Pl see the steps in the Upgrade Guide - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e23633/expimp.htm#i262247
Full import will attempt to create all tablespaces/datafiles with the same directories/paths as on the source - if this is not feasible, you will need to pre-create tablespaces/datafiles before performing the full import.

Edited by: farnaw4u on Feb 26, 2010 10:17 AMHello,
You may experience a bug or a corruption in the "dump". If it's a corruption you may retry your export/import.
But, anyway, the classical Export/Import is not recommended. Starting with 10.1 you should use Datapump
(expdp/impdp).
Please, find enclosed a link about this utility:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/part_dp.htm#i436481
Hope this help.

Hi,
We are having trouble while importing one ledger 'GERMANY EUR GGAAP'. It works for Dec 2014 but while trying to import data for 2015 it gives an error.
Import error shows " RuntimeError: No periods were identified for loading data into table 'AIF_EBS_GL_BALANCES_STG'."
I tried all Knowledge docs from Oracle support but no luck. Please help us resolving this issue as its occurring in our Production system.
I also checked all period settings under Data Management> Setup> Integration Setup > Global Mapping and Source Mapping and they all look correct.
Also its only happening to one ledger rest all ledgers are working fine without any issues.
ThanksHi,
there are some Support documents related to this issue.
I would suggest you have a look to them.

"Template import error: No VM configure file found" on brand new setup
Previously, I posted Console does not launch OVM 3.1.1, Win7x32 Firefox15/IE8 - Empty .jnlp file which was about VM Console not launching. Since this is a new installation, and it seemed to be a unique problem, I scratched the whole installation and started again from scratch. Everything, including the NFS file server, was re-installed from scratch CD OS installation.
The process is pretty straightforward once you're used to it, and in less than three hours I was ready again to import my first template (a template I had imported before). But now, I submit the the request, and almost immediately the process aborts. (You can see in the information below, that 1 second passes between the Import request (06:32:36) and the failure.)
Thing is, it takes about three minutes, even locally on the web server, to get an index of that large file (tar tzf), and at completion, the vm config file is listed.
Am I misreading the error? My web searches for enlightenment found only one good hit on this error, and in that case it appeared to be an "out of space" issue. In this case, though, I'm importing a 5GB tarfile into a 390GB, otherwise-empty file system, so I don't think that is the issue. The failure in ovs-agent.log is below. What other information may I provide to get to the bottom of this? (Thanks for any guidance/help, of course!)

I'd say the template is corrupt or you only have a partial template.
I did notice the call to the template is based on the short name of the host. Can you confirm the VM manager can access the http path via short name? -

Import error as error number is -12018
Hi All,
While importing a project getting an error as:
Import Error: com.fatwire.cs.core.realtime.DataException: com.fatwire.assetapi.common.AssetAccessException: Error met whiling saving assets [AttrTypes:1415189814137] and the error number is -12018
https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29542_01/apirefs.1111/e39371/MISC/errno.html shows error related to Missing publication. No clue..-12018 means " Missing publication."
Since the DemoSite is a new site that doesn't exist in the CSDT target environment, I would import the site first, e.g.
java com.fatwire.csdt.client.main.CSDT http://hostOrIP:8080/cs/ContentServer username=fwadmin password=xceladmin resources=@SITE:DemoSite cmd=import
NOTE: Make sure the site was exported to your datastore before import.
Then, import assets of this site:
java com.fatwire.csdt.client.main.CSDT http://hostOrIP:8080/cs/ContentServer username=fwadmin password=xceladmin resources=@ALL_ASSETS:*;@ALL_NONASSETS:* fromSites=DemoSite cmd=import
Note that the parameter is fromSites, not fromSite.
See if this helps.

here's the situation,
- export client used WE8MSWIN1252 charset (release v10.02.01)
- import server used WE8ISO8859P1 charset (release v10.1.0.4)
all tables appeared to be imported without error, except that import terminated unsuccesfully due to oracle error 2248
"ALTER SESSION SET PLSQL_OPTIMIZE_LEVEL =1 NLS-LENGTH_SEMANTICS = 'BYTE' PLSQL_CODE_TYPE = 'INTERPRETED' PLSQL_DEBUG = FALSE PLSQL_WARNING = 'DISABLE:ALL' PLSQL_CCFLAGS =''"
ORA-02248: invalid option for ALTER SESSION
was error due to the difference release version? char set conversion to non superset?
appreciate any help plsIt is difficult to say what is the current state of the database, so it is recommended to reexport and reimport the object definitions. You may miss some other stuff like object types, contraints, etc. Table data should be OK, so reexport should not include data.
As far as character sets are concerned, because of the difference between the export client character set and the import server character set, you may have lost some characters in the code range 0x80-0x9f. This includes Euro sign, TM, sign, "smart" quotes, en- and em-dash, etc. Use the Windows charmap.exe to see all the codes. If you have some of these codes in the source database, you have lost them on import (they got converted to the reverse quotation mark code 0xbf).

