Oracle 8..How to call stored Procedure to call stored Function

Student here. Using Oracle 8, without Procedure Builder. Only have SQLPlus environment. Three simple code blocks follow:
block One Creates a Function
block Two Creates a Procedure
...However, I do not know how to Start, Run, Get..@ <or whatever command at SQL> prompt, to run the Procedure to call the Function.
block Three is a script that calls the function, but I wish to call the stored procedure (from block Two above). My user manual PL/SQL Intro does not address.
Please provide simple SQL Plus steps, command, path whatever.
Very grateful to any or all who assist
Wayne

Follow this steps to run the procedure.
1. save the procedure in a folder in your hard disk as NEW_SALARY2.SQL.
2. go to SQL*PLUS and then goto FILE->OPEN
3. Then goto your folder where you have saved your procedure and then click once(only once) on the procedure name and then click cancel.
4. Then type SQL>@NEW_SALARY2.SQL;
it will execute your procedure.
important: if you don't want to do that then
type:
SQL>exec c:\myfolder\NEW_SALARY2.sql
it will execute your procedure.
The same applies for your script.
I hope this will help. If u still need help

  • Using Oracle Stored Procedure to call a webservice

    Hi,
    I am using this version of Oracle:
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    CORE     11.2.0.1.0     Production
    TNS for Linux: Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    Requirement: I have to write a stored procedure that calls a webservice and get the result from webservice and show it on sqlplus.
    I have read some articles, and am confused as to where to start. I have come across UTL_DBWS and UTL_HTTP. But to use them, I have to set up my database accordingly allocating pool size etc.
    Is there an alternative?
    I am reading through a lot of stuff, but I am honestly not getting a hold of anything. Please advice, how I can go step by step.
    Thank you!!

    Thank you!!don't use Oracle to complete any non-DB related task.
    while a shovel is a great tool for producing a hole in the ground,
    it is sub-optimal when the wrong end of the shovel is used to move the dirt.
    You are using the "wrong end" of Oracle.

  • Oracle stored procedure to Java stored procedure

    Hello,
    I got a school assignement "Create a java stored procedure and call it out from JAVA program outside database".
    I've done it, but in case of JAVA stored procedure I have the procedure written in PL/SQL.
    PL/SQL procedure:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE getDogInfo
    (Dog_ID IN NUMBER, Dog_name OUT VARCHAR) AS
    BEGIN
      SELECT Name INTO Dog_name
      FROM Dog_family
      WHERE ID = Dog_ID;
    END;
    How do I convert it to JAVA stored procedure?
    Maybe it's just plain stupid and I should keep it as PL/SQL? I don't know if I have done it right.
    Also I don't know what to do with IN/OUT parameters in JAVA.

    Could my procedure java class look something like this? I am aware that I have to make a PL/SQL function that is associated with JAVA method CALL, just asking about JAVA Class at the moment.
    import java.sql.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class Procedure {
      public static void getDogInfo (int Dog_ID, String Dog_name)
        throws SQLException
        { String sql =
          "SELECT Dog_name INTO Name FROM Dog_family WHERE ID = Dog_ID";
        try { Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:default:connection:");
          PreparedStatement apstmt = conn.prepareStatement(sql);
          apstmt.setInt(1, Dog_ID);
          apstmt.registerOutParameter(2, java.sql.Types.VARCHAR);
          ResultSet rset = apstmt.executeQuery();
          rset.close();
          apstmt.close(); //Connection close
        catch (SQLException e) {System.err.println(e.getMessage());
    My java program looks like this:
    package client;
    import java.sql.*;
    public class JDBCPiemers {
        static final String JDBC_DRIVER = "oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver";
        static final String DB_URL = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:ORCL";

  • Can a Stored Procedure be called from a Rule (not using Scripted JDBC Adap)

    Hello smart people,
    Question: Can a stored procedure be called from a Rule without using the Scripted JDBC Resource Adapter?
    What's Desired: The project has very strong sql developers and average at best Java developers. We have been successful at implementing the scripted JDBC Resource Adapter which makes use of Java Bean shells. The custom Java Bean shell contains code that calls a stored procedure. We are cool with that process.
    However we would like to be able to set up a Rule that calls a Stored Procedure without jumping thru the Java Bean Shell layer. The Stored Procedures we will be developing will not access the tables in the Waveset database. Instead the Stored Procedures will be accessing custom tables in a custom database. The custom DBase will be housed on the same dBase server as the Waveset database.
    Environment: Identity Manager 7.1. Oracle 10i, and Unix OS.
    It seems to me that this task is possible, but the posts in this forum make it sound like perhaps it is not.
    Do any of you smart people agree that it should be possible or better yet has anyone implemented such an approach?
    Thanks.

