Oracle 7.3 import to Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition
Due to data file block corruption we had to install Oracle 8i in NT. After successful installation we tried importing 7.3.4 data to 8i, after importing table data it seeems the import process got hung, the CPU usage shows 100% and the application seem running for 4 hours. The dump size is 205MB. I suspect whether anything really happening at the database. Views, sequences, procedures, functions have been insert into db , but the triggers not. The free space in the database has no change after this . Anybody faced similar issues please advice. Appreciate an early response on this.
I have experienced the same problem for the
import from 7 to 8.
The Server in which I made the Import
is a bi-Processor 2x800 and it takes 5 Hours
for an import o 4 Millions records in 166 Tables.
I don't know how to increase speed and if it is possible or not.
If one of us discovers some tips mail it each-other
ok ?
Bye

Installation of Oracle 8.1.17 on Redhat Linux Enterprise Edition 2.4
dear all
I have tried to Oracle 8.1.17 on Redhat Linux Enterprise Edition 2.4 but it gives an error "Error in invoking target make file .."
I tried using retries it failed each time to prorceed.
I checked for my binutils ( binutils-2.14.90.0.4-26 ) but mine are higher than binutils-2.11.90.0.8-13.i386.rpm required ..
do i need to down grade my binutils for 8.1.7
abhiHi Abhi!
If I remember correctly (817 is stone age) the binutils used a strange debug flag in the 2.11.90.0.8-13 (something with -z).
If this is not present in your newer version of the binutils the make will fail.
Try downgrading the binutils during the installation.

Oracle Application Server 10g Enterprise Edition
Hi,
I would like to integrate Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 with Oracle Portal.
Idid some research in metalink and found that Note: 376811.1.
What I understood from the doc is,
1. install Oracle Application Server 10g Enterprise Edition.
2. Integrate with EBiz 12.1.1.
Please let me know where can I get the link to download, Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.4) Enterprise Edition.
Is it required to install OID and SSO before oracle portal installation?
A step by step solution/documentation to integrate 12.1.1 with portal will highly be appreciated.

- download and install OAS 10.1.2.0.2
--> Go to this link: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/middleware/index.html
--> download Application Server 10gR2 (10.1.2.0.2) from the right side portlet of Previous Releases
- then upgrade its portal to 10.1.4:
--> go to metalink/MOS: search for 'oracle portal upgrade master note' and follow the note that matches best
Is it required to install OID and SSO before oracle portal installation?- Yes it is. It will be included in the OAS 10.1.2.0.2 installation

====================================================
PURPOSE
Introduction:
<Note:112591.1>
Enterprise
Standard Edition
업그레이드 하기 CATALOG.SQL과 CATPROC.SQL (또는 EE Version 소프트웨어의
Actions:
Export/Import 를 이용하는 것이다.
Enterprise

Problem Moving From the Standard Edition to the Enterprise Edition
Hi !
I am trying to move from Oracle 10g R2 10.2.0.1 Standard Edition to Oracle 10g R2 10.2.0.1 Enterprise Edition.
Platform is MS Windows XP PRO SP2
I follow all steps described in "Oracle® Database Upgrade Guide 10g Release 2 (10.2)" - section Moving From the Standard Edition to the Enterprise Edition.
http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14238/intro.htm#sthref10
The problem is that after update from St. edition to Ent. edition when I run:
select * from v$version - I see :
Connected to:
Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
while I expect to see something like .....
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production With the Partitioning, OLAP and Data Mining Scoring Engine options
Am I wrong ? Why information in view v$version does not update after this ?
Regards,
Phil

user585467In your document you refer to the upgrade guide, this upgrade guide applies when you are upgrading from previous Oracle releases to 10g, not SE->EE.
If you want a procedure to upgrade the SE to EE, then follow this metalink note:
"How to Upgrade from Standard to Enterprise Edition ?
Doc ID: Note:117048.1"
If you performed this specific upgrade and you still see this error, then probably you are facing a bug, similar to the one described in "5844095", where the version is changed form SE->EE after 10.2.0.3 patchset application.
In your case it should be enough to apply 10.2.0.3 patchset to show it properly.

