Oracle 9i Query Issue
Dear All,
i have problem i am making a project in VB.NET the query is not working then i copied the query and tun it on SQL Plus but it gives me zero counts please see the query bellow
SQL> SELECT COUNT(*) FROM WO WHERE TO_CHAR(SCHEDULED_DATE,'DD/MON/YYYY') = TO_CHAR('DD/MON/YYYY');
COUNT(*)
0
Please help me

No actually you have provided me Oracle Bind variable query i am not using any bind variable i am using this query in VB.NET if i would be able to get results from it on SQL Plus then it would work in VB.NET.Well, you definitely should be using bind variable. And the resulting SQL should look like the one provided by Etbin, that is DATE compared to DATE, not VARCHAR2 compared to VARCHAR2.
If you don't know why you should use bind variables - search in the literature.
If you decline to do so, you should not be in the business of building (Oracle) database applications.

Oracle Sql Query issue Running on Different DB Version
Hello All,
I have come into situation where we are pruning sql queries on different DB version of Oracle and have performance issue. Let me tell you in brief and i really appreciate for your prompt response as its very imperative stuff.
I have a query which is running on a DB of version 7.3.4 and it takes around 30 mins where as the same query when run on 8i it takes 15sec., its a huge difference. I have run the statistics to analyze on 7.3 and its comparatively very high. Question here is, the sql query trys to select data from same schema table and 2 tables from another DB using DB link and 2 other tables from another DB using DB link.So,how can we optimize this stuff and achieve this run as same time as 8i DB in 7.3. Hope i am clear about my question, Eagerly waiting for your replies.
Thanks in Advance.

Ram8Difficult to be sure without any more detailed information, but I suspect that O7 is in effect copying the remote tables to local temp space, then joining; 8i is factoring out a better query to send to the remote DBs, which does as much work as possible on the remote DB before shipping remaining rows back to local.
You should be able to use EXPLAIN PLAN to identify what SQL is being shipped to the remote DB, If you can't (and it's been quite a while since I tried DB links or O7) then get the remote DBs to yourself, and set SQL_TRACE on for the remote instances. Execute the query and then examine the remote trace files, And don't forget to turn off the tracing when you're done.
Of course it could just be that the CBO got better,,,
HTH - if not, post your query and plans for the local db, and the remote queries.

Dataset query issues twice if the dataset is connected to matrix and used in multilookup function
hello everybody.
could not find any information if this is an intended behavior:
dataset query issues twice if the dataset is connected to matrix and used in multilookup function
parameters in both queries are the same
ssrs: 2008 r2, sharepoint 2010 integrated
sharepoint 2010: september 2014 cu
thanks in advance
Sergey VdovinHello, Wendy.
I prepared a very empty sample report for you to demonstrate the problem - with this report, i hope, there is no place to discuss the shrinking of time data retrieval.
There is one dataset, one parameter and one lookup function. The query is executed twice.

Oracle Text query: Escaping characters and specifying progression sequences
How can I combine the escaping of a search string and the specification of progression sequences within an oracle text query
so that in all cases the correct results are delivered (see example below)?
The scenario in which to use this is the following:
+ Database: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.2.0
+ Requirement: Hitlist of results ordered by score whereby the different part within
the result list are specified using progression sequences within oracle text query
Example:
create table service_provider (
id number,
name_c varchar(100),
uri_c varchar(255)
insert into service_provider values (1,'ABB Company Mgmt','http://www.abb-company-mgmt.de');
insert into service_provider values (2,'Dr. Abbas Ming','http://www.dr-abbas-ming.de');
insert into service_provider values (3,'SABBATA United','http://www.sabbata-united.de');
insert into service_provider values (4,'ABB','http://www.abb.de');
insert into service_provider values (5,'AND Company Mgmt','http://www.and-company-mgmt.de');
insert into service_provider values (6,'Dr. Andas Ming','http://www.dr-andas-ming.de');
insert into service_provider values (7,'SANDATA United','http://www.sandata-united.de');
insert into service_provider values (8,'AND','http://www.and.de');
Query 1: works correctly in this case
select * from (
select /*+ FIRST_ROWS */ score(1), this_.*
from service_provider this_
where
CONTAINS ( this_.NAME_C , '<QUERY><textquery grammar="CONTEXT">' ||
'<progression>' ||
'<seq>abb</seq>' ||
'<seq>abb%</seq>' ||
'<seq>%abb%</seq>' ||
'<seq>fuzzy(abb,1,100,WEIGHT)</seq>' ||
'</progression></textquery></QUERY>', 1 ) > 0
order by score(1) desc, this_.NAME_C
) where rownum < 21
delivers
76 4 ABB http://www.abb.de
76 1 ABB Company Mgmt http://www.abb-company-mgmt.de
51 2 Dr. Abbas Ming http://www.dr-abbas-ming.de
26 3 SABBATA United http://www.sabbata-united.de
Query 2: procudes error
select * from (
select /*+ FIRST_ROWS */ score(1), this_.*
from service_provider this_
where
CONTAINS ( this_.NAME_C , '<QUERY><textquery grammar="CONTEXT">' ||
'<progression>' ||
'<seq>and</seq>' ||
'<seq>and%</seq>' ||
'<seq>%and%</seq>' ||
'<seq>fuzzy(and,1,100,WEIGHT)</seq>' ||
'</progression></textquery></QUERY>', 1 ) > 0
order by score(1) desc, this_.NAME_C
) where rownum < 21
produces ORA-29902, ORA-20000, DRG-50901 because AND is a reserved word in oracle text
So we need escaping ...
Query 3: does not work correctly
select * from (
select /*+ FIRST_ROWS */ score(1), this_.*
from service_provider this_
where
CONTAINS ( this_.NAME_C , '<QUERY><textquery grammar="CONTEXT">' ||
'<progression>' ||
'<seq>{abb}</seq>' ||
'<seq>{abb%}</seq>' ||
'<seq>{%abb%}</seq>' ||
'<seq>fuzzy({abb},1,100,WEIGHT)</seq>' ||
'</progression></textquery></QUERY>', 1 ) > 0
order by score(1) desc, this_.NAME_C
) where rownum < 21
delivers
76 4 ABB http://www.abb.de
76 1 ABB Company Mgmt http://www.abb-company-mgmt.de
Query 4: does not produce an error, but also does not work correctly
select * from (
select /*+ FIRST_ROWS */ score(1), this_.*
from service_provider this_
where
CONTAINS ( this_.NAME_C , '<QUERY><textquery grammar="CONTEXT">' ||
'<progression>' ||
'<seq>{and}</seq>' ||
'<seq>{and%}</seq>' ||
'<seq>{%and%}</seq>' ||
'<seq>fuzzy({and},1,100,WEIGHT)</seq>' ||
'</progression></textquery></QUERY>', 1 ) > 0
order by score(1) desc, this_.NAME_C
) where rownum < 21
delivers
76 8 AND http://www.and.de
76 5 AND Company Mgmt http://www.and-company-mgmt.deAnywhere that you just use the word by itself, enclose it in {}, but anywhere that you add % on either side or both don't enclose it in {}. Please see the demonstration below.

