Oracle ADF - Open Script functional testing - Error Identification scenarios

Hi All,
We have been exploring OATS - Open script functional testing tool for ADF application regression testing.
We were able to record the transactions and play back those recordings, but we were not able to understand the scenarios where tool will detect as error/ issue.
Based on our understanding, Open script remembers as objects/Xpaths from screens and use them while playing back.
Could you please provide scenarios how tool identifies as errors..ex.component is removed or modified?
Simple example:
1) Open page A
2) Click on image 1 on page A
3) Click on image 2 on page A
4) Click button to navigate to Page B.
In this scenario, when we play back without changing it works fine
but if we remove or comment "image 2 on Page A " it's not throwing as error. it's continuing to next step.
commenting or removing actions/components is not considered as issue.

Windows Authentication open scrpit - functional testing

I'm new with OAT and "open script" could someone help me with this problem: I'm trying to test a website that needs windows authentication(the users belong to a certain domain and each one has a different password and profile to access to different options). I tried to record a test and i can't go through the autentication, nothing is recorded. I was searching for some solution and i found that i could give a user and password so i could ran the test always with that user, but what i need is to change this user everytime. Make sure that PC is clean(free from zero access rootkit before trying this fixes)
This firewall issue is commonly found on vista and windows 7 (64 BIT OS)
It is recommended to contact malware removal forums to remove it first and try the fix
Run the services repair tool by ESET
http://kb.eset.com/library/ESET/KB%20Team%20Only/Malware/ServicesRepair.exe
Restart the PC.Firewall and critical missing services should work.
Manual Fix
Download both the registry files
Windows firewall -
Firewall
Base filtering engine -
BFE
Launch them,You should get a UAC prompt now
Click YES & Restart your PC
Now,Press Windows+ R key and type
regedit and click ok
go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\BFE
Right click on it-permissions
Click on ADD and type
Everyone and click ok
Now Click on Everyone
Below you have permission for users
Select full control and click ok
Now,open RUN and type
services.msc and click ok
start base filtering engine service and then windows firewall service
If you still have this error
Windows could not start Windows Firewall on local Computer. See event log, if non-windows services contact vendor. Error code 5.
Download and launch this key,click YES
Shared access
give full control permission to this key similar to previous one

Right click on it -permissions
Click on Add and type
Everyone and select Full control
You should able to start firewall now
You may also be missing security center windows defender ,BITS and windows update services

Oracle/adf/view/rich/model/AsyncFetch Error in DVT

Experts,
We have some DVT components in our application which runs perfectly on integrated local Weblogic Sever. Once we deploy it to a Weblogic Standalone server, we are getttnig the following error while trying to access the DVT graph page. Rest of the application is working properly.
Error : oracle/adf/view/rich/model/AsyncFetch
followed by ADF Faces 60097
Jdev 11.1.1.5 and WLS 10.3.5

Solution : Go to EAR Deployment Profile Properties -> File Groups -> Application Libraries ->Filters and here you have to remove the libraries that are ADF DVT.

Hi ,
Is Oracle ADF is open source framework ?

Not open source in the sense that you can just download, modify and share the ADF code.
However, the source code for ADF is available for all customers with a current support contract. You open a Service Request with Oracle support, fill in some paperwork (accepting that you can't publish it, among other things) and then Oracle Support makes the ADF source code availabel to you.

Oracle TestManager run siebel functional test

Hello!
I run scripts written by Oracle OpenScript on TestManager, when you call the CAS fraemwork I get the error Timeout waiting for CAS Initialization.
if I run the script on the Oracle OpenScript that everything works.what could be the problem?

The problem is solved in this way:
Open services.msc from run and stop Oracle ATS Agent service and change startup type to Manual. Then run C:\OracleATS\agentmanager\bin\AgentManagerService.exe -c C:\OracleATS\agentmanager\bin\AgentManagerService.conf from cmd. Then try Quickrun from OTM.

