Hi,
where on earth are these dinosaurs still living ?
Kernel 6.20, Ora 8.1, ... come on, tell me this beast is still runing NT4.0 ?
Ok, that looks not (yet) to be a password problem, but one of wrong environment.
C  Client NLS settings: AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1
C  Database NLS settings: AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8DEC
C  *** ERROR => NLS_LANG not set appropriately (DB installation requires AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8DEC) ==> connection refused
This looks, like you need to set the environment
NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8DEC
login as sidadm and set the environment
logoff and login again and validate the correct setting.
R3trans -d
should work without errors then.
Once that works, execute
NTENV2REG.EXE
confirm the popup. This will copy the environment of sidadm to the registry section,
where SAPServiceSID can fetch the correct NLS_LANG for next restart.

    Thanks.

Well the list above shows that you have configured a pre-authorized access for the oracle user, and this is where the password check is failing. If you don't have any Windows in your OSB domain then you should remove this entry so it just shows as [none]

  • O1034 Oracle not available error

Right, I'm running on a Windows Xp platform, I've installed ok and it runs ok. I have manually altered the password of user HR from within sqlplus, and everything is fine. The problem comes when I switch off and switch back on, I am unable to start the database.
Running sqlplus system/password gives me ORA-01034 Oracle not available and ORA-27101: Shared memory realm does not exist.
I have tried running stobdb.bat and startdb.bat which both run ok, but I still get the oracle not available error when going into sqlplus. It seems that the PC does not install the oracle set up on booting perhaps? I also cannot access the "Go to database home page", from my web browser, but I'm not sure if it is necessary to access that home page?

We are seeing this a little bit, and not sure what is causing it at this stage. Starting the database manually seems to help, or at least points to the root cause problems.
The steps to start the database manually are posted at Re: ORA-01033 after starting and trying to connect. and also posted below
To shutdown manually go to the SQL Command Line (as the OS user that installed Oracle).
At the SQL Prompt SQL> issue
    connect / as sysdba
    For example
    SQL> connect / as sysdba
    Connected.
    Then type
    shutdown immediate;
    You should see the following
    SQL> shutdown immediate;
    Database closed.
    Database dismounted.
    ORACLE instance shut down.
    Then type
    startup
    You should see the following
    SQL> startup
    ORACLE instance started.
Total System Global Area 599785472 bytes
    Fixed Size 1249348 bytes
    Variable Size 192942012 bytes
    Database Buffers 402653184 bytes
    Redo Buffers 2940928 bytes
    Database mounted.
    Database opened.
Just to be sure, also try a select
    select count(*) from hr.employees;
    You should see
    SQL> select count(*) from hr.employees;
    COUNT(*)
    107
Any problems or errors reported with any of these steps, please let us know.

  • ORA-01034: ORACLE not available error while creating ASM or database

    Hi all,
I am using oracle database 10gR2 on windows 2000 pro system.
I have Installed oracle software and there was no issue with that but now I am facing ORA-01034: ORACLE not available error while trying to create asm instance or even while creating database through dbca.
I have tried creating the asm instance manually and it was succeeded. Also database creation was successful through manual steps.
Any idea guys?? How to resolve this issue??

    Hi FK,
On Windows, it can sometimes mean that the services are not running. I have a check here:
    http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_check_verify_windows_services.htm
    Have you tried using oradim?
    http://www.dba-oracle.com/tips_oradim_utility.htm
The oradim utility provides more than just the ability to start and stop Windows databases. Windows oradim can create and edit databases. It also allows DBAs to configure script-based installation mechanisms.
The oradim utility is used on the Windows platform to perform these tasks.
C:\oracle9i\bin\oradim -startup -sid ORCL92 –usrpwd manager
    -starttype SRVC,INST -pfile C:\oracle9i\admin\ORCL92\pfile\init.ora
    • startup – Indicates that the specified instance should be started.
    • sid – The SID of the database to start.
    • usrpwd – The password for the database user.
    • starttype – Specifies whether to start the instance, the service, or both
    Hope this helps. . .

  • Reset/change password error - cannot log in to builder - HELP!