Converting Oracle XML Query Result in Java String by using XSU
Hi,
I have a problem by converting Oracle XML Query Result in Java
String by using XSU. I use XSU for Java.
For example:

convert oracle.xml.sql.query.OracleXMLQuery to java.lang.String.
Can somebody tell me a method() for converting to solve my

ThanksHmmm.. Pretty basic just look at the example:
OracleXMLQuery qry = new OracleXMLQuery(conn,"Select max(ps.datum) from preise ps where match='"+args[0]+"'");
String xmlString = qry.getXMLString();

Hi All,
I have created a web query and assigned it to a role. I have moved the role, web templete and the query from dev to QA was able run the query fine without issues.
The problem I am having is when I make changes to the query and transport it to QA...when I run the query from the role menu it still shows the old query instead of the changed query.
Can someone please explain what are the steps I need to take when I make changes to exsisting web query in dev and move to QA and be able to see the changes. What are all the objects I need to collect. Also would like to know if there are any settings on the role menu or web templete that need to be changed and also any buffers that I need to cleared??
Any help is appriciated and will give max points.
ThanksBWdesi,

Hi,
I have a View object with various attributes (eg, name1, name2, name3, address1, address2, address3 etc). A query/table component based on this view object works just fine. However, I wish to replace name1, name2, name3 and other attributes in the query with just 'name'. These attributes are still to be shown in the result table. This new 'name' attribute will be used in an Oracle Text query clause, instead of individual searches on each attribute.
My plan was to simply make the various name1, name2 etc attributes non-'queryable' in the View def to hide them from the query. Then I'd add a transient 'name' attribute. My hope was, that I could override the getWhereClause() in the ViewObjectImpl and simply tack on the oracle text clause to the WHERE (example below):
WHERE CONTAINS (
SOMECOLUMN,
'<query>
<textquery lang="ENGLISH" grammar="CONTEXT">TRANSIENT_ATTR_VALUE
..... Oracle Text query grammar stuff here .... </query>') > 0How do I access the transient value in the ViewObjectImpl to add the above SQL? Or am I going about this in completely the wrong way?
thanks,

With regard to SQL injection, does ViewCriteriaItem sanitise the 'val' from the query, or should I do that manually here myself?

if ("OraTextTransientAttrib".equals(vci.getAttributeDef().getName())) {
if (vci.getViewCriteria().isCriteriaForQuery()) {
String val = (String)vci.getValue();

// simplified version of my oracle text query
return "CONTAINS ('<query>..... " + val + "....</query>') > 0 ";
} else {
// SQL predicate for no changes to the results
// spaces needed if you have several of these blocks
return " 1=1 ";
// other blocks for other similar oracle text attribs
return super.getCriteriaItemClause(vci);

