How can I customize the whole oracle webcenter portal
We have a project that uses oracle webcenter portal. I want to customize it starting to its landing page til the content. I tried using extending webcenter spaces project but my build.xml has an error in clicking clean-stage. I followed the instructions correctly but still not working. I also tried following the tutorial about customizing at runtime, it works but its only for a specific tab. Is there any other way in customizing the product?
here is the error in build.xml:

HassanYou said, "...+I would like to install Release 2(11.1.1.2.0)+ ...". Be careful. 11.1.1.2.0 is not Release 2. The version for Rel 2 is 11.1.2.0, notice that there is one less "1". Also, there is no way to patch from Release 1 to Release 2.
In EDelivery, this is what you should find if you search on "Oracle Fusion Middleware" for "Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)":
First look for this link then drill into it:
Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Media Pack for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)
In this section you will find the following:
This is the full product installation of FMw 11 Release 2 (Forms & Reports)
Oracle Forms and Reports 11g R2 (11.1.2.0.0) for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) V28761-01
This is the full product installation of FMw 11 Release 1 (includes Portal, Forms, Reports, and Disco)
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 1 of 4) V18785-01

Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 4 of 4)
This is the FMw 11 Release 1 patch set that will bring the above 11.1.1.2.0 installation to 11.1.1.6. This is NOT a full product installation - just a patch
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g Patch Set 5 (11.1.1.6.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) V29850-01

URGENT - Oracle 9i, Oracle 9iAS, and Oracle 9iAS Portal Installation Problem
ERROR :
1. Objects with type JAVA CLASS with more than 30 characters are truncated to 30 characters
2. There are only 30 objects with type JAVA CLASS are installed (instead of 334) mentioned on the troubleshooting guide
3. Oracle9iASHttpService automatically stops after starting the service
Environment :
Windows 2000 Server
Oracle 9i 9.0.1.1.1
Oracle 9iAS 3.0.9.8.2 (Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2a)
PDK Services for Java version 3.0.9.0.4 (from Patch used to install 3.0.9.8.2)
Patches 8.1.7.1.1, 8.1.7.1.5, 3.0.9.8.2
I installed the Oracle 9i, 9iAS, Portal and the patches based on the installation instructions (http://portalstudio.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/OTN_CONTENT/DOCUMENTATION/INSTALL_GUIDE_9I.PDF)
I tried adding the Sample Web Provider I got ORA-29531 error on HttpProviderDispatcher. Then I checked the Patch 8.1.7.1.1 installation, they are some scripts that need to be run that was not part of the 9i/9iAS installation instruction. I run the suggested scripts(catalog.sql, catproc.sql and utlrp.sql) and modified the jserv.properties to point the xsqlconfig.xml to ORACLE_HOME\oracore\admin.
The error still persisted. From the Troubleshooting PDK Services for Java, one of the suggestion is to run the sql command :
Select object_name, object_type, status from user_objects where object_name like '%HttpProvider%';
which resulted to an object with name '/3334f18_HttpProviderDispatche' without the 'r' at the end
and
Select count(object_name) from user_objects where object_type='JAVA CLASS';
which resulted to only 30 VALID object. According to the installation instruction, there are supposedly 334 objects.
I checked the object_name of the other JAVA CLASS objects, all the names of the objects are all less than 30 characters. It looks like that the objects with the object_name > 30 are truncated to 30 characters.
Then I rebooted the machine, when the machine went back on Oracle9iASHttpService stops automatically after it has been started.I have posted question on that thread and there is no specific solution from our problem. From the Oracle PDK Troubleshooting PDK Services for Java, it looks like there is a problem on the Oracle Portal installation. I tried recompiling the packages and my problem worsened. Now I cannot start the Oracle9iAS HTTP Service.

Customization of ESS portal !
Hi Experts,
I am working on Customization of ESS portal.
We have jdk1.4.2_22 installed on server.
Using NWDS7.0 sp18 with jdk1.4.2_22 build fails below error:

Using NWDS7.0 sp18 with jdk1.5.0_18.
I am able to build and deploy application successfully . But getting Unsupported major.minor version 49.0 exception on the portal.
PFB Exception details.