    We did this by putting all of the JDBC calls into a Java class, then instantiated that class and called the methods from within a rule. An example of a rule we used is this:
    <Rule authType='UserMembersRule' name='List UserType'>
      <block>
        <defvar name='adapter'>
          <new class='com.waveset.adapter.ScriptedJdbcResourceAdapter'/>
        </defvar>
        <invoke name='setResource'>
          <ref>adapter</ref>
          <invoke name='getObject' class='com.waveset.ui.FormUtil'>
            <ref>context</ref>
            <s>Resource</s>
            <s>Banner</s>
          </invoke>
        </invoke>
        <defvar name='jdbcHelper'>
          <new class='edu.bates.JDBCHelper'>
            <invoke name='getConnection'>
              <ref>adapter</ref>
            </invoke>
          </new>
        </defvar>
        <defvar name='userList'>
          <new class='java.util.ArrayList'/>
        </defvar>
        <invoke name='addQueryToList'>
          <ref>jdbcHelper</ref>
          <s>SQL QUERY HERE</s>
          <ref>userList</ref>
        </invoke>
        <ref>userList</ref>
      </block>
      <MemberObjectGroups>
        <ObjectRef type='ObjectGroup' id='#ID#Top' name='Top'/>
      </MemberObjectGroups>

  • Creating a SQL Stored procedure to call a CF function

    I need to create a method to migrate data from a DMZ inside a firewall.  To do this I was thinking of making a call from the DMZ web server (using CF) to an internal SQL server database stored procedure.  The stored procedure would then call a CF template on the internal web server to pull data inside the firewall.  Not my first choice on implementation but as a consultant I don’t make the rules I create the code to enforce them... Anyway these are the steps I need to follow.
    1.)    Call the stored procedure and pass an int value with the call.
    2.)    The Stored procedure calls a URL and passes the INT with it. I.E.  http://Mylocalhost/Xferdata/MyXferTemplate.cfm?MyIntValue=”PASSED IN INT VALUE”
    3.)    The MyXferTemplate does the actual data migration for me.
    My question is how do I create a simple stored procedure to do this on SQL Server 2008???  After looking at the CF documentation I don’t think there will be much of a problem making the call to the stored procedure… its just writing the stored procedure…  Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!

  • Calling Stored Procedure with in Stored Procedure

    I have one stored procedure A, I want to call Stored procedure A from Stored Procedure B and want to give input parameter to Stored Procedure A within Stored Procedure B using while loop.
    i.e I have one stored procedure A which uses Telephone number as input parameter and pull out data
    I want to create one more stored procedure B which will call stored procedure A internally and give telephone number one by one using while loop and push the result in Table C.

    Doesn't sound a good idea in terms of performance or design. OK, what's your query?
    The concept is:
    create or replace procedure Proc_A (p_phone varchar2)
    is
    Begin
       Insert into Tablec (col1, col2, col3, phone) values (val1, val2, val3, p_phone);
    Exception
      When no_data_found then
       do what...
    End;
    Create or Replace Procedure Proc_B as
    Begin
    For i in (select phone_no from customer)
    Loop
      Proc_A(i.phone_no);
    End Loop;
    End;
    /Once again, I have to say, it's a bad idea. You may well do it within a single procedure or even a single SQL. Tell us your exact requirements and we'll be able to help you

