Hello,
What is MOS?
MOS stand for My Oracle Support (formelly called Metalink). You'll find below their link:
https://support.oracle.com/
You'll need the Customer Support Identifier ( CSI ) to get an account.
As soon as, you can logon to MOS, then open a Service Request and send them the Alert log, trace file, ... and if possible an Incident Package so that they can diagnose the error you got.
As you are in 11.1 you can generate an Incident Package with the help of the Automatic Diagnostic Repository ( ADR ). You may follow the procedure below to create the Incident Package and manage the call with MOS:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e17120/diag002.htm#CHDJDBCH
Hope this help.
Best regards,
Jean-Valentin

  • Oracle database down need help

    My company is using a program called Digital Collections (DC4) from GMTI. We have an oracle database on the backend. Recently the server's raid array fan went out and we lost all 5 drives. We were able to recover some of the lost data from backup tapes but we can't seem to locate the oracle 8.0.5 install CD's. Now, I can only download 9i which as I understand will not access oracle 8 files. All the migration howto's start by dumping the data from oracle 8 and then importing to 9i. But if I don't have 8 running how can I dump the data? Does anyone know of a solution. Either a method or utility to dump the data from the raw files or a link to download 8.0.5 Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    You can't attach oracle 8 version datafiles to 9i database or vice-versa. It was DBA's responsibility to keep the backups in case of disaster occurs at any time.
    Check with your friends about the availability of oracle 8, you will get it, if you are lucky enough.

  • Location of oracle database crash date time

    Hi,
    After system crash happens and oracle database is recovered from system crash where can i find the entry in oracle which shows the time of system crash?
    I tried the following to get the system crash date and time:
    When i start auditing a user by logon and the user is logged on to system oracle creates an entry in dba_audit_session table for user logontime in TIMESTAMP column, but if the system crashes in between when the user is logged in to the system then no entry is made in LOGOFF_TIME column of dba_audit_session table.
    in followin example orcl user is being audited by logon.
    orcl logsin the system at time 11:36 am and my system crashes.
    when orcl logsin again after instance recovery logoff_time is blank, and shows a new entry of orcl.
    SQL > select username,to_char(timestamp,'dd-mm-yyyy hh:mi:ss'),to_char(logoff_time,'dd-mm-yyyy hh:mi:ss') from dba_audit_session where username like 'TMS' order by timestamp;
    USERNAME TO_CHAR(TIMESTAMP,' TO_CHAR(LOGOFF_TIME
    ORCL 16-10-2012 11:36:16
    ORCL 16-10-2012 11:46:33
    My aim is to get the date & time of database crash.

    Hi;
    As mention here the only way to check alert.log, If Asm avaliable you need also check asmlog and related log files.
    If you have OSwatcher on your system you can also check what process or wha happend on your server too
    PS:Please dont forget to change thread status to answered if it possible when u belive your thread has been answered, it pretend to lose time of other forums user while they are searching open question which is not answered,thanks for understanding

  • Oracle SQL Newbie need help with OE Demo Schema Installation

    Hello everybody !
    I'm hoping some kind soul can help out this SQL newbie.
    First of all i've installed 10g R2 database on a PC running XP SP2.
    Oracle is installed on the root C: drive
    I'm using the SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide and DBA Handbook (Both Oracle Press)
    as my reference.
    My problem is this.
    I installed the DB and created the demo HR schema without too much problem
    but it's the demo OE schema i'm having problems getting running and cannot
    find anywhere on the net that outlines a step by step SQL process.
    I am using SQL Plus to execute these commands.
    My questions are these:
    -For the default tablespace i specify "users" ?
    -What do i specify for the temporary tablespace ? "temp" ?
    -what directory path do i put for the data files as parameter 6 ?
    I put down "C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\demo\schema\order_entry" but i suspect it's
    the wrong thing ?
    -What do i specify for the writable directory path for the log files ?
    Is it C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\RDBMS\log
    -And what is "Specify version as parameter 8:" line ?
    I assumed it was the db version but i believe it's wrong.
    Could somebody please help me ? I've already done my CCNA and i wanted to add oracle under my belt.
    I know if i had these few things cleared up for me it would pave the way to actually enjoying learning Oracle :)
    Thank you for any assistance :)

    I installed the DB products from the companion disk and there was no specific mention of the demo schemas. Regardless... They're all there within the demo subfolder and have already created the hr schema.. I just need somebody (I'll pay if necessary) to PLEASE just answer (what would be easy to you guys my questions so i can move on.

    Dear all,
    One of my oracle databases is crashing with a word being written to the alert.log. What I see in the log is a log switch information. Is there a way of enhancing log information. (something similar to 10046 trace with different trace levels 4,8,12)

    After starting the Windows service for database, when I try to start Oracle, it comes out saying "End of file communication". I have to restart the server to get rid of this.And you call it Oracle crashes?
    Something wrong in your environment.
    Pls, check for Event log for any related error messages.