From sdn came to know UnsupportedClassVersionError is generally for version mismatch. But with matching jdku2019s not able to build the application, to resolve that used the higher version of jdk.
Can anyone help me in solving this issue.
Thanks in advance. Any pointer related to this will be highly appreciated.
Edited by: Shrushti on Sep 25, 2009 8:20 PMHi All ,
Solution for the above problem is resolved by using higher verion jdk@NWDS side.
I am able build and deploy successfully by using JDK1.5.0_18.

Install Oracle 9iAS - Portal & infrastructure
Hi,
I installed Oracle 9iAS Infrastructure in c:\OraHome. When I try to install Oracle 9iAS - Portal and Wireless in the next step, it seems not possible to install this product in the same Oracle home (c:\OraHome). Will this cause problems later ? Where can I find information which explains the general concept of 'homes'. If the products are in different homes can Portal and SSO service still draw information from the same database ?
Kind regards,
Rene Heuven
PCA MobileOracle Application Server middle tiers (Portal for example) needs to exist in a separate Oracle Home from Identity Management or Metadata Repository. Please refer to the installation guide.

Where is the download for Oracle Weblogic Portal and current documentation?
The web page for Oracle Weblogic Portal has a download link, but nothing happens when I click it:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/weblogic-portal/downloads/index.html
I've downloaded the documentation
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/weblogic-portal/documentation/index.html
which is supposed to be for version 10.3, but the dates on the documents are all from 2008. I don't see anything indicating support for JSR 286 in those documents.
Are there more up-to-date documents for the latest version of Oracle WL Portal?
Thanks.
DeanHi Dean
Looks like that site is down. On Firefox, I checked in Error Console window and it shows some java script error like acceptAgreement is not found etc. This link did worked earlier. I hope they fix it asap. Same problem with IE browser also (java script error).
Coming to documentation, based on your link, I hope you are using 10.3.2 docs. I clicked on View Library and then select Portlet Development -> Java Portlets link and got this link: This link does cover JSR 286 stuff. For more indepth JSR 286, you can google and get more details.

Discoverer Portlet provider Register with Oracle AS Portal
Hi All,
I am trying to register the Discoverer portlet provider with Oracle AS Portal. I could able to launch the portal homepage successfully by giving the following url
http://<host.domain>:<port>/pls/portal
But, when I clicking the "login" to login it is giving me an error...
I also ensured that OssoIPCheck parameter to be off in mod_osso.conf file.
Please let me any configuration I need to do as part of this registeration. Thanks in advance.
Best Regards
VenkatHi Michael,
Thanks a lot for the prompt response. Actually we are going to provide an Oracle BI solution using OWB, Discoverer, Oracle 10g to one of our clients. And we personally feel that using Oracle 10g AS will prevent many unexpected problems in the application.
But the decision of choosing the portal tool is pending at the clients side and we need to help them out with the better options.
they are also looking for IBM websphere, and IBM has said that they have a portlet factory builder that helps portal to integrate with any other portlets.
Is it so that the ability to integrate any kind of portlet lies with the portal independent of the kind of portlet?
In our case... does it mean that IBM portal can integrate the discoverer portlet even if Discoverer does'nt provide for integration with non-Oracle portal? -
Problem with LDAP in BEA Portal
Problem with LDAP in BEA Portal
I have a list of 50 user which should be cerated in portal staging(devlopment) machine and should be transfered to
production machine using LDAP
Steps which i followed to create Users
1.Create User Profile with 2 parameters branch and Role
2.I have list user in the Xls file with Username, password ,branch and Role
3.Write a java File which will read the Xls File
4.The users are created in the staging machine for the portal
Steps which i followed in LDAP to tranfer the created User form Devlopment to Production
1.Export the created user from Devlopment (which was moved as .DAT in my local directory)
2.import the user from local direcory to production machine
The Users are imported in the production machine with username and password but the role and branch values are empty
We need a solution for importing the user with role and branch corresponding to each user.
Thanks in Adv
SureshIn Portal 8.1, user name and password in stored in LDAP where as user profile values are stored in database. That is the reason you are not able to see the user profile values.
Check once again whether you can see these values through admin tool. In case,it is not(after confirmation again),you might have to use APIs to do this for you incase you dont want to manage through Admin Tool.