Oracle ADF application - broswer cancel / retry error message

Hi
We have developed an application on Oracle ADF11g and targetted client browser to run on IE7.
We have no issues during our development and test environment, whereas while we moved the same to customers beta & then to live environment, the user experiences with the following error message frequently with the following message saying that:
"To display the webpage again, Internet Explorer needs to resend the information you've previously submitted. If you were making a purchase, you should click Cancel to avoid a duplicate transaction. Otherwise, click retry to display the webpage again."
Will any help us to identify the likely root causes for this issue:

We have identified 3 scenarios where we observed 'Cancel/Retry' message.
1. While developer wrongly set the value for height & width attribute for panelCollection control and while the end-user attempted to change the size using the menu provided by panel collection.
2. While the developer not provided try...catch covering fully for all the code part inside to an action method.
3. While the developer tried sending return page after executing responseComplete inside the to an action method.
We have corrected all these scenario, but still the end-user perceives this error message. What will be the other reasons?

Oracle Open script - Automation of Oracle CRM with oracle configurator

Hi
I'm facing any issue when recording the Order creation using Open Script (Functional testing)
as per Oracle CRM functionality while creating an order it launches a configurator to chose the relavent features against an order.
I'm getting problem when the configurator is launched , the configurator page is slowing down and no response most of of the time and not able to record single order cretion
Please suggest , is there anything that I need to disable /enable in the Open script or any other place so the configurator works normally
Note, when I create an order manually (without Open script) the configurator behaves absolutely fine and working with its optimum speed.

Oracle Load testing- Open script at the end of recording gives this error

I am recording a script for R12 in Open scirpt , but at the end of finish record Open script Load testing gives this error"Failed to correlate script has encountered a problem"
Steps I followed. Open Open script-New Script. Select Load testing Protocol(Automation) - Select Oracle EBS/Forms- Create a script. Now start recording. I have EBS R12 instance and the test I am doing is just login / open a form . After that I click Stop recording. Open script pops up a Window "Exception occured while correlating script:oracle.oats.scripting.transforms.TransformException:transfrom rule threw exception in TransformStep:oats.otas.scripting.modules.formsLT.correlationformsHttpVarSubstitution.Refer to the Error Log for Details". The tool is installed on Windiws 7 64 bit and using IE8 as a browser.
Any help?

Stupid, but have you tried to create a new script?
ANS-Yes JB . Always try with New one only not using the same. Also before I record first I try the same steps in browser to make sure it work/oepns all.The do the same via recording)
Is that the only script that doesn't work?
ANS-Every script that I record has this issue on this Windows - x 64 Laptop.
Have you tried another one? Just a simple web one?
ANS- Open script functional recording works fine.
Have you ran the Diagnose Tool (Help Menu)?
ANS- Yes- All came out Green
Have you put a specific name for the script? Special characters?
ANS-No my script name is Test1, Test2 etc

ANS- Yes Tried several times. Also I completely uninstalled/removed registry/folders, re-installed also.
But I have another Windows XP machine where I installed now that works fine. Only issue now on this Laptop - Why /where is the issue on this Laptop?

ANS- More details shows only "Exception occurred while correlating script." a one liner
When you manually run the "Correlate Script" option as JB has mentioned, first un-check all but one correlation rule. This is an additional choice in "Correlate Script" menu. If no error, "Revert to recorded" again, and then "Correlate Script" again though this time un-check all but two correlation rules. Continue this effort until you narrow down the correlation rule which throws the error.
ANS- This is a simple out of the install and I ccan see only two Rules. HTTPS Libraries and Oracle Load Form Libraries. If we leave Oracle Load form libraries checked and correlate that is where it is failing. I believe we need that Library correct?