Oracle 11g - Date Issue?
Oracle 11g - Date Issue?
=====================
I hope this is the right forum for this issue, if not let me, where to go.
We are using Oracle 11g (11.2.0.1.0) on (Platform : solaris[tm] oe (64-bit)), Sql Developer 3.0.04.
Our NLS_DATE_FORMAT = 'DD-MON-RR'
Using 'RR' in the format forces two-digit years less than or equal to 49 to be interpreted as years in the 21st century (2000–2049), and years 50 and over, as years in the 20th century (1950–1999). Setting the RR format as the default for all two-digit year entries allows you to become year-2000 compliant. For example:
We have a date '01-JUN-31' in our source system. It treat this date as 01-JUN-2031' instead of '01-JUN-1931'. One century forward.
Do we able to resolve using NLS_DATE_FORMAT change?
How do we resolve this issue?
Thanks in helping.qwe16235 wrote:
Our source is Oracle data base, where S_date is defined as DATE. Why did you say STRING , when it defined as DATE data type?I doubt you source is an Oracle database. You may have it stored in an Oracle database, but it cam form somewhere else, and was very likely inserted into the table as a string, wherever it came from. Given a string that resembles a date, Oracle will try to convert it to a date using the nls_date_format parameter for the session (which can either be set in the session or inherited form the database). Perhaps this will help explain:
SQL> create table t (conv_type varchar2(10), dt date);
Table created.
SQL> alter session set nls_date_format = 'dd-mon-rr';
Session altered.
SQL> insert into t values ('Implicit', '01-jun-31');
1 row created.
SQL> insert into t values ('Explicit', to_date('01-jun-1931', 'dd-mon-yyyy'));
1 row created.
SQL> commit;
Commit complete.
SQL> select conv_type, to_char(dt, 'dd-mon-yyyy') dt
2 from t;
CONV_TYPE DT
Implicit 01-jun-2031
Explicit 01-jun-1931So, unless you are really inserting dates, not strings that look like dates, you are going to have problems.

Pl-Sql Oracle Function Concurrency Issue
Hi All,
Issue - pl-sql Oracle Function performance issue, when muliple users are accessing the function
Detail -
Oracle 11g / Linux Server
I have developed a pl-sql oracle function to retrieve information from 3 tables, output as a particluar type array.
Single request is getting processed within 2.2 seconds, but when multiple request are sent concurrently <tested with 50>, time taken for each output is different.
BreakUp of Response times:-
8 messages took - 2.2 sec
+8 messages took - 4.4 sec
++8 messages took - 6.6 sec....etc
I'm looking for any DB tunning parameter, which will help to resolve this issue.
My only aim is to expose developed function to multiple users, who all can access it concurrently, but response should limit within 2.2 seconds.
Any thoughts + guidance is higly appreciated.
Thanks

I had query issue on planning layout
Sold mat price qty amount
100 3 5 5 25 layout 1
100 4 10 5 50 layout2
when I should removed material cal has to come like this
100 15 10 75
but I getting value like
100 15 10 150
can u plz tell me how to slove this
regards
rajuDear Raju,
In the query, for the Calculated Key Figure (Amount)
Select properties, enhanced and change to:
"BEFORE AGGREGATION"
It seems to be doing after aggregation, which is default.
it is aggregating:
price = 5+10 = 15
qty = 5+5 = 10
Amount = 15 * 10 = 150
Good luck, BB -
Physical query issued by Obiee when cache is on is different and slow
When the same report runs in OBIEE 10g and cache is OFF it takes less then 1min to get results. If cache is turned ON physical query issued by Obiee is totally different and it takes 2h to get results. Has anyone experienced this with having cache on that some queries are performing poorly.
Thanks,
TatjanaWe are using BI Apps Order Management and Fulfillment Analytics and all tables are cached anyway. Dimensions used are not that huge up to 40K rows. What should I check when it comes to DB query? As I said is different than one generated when cache is disabled although both have the almost the explain plan.

MSSQL 2005 to Oracle Database Conversion Issue
Hi Experts,
We have a requirement where we need to fetch data from MSSQL2005 and store it in Oracle DataBase.
Could you all please let me know which KM module i need to import to achieve it.
Cheers,
AndyAndy
There are a number of options. You should select based on the volume of data and platform, and flexibility of your architecture etc
- At the simplest level, you could use the LKM SQL to Oracle, which will issue a SELECT on the source and do INSERTS on the target (using prepared statements etc, so not horrendous)
- You could use the a bulk loading methodology - by using SQLUNLOAD (or bcp) and then load into Oracle using External Tables or SQLLOADER, which will probably be the fastest solution. (I created a KM which generates all the right code to load the data that way, but without a staging area, you can find it here
If you want a staging area table etc, then you could modify the code in that KM to be an LKM rather than an IKM. -
Does SAP or Oracle have an issue with these type of processors?
Does SAP or Oracle have an issue with these type of processors?
Intel Xeon X5260 & E5450 vs Intel Itanium PROCESSORS
I want a Sales / Marketing URL link or white papers that talks about processor recommendations.

SAP does neither "recommend" nor "deny" any processors.
If you check http://service.sap.com/benchmarks then you get a lot of machines with different CPUs/operating ssytems and database combinations.
Choose the one that suits best for you.