I'm encountering the same problem I described some time ago here: Reset/change password error - cannot log in to builder
Briefly, the builder tells me I must change my password. When I attempt to do so, the password change page displays a null username, and tells me that my existing password is invalid. The same password failure occurs using the new password emailed to me by the "Rest password" function.
I've cleared my browser cache, closed the browser, rebooted my client (WinXP), to no avail.
    Anyone able to help?
    Thanks
    jd

    Update:
Workaround: log in using a different client machine.
    Scary.
It looks the same problem reported, without response, here: Apex.oracle.com SaaS Login - Must Change Password.

  • Invalid Password error on Instance Deletion

    Hi,
    OS: Windows 2000
    Oracle Version: 8.1.7.0.0
Whenever I try to delete an instance through Database Configuration Assistant, I confirm that I'm sure I want to delete it and I then receieve a DBCA-00012 Invalid Password error. I haven't even entered a password and I wasn't asked to submit one during database install.
Anybody got any ideas how I might be able cleanly delete the instances? Is there a password file somewhere that I could delete to allow me to continure without the error?
    Thanks

What password are you referring to?  There is a password for the Base Station that is used to configure the Time Capsule and then there is the Wireless password itself that is used to connect other devices to your Time Capsule.  You can see all of these passwords by running Airport Utility, selecting your Time Capsule, clicking edit, then at the very top menu bar you will see drop down boxes for File, Edit, Base Station, etc.  Click on Base Station and then click Show Passwords.  You will see the WPA or WEP Password that you can use to connect to the Time Capsule wirelessly.
To change the wireless password you just click on the Wireless tab in AirPort Utility and enter a new password in both of the password fields.

    Problem Resolved!
I found out that I had 'http' instead of 'httpd' in the statement where I
              registered my servlet, SqlServlet.
Now, I am having difficulty with hot deployment. The server is returning
              error 404.

  • IFS Schema password error

After setting my ifs schema password with ifsconfig and try to run ifssetup, this is what I get:
Enter password for ifs schema names IFSSYS:<password>
    ERROR
ORA-01034: Oracle not available (but DB is running)
Invalid password specified or Oracle 8i database is not running. Some control files need to be updated with the ifs schema password to bring up the ifs Java Web Server. Please erun ifsjwssetup with the correct ifs schema password to use JWS.
I have tried different passwords with different schema names other than IFSSYS and I get the same result. Any ideas? Thanks.

You have a problem with TNSNAMES or something similar. First get SQLPLUS working so you can connect at system/manager to your target instace. Then check that you can connect as ifssys using sql plus

  • Emca invalid username/password error on -repos create for recovered DB on new server

database install without db create went fine.
restore of two backup databases went fine.
reconfig of Apex on new server went fine
    cannot get dbcontrol configured.
emca -repos create  works fine with sysman et al dropped
    but when I try
    emca -config dbcontrol db
I get an invallid username/password error
the log file indicates that it is initSqlEngineLoacly failing with a null value for user
and returning the ORA-01017 invalid username/password error.
why is it not using the sys user for this connection?  I don't see a user parameter in the emca help.
Any suggestions? Do zi need to install the 32 bit Oracle client?

error in log file is :

How do I configure emca to connect using SYS for this?  That appears to be the problem at this point.

Could RADIUS be be the responsible? Why RADIUS will send so many attempts to the AD/DCs?
We´re using 802.1X with NPS n the DCs and user have two devices in the same physical port of HP the Switch: the user´s computer AND a Alcatel IP Phone, authenticated by a DOmain
    User (service account) using MD5
We do not trace much information right now, but some of the users that are complaining about that, have changed their password recently, therefore, for some reason, the old
    password are being re-used?

    Hi Kay,
Since user passwords got changed recently, the account lockouts should be caused by stored expired credentials. Credentials can be stored within services, programs, scheduled tasks, scripts, RDP sessions or even mobile phones.
I suggest you try to locate the machine where bad password attempts are generated through event messages, or by using network monitor to capture real-time network traffic. After that, find the source which is sending the bad password, then clear stored credentials
    on it.
If the source cannot be located, you may rename those problematic accounts to avoid subsequent lockouts.