Getting error message while trying to Develop Applications using Oracle ADF

I have just started learning Oracle ADF. I have installed Oracle ADF 11g (with Oracle 11g database) in my PC. I am an experienced Oracle Forms Developer. While trying to run the application after development in
Oracle ADF I get the following error message :
This Project has no default run target. Please choose the file you want to run. Default Run Target:
and then it gives you a browse option to select default run target file.
This message always come in any type of application I want to write in Oracle ADF. Can you please tell me what is the possible fix to this issue.
Installation of Oracle ADF did not show any error message. Oracle Middleware and webserver 11g has been installed before the installation of Oracle ADF 11g.

Let me add some missing information.
Right clicking a page or java class and selecting run or debug is ONE way to start the application with the page selected or the class selected (if the class can be started).
Sometimes it's more desirable to always start the application using the same way (e.g. start page in a unbounded task flow) regardless where you are currently working on. So you don't need to find the page in the application navigator.
For this you can use the 'Run configurations'. These (as you can have more then one) can be used to tell the framework which page or class to start if you hit the run or debug toolbar button. You can edit or create run configurations by using the menu 'run->choose active configuration->manage run configuration' or you open the project properties of the viewcontroller project and select 'run/debug/profile'. Then you get the dialog to edit or create a run configuration.
Select default (this won is created for you by the framework) and click 'edit'. Then you see the launch settings. If you are using adf task flows you can e.g. select the adfc-config.xml file as 'default run target'. This allows you to select the page to start in the 'ADF Task FLow' sub node. If you now uncheck the 'attempt to run active file...' the framework always start the page you selected from the unbounded task flow.

Calling a java script function when the value of an item changes

Hi,
I have got 2 items which are of "Text field(disabled,saves state)" type. The items are "P2_Industry" and "P2_Industry_segment". Have a link next to each item label, so that a pop up opens. Industry pop up shows all the industries and based on the selected industry, the industry segment pop up shows only the corresponding industry segment. Now, there is a problem. Once an industry and an industry segment is selected, if we change the industry, the industry segment does not change, which is not right. I want the industry segment field value to become null once the industry field is changed. Thought of writing an onChange html cell attribute, but don't know why, it is not working in the case of "Text field(disabled,saves state)" item. It works fine for just "Text field" item.
Could anyone please help me with a solution as the item must be of "Text field(disabled, saves state)" type.

Import oracle.adf.view.rich.event.DropEvent; Not Found

Ok guys I have a problem. A large number of my imports are not found when I type them into my project. I am following a book and there is no mention of this happening so I have no idea what to do. I figure maybe it is about finding libraries and adding them to my view controller but I am not sure what libraries I should add.

OFT is the old version of OpenScript, which will no longer be part of ATS as per the next major realize 9.20.
I would recommend to to spend any time looking at it.

Not able to record web navigation(URL/Certificate Error : Navigation Blocked) part of oracle application in open script !

I am trying to record script in using Functional Oracle EBS/Form in open script but only Oracle Forms actions are got captured.
I am not able to record first web navigation(URL/Certificate Error : Navigation Blocked) part, only i am getting "web.window(7, "/web:window[@index='0' or @title='about:blank']"). close()" code for navigation of URL part.
I tried with changing Capture Screen in Recorder but doesn't work.
How to resolve this.
Please help me out.

Oracle Open Script - Failed to open script error

I am receiving the following error when trying to open a script in Oracle open script
'Failed to open script' has encountered a problem.Failed to open <script_name>. See error log for details.
I have tried the Giri Mandalika's solution but there is no "<failing_script_name>" folder in specified path.
Can someone please help me to resolve this issue ?

Hi ,You can try deleting the osworkspace folder .The folder should be at C:\Users\<username>\. May be take a back up copy of the folder before deleting it.Let me know if it works.

Unable to capture the adf table column sort icons using open script tool

Hi All,
I am new to OATS and I am trying to create script for testing ADF application using open script tool. I face issues in recording two events.
1. I am unable to record the event of clicking adf table column sort icons that exist on the column header. I tried to use the capture tool, but that couldn't help me.
2. The second issue is I am unable to capture the panel header text. The component can be identified but I was not able to identify the supporting attribute for the header text.
