Oracle 8i Error ORA-01996 when adding user
When trying to add a user in Oracle 8i I get the following message...
"ORA-01996: GRANT failed: password file 'C:\oracle\ora81\DATABASE\PWDacuisp.ora is full"
Does anyone know if there is parameter setting that needs to be adjusted? The file size of PWDacuisp.ora is 2kb... I am confused!
Thanks for your help!
Derek
Hi,
You'll have to use the orapwd utility to do so. Check the doc(click) for full reference.

Yoann.

ERROR: ORACLE prepare error: ORA-00936: missing expression
Hello,
I am required to run "pass-through" Oracle SQL, to extract data from tables into SAS for processing and manipulation. My code (attached) reads and writes (executes) but with zero records to test first. I cannot get past the Prepare Error.
The query is very much like other queries that seem to work, but I cannot get past this prepare error. I have no other access to individauls with adequate knowledge of PL SQL, and as a last stop hoped others in the forum could quickly spot the source of errror.
Thanks very much in advance for any assistance.
Jeff

184Hello Again ,
Wish Oracle was a bit more informative. Am using a SAS Institute Product called Enterprise Guide. A "hot fix" was installed to address an issue that the product appears unable to save the latest version of edited code changes (hence " BETWEEN between" remaining even after a prior edit). In any case, with the change, am now receiving this error:
" ERROR: ORACLE prepare error: ORA-00904: "PHRMCY_CLM_FACT"."LAST_SRVC_DT": invalid identifier". (Log file appears below)
-The error remains, regardless of whether one uses "pass through" code to pass the date range to Oracle (which looks ok from the log output below I believe), or if I hard code the date range into the PL SQL query itself.
-The Prepare error always appears at end of the inner SELECT.
-The Prepare error remains, with or without the GROUP BY clause.
Is there anything else here I am missing? Someone suggested a reserve word - but from other ANSI SQL versions, I do not see that is the case. I have consulted SAS Tech Support and SAS List Serve at University of GA. but nothing definitive from these sources. Have requested facility to be able to run Oracle directly, outside this SAS Institute product - in process.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone very much.
Jeff

Runtime error ora-12703 when running utl_mail
hello,
I call a procedure through push button to use UTL_MAIL.send(..) and I got error ora-12703.
There is no error during compilation.
For your info, I manage to execute the same code on stored procedure using TOAD and I received the email sent using TOAD and telnet from my local.
For info:
Forms developer version:

Just as the title infers, I have a user who is experiencing an unexpected error when he clicks on "EDIT" after clicking on the ellipsis. Document in the Document library is an MS Word file.
Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that an unexpected error has occurred when a user clicks on ellipsis then "EDIT".
Please make sure he has the edit permission.
Please make sure the Office 2013 is installed correctly on his computer.
In addition, I recommend to use another brower to check whether it works.
If so and the error message persists, please check the SharePoint ULS log to find more information about this error, the ULS
log file is in the location: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS
You can check the ULS log by the methods here:

Suddenly getting 404 error when adding user to group
Hi,
I have an OAM 10.1.4.0.1 instance that's been working fine.
However, today, I noticed that when I tried to add a user to a group, when I am in the selector page and click a user, I then get an HTTP 404 error.
I've searched all of the log files that I can find, and I can't see any error messages. The only thing that is showing an error in a log is the IIS that I have setup with WebGate for OAM Admin. I get a "404" error with a sc-win32-status or "3".
I have restarted everything, and that still hasn't helped.
Does anyone here know what might be causing this, or how to diagnose the problem?
Thanks,
JimHi,
I'm answering my own question/problem here, but hopefully this info will help someone else.
I was able to get adding users to groups working again. I found that after I cleared the cache in my browser (IE6), the "add user to groups" started working again, without the HTTP 404 error.
In hindsight, I guess this kind of makes sense, because if you ever watch the URIs on the selector pages, they all look alike, so I'm guessing the IE would not send a full GET request, but the "content" was no longer valid on the OAM server, thus the 404 error.

Check weather entries are there in the registry.
Go to the services in the control panel and see if the oracle service has started if not start it. If this is up then the registry is OK. if If not u can create it using the oradim utility.
Then set your oracle_sid = <dbname> in the dos prompt and try connecting again.

Oracle error ORA-00600 when using Oracle 10g and Sun One Web Server 6.1
I have a java application that was running under Solaris 8 and Oracle 9i. I am trying to get it up and running on a new server that is configured with Solaris 9 and Oracle 10g. Whenever the application tries to connect to the database it receives the following error: ORA-00600 [ttcgcshnd-1][0]. My research indicates that this is an internal Oracle error that represents a low level unexpected condition. I have looked through my configuration for the Web Server and I have not been able to determine the cause of this problem. My DBA tells me that we have the latest patch installed for Oracle! Has anyone encountered this problem before? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
If the problem is also present in a SWING app, i.e. outside the web server, then it is porbably something external to the webserver.
I think you should ensure that the driver and database are compatible with each other. It is very likely that you need a new jdbc driver for the new database.

