.
      8. Installed SharePoint Reporting Services from SharePoint 2013 Management Shell.
      9. Verified that Reporting Services is installed.
     10. Created a new SQL Server Reporting Services Service Application and associated the Web Application to the new SQL server Reporting Services Service Application.
      11. Verified that SQL Server Reporting Services Service Application and its proxy have started. Reset IIS.
      12. Created a Site.
      13. Created a Data Connection library with “Report Data Source” content type.
      14. Created a Report Model library with “Report Builder Model” content type.
      15. Created a Report library with “Report Builder Report” content type.
      16. Uploaded an SMDL to the Report Model library.
      17. Added the top level site to Local Intranet instead of as a Trusted Site in the browser settings.
      18. Able to create and save a report using Report Builder.
Hence, basic authentication is working and SSRS is able to connect to Oracle database.
Next we have to configure Kerberos settings between SharePoint and SQL Server.
    Implementation of Kerberos authentication
In the Report Server machine, opened the file C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\WebServices\Reporting\rsreportserver.config  and added the Authentication Types of RSWindowsNegotiate
    and RSWindowsKerberos.
     2.  Set up the following SPNs.
                   a) SQL Server Database Engine service (sqlDbSrv2):
                    setspn -S MSSQLSvc/CER1110:1433 CERDEMO\sqlDbSrv2
                    setspn -S MSSQLSvc/CER1110.cer.demo.com:1433 CERDEMO\sqlDbSrv2
In the Delegation tab of the account, selected "Trust this user for delegation to any service (Kerberos only)".
    b) Account: SharePoint Setup Admin account (spAdmin2)
         setspn -S HTTP/CER1110:9999 CERDEMO\spAdmin2
                    setspn -S HTTP/CER1110.cer.demo.com:9999 CERDEMO\spAdmin2
In the Delegation tab of the account, selected "Trust this user for delegation to any  service
    (Kerberos only)".
    c) Account: SQL Server Reporting Service account (sqlRepSrv2)
                       setspn -S HTTP/CER1110 CERDEMO\sqlRepSrv2
                       setspn -S HTTP/CER1110.cer.demo.com CERDEMO\sqlRepSrv2
In the Delegation tab of the account, selected "Trust this user for delegation to any service
    (Kerberos only)".
      3. Configure the Web Application to use “Negotiate (Kerberos)”.
      4. Logged in as SharePoint Administrator to the SharePoint server and opened the top level site in the IE browser.
The Event Viewer logged the login process for the SharePoint Administration account as
    Negotiate and not Kerberos.
      5. Implemented Kerberos for Oracle database and client.
Able to connect to the Oracle database via Kerberos authentication using SQL Plus.
      6. Turn on Windows Firewall.
      7. While testing the site's data connection using Kerberos settings, got the error
“Can not convert claims identity to windows token. This may be due to user not logging in using windows credentials.”
Note: The Data Connection for basic authentication still worked.
      8. Created a Claims to Windows Token Service account (spC2WTS2).
      9. Started the Claims to Windows Token Service.
     10. Registered the Claims to Windows Token Service account as a Managed Account.
     11. Changed the Claims To Windows Token Service to use the above managed account.
     12. Verified that the Claims to Windows Token Service account (spC2WTS2) is automatically added to the WSS_WPG local group on the SharePoint box.
Note: The Reporting Services service account is also a part of the WSS_WPG local group.
     13. Added the Claims to Windows Token Service account (spC2WTS2) to the Local Admin Group on the machine having the SharePoint App Server.
     14. In the SharePoint box, added the Claims to Windows Token Service account (spC2WTS2) in the Act as part of the operating system policy right.
     15. The Claims to Windows Token Service account (spC2WTS2) has the WSS_WPG group configured.
When the C2WTS service was configured to use the managed account Claims to Windows Token Service account (spC2WTS2) earlier, the spC2WTS2 account was automatically
added to the WSS_WPG local group on the SharePoint box. The WSS_WPG group in turn is configured in c2wtshost.exe.config file.
     16. Verified that the Reporting Services account is a managed account and part of the WSS_WPG group.
     17. Earlier Service Application Pool - SQL Server Reporting Services App Pool service was associated with the SharePoint Admin account.
Changed this to associate the Reporting Service account with the Service Application Pool - SQL Server Reporting Services App Pool service.
     18. Changed the delegation of the Reporting Service account to constrained delegation with Protocol Transitioning. This is because we are transitioning from one authentication scheme (Claims) to another (Windows Token).
For this, the delegation has been changed to "Trust this user for delegation to specified services only". Also, selected the sub radio button "Use
any authentication protocol". Selected the Oracle Kerberos service as the service to which this account can present delegated credentials.
Note: The Reporting Service account already had an HTTP SPN.
     19. Next, the goal was to make the Claims To Windows Token Service account match the Reporting Service account.
For this, we created a fake SPN for the Claims To Windows Token Service account since the delegation tab was missing.
The delegation has been changed to "Trust this user for delegation to specified services only". Also, selected the sub radio button "Use any
authentication protocol". Selected the Oracle Kerberos service as the service to which this account can present delegated credentials.
     20. Restarted the SharePoint server.
     21. Tested the data connection with the Kerberos settings again.
           Got the error
    “ORA-12638: Credential retrieval failed”.
Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this setup?

    Problem4: ORA-12638: Credential retrieval failed
Solution:  Make sure that SQLNET.KERBEROS5_CC_NAME is set in sqlnet.ora and okinit has been run before attempting to connect to the database.
