Oracle AS Portal forms with CSS
hey guys,
I have an Oracle AS Portal 10gR2. I have created forms on that portal. Is there any way to change the look and feel of the control buttons (save, update, delete, .. etc) in those portal forms (color, size, etc)? and how can that be done using css or another way
Portal have his own Styles for such things, where you can modify the font type, size, color and other things for pages as well for forms objects. For buttons I'm not quite shure but I remember that there is a way to change this buttons for an specific image.
Greetings.

Is there a problem using popup LOVs in a portal form with a bind variable?
I have a portal form with 2 LOVs. The second LOV is a dependent LOV whose bind variable can be NULL. I have read Note 263923.1, "How To Create Dependent Lovs In Forms", and my form works as long as I use combo boxes to display the LOVs. I need to use popups so the user can search the LOVs as they are quite lengthy. Plus I want to be able to pick a value from my second LOV without selecting a value from the first LOV -- hence, my bind variable can be null and that is where my problem lies. As long as I select a value from the first LOV, the second LOV popup will work. If I click on the icon to display the second LOV without pre-selected a value from the first LOV, I get the following error:
POPUP LOV ERROR:
LOV: "9A17692880B6B8509F514F5B9CA9EC808DD403218B3CF19A33C04CD1FAB0ADE17ADC33E6B67998A933357CE5264D204E"
Parse Message: Parse as pre-set global: "TORE".
Find Message: LOV is of type DYNAMIC (LOV based on SQL query).
Query: "SELECT ...."
wwv_bind.prepare_bind: ORA-01403: no data found
My form is based on a table with a custom layout. The sql for the second LOV is similar to: SELECT ENAME, EMPNO FROM SCOTT.EMP WHERE (DEPTNO = :DEPT AND :DEPT IS NOT NULL) OR :DEPT IS NULL.
Thanks in advance for any help,
CarolDon't use EPS any more! It does not support transparency nor color management.
If you save vector files from Illustrator, use AI with PDF compatiblity.
If you save image files from Photoshop, use PSD.
If you save image files combined with vector forms and/or text from Photoshop, use PDP which is a Photoshop PDF.
For vectors from Illustrator use CMYK files.
For images use RGB, conversion to CMYK should never done before PDF export, better, if the printer allows it, is to export a PDF with live transparency as it is PDF/X-4
If the printer requires a PDF with CMYK only export a PDF/X-1a. -
Can't style forms with CSS in DWCS6 / Need to add WYSIWYG menu
Hello everyone,
i put both my "problems" in a single topic:
1) I was trying to add some style to my pages with forms in them, but it seems it doesn't work so well.... i explain: i create a php page, i insert a form with text fields (username and password, for example) and the "login" button. The form ID is "LogForm". I create a CSS class, called ".FormCSS" and inside i put the rule "align text: right". I apply the rule to the form and all the text inside goes to the right. I try online (real server and local server, i tried both) but nothing happens, the elements of the form stay on the left. I tried to apply the rul to the ID of the form. Nothing.
Probably i'm doing something wrong. Even with text and tables inside the form, i can't move/modify them, at all. In design view i see all the changes, online i can't (chrome and IE). What do i have to do?
2) I'm creating a page to insert long text in a database, like when you post in a forum. I'd like to insert a sort of toolbar with the align options, style, and so on, like the WYSIWYG editors. Is it possibile? Is there a way to put a toolbar like that in DWCS6?
Thanks#1 You're not styling the correct form selectors: form, fieldset, lable label, input, textarea...

