Oracle adapters logs

I have trying to connect to JDE OneWorld XE using Oracle adapters. I haven't been too successful and am getting soem popups telling me to check the logs. My problem now is where I can find these logs... I have been through all the log files in the J2EE folder but I can't find logs that tell me anything. And nothing like the logs shown in topics like this one: JDE adapter configuration using Oracle fusion middleware
So where can I find these logs?

Hi,
There could be couple of possible reasons for this. Please see below:
1. When you configure a adapter target for Siebel 7.7 or 7.8, do not supply a value for "Siebel Server" field. Please see details related to this in the "Defining a Target to Siebel" section of the Siebel adapter user guide.
2. If the adapter is installed in the UNIX platform, then necessary encoding should be added to the Application Explorer and the Application Server. Please see the details for this in the "Establishing a Connection (Target) for Siebel" of the Siebel adapter user guide.
Let me know whether this sorts out the issue or not.
Regards,
Kris

  • "found dead shared server ... " errors occured in oracle alert log

    Dear all,
    I have found a error message in my oracle alert log which is "found dead shared server 's000, pid=(10,1)'". What's this mean? and this error will casue a core dump in ../cdump directory.
    btw. Thanks the answers of antti.koskinen and yingkuan.

    one more thing, my server is not configured as shared server mode, it is dedicated server mode. but I don't know why system inform me "found dead shared server..".

  • Help using Oracle Diagnostic Logging (LoggingContext)

    Hi,
    We are developing a new Product from scratch and have decided to use as much as we can from Oracle Libraries. Currently we are using Oracle Diagnostic Logging (ODL) for logging in our application, having a wrapper on top of it, which will make our product as well in-line with other oracle product logging.
    We have requirements to log based on LoggingContext as in Log4j's Mapped/Nested Diagnostic Context. I believe we can do the same using oracle.core.ojdl.logging.context.LoggingContext but can't find more information on how to use it.
    Can anybody provide examples or links to learn, understand and implement using LoggingContext in ODL?

    ODL generates log files in XML format only. Using ODL you can not have plain text format log files. You have to decide what is more desired - log rotation (that ODL provides) or text format (which is the default, non-ODL, format). If text format is more desired than don't enable ODL and write your own shell script to rotate application log (but that can only be done while OC4J is down).
    At the same time if you are concern about readability of log file (i.e. text format is easier to read vs. xml format) than you might consider using one the log viewer tool (log viewer in EM or printlogs command line) provided by Oracle. Both of these tools help you view the logs in much more readable format than just looking at xml format log file.
    (printlogs utility is under $OH/diagnostic/bin directory. Run "printlogs -help" to read about it).
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • Oracle Daignostic Logging Vs Log4j logging

    Which type of logging is advisable/best for Oracle SOA applications? Oracle Daignostic Logging (ODL) or Log4j logging ?
    Thanks
    Sree

    We have found it better to use ODL logging because of the support of tracking logs using the ECID. This allows logs across multiple components to be followed. Also the ODL logs can be searched and viewed through EM or the plain text log files and can be exported and viewed in JDeveloper offline as well.

  • Problems with oracle adapters siebel 7.5.2 encoding ISO646-US

    Hi,
    I have to make a conexion with oracle adapters to siebel 7.5.2. I am using solaris 10 with 64 bits for or soa server and our siebel 7.5.2 server is on windows. I configure the adapter as Adapter for Siebel User's Guide. I changed the encoding like it said on Adding Required Encoding Option (All UNIX Platforms). The new enconding is utf-8. But when I try to connect to siebel it's getting and error with the encoding ISO646-US. I dont know where it is getting this enconding. Does anyone knows what it could be the problem?

  • Oracle  gives Log read is SYNCHRONOUS though disk_asynch_io is enabled!

    Hi,
    We have a Oracle 11.2.0.2.0 64 bit database on a SuSe 10 server (with NFS mounts) and in some trace file I did found the following message:
    Log read is SYNCHRONOUS though disk_asynch_io is enabled!
    I'm puzzled because Async Io is enabled:
    filesystemio_options is set to SETALL and disk_async_io is set to TRUE. When I query:select file_no,filetype_name,asynch_io from v$iostat_file;
    I get the following:
    FILE_NO FILETYPE_NAME ASYNCH_IO
    0 Other ASYNC_OFF
    0 Control File ASYNC_OFF
    0 Log File ASYNC_OFF
    0 Archive Log ASYNC_OFF
    0 Data File Backup ASYNC_OFF
    0 Data File Incremental Backup ASYNC_OFF
    0 Archive Log Backup ASYNC_OFF
    0 Data File Copy ASYNC_OFF
    0 Flashback Log ASYNC_OFF
    0 Data Pump Dump File ASYNC_OFF
    all datafiles: async_on!
    The NFS mount options for all filesystems are correct: rw,v3,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,hard,nolock,timeo=600,proto=tcp,sec=sys
    Is IO for log file allways synchrounous? The reason for my question is that we see from time to time the following Awr information:
    Top 5 Timed Foreground Events
    Event Waits     Time(s)     Avg wait (ms)     % DB time     Wait Class
    log file sync     62,576     32,908     526     67.98     Commit
    db file sequential read     539,144     11,033     20     22.79     User I/O
    DB CPU          3,800          7.85
    enq: TX - row lock contention     375     693     1848     1.43     Application
    Log archive I/O     667     59     89     0.12     System I/O
    During this high log file sync users complain about bad performance.
    Any ideas?
    regards,
    Ivan