  • Front End to Oracle Database - Advice Needed

    Hi
    My company has recently purchased an Oracle Database. Are there any advantages in creating the front end in Oracle as opposed to writing the front end in Java.
    I am interested to know if one method is preferred over the other. I was planning on writing it entirely in Java.
    Any help or advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Steps if Oracle Database Crashed

    Hi All,
    Can someone write me sequence of steps if Oracle database get crashed. Just steps and not the detail.
    Thanks
    Praveen

    First try 'recover database' command in sys login
    If it fails,
    1. See for the alert.log for exact error if any
    2. if a control file is corrupted, create new control file
    If there is hard-drive problem, bad sector etc then no chance ! Have to format or change hard drive and re-install oracle.

    We set up a new oragle 10 g1 database, and followed the instructions

    configured and ran the inventory service on Netware, and on SuSE linux.

  • Oracle XE 10g database offline need help getting it back in 11g EE

    Our server crashed...completely crashed...lightning took it clean out. It was older hardware running server 2003, oracle xe 10g, so we replaced it with a newer better server running 2008r2 (64bit I might add).
    I need to bring the old database, tablespaces and datafiles back online with the new server and the new instance of Oracle.
    I have sucessfully installed oracle 11g EE and can create new a new database (all is online with this), but I need my old data back for PCM 13.1. I cannot find any good online documentation regarding this issue, and we are down until its corrected. Obviously just copying the data over isnt going to work, so any help is much appreciated.
    I have good copies of the old hard drives with the folder structures intact, but there is no chance of getting the old OS back online without purchasing old matching hardware and just slamming the drives into it.
    Basically how do I get the new instance of Oracle to open and run my older database...how do I restore it?

    I did it...yay! Here's what I did...I installed a fresh copy of oracle 10g xe in my virtual xp mode. Stopped the database after installation...deleted and replaced the oradata and fast_recovery_area folders with my old data. Started the database and everything worked so far. In the server with 2008 r2 I installed 11g xe, same system password. I then installed SQL Developer on both computers (easier for me than typing out the scripts). In the XP mode 10g xe computer I did a FULL data pump export to a dump directory. I then moved the dump file to the new server and ran a data pump import, appending data if existing. First time, failed....checked the log and obviously I missed the fact the folder structure MUST be the same for the datafiles or I would have to remap (too much work). The default oradata folder is different in 10g than 11g. I created the oradata folder in 11g xe in the same location as 10g would put it and ran the import script again. BAM, it worked this time...I have my data back in 11g xe and my software was able to find it like it should. Thank you for your consideration and help...hope this helps someone else down the road.

  • App Server crashes - need help

    We have the problem that our App Server crashes under different conditions. Our application is a Web App with many Session and Entity EJBs. We using Oracle 8.1.6 as DB.
    The following code Fragment causes the Error:
    // Parameter colProjects is an Collection of Strings with primary keys
    public java.util.Collection getResult(java.util.Collection colProjects) {
    java.util.Vector result = new Vector();
    try{
    LocalProjectHome home; // Home Interface of an Entity Bean
    ServiceLocator sl = new ServiceLocator(); // Service Locator Pattern; not implemented as Singleton, no Caching!
    home = (LocalProjectHome)sl.getLocalHome(JNDIName.Bean.Project);
    // and iterate through the result project-id's
    LocalProject p;
    java.util.Iterator itProjects = colProjects.iterator();
    while( itProjects.hasNext()){
    p = home.findByPrimaryKey( (String)itProjects.next() );
              // Read Information from p and write it to vektor result
    catch(Exception e){
              // Error Logging Functions here
    return result;
    This funktion works fine until the number of entity beans exceeds a size over 400. if we reach a higher number of beans the Server crashes without any exception most of the time. Sometimes we got an Exeption like "OraclePrepareStmt - class not found Exception".
    This Crash occurs only when we start the App Server Instance in Release Mode. When we start int in debug mode it works fine. We can reproduce this behavior on Solaris and Windows Versions of the App Server.
    Any ideas where we can look to solve this problem? Or if you need more information about our configuration, plz post here.

    Hi again,
    If you're using the function GUI_DOWNLOAD because its on the presentation layer, then use the function as follows to create it tab delimited. Notice the bold parameter
        CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_DOWNLOAD'
             EXPORTING
                  filename                = file
                  has_field_separator     = 'X'  "file is TAB delimited
             TABLES
                  data_tab                = itab_result
             EXCEPTIONS
                  file_open_error         = 1
                  file_read_error         = 2
                  no_batch                = 3
                  gui_refuse_filetransfer = 4
                  invalid_type            = 5
                  no_authority            = 6
                  unknown_error           = 7
                  bad_data_format         = 8
                  header_not_allowed      = 9
                  separator_not_allowed   = 10
                  header_too_long         = 11

                  disk_full               = 15
                  dp_timeout              = 16

    Hope it helps.