I met problem when installing Oracle 8.1.6 on Turbo Linux 7.0

Help!I have done some oracle installations over RedHat 7.0 (not certificated):
Let's check some things:
1- You must have changed very few parameters on your shm.h sem.h files which are in /usr/include/linux directory.
2- You need to upgrade the glibc and libstdc libraries (.rpm)
3- You must have installed the jre116_v5 on /usr/jre and made a symbolic link like this
ln -s /usr/jre/jre116_v5 /usr/local/jre
4- You must include in the CLASSPATH parameter the jre116_v5 directory. It should look something like this
CLASSPATH=/usr/jre/jre116_v5:$ORACLE_HOME/jlib
5- Be sure to create and export all the parameters in your .bash_profile.
6- Run the ./runInstaller.sh in a terminal window inside the Xwindow.
You can find the jre116_v5 in www.backdown.org
I hope these tips help you

Probleme to install Oracle 8.1.7 on Mandrake 9.1
Hi,
I have some problem to install Oracle 8.1.7 on Mandrake 9.1.
I log on a non root user and launch "./runInstaller" but nothing happens. It's only written "please wait"...
I see on the Oracle site that I must use glibc 2.1 but only if Oracle is already installed? So if you could give me some indications?
Thanks.Hi,
I have also the same problem : when I launch the program "./runInstaller", nothing appears.
However, I thought I found a good solution on a forum, but it doesn't run.
The explication is given at the following address :
http://colalug.org/ml-archive/0210/msg00051.html
The only point where I'm not sure is when it's said to use a specific library in the "LINUX STUFF" section. They are using glibc2.1 and I'm using glibc2.3.
I have also changed the "ASSUME_KERNEL" variable to the version of my kernel, that's 2.4.21.
What are your suggestions ?
Thanks to give me an answer. -
Where to download and how to install Oracle AS Portal ?
Greetings,
I'm using portal servers from BEA, IBM and JBoss since several years. I bought a book on Oracle AS Portal which showed me a couple of interesting things I wanted to look at. Surprinsingly enough, this book doesn't start as normally, with how to download and install the product. This already seemd a little bit wear to me. But when I tried to find by myself the Oracle AS Portal bundle to download and install, I didn't find anything. Looking in the Oracle AS 10.1.3 documentation, it seems that Oracle AS Portal is not a part of it. I finally managed myself to find some documentation saying that in order to install the last version of Oracle AS Portal, one should install Orackle AS 10.1.2.0.2 and upgrade afterward to Orcale As Portal 10.1.4. Yes, but when I tried to install Oracle AS 10.1.2.0.2, I dind' find any option concerning the portal. There OC4J, ther is Infrastructure (identity management and other things), development kits but not portal.
So could someone explain what does this big mistery around Oracle As Portal mean exactly and how to download and install it quickly ?
Many thanks in advance.
NicolasFirst you would need to install the infrastructure which in itself should include the Identity Management and the metadata repository, which portal uses. Then after you're done with that, you can then start the installer again and choose to install the application server (the middle tier). When you're installing the Application Server, it asks for more options. You may choose just to install a J2EE server..in your case if you want portal choose the corresonding option that contains portal. If you're wanting to install Forms/Reports services, you'll need to select the corresponding option. Hopes this helps you get started.

Problem in installing Oracle 9i R2 on Windows 2003 Server Enterprise
We are having problem installing the Oracle 9i R2 Server on Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition. During installation, it generates error saying "The IP Address of the machine not found". When clicking the "Continue" button, it tries to install other things but few minutes later it asks to stop complete installation or installation of that feature.
But when we installed it on Windows XP it works fine and we have no problem in configuring it. What's the problem with Windows 2003 Server?
If we drop the idea of installing it on Windows 2003 Server, can we make Windows XP maching as a Server?ORACLE asumes that the first network device you have on your server has a fixed IP address.
Is this the case?
If not so you should install a loopback adapter as network device with a fixed IP.
Does this help?
