If try to startup instance, any errors from SQL?
No information in alert log file? Are you chcking in right alert logfile?
Check any background processes are running or not?
$ps -ef|grep pmon
However one instance running, So you can kill that session which is not running and start again.

  • Oracle XE: Database does not mount automatically after Windows reboot

    Hi,
after rebooting a Windows 2003 Server, the Oracle Services seem to start properly, but the database is not mounted.
However the database can be mounted manually via that SQL console.
How do I achieve that the database is mounted automatically?

    Hi,
This issue indicate corrupted database or corrupted logs. I suggest you to check and repair the database or check and repair the database log.
    1. Check the state of database by following command: eseutil /mh "Path of the database"
    Ps: Default path of the database is “C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Mailbox\Mailbox Database\Mailbox Database.edb”
Default path of the log files is “C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Mailbox\Mailbox Database\E00”
    2. If the state is in clean shutdown, move all the log files from the Transaction logs folder location and then mount the database.
    3. If the state is in dirty shutdown, check if the log files that is indicated as Logs required is available or not.
    4. You can run Eseutil ml “Path of the log file\e00” to make sure that the log files is required is in a Clean state. This command will help you check the health of all the log files in the location.
    5. If the log files are healthy, then try Soft recovery with the command Eseutil /r e00 /l ”Path of log files” /p “Path of the database”
    Note:
Make sure you make a backup of the database before attempting any kind of repairs
    6. Once the command completes successfully, then mount the database.
    7. In case the required log files are not available in a clean state or missing, either restore from a successful back up or perform Hard repair with defragment.
Refer to this file about hard repair:

I had a problem of accessing Oracle 10g database homepage. After a couple of days of research and discussions with coworker we found a solution.
    Here is the solution:
    1. Find out your default browser.
    2. Configure your default web browser to connect to the Oracle Database XE Database Home Page as stated
    here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25329_01/doc/install.102/b25143/toc.htm#CIHHJEHF
If this does not help de-install Oracle XE and reinstall following the instruction. During re-installation find out your default browser and configure it as instructed.
I suspect when the default web browser changes the Oracle 10g XE Database Home Page stops working.
    Good luck

  • Oracle 10g - Database does not respond to the application users

    Hi all,
I am using ORACLE 10g database with 75 users connections 50 local and 20 remote users using ADSL and dial up modem. Operating system on server is
    Windows 2003.
All of a sudden users making the entry get disconnected getting the error as
ORA-12516: TNS:listener could not find available handler with matching protocol stack
Other case users when using the appliaction get their PC hanged and connection
to oracle fails again. they cannot login to the application that time, the error is
ORA-04031: unable to allocate %s bytes of shared memory ("%s","%s","%s","%s")
Twice a day the users trying to login cannot access the database server.
Front end application is in VB using exe file. When the users cannot logon
to the database. I manually stop the ORACLE services(including DB console) and
    then stop the listener.
This practice is going on since last two months.
    Server Scenario
After Installing Oracle Standard Edition 10g.
System tablespace utilization is 98.5% which is 465 MB out of total 470 MB.
There is only one Rollback Segment named as SYSTEM.
    when we install 9i 4 rollback segments as RO1, RO2, RO3, RO4 are created
    by default.
Do I need to add the datafile to SYSTEM table space as its current usage is 99.15% and its auto extend is ticked on using auto extent as 10 MB. I tried adding another datafile during weekend downtime. when I resumed on saturday morning I found it did not add any datafile which I had put on thursday eveninig as system02.dbf.
Do I need to add a new datafile to the SYSTEM tablespace ?
Do I need to create new rollback segments apart from SYSTEM rollback segment ?
My current schema size 15360Mb with its usage as 9.32% (1432.25 Mb).
    Please reply !!!

  • URGENT: Java stored procedure on oracle 92 database is not working

    Hi,
I am having an issue regarding java stored procedures. I have created a java class that uses the bouncycastleprovider ( bcprov-jdk13-141.jar ) to encrypt strings. I tested against the version of the java virtual machine that comes bundled with oracle and it works perfectly. I then used JDeveloper to load the class on the database with the resolve, noverify and order flags checked and it shows no errors but when I try to execute the stored procedure it throws the following exception:
    java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError:
java.lang.SecurityException: Cannot set up certs for trusted CAs: java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol: US_export_policy.jar
    at javax.crypto.SunJCE_b.<clinit>(DashoA6275)
    at javax.crypto.Cipher.a(DashoA6275)
    at javax.crypto.Cipher.getInstance(DashoA6275)
    at RijndaelEnhanced.encrypt(RijndaelEnhanced.java:57)
    at RijndaelEnhanced.encrypt(RijndaelEnhanced.java:73)
    I loaded jce1_2_2.jar, sunjce_provider.jar, bcprov-jdk13-141.jar. Also replaced the US_export_policy.jar, local_policy.jar with the unrestrictive version. I add the security provider dinamically with a call to Security.insertProviderAt(new org.bouncycastle.jce.provider.BouncyCastleProvider(), 2);
I also did a select on the user_objects table and all the classes are in VALID status.
When I run my application using the java virtual machine that is located under C:\Oracle\oracli9i\jdk\jre\bin directory it works fine but when I try to execute on the database it won't work. I found a bug that was if the jce1_2_1.jar file existed in the C:\Oracle\oracli9i\jdk\jre\lib\ext directory ( even if it's extension is renamed ) it won't work because the certification file had expired but I don't know if this has anything to do with this error.
    Am I missing something?
Please I need an urgent solution to this problem.
    Thanks in advance.