    >
    I think this is correct. The concept behind commit processing, where your session must hang following commit until the logfile write is complete, would seem to require synchronous writes. If the write were asynchronous, in effect Oracle could return a "commit complete" message before the redo was written to disc, so it would then be theoretically possible to lose a committed transaction.
    >
    Not necessarily. Though commit's logical write must be "synchronous" or "assured", it is not necessarily that it must use synchronous i/o calls for it.
    For example Log Writer can issue 3 asynchronous writes to 3 logfiles simultaneously and then wait (or do other stuff like next buffer population) until all 3 finish, then if all 3 done successfully return control to user process.
    From a user process perspective the commit still look solid and "synchronous". But here Log Writer benefits from simultaneous parallel write to 3 disks. Plus Log Writer meantime can do some other activity with buffers or whatever. Other words it is 3 times faster versus it do that in 3 sequential synchronous i/o calls.
    to prove my point I run strace on lgwr process and run some quite big transactions.

  • Disk array configurations with oracle redo logs and flash recovery area.

    Dear Oracle users,
    We are planning to buy the new server for oracle database 10g standard edition. We put oracle database file, redo logs, and flash recovery area on each of disk array. My question is what is the best disk array configuration for redo logs and flash recovery area? RAID 10 or RAID 1? Is that possible we can duplicate Flash recovery area to the other location (such as net work drive) at the same time? Since we only have single disk array controller to connect to the disk arrays, I am try to avoid the single failure that will lose archive logs and daily backup.
    thanks,
    Belinda

    Thank you so much for the suggestion. Could you please let me know the answer for my question of FRA redundancy?

  • Where is the Oracle install log stored?

    Hi everyone. Quick question. I am installing Oracle 11G on a Linux OS. I receive failures on the first set of checks. I want to view these failures outside the GUI, but for some reason I am unable to copy the info out, and place it in a pad. Curious where Oracle logs that logfile.

  • Oracle Dataguard - Logs apply issue

    Hi,
    Due to some issue our archives logs are not applying from production to standy. we had our standby at London. i dont see any error messages. not sure what is happening, i had case open with oracle support.
    we need to shutdown all our production and DR last sunday. once it is back up it stopped sending logs. our production server is a 3 node RAC.
    i just need how to apply archive logs from production to standby which is in london.
    appricate your quick response.
    Thanks

    Hello,
    Please post the result:
    SELECT MAX(SEQUENCE#), MAX(COMPLETION_TIME), APPLIED FROM V$ARCHIVED_LOG GROUP BY APPLIED;
    and
    SELECT * FROM V$ARCHIVE_GAP;
    also you can copy them from the primary to the standby and apply them one by one:
    ALTER DATABASE REGISTER LOGFILE 'LOG_FILE_NAME';
    if the gapsequence is so big like 20 or 30 days i will recreate the dataguard using and clone it using rman.
    Kind regards
    Mohamed

  • Names of Oracle Redo logs

    Hi!
    Since we copied SAP system and execute the redo log backups our redo log s have the following convention:
    - ARCH02000_070438484190.001
    We would like to have instead the other convention:
    - <sid>ARCH02000_070438484190.001
    Quesiton:
    1) Which parameter is responsible for this setting?
    2) Which file (init<sid>.ora, other) other tools (e.g. brtools) should be edited therefore?
    Thank you!
    regards

    Hi Holger,
    the complete name is concatenated from
    log_archive_dest
    or
    log_archive_dest_1
    and
    log_archive_format
    The recommended Parameters are
    log_archive_dest_1='LOCATION=/oracle/SID/oraarch/SIDarch'
    log_archive_format='%t_%s_%r.dbf'
    which result in
    /oracle/SID/oraarch/SIDarch%t_%s_%r.dbf
    with %t expanded to the treadinstance and usually will be just "1"
    and %s beinig expanded to the sequence number
    and %r being expanded to the resetlogsid
    So I'll guess your setup is
    log_archive_dest=/oracle/SID/oraarch/SID
    log_archive_format=' ARC%S_%R%T'
    And the one system that is diffrent just has
    log_archive_dest=/oracle/SID/oraarch/
    > When I try to execute the following commando:
    >
    > ALTER SYSTEM set log_archive_format=FI1ARC%S_%R%T scope=spfile:
    >
    Try it with quotes around it. The "percent" is a special char to sql.
    ALTER SYSTEM set log_archive_format='FI1ARC%S_%R%T' scope=spfile

    you need to customer support identifier which is called CSI for can login metalink(https://support.oracle.com/CSP/ui/flash.html)
    If you dont have metalink account there is no way to see doc or download patch.
    Pretty simple process:
    1) You purchase a perpetual or term license from Oracle;
    2) At the beginning of the period, during the valid term you purchase
    Support for the period (1 year);
    3) Oracle sends you the CSI.
    Easy to do at http://store.oracle.com armed with a credit card.
