Oracle Concurrent Programs remains in Running Normal State for long time.

Hi All,
We have encountered an issue where Concurrent Programs remains in the state of Running Normal.
Importantly when we try to cancel those requests , it displays a pop-up message "*Could not lock request*".
Also, when we click on Diagnostics button; it says
*"Post-processing has completed for this request, but the manager has not yet marked it as Completed", the report is completing normal but the status is not marked as completed by manager."*
Please help me to find the root cause of this issue.
It happened twice in this week and we had to bounce the Database followed by the CMCLEAN.sql
Thanks in advance.

Avadhut

Is the issue with specific concurrent program?
Was this working before? What changes have been done recently?

i want to share with you strange thing happening on Exchange 2010 latest SP environment
A mailbox server crashed, and two of the databases on it came with (Mounting) state for a long time. Those databases have copies on another servers.
On the event viewer, i can see event ID 104 saying:

The database is in Mounting state for a long time, can anyone help?

i understand that your environment has DAG and you are not able to activate passive copy.
You would need to activate alternate database copy using Move-ActiveMailboxDatabase with additional parameters specified.
As the database is not able to query the contentIndexState it is stuck at mounting.
Below command should help you to get your DB activated on passive server even when the CI State is unknown.
    move-activemailboxdatabase -identity  DB1  -activateonserver site2mbx2
    -mountdialoverride:none -skip activationchecks -skiplagchecks -skipclientExperiencechecks
For more information refer to: http://blogs.technet.com/b/manjubn/archive/2011/05/11/exchange-2010-move-activemailboxdatabase-cmdlet-fails-to-mount-the-database-in-second-site-datacentre-activation-mode-off.aspx

  • Job is in scheduled state for longer time.

    Hi All,
I am running a load which involves extraction from source system. The load was taking longer than the usual time. I grew suspicious and checked the status of the job in the source system. But that was sitting in the scheduled state and when i try to change the job status , not able to do so. I checked the BGD processes availability and they were all in waiting status.
What can be done for this? Suggest ....

Hi..the issue you have is probably due to the fact that already a lot many jobs are running in background in your R/3 system and unless they finish you job will not get any background processes to get it to active state from the scheduled state.
Now thats why usually BW loading are done at night or off hours of business when transactions or r/3 jobs are not running much.
Schedule your job at a time when background processes are available then you won't face this issue.
Contact the basis handling the R/3 system.

  • ABAP process job ( BI_PROCESS_ABAP ) in process chain running for long time

    Dear Experts,
We have an ABAP process job  BI_PROCESS_ABAP  in a process chain. This job is running for a very long time than previous run time.
Recently we had an ORACLE database upgrade from 9.2 to 10g.
From the very next day , we are having this problem.
And also previously this process-chain was under control of BASIS guys . they were using a tool called CRONACLE to schedule it. At the time of upgrade this tool was crashed and they asked us to schedule it in BW system instead.
Underlying program is using two custom tables.
one is having both primary & secondary indexes but the other table is having only primary index.
I am not sure whether we have secondary indexes on other table prior to upgrade or not.
    Where must be the problem?...
At the time of upgrade BASIS has re-organized the table space along with database upgrade.
    please help me...
    Regards,
    SRIKANTH

Please ask yr basis consultant to check the system parms.
Below i have listed down SAP recommneded system parms .
    abap/heap_area_total 4000000000
    abap/heap_area_dia 2000000000
    abap/heap_area_nondia 2000000000
Also check in SM37 if any other jobs are running for long time, peventing the your job running.
Check the SM12 for locks or SM58

  • Report running for long time & performance tuning

    Hi All,
(1). WebI report is running for long time.so what are the steps i need to check for it ?
(2). Can you tell me about performance tuning in BO ?
    please help me.....
    Thanks
    Kumar

(1). WebI report is running for long time.so what are the steps i need to check for it ?
The first step is to see if the problem lies in the query on the data source or in webi itself. Depending on the data source there are different ways to extract the query and try to run it against the database. Which source does your report uses?
(2). Can you tell me about performance tuning in BO ?
I would recommend to start by reading the administrator's guide. There is a section about how to improve performance.