  • External tables in Oracle 11g database is not loading null value records

We have upgraded our DB from Oracle 9i to 11g...
It was noticed that data load to external tables in 9i is rejecting the records with null columns..However upgrading it to 11g,it allows the records with null values.
Is there are way to restrict loading the records that has few coulmns that are null..
Can you please share if this is the expected behaviour in Oracle 11g...
    Thanks.

Data isn't really loaded to an External Table. Rather, the external table lets you query an external data source as if it were a regular database table. To not see the rows with the NULL value, simply filter those rows out with your SQL statement:
    SELECT * FROM my_external_table WHERE colX IS NOT NULL;

  • Exchange Server 2010 SP3 Databases are not mounting after the recovery process

    Hi,
We are using Exchange server 2010 SP3 in our office. Databases are stored in an ISCSI drive mapped with the exchange. We are taking daily full backup of my Exchange server using Symantec Backup exe 2012. As a testing purpose I created a test environment
same like my existing live environment to check the disaster recovery and backup. Thankfully disaster recovery worked well and I am able to open the exchange management console and powershell. But I am not able to mount the recovered databases ending
with an error saying "Couldn't mount the database that you specified. Specified database: officialrecover; Error code:
An Active Manager operation failed.........." and even I am not able to use the utility eseutil.exe to the database with an error "access to source database failed with jet error 1811". I am able to create a new database and mount
    it.
I am using Windows Server Ent 2008 R2 64 Bit with Exchange Server 2010 SP3 in the Live environment with 3 partitions called C (279 GB), E (4.46 TB, ISCSI), F (976 GB) in my Live environment.
    For test it is Windows Server Ent 2008 R2 64 Bit with Exchange Server 2010 SP3 with 3 partitions C (240 GB), E (1.4 TB), & F (240 GB).
Please help me with your valid comments to solve and mount the database and close the issue for ever.
    With Regards
    Jay

Jared is correct that in essence the message is saying the DB cannot be found.
When you restored to your recovery server are all the paths the same, i.e. if the DB existed on E:\XYZ on the production server it must be the same on the recovery server
When you restored into the recovery site do you have AD restored into that site as well?
For the recovery server are you using iSCSI storage for it as well?   If so am I correct to assume that you have copies of the databases just for use on this server and are not trying to reference the same instance of the DB from the production
    and test/recovery server?
I have also seen an issue where DB's getting written to disk from Symantec mess up the header of the DB.  If you want to validate that the DB is actually intact and accessible you might want to check out our DigiScope product
http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp using a free DEMO license.  If it works i.e. you are able to mount in DigiScope from same location where its failing on the recovery server we know the
DB your pointing at is good and accessible from the current path but something else is amiss in your configuration
Search, Recover, & Extract Mailboxes, Folders, & Email Items from Offline Exchange Mailbox and Public Folder EDB's and Live Exchange Servers or Import/Migrate direct from Offline EDB to Any Production Exchange Server, even cross version i.e. 2003 -->

  • USB devices not mounting in one port?

I have two late 2007 MacBooks, neither of which reliably mounts a USB device plugged into the port closest to the firewire port on the left side. These two MacBooks were purchased within a week of each other about four months ago. I have returned one of them for factory repair of this problem. This was actually the second repair, since a few weeks previous the mainboard failed catastrophically.
The repair consisted of replacing the hard drive. The tech ("genius") at my local Apple store said it had been a software problem. I reinstalled each software package while testing for the problem to re-emerge, and it seemed to happen when I installed Skype for Mac 2.7.0.330. This may have been coincidental, since the problem doesn't occur when Skype isn't running, and the other MacBook doesn't have Skype installed on it at all. If I cold restart this Macbook, a USB device in the port in question will mount.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any tips will be appreciated!

I found this article whilst researching which external drive to buy to use with my powerbook and a future macbook purchase: All USB ports aren’t created equal
Could this be the cause of the problem - specifically that the problem port is not supplying enough power to your external drive because it's also powering the iSight etc?