I see the error: ORA-12170 when I make Net Manager on Oracle DTB Client
Dear all,
I installed Oracle Database 10 g on Server, then I installed Oracle Database Client 10 g on another PC. I tested the connection database from client PC by making Net Manager on Oracle Database Client. And I see the error ORA - 12170.
Can you help me?
I want to connect database on Server to practice add Portlet by SQL/PLUS.
Thanks.Oracle says...
ORA-12170: TNS:Connect timeout occurred
Cause: The server shut down because connection establishment or communication with a client failed to complete within the allotted time interval. This may be a result of network or system delays; or this may indicate that a malicious client is trying to cause a Denial of Service attack on the server.
Action: If the error occurred because of a slow network or system, reconfigure one or all of the parameters SQLNET.INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT, SQLNET.SEND_TIMEOUT, SQLNET.RECV_TIMEOUT in sqlnet.ora to larger values. If a malicious client is suspected, use the address in sqlnet.log to identify the source and restrict access. Note that logged addresses may not be reliable as they can be forged (e.g. in TCP/IP).
Also check the following...
1) Listener status on the server.
2) Check listener.log file present in X:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\NETWORK\log folder to grab any error.
3) Check the result of tnsping from the client.
4) try to login by sqlplus username/password@tnsname and see what happens. -

*Cause: An error occurred while processing a recursive SQL statement
(a statement applying to internal dictionary tables).
*Action: If the situation described in the next error on the stack
can be corrected, do so; otherwise contact Oracle Support. However, I have removed all the tables and indexes in this tablespace.
Nothing found when I issued the following enquiries.
select index_name from user_indexes where TABLESPACE_NAME = 'USERS';
select table_name from user_tables where TABLESPACE_NAME = 'USERS';Is there anything I missed?

As for your question

Learning how to look things up in the documentation is time well spent investing in your career. To that end, you should drop everything else you are doing and do the following:
Go to [url tahiti.oracle.com]tahiti.oracle.com.
Locate the link for your Oracle product and version, and click on it.
You are now at the entire documentation set for your selected Oracle product and version.
<b><i><u>BOOKMARK THAT LOCATION</u></i></b>
Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what is available here. Take special note of the "books" and "search" tabs. Under the "books" tab (for 10.x) or the "Master Book List" link (for 11.x) you will find the complete documentation library.
Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what <b><i><u>kind</u></i></b> of documentation is available there by simply browsing the titles under the "Books" tab.
Open the Reference Manual and spend a few minutes looking through the table of contents to get familiar with what <b><i><u>kind</u></i></b> of information is available there.
Do the same with the SQL Reference Manual.
Do the same with the Utilities manual.
You don't have to read the above in depth. They are <b><i><u>reference</b></i></u> manuals. Just get familiar with <b><i><u>what</b></i></u> is there to <b><i><u>be</b></i></u> referenced. Ninety percent of the questions asked on this forum can be answered in less than 5 minutes by simply searching one of the above manuals.
Then set yourself a plan to dig deeper.
- Read a chapter a day from the Concepts Manual.
- Take a look in your alert log. One of the first things listed at startup is the initialization parms with non-default values. Read up on each one of them (listed in your alert log) in the Reference Manual.
- Take a look at your listener.ora, tnsnames.ora, and sqlnet.ora files. Go to the Network Administrators manual and read up on everything you see in those files.
- When you have finished reading the Concepts Manual, do it again.

Error ORA-20001 when Creating an Application Express Workspcce
I have a 11.1.0.6.0 Enterprise Edition database running on a Fedora 10 box that was created using dbca. At the time, I did not select Oracle Application Express for installation. However, I can configure APEX and start it with URL http://<host>:8080/apex/apex_admin and log in as ADMIN. Looks like I'm ready to go... Database accounts APEX_PUBLIC_USER, FLOWS_030000 and FLOWS_FILES existed at the time I configured APEX.
Following the 2 Day + Application Express Developer's Guide, I get error "ORA-20001: Unable to create user. ORA-01935: missing user or role name" when I attempt to create a workspace for the demo application. In an attempt to resolve this, I've run dbca again to install Application Express in the database, and I then get "ORA-04063: package body "FLOWS_030000.WWV_FLOWS" has errors: ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called: "FLOWS_03000.WWV_FLOW" ORA-06512: at line 2". DBA_OBJECTS reports table WWV_FLOWS owned by this user, but no package body of the same name.
Can anyone advise what I need to do to resolve the ORA-20001 error when I attempt to create a APEX workspace, or resolve the ORA-04063 error when I attempt to use dbca to install APEX in the database?

To answer my own question, while computer is turned off, (after taking anti-static precautions) plug power to sata drive.
Connect sata data cable to M/board, do not connect sata data cable to drive.
Enable sata 1 & 2 in bios, boot to windows.
Drivers are installed for device.
Then carefully plug sata data cable into sata drive.
Windows detects new hardware.
Enter Disk Management & partition/format to your hearts content.

KTHi KT,
Actually the problem is not ORA-1403, but the <i>ORA-00406: COMPATIBLE parameter needs to be 9.2.0.0.0 or greater</i>.
Please update the COMPATIBLE parameter in your init<SID>.ora file and restart the database. This should fix your problem.