  • SELECT statement takes long time

    Hi All,
In the following code, if the T_QMIH-EQUNR contains blank or space values ,SELECT statement takes longer time to acess the data from OBJK table. If it T_QMIH-EQUNR contains values other than blank, performance is good and it fetches data very fast.
Already we have indexes for EQUNR in OBJK table.
Only for blank entries , it takes much time. Can anybody tell why it behaves for balnk entries?
    if not T_QMIH[] IS INITIAL.
            SORT T_QMIH BY EQUNR.
            REFRESH T_OBJK.
            SELECT EQUNR OBKNR
              FROM OBJK INTO TABLE T_OBJK
              FOR ALL ENTRIES IN T_QMIH
              WHERE OBJK~TASER = 'SER01' AND
             OBJK~EQUNR = T_QMIH-EQUNR.
    Thanks
    Ajay

    Hi
You can use the field QMIH-QMNUM with OBJK-IHNUM
in QMIH table, EQUNR is not primary key, it will have multiple entries
so to improve the performance use one dummy internal table for QMIH  and sort it on EQUNR
delete adjacent duplicates from d_qmih and use the same in for all entries
    this will improve the performance.
Also use the fields in sequence of the index and primary keys also in select
    if not T_QMIH[] IS INITIAL.
    SORT T_QMIH BY EQUNR.
    REFRESH T_OBJK.
    SELECT EQUNR OBKNR
    FROM OBJK INTO TABLE T_OBJK
    FOR ALL ENTRIES IN T_QMIH
    WHERE  IHNUM =  T_QMIH-QMNUM
    OBJK~TASER = 'SER01' AND
    OBJK~EQUNR = T_QMIH-EQUNR.
try this and let me know
    regards

  • Will SAP remain as market leader for long time?

    Hi
I have just started  Masters of Business ERP SAP at victoria University. But  my background is
accounting and have intermediate knowledge of software industry . From my understanding
there is always something new replacing existing market in software industry. I just want to
know about the sustainability of  SAP career . will it sustain in the market for long time?
    Regards
    Shafiq

Hello, I can assure you that you will not suffer from hunger or anything like that... there are thousands of companies running SAP accross the globe. And if, and that will not happen, somebody would threaten SAP, understand how much money depends on SAP systems. It would take years to get rid of the vendor (SAP) lock-in for all those companies.
Ok, that was the practical approach. On the other hand I do believe in quality and sustainability of what we do here and feel no fear about my future. Even if some kind of a problem appear, SAP would teach you so much about business processes and how companies are runned, that you could immediately switch to some kind of management/ analyst job. t least that is how I feel about it.
Hope that helps a little, I wanted to offer something in return for your answer to my question earlier,
maybe you would like to talk some more one day?
    Cheers Otto

  • Oracle Concurrent Program Output

I was tried to output concurrent report into HTMlL format, but it adds the tage <font="symbol">Field</font="symbol> between my data. So the output become some weird character.
    Does anyone experience similar problem?
    Thanks

Basically, i create the rdf report with the following parameters:
    width : 30
    height: 8.5
    report width: 180
    report height: 66
    and in the concurrent program
    column: 180
    row: 66
    orientation: landwide
when i set the output of concurrent program to text, it squeeze the text together. And when i set the output HTML, it displays all the column properly, but change the font to symbol.

  • DELETE Statement takes long time running

    Hi,
DELETE statements take a very long time to complete.
Can you advice me how can I diagnostic the slow performance
    Thanks

Deleting rows can be an expensive operation.
Oracle stores entire row as the 'before image' of deleted information (table and index data) in
rollback segments, generates redo (keeps archiver busy), updates free lists for blocks that are
    falling below PCTUSED setting etc..
Select count(*) runs longer because oracle scans all blocks (upto the High Water Mark) whether
there are or are not any rows in the blocks.
These operations will take more and more time, if the tables are loaded with APPEND hint or
    SQL*Loader using direct mode.
A long time ago, I ran into a similar situation. Data was "deleted" selectively, SQL*Loader was
used (in DIRECT mode) to add new rows to the table. I had a few tables using more number of blocks
than the number of rows in the table!
Needless to say, the process was changed to truncate tables after exporting/extracting required
data first, and then loading the data back. Worked much better.