Oracle 9i WEB-forms, with or without Headstart?
We have some applications that are created with Designer 2.1.2 and Headstart 2.1.2 and we are about to migrate these to Oracle9i Web Forms and here are my questions:
1) What are the advantages/disadvantages if we continue to use Headstart?
2) What do we need to get Headstart working together with Oracle 9i Web Forms?
3) Where do we order new software/license for "Headstart for 9i"?
4) Are there any way we can get support on Headstart except the forum on OTN?
5) Briefly explained, if we remove Headstart and replace it with own-developed code, what would our main tasks/problems be?
6) Are there any functionality we cannot have if we remove Headstart from our applications?1) What are the advantages/disadvantages if we continue to use Headstart?
The advantages would be more or less the same as for Headstart 2.1.2, except for the fact that you can make use of new features, and it runs on the web too! A 'disadvantage' would be that only web forms is supported out of the box (not client/server) and you need to set up an application server. Of course you need to migrate, which sometimes can be a difficult task. However, this depends on things like customizations on top of Headstart, typical client/server features that have been used and that cannot be migrated to web forms etc. A lot of this has been documented in the Headstart Migration Guide.
2) What do we need to get Headstart working together with Oracle 9i Web Forms?
We build Headstart against Designer 9i (+ Developer 9i that comes with it). At this point we still are working on Headstart for Designer 9i.
3) Where do we order new software/license for "Headstart for 9i"?
Contact your Oracle Consulting Manager, or call Oracle and ask for Mike Kruijsdijk.
4) Are there any way we can get support on Headstart except the forum on OTN?
You can hire consultancy from us or one of our partners.
5) Briefly explained, if we remove Headstart and replace it with own-developed code, what would our main tasks/problems be?
To mention some of them:
- It probably would take man-years to build a template package with the same functionality
- Headstart code at some points deals with Forms bugs, which you now have to deal with yourself
- You have no support any more (upgrades) and need to do upgrades for new versions of Designer yourself. I've seen more than one customer that are years behind with upgrading to new versions of Designer, because of this.
And many more. You really should investigate this thouroughly before you start on this. It would not surprise me if you come to the conclusion you might as well rebuild your applications completely.
6) Are there any functionality we cannot have if we remove Headstart from our applications?
You can have anything you like, as long as you build it yourself. But for practical reasons I suppose you will not have RuleFrame for example.
As long as you don't start building new applications with it, the code practically is yours, so you might consider to do the upgrade of Headstart yourself. Of course support will be more difficult, but you still can hire consultancy.

How to refresh Portal form with LOV POPUP ?
I have a portal form which has a LOV which is a POPUP.
When the POPUP is filled, I need that another LOV (a combo box) be refreshing by its dependent bind variable.
When the Popup is filled, nothing happens.
I tried with this javascript:
do_event(this.form, this.name, 1, 'CUSTOM', '');
But it works only if the first LOV that is the Popup is use as a combo box.
I still need to use the Popup.
Thanks.
Enrique.This is a known issue and this is soon going to be fixed .It might be available in the next patch.
Actually you will see that if you have written code in onChange of POPUP then if you change the value in the text box of the POPUP lov it will work but when you will select it from the POPUP values the event will not be generated.

How to refresh Portal form with dependent LOVs ?
I have a portal form which has dependent LOVs, the first LOV is
a Site LOV and the next LOV is a Teacher LOV. Once a Site is
selected, the form refreshes to load the Teacher's LOV with
teachers belonging to the selected Site.
In some cases the Site is assigned internally (using Javascript)
in such cases the form does not refresh automatically; which
causes the problem, as all the Teachers of all the Sites are
loaded in the LOV.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
HilalPut this code into the javascript onChange event of the list box
that you want to automatically refresh the screen with:
do_event(this.form,this.name,1,'CUSTOM','');
that should cause the screen to refresh when an item is chosen.
at that point, the 2nd list box (if you used the :paremter in
the LOV and bound it to the right field in the form) should come
up with the proper set of values Thanks Michael,
But my problem is not with that part of refreshing; that is
refreshing, when a value is picked from the first LOV to re-load
the second LOV works fine.
My problem is only when the value of the first LOV is internally
set, the form does not refresh to re-load the second LOV. The
value of the first LOV is loaded(internally) using one of the
fields in "wwsec_api.person_info", eventhough this value is set,
it does not trigger a refresh to re-load the dependent second
LOV.
I guess a solution to this problem would be to explicitly
refresh the form (I am not able to figure out how).
Hope I have clarified myself.
Thanks. -
Getting an error while cofiguring Oracle 11g Portal, Forms, reports
Hello All,
I installed the jrockit, weblogic server 10.3.5 and forms 11g 1.1.1.2 and ran the patchset for 11.1.1.3 and I was able to complete those without any problems.
After that I started configuring and creating the domain I encountered the error OPMN start process failed. I tried to resume but it again failed at OPMN restart process.
Ultimately the configuration of the forms failed only because of the above two failures.
I used the following path to configure (Start -> All Programs -> Oracle Classic 11g – Home1 -> Configure Classic Instance) which will invoke configuration wizard.
I think if I can fix the problem with OPMN, I can complete the configuration without problems.
Also I would like to know whether I can follow the steps mentioned in the link (http://www.bea-weblogic.com/how-to-delete-a-weblogic-server-wls-domain.html) to remove the domain
since configuration is already failed.
Could somebody help to resolve this issue.
Thanks in Advance
RamRam,
You didn't read the response in your other thread.