  • JDBC/select/async statement to JDBC/stored procedure/sync call

    Hi
    We have JDBC/select/async statement to JDBC/stored procedure/sync call i.e sender and receiver are JDBC.
    PI has to pick all the the records of single internal order number at a time from sender system and upload to receiver JDBc,
    gets the response and routes to sender/insert statement.
    This should run only once per day.
    We will have multiple Internal orders daily, each order consisting of 10 to 20 records but only one IO related records has
    to upload to Receiver/JDBC
    What are the options available ?
    We have thought of following options
    1. SQL query is already to pick, but we have to pick records at one time daily. example: morning,evening or midnight.
       At that time it can pick multiple times but it should not pick through out day
    2. Is there any option in BPM so that we can group IO's at a time and upload ? If so what are the steps need to use
       Any additonal receive step need to be used to pick the records from the table.
    Thanks

    hi
    as i can understando you, you will receive mani IO and you must execute one IO in the receiver SP? if so, you can solve this usssing a ccBPM where you will have to create a mapping(0.N) where the source and the target structure will be the same, the diferrence will be in the occurrance of the target structure which will have to be 0.N (Tab signature in Message Mapping). then back to the ccBPM define a block with the property ForEach. this will  loop any times accord with the number of IO that you receive from the sender. as a result you will execute one SP for each IO.
    so, you ccBPM will be
    RS>TS>BLOCK(Multiline container and single container of source structure)>TS->SS
    RS:Receive Step
    TS:Trans. Step
    SS:Send Step
    Also the container will be:
    source--> type Abs
    source_multiline --> type Abs
    target -->type Abs
    Thanks

  • Use Stored Procedure to call up DI API

    HI all,
    I will like to know whether i can use stored procedure to create DI API when i triggers on new document on particular customer?
    Example:
    Database A create AR Invoice then i triggers on it directly use stored procedure to call up DI API to create AP Invoice on Database B without create any necessary add-on on the same server.
    Thank you.
    Cheers,
    danny

    Hi Danny,
    Sorry to inform you that it is impossible to call DI in stored procedure.
    An AddOn handling FormDataEvent,  DI Event service and B1iSN would be the right approches to your requirement.
    1.DI Event Service and B1iSN are solutions in server side. You can find DI EventService here:
    SAP Business One Tools [original link is broken]
    =>DI Event Service=>View this article
    Then you can find a sample project in its installation folder.
    2.AddOn soultion will be in the client of source company, just one addon is fine.
    sample code:
    Private Sub FormDataEventHandler( _
        ByRef BusinessObjectInfo As SAPbouiCOM.BusinessObjectInfo, _
        ByRef BubbleEvent As Boolean) Handles oApp.FormDataEvent
            'You may add the target documents, 133 - A/R invoice.
            'Before action = true, start the transation
            If BusinessObjectInfo.FormTypeEx = "133" _
                    And BusinessObjectInfo.EventType = SAPbouiCOM.BoEventTypes.et_FORM_DATA_ADD _
                    And BusinessObjectInfo.BeforeAction = True Then

            'Succeed, commit, otherwise rollback
            If BusinessObjectInfo.FormTypeEx = "133" _
            And (BusinessObjectInfo.EventType = SAPbouiCOM.BoEventTypes.et_FORM_DATA_ADD) Then

                    oInvoice = oCompany.GetBusinessObject(SAPbobsCOM.BoObjectTypes.oInvoices)
                    If oInvoice.GetByKey(CInt(objectKey)) Then
                        Dim paymentInvoices As SAPbobsCOM.Payments_Invoices = oInvoice.Invoices
                        Dim oInvoices As SAPbobsCOM.Documents = oCompany.GetBusinessObject(SAPbobsCOM.BoObjectTypes.oInvoices)

  • How to pass parameter from 1 stored procedure to another stored procedure inside crystal report

    Hi
    I have several stored procedure in my Crystal Report. I am wondering if it is possible for me to pass a parameter to one of the stored procedure and to use the result of that stored procedure E.g. CustomerCode. To another 2 stored procedure to generate the report dynamically?
    I have 3 stored procedure
    The 1st one is used to gather information and process the calculation
    another 2 stored procedure is used for generate the graph and both of them required to take 2 parameters. The 1st stored procedure will require 1 parameter (E.G. Reference Code) and will return a set of information including the data that could be use on the other 2 stored procedures.
    After I added these 2 stored procedure, it requires me to pass 3 parameters to the report. I would like to know if I could only pass the Reference Code for stored procedure 1 and use it to retrieve the information for the other 2 parameter?
    Thanks in advance
    Chi

    Hi Chi
    To pass parameter from 1 stored procedure to another stored procedure, you will have to create sub report. In your case you will have to create 2 sub reports for 2nd and 3rd stored procedure and link those sub reports with the main report using Reference Code field in order to pass the values.
    After creating the report when you will refresh the report, it will ask 4 parameters, one parameter for main report, one for the first subreport and two for second subreport to fetch the data correctly.
    Regards
    Poonam Thorat.