  • Run multiple statement at a time in a procedure without scheduler

    Dear,
I create a procedure that have many select,
insert, update statement. How can I execute all the
sql statement at a time without using scheduler.
    create procedure p is
    e number;
    n varchar2(10);
    begin
    select 1000,'MWZ' into e,n from dual ;
    insert into emp(empno,ename) values (e,n);
    select 7788,'Scotty' into e,n from dual;
    update emp set ename=n where empno=e;
    end;
/There I can do many select, insert and update at a time
create or replace procedure p is
    begin
         merge into emp using (
           select 1000 e,'MWZ' n from dual
           union all
           select 7788,'Scotty' from dual
         ) on (empno=e)
         when matched then
           update set ename=n
         when not matched then
           insert (empno,ename) values (e,n);
    end;
/But again, why do not you want to use dbms_job? You could maybe do this in java

    Thanks,
    Shambo

    Hi Shambo
have you checked the oracle parameters as per the sap note 830576,and also the backup which you have taken is a logical backup,in that case you have to run the update database statistics either from DB13 or BRTOOLS
also check ST04 and also ST02 to do a  performance tuning
I believe its more Database Parameter issue

  • ECC6 upgrade phase XPRAS_UPG running for long time

    Hi,
    I am performing a Downtime minimized upgrade (MODPROF_TRANS) from R34.7ext2 to ECC6.0 / Windows2003/MSSQL2005
Currently i am in the phase XPRAS_UPG .It is running for really long time.I tried to reset the phase but still went on for more than 10 hrs. I initialized the phase now its running for more than 7 hours. There are no processes when i check in SM50 and no log files updated. There is no log file called XPRAS_UPG.ELG.SM37 no jobs running.
Though if it takes long time , How do i confirm that my upgrade phase is running ??????????as its not updating anything
In PARDIST_SHD phase when there was en error , i have manuall deleted the DB trigger acording to the note 956198. And the phase went on.
Now after reading few messages reg this error , i checked DB02 but no locks on any table . Have cheked note 558197,1292069,1142410,1138351,1062559,597885,551298. But nothings applicable in my case.
    Please suggest ...
    will really appreciate your help.
    Chandra

    Dear Chandra,
Regarding long runtime for XPRAS phase kindly note the following:
    1. The reason of slow performance of XPRAS phase can vary differently.
Basically during XPRAS phase, there're a lot of reports to run. These
reports are inlcuded in the transport requests(both upgrade
requests and support packages). If there's a performance problem,
it very likely the database performance problem, such as wrong
access plan was chosen, or missing index, etc.
    2. To find out the performance problems in the XPRAS, you can always
logon into the system. During the XPRAS phase, the system has to be up and running.
In SM50, usually you can find which report is running, and/or which table is being accessed.
If you find some table accesses take unusually long time, please
record the table name and find the SQL statement. Sometimes a simple
index can solve the problem, sometimes you need help from Oracle
    to get the solution.
    3. If you want to shorten the downtime, you can select less support
packages since all SPs have a lot of reports to run in XPRAS. But
remember you need to import them soon or later. But if you prefer
    import them later it's fine.
Currently if you check in SM37 then you can see RDDEXECL job in active status.
Check for the job log, if there are any errors reported?
Thereafter check the SM50 and see if its taking unusually long time for some particular table.
If so then it might be because you might have not updated the statistics for that particular table.
Also check what was the parameter value of Number of batch processes defined by you
for upgrade. If you have defined very less number of batch processes for upgrade then also
    it will take more time.
Check accordingly and let me know for further help.
    Regards,
    Abhishek

It's usually helpful to check the documentation:
    [http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/lang/Thread.html#start()|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/lang/Thread.html#start()]
    start
public void start()Causes this thread to begin execution; the Java Virtual Machine calls the run method of this thread.
The result is that two threads are running concurrently: the current thread (which returns from the call to the start method) and the other thread (which executes its run method).
It is never legal to start a thread more than once. In particular, a thread may not be restarted once it has completed execution.
    So, make a new java.lang.Thread