Payroll Journal Import Error EF04
Hi,
we are working in oracle applications 11i (11.5.0) TEST Instance.
As monthly operations the payroll personnel upload the salaries journal to Gl Interface with oracle web adi. We have oracle hrms full install.
We are trying to setup and use the direct payroll gl interface. The following steps are done so far:
1. Cost Allocation Flexfield is setup and points to the same value sets as in the Accounting Key Flexfield.
2. KFF qualifiers NOW are all enabled for all segments.
3. 5 Costing accounts for 5 elements are entered directly to an employee at employee assignment element entry level.
4. GL map to costing segments is done and although the employee is paid in foreign currency, his payroll is assigned to the functional set of book.
5. costing is run
6. cost break down report for costing run and only 2 lines are there! this is my first issue
7. transfer to GL is requested .
8. On the attempt to import the journals from payroll the request completes with warning And the two line have error code EF04
The GL super user have checked the 5 accounts and they are valid and their combinations exist in the system.
What do we need to check?
Thanks ...Please review these docs and see if it helps.

Hello,
Ok ill explain the problem first. I Exported whole DB from Oracle 8i, and now i have a file export.dmp. I want to import it to Oracle 8i Lite, but for now so success. I have a DB called test, defined in ODBC and created in Oracle Navigator. I can access that DB from Oracle Navigator, and i can access it trough SQL. I am trying to import that file to test DB with command like "imp80 system/manager@odbc:test file=export.dbp. Everytime i try to import i get same error saying : Table not found, View not found, ORACLE error, and Operating system error.
Can anyone give me some tips on how to import?
Thanks in advancedJohn (guest) wrote:

Hello,
'imp80' is the import utility for Oracle 8.0.x database. If you
are using 8i Lite (Lite v4.0.x), there is a utility 'olload.exe'
in your %ORACLE_HOME%\bin, which allows to load a flat ASCII file
into a Lite table and unload (!!) a table into a flat ASCII file.
Check the online doc <<Oracle8i Lite Oracle Lite User's Guide>>
to find out other usefull utilities.

Importing error: related to function-based indexes?
I've come across a strange error. I've got a user that has an export dump file who wants me to import the data into a new database. (Its an Oracle 10G database.)
When I use the 'imp' command, the table import completes successfully, but I end up receiving the following warnings:
IMP-00003: oracle error 942 encountered
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
IMP-00017: following statement failed with ORACLE error 942
"CREATE INDEX "X" on "Y" (TO_CHAR("Z",'yyyymmdd')) P"
"CTFREE 10 INITRANS 2 MAXTRANS 255 STORAGE(INITIAL 3145728 FREELISTS 1 FREEL"
"IST GROUPS 1 BUFFER_POOL DEFAULT) TABLESPACE "TBSPC" LOGGING"
The table itself seems to have been imported correctly; and all data rows exist. Its just the index that isn't being imported/rebuilt. (Other indexes on the same table were imported properly.)
The only thing that I could find that seems odd is that this index uses functions (the "TO_CHAR" in the index above). All of the other indexes on the table refer to basic fields. And I can rebuild the index manually.
Is the 'imp' command able to handle function-based indexes? Is there some parameter than I need to set to allow it to import these indexes?
(I know the more efficient thing to do would be to do an import with no indexes and rebuild them later...)
Edited by: user588235 on Dec 9, 2009 5:16 PMFunction based indexes should be supported. If it is exported, then it should be able to be imported. This just seems like a weird case. Have you tried to create a different table and then create a function based index on that table then see if exp/imp work?Yes, I have tried creating new versions of the tables (both with and without function-based indexes).
During my tests, I found that I can recreate the problem if I create the table in Oracle 9 and import it into Oracle 10; the problem doesn't occur when importing/exporting between Oracle9->Oracle9 or Oracle10->Oracle10. (However, the user told me that this was an export from Oracle 10.)
One other thing: I've noticed that if, instead of importing into a user account, I import into the system account, it works with no problems. For example:
imp userid='sys/xyz as sysdba' file=mydata.dmp fromuser=use1 touser=use2 ->Results in warnings while reading indexes
imp userid='sys/xyz as sysdba' file=mydata.dmp fromuser=use1 touser=sys ->works with no warning
This makes me suspect that its a problem with the permissions that have been granted. (I've granted 'create any index' and 'query rewrite' to the user account however.)
Not to change the issue, but since this is 10g, have you tried using datapump to expdp/impdp the same information?Might be an option; problem is, I'm dealing with a legacy system that was set up to use 'imp/exp', so altering backup and restore methods will require a lot of work. -