  • Exec stored procedure from another stored procedure - not working

    Hey, we've got a bunch of .sql files that we run, and some of them are stored procedures. Our programs call the stored procedures from within the .sql files and that works, but we've tried calling a stored procedure from another stored procedure and it won't compile. The syntax looks the same, and we can run that second stored procedure from the SQL*Plus command prompt just fine, so we know it's in there. It doesn't matter whether we type exec or execute in the first stored procedure--it still gives us a compilation error. Here's the relevant bit of the code:
            delete CMHISTORYINDEX;
            commit;
            exec SP_DAILY_TOTAL;
    END SP_DAILY_CLOSING;
    /Here's where we go into SQL*Plus and try to compile it:
    Connected to:
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.3.0 - Production
    With the Partitioning, Real Application Clusters, OLAP and Data Mining options
    SQL> @sp_daily_closing.sql
    Warning: Procedure created with compilation errors.
    SQL> show errors
    Errors for PROCEDURE SP_DAILY_CLOSING:
    LINE/COL ERROR
    34/7     PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "SP_DAILY_TOTAL" when expecting
             one of the following:
             := . ( @ % ;
             The symbol ":=" was substituted for "SP_DAILY_TOTAL" to continue.
    SQL>We've also tried changing SP_DAILY_CLOSING to lowercase, but it doesn't seem to help. As I mentioned before, we can type that same sort of thing in .sql files that are not stored procedures and the exec is compiled fine and runs correctly. What are we doing wrong?

    In the stored procedure remove "exec" :
            delete CMHISTORYINDEX;
            commit;
            SP_DAILY_TOTAL;
    END SP_DAILY_CLOSING;

    Also when testing the procedure, no values are displayed. In fact no output fields are displayed at all in the test panel.
    (I know about the difference between bi_jdbc and jdbc systems - this issue is not related to this - although maybe the driver (ojdbc14.jar / oracle thin) could be the sinner????)
    Helpful hints will be promtly rewarded.

    Unfortunately no honors to me this time, Govindu. I quick customer message to SAP solved this. The bigger issue was to actually upgrade from SPS 9 to 14.
    Even bigger is the ability to now produce database driven applications using program units in my Oracle database. Visual Composer rules!

  • Java- Stored Procedure with Call by Result

    Hi Oracle-Community,
    I am looking for some example Code how to use a Java-Stored Procedure with Out-Parameters. Don't get me wrong. I dont want to call a Procedure with Out Parameters from Java (there are a lot of examples for this out there) . I just want to implement the Call by Result concept in a Java-Stored Procedure. A Client will call this Procedure with some parameters and the Java Procedure will fill them. So my first question: is this possible? And my second Question: How to implement it?
    Greetings.

    I found out a solution. It is very simple.
    Just defining the parameters as java array (e.g. String[] P1). The first value (P1[0]) is the returned value.
    At last just set in JDeveloper in the "Edit Method Signature" Dialog the parametermode to OUT.
    The dialog can be found by rightclicking on the stored procedure in the dbexport file. You can read this
    in Section 6 Publishing Java Classes With Call Specifications -> Setting Parameter Modes in
    Oracle Database Java Developer's Guide.

      3    dbms_output.put_line('I am P1');
      4  end;
      5  /
    Procedure created.

  • Stored procedure capture call error-

    Hi
    When a sync JDBC receiver ( Stored procedure call ) fails can the error message be captured and sent back to the source system ? if so how?
    regards,
    Arvind R

    Arvind,
    If it's Synch scenario and If I'm not wrong what ever messages (Success/Error) you are seeing in SXMB_MONI will be sent to the source system correct?
    Thanks!