Importing an oracle 8i database from Enterprise Version intot Oracle Lite
How do i get to import an Oracle 8i Enterprise Server database into an Oracle 8i lite server.
nullI have never done this..but it ought to be simple....
If you are only cocvern about the logical schema and the data in it..then I would simply export the database using export utility.
let say if user snawaz who owns the schema on you enterprise server ..then just make sure you have a user snawaz on the lite oracle..
also make sure user snawaz on both have enough priviledges to the database..
then simply do an export:
example:
from enterprise database:
exp snawaz/snawaz@sidname owner=snawaz
this will export all the schema owned by snawaz, then take the export file to oracle lite...
then do import
imp snawaz/snawaz@sidname
when it prompts for entire dmp file just say no and only import user and specify the user snawaz...
it should work fine..
If you need more comprehensive doc.let me kow

Impdp import errors Oracle 11.1.0.6
Hello to everyone.
I need help. I've searched help sites/forums for the past few days and have not found a solution.
I am new to using impdp and cannot get it to work. My prior experience was the old "imp" utility. We recently upgraded to 11.1.0.6 database and trying to import an export file created from 11.1.0.7 using the export parameter VERSION=11.1.0.6. The DBA sending me the export file has sent it to me as both a DBA and non-DBA export. Both get the same errors. Both databases are on Sun Solaris platforms. I had already created a directory and granted TIMS read/write.

I checked the description of the source tables against the target tables and they are identical.
All of my tablespaces have have sufficient freespace, especially the TIMS default tablespace.
I've tried this with several different parameter files for different tables and all get the same errors.
Any help wouldbe appreciated.

Regards,
MaulanaAfter going through your post what i found is you need to import the dump file using the system user. The user you are using has not got the permission that are required. So if you want to try you can import your dump using system user.
please test it on some test server before doing it actually. -
Can I install Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition on Windows 2000 Professional
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I have Windows 2000 professional edition loaded on my PC and I'm not sure what it allows. Can I load Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition of the database on this operating system, or do I need to load windows 2000 server software.
Thanks
RyanIts a problem with oracle and pentium 4 processors actually. The solution involves renaming or deleting the symcjit.dll in the 8i installation package after you've copied the whole Cd onto your HDD!
I've tried this and it install OK, with a few errors along the way, now I can't get the apache server working, nor on the 9i AS that I've installed as well. Let me know if you get anything useful please?

Unable to import oracle 9.2 data to oracle 10.2
Dear all,
part of the upgrade project i am facing this problem.
I have taken DBEXPORT from 4.6C(EXT kernel),oracle 9.2.7 and the same i want to import it on 4.6C,oracle10.2.2.(already 4.6C on oracle 10.2.2 is there on another system)
when i try to import through DBRELOAD it's showing list of supported database versions as Oracle 8.1.7 and oracle 9.2 only. it's not showing oracle 10.2 (both in DBRELOAD as well DBMIG).
I want to import the oracle 9.2 databse into existing 10.2 datbase.
how to proceed on this.. kindly help me on this
Thanks & regards
SubbuHi Markus,
I have raised the same question, that if I want to do the import with the same version of oracle, how can I carry the procedure. I have exported the database, through GUI-- Newinst--> Export Database...( 4th option of the main installation)
Export is done. Created some 9 folder adn 1 LABEL.ASC file..
Now as suggested by you in my thread of " Export/import" I am trying to import with the option u suggested( standard install..and then 2 option of System Copy/Migration". But after following all that, when the installation is asking for " Migration CD. LABEL.ASC, I have given what was exported. But gives the error.SAying DBSIZE.XML could find in ORA folder. When checked the export folders, there is only 1 DBSIZE.XML folder, that to ADA folder....
Please suggest??
Regards
Prash