  • XML Query works on one database and not working on others with errLPX-00241

I have one query as below
    SELECT EXTRACTVALUE
    (VALUE (xml_node),
    '/inspectionActivityArtifact/ns2:landfillTypes/ns2:type[position()=1]',
    'xmlns:ns2="http://dwm.sw.xmlNamespace/InspectionActivity"'
    ) AS TEST
    FROM artifacts a,TABLE (XMLSEQUENCE ((XMLTYPE (NVL (artifact_data, '<empty></empty>'))))) xml_node
this works well on other databases but not working on one database. Everything is same configuration and OS and everything.
I can work on other XML parsing which is working fine but not this query.
    Any idea ?

post versions and patch levels for both databases eg 10.2.0.1.0 and the error message you are getting.

    Hi,
According to your description, your problematic database is in dirty shutdown state and your soft repair ends with errors. In this case, I'd like to say, the dirty shutdown state may be caused by that the required log files are missing. Thus, I recommend
you try the hard recovery by using  Eseutil /p or
    Eseutil /d /r.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/259851/en-us

    First,
    alter database datafile 6 offline;
    alter database open;
Then, if you have followed your naming convention and the tablespace contains only indexes, relocate them to another tablespace and drop the damaged one. There are some complications in this process, but you won't lose any data.

  • Restore Oracle XE database to another machine

I have an oracle XE database on a Windows XP machine, and I want to copy it to a Windows 7 machine.
On the XP, I performed a backup through the "Backup Database" from the GUI (BACKUP.BAT). The Oracle backup created 3 new folders underneath C:\ORACLEXE\APP\ORACLE\FLASH_RECOVERY_AREA\XE\
    ARCHIVELOG
    AUTOBACKUP
    BACKUPSET
I installed XE on the Windows 7 machine and it seems to work well.
Then I coped the 3 backup folders onto a jump drive and put them in the corresponding folder structure on the new Windows 7 machine. I ran the Restore from the GUI as an administrator (RESTORE.BAT). The restore failed, and I can't seem to figure out why. I'm not sure what the Sequence Numbers are all about.
Now I can't get into Apex or Apex_Admin
Thanks for taking a look at this.
The contents of the OXE_RESTORE file are as follows:

After playing around a little bit I fixed the problem.
There are a total of four folders in \FLASH_RECOVERY_AREA\XE\ I had only copied three of the four.
    ARCHIVELOG
    AUTOBACKUP
    BACKUPSET
The Windows services keep the files in ONLINELOG open, so I had to shut down the services and then work with the folder. Therefore four folders have to be transported and copied onto the new machine:
    ARCHIVELOG
    AUTOBACKUP
    BACKUPSET
    ONLINELOG
If you run as an administrator "Backup" from the GUI, it executes BACKUP.BAT, a batch file which calls RMAN. Once that's done, copy the four folders to the same location on the target machine and then run as an administrator "Restore" (RESTORE.BAT).
In another forum someone said to be sure that the "Archive Logs" are copied. It should be interpreted to mean not just the "ARCHIVELOG" folder, but all four folders.

  • Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database (afscpgcs) after clone

    Hi,
I have just moved (clone using rapidclone) two of our 11.5.10.2 install from a solaris SPARC 8 to 10 . After the clone, while discoverer 10g works perfectly well in one environment, it is giving the error below in the another environment.
    - Failed to connect to database - Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database (afscpgcs)
    Notes:
    1. For the 2 environments, nothing as changed apart from the hostnames.
    2. The password has not changed on both - from source to targets.
    3. This happens when launching discoverer 10g from Apps.... discoverer works well on it own if not launched from apps.
I raised a SR with oracle and the 2 things they said have not worked. they said
    1. change signon password case parameter - but I cannot find that in the list of system parameters on our system.
    2. The other note says apply patch 6430269 and I can confirm this patch has been on the system for sometime.
Please advise on this if you have come accross this before and you can help here.
    Thanks

Thanks for your concern. I have used the notes you listed but no luck. One thing I have to point out here is that I have always cloned from solaris 8 to 8 for years without this problem. Now I am cloning from solaris 8 to 10 and the problems is on just one environment. The other is working well. The problem seems to be related to the apps password but the password has not changed at all. Also, I have tried to change the password to something else and ran autoconfig but no luck. Please help

I have a Oracle Apps - 6i Report works fine with one instance and the same report does not fetch any records in the other instance..What does the concurrent request log file say?
Even its not printing the messages in the before report trigger, when i query from the backed it fetches records. This is really strange.. Please open the form using Reports Builder, compile it (make sure it returns no error), and upload it again to the same instance.
    Thanks,
    Hussein