URGENT - Form with LOV - Query Fails
Hi All,
I've a portal form, with about 10 fields and about 06 of them are combo boxes (attached to dynamic LOVs).
I'm trying to perform a query using the ID and leaving all other fields blank, but no result is displayed. I am sure that the record for that ID exist in the database table.
Can someone please suggest what should I do to be able to perform query in form with LOVs.
Thanks in advance.Hi Jatinder
I'm happy because you are apparently on the right way with 'your duplicate form'!
"adjust the empty values" means to make sure, that the value of the simple empty field (in the duplicate form) is the same as the value of the corresponding LOV based combo box field (in the original form).
Maybe this sounds easy, but in the matter of fact it isn't. Why?
Look carefully at the following sample:
You have a dynamic LOV based on the number column 'category' in your 'table_1'.
So the basic part of the LOVs query looks like this:
select distinct category from table_1;
Now you still have to add the 'empty value' to your LOV to complete your request to find any value of 'category'. But if you add '0' or ' ' (blank) it wouldn't work. So you have to add NULL but this still doesn't work because you have to adjust NULL to the corresponding data type.
Furthermore you have to be sure that the default LOV's value is the 'any value' one.
Your complete LOVs query then looks like this:
select distinct category from table_1
union
select to_number(null) from dual
order by category desc;
/* 'desc' for 'descending' ensures the NULL value to be on the top of the combo box */
Now as you know how it works for number columns simply use the analog logic for character columns with to_char(null) and for date columns with to_date(null).
That's it.
Thanks

Install and config issues with Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer
For a while now I've been struggling with migrating a testing database to a newer version.
And right now I'm pretty much stuck at trying to configure Oracle Portal, Forms Reports and Discoverer
What I've got:
Windows server 2008 R2 64bit
Oracle 11g database
Java 6u27 64bit
JDK 1.6 64bit (using this after 1.7 ended up throwing out bugs while trying to start a weblogic server)
JDK 1.7 64bit
Weblogic 10.3.5 (or so i think - I've installed from the wls1035_generic.jar from the oracle website)
PFRD 11.1.1.2 with 11.1.1.3 installed over it, installed without config
and a hanging up configuration
Basically I've been trying to install PFRD (only forms, reports and enterprise manager from it actually) but it kept failing once it got to the configuration stage, so I installed without config, applied 11.1.1.3 and now trying to run the config manually with the good old \bin\config.bat
Result - the config froze for approx.18 hours then failed
There isn't much useful info I could deduct from the logs, mostly just says one or more configuration parts failed. At one place it mentions trying to set up a domain and starting up an adminserver for it - and apparently that's where it hangs up and finally times out and fails.
I'm a little clueless what to do about it as the logs don't say anything else of use I could understand. Any ideas there?Trying the step by step, the only difference between that and what i do seems to be the file copying (which I can't do - there is no windows\extra\ directory anywhere, the files mentionned seem to already be on their places and either only there, or exactly the same) and clistering
So far the news ain't good - the config process hangs on creating domain ->Step Creating Domain started
It isn't frozen per se - the process doesn't use up any processor time, memory consumption within bounds, it reacts to button clicks and all..it just doesn't do anything concerning the said domain
the last thing the .out file shows:

Enterprise portal integration with Oracle forms
Hi
Can anyone help me on this .
"Enterprise portal integration with Oracle forms".
I want to integrate oracle forms to EP .I am trying to work with app Integrator but I am not able to make any headway.Do you have any documents pertaining to this or any place where I can look for details.
Thanks
AlokHi,
i'm not aware of special integration feature with Oracle forms, but if as you said we are talking about a web application available via url then i see no problem doing so. the way you can implement the SSO is using something called Application Integrator which helps you build smart URL iView's that can use the portal framework (like systems, user profile , etc) , so you can build your oracle forms integration iView that will take the user password data from the portal (via system) using user mapping or sap logon tickets.
for more details on Application Integrator see
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/70/5a3842134bad04e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
regarding to the java applet, i don't really know what you mean by "jinitiator" but if your regular browser can do it then i see no reason for problems.
i hope it helps -
Integrating apex form with oracle portal
Afternoon friends,
I have got a senario like integrating apex form with oracle portal.I dont have any idea on oracle portals.so please let me know the basic steps on how to go ahead to integrate apex forms with oracle portal and for that what i need to have apart with my database and apex.Hello
Couldn't see my previous post... so here it is again
We have integrated Apex into Oracle Portal
Here's how we did it.
In the portal page, we have created an Element region with the following code:
<script language="Javascript">
<!--
function changeIframeHeight(){
var ifrmObj = document.getElementById('apexIframe');
if(ifrmObj) {
if(navigator.appName=='Microsoft Internet Explorer') { //IE
ifrmObj.height = ifrmObj.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+20;
else {
ifrmObj.style.height = ifrmObj.contentWindow.document.body.offsetHeight+50;
//-->
</script>
<p><iframe width="100%" height="500" frameborder="0" onload="javascript: changeIframeHeight();" src="/pls/apex/f?p=115:10" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" name="apexIframe" id="apexIframe"></iframe></p>You just have to make sure that the name and id of the iFrame and the elementId in the javascript are the same.
And change the SRC so that it point you application.
Hope that helped you.

Hello,
I am upgrading EBS 11i to 12i, Discoverer 4 to 11. After completing ebs installation and upgrade successfully, I am now working on the Oracle Fusion piece of the upgrade.
I have installed
1. JDK
2. Repository Creation Utility - RCU (schema)
3. Weblogic - WLS 10.3.6
4. Oracle Fusion - Discoverer 11g Release 1 Patchset 1 11.1.1.2.0 PFRD
5. Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g Patchset 11.1.1.6.0 - Patchset 13517084
6. Executed config.sh and it failed with but continued.
During the Configuration of Oracle Fusion with config.sh there was failure at with "fails at creating data sources" and accidentally proceeded and all seem to go well until after shutting down the servers when Weblogic Managed Server is unable to start.
The start log indicated: "weblogic.store.PersistentStoreFatalException: [Store:280105]The persistent file store "_WLS_WLS_DISCO" cannot open file _WLS_WLS_DISCO000000.DAT." and I have been unable to find a solution for this error?
See log file error at https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/15497130/oracle/ebs11/startManagedWebLogic.sh_nohup.out
If re-installation is my only option, then what are the steps to uninstall, and which components do I have to uninstall given that I had upgraded all the schemas involved?
MathiasHey,
You can always change the JDBC datasources in the Weblogic admin console . but have you recorded what is the specific error you got during the datasources creation .
I prefer...create a new user , give him sysdba privillages . Start RCU and create the DEV_DISCOVERER , DEV_DISCOVERER_PS schemas (prefix is your choice)
The Admin server will start . so go to admin console .
click services -> Data Sources
Check the data sources you have . edit each datasource and update the connection pool information .
after this you can start the Managed server WLS_DISCO
i believe this will solve this .........
if you still get issue again . you can try the link Using the WebLogic Persistent Store
Thanks
