Oracle database installation with OLAP

Hi Folks
I have a serious problem with my database server datawarehouse with OLAP option (RHAS 4 and Oracle DB10g R2), after I implement an application with OLAP I can't export a full database this process hangup in:
Processing object type DATABASE_EXPORT/SCHEMA/TABLE/POST_INSTANCE/PROCDEPOBJ
Processing object type DATABASE_EXPORT/SCHEMA/POST_SCHEMA/PROCOBJ
and when try to export the user OLAP owner the process hangup in
Processing object type SCHEMA_EXPORT/MATERIALIZED_VIEW
Processing object type SCHEMA_EXPORT/DIMENSION
and the server shutdown with the follow message in the file (/var/log/message)

Please anybody to know some issue like this or there are some trick for the installation because this is the second installation (in other box) and the server falls in any time.
Very thansk and regards,

I've also had a problem where the system will not do a full export of an AW as an eif file. It starts, then just hangs. If you try to import the file that is created you get some but not all of the objects in the original AW and an error message at the end. I have cycled through the NAME dimension exporting objects one at a time and discovered an object where it hangs and can't get past. It's not large and it's one of the objects with the property 'AW$CREATEDBY' = 'AW$XML'. So seems to be an Oracle bug, maybe some metadata got messed up, who knows, but it should always be possible to export an AW.

    Hi,
All databases created by the Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA) include the SYS, SYSTEM, SYSMAN, and DBSNMP database accounts. In addition, Oracle provides several other administrative accounts. Before using these other accounts, you must unlock them and reset their passwords.

  • What's wrong with my Oracle Database Installation?

    Hi,
I'm trying to install Oracle Database 11gR2 on a newly-created Oracle Linux 5.7 64-bit system. There's 25GB of available harddrive space and about 1700MB free RAM.
I followed everything in this guide:
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/11g/OracleDB11gR2InstallationOnEnterpriseLinux5.php
To begin my installation, I log into user "oracle" and do the following:
         1) Unzip linux.x64_11gR2_database_1of2.zip and linux.x64_11gR2_database_2of2.zip to create the directory /home/oracle/database
         2) Set up my response file (a copy can be found at http://x.petio.org/2011/11/30/db.rsp)
         3) Run the installer:
              /home/oracle/database/runInstaller –silent –responseFile /path/to/db.rsp
    The result is:
[FATAL] [INS-32038] The operating system group specified for central inventory (oraInventory) ownership is invalid.
CAUSE: User performing installation is not a member of the operating system group specified for central inventory(oraInventory) ownership.
ACTION: Specify an operating system group that the installing user is a member of. All the members of this operating system group will have write permission to the central inventory directory (oraInventory).
Could someone please tell me what this error means, and what I'm doing wrong? The group for oraInventory is "oinstall" and user "oracle" (the user doing the installation) is certainly a member of that group. When I run "id" I get the following: "uid=502(oracle) gid=505(oinstall) groups=503(dba),504(asmadmin),505(oinstall),506(oper)"
    Here's the log files:
         http://x.petio.org/2011/11/30/installActions2011-11-30_09-19-27AM.log

    Hi;

  • ORACLE 8i INSTALLER WITH P4 ISSUES AND TNS ERROR WITH 9i

I want to thank those that have been of help on this subject matter. Finally after 2 agonised weeks, I was able to get around the Oracle 8i installer not able to run on my Pentium 4 laptop. Also having problem logging in to 9i SQL*PLUS. I just want to reinstate that by renaming the file symcjit.dll to symcjit.old does not work automatically. I tried it on Oracle 8.1.6 and 8.1.7(Enterprise/Standard/Personal) many times. Although it did work with Oracle Personal 8.1.6 at one point in time after the system has already 9i installed. After uninstalling the 9i, the installer stopped working again. I WAS NOT SURE IF ORACLE HAS THIS ORACLE 9i DATABASE ENTERPRISE/STANDARD/PERSONAL FOR WINDOWS NT/2000/XP ON CD. THE ONE I BOUGHT IS THE 9IAS AND 9IDS (2 Boxes) WHICH WILL NOT CONFIGURE YOUR DATABASE FOR YOU.
When I was about to give up after doing some more research, then I saw the download for "Oracle9i Database Enterprise/Standard/Personal Edition for Windows NT/2000/XP". I followed the exact direction, but did everything in my directory and not DOS since I don't know the command for unzipping files in DOS. By unzipping all the files in their respective folders Disk1/Disk2/Disk3, and going to install/win32/setup.exe, the rest of the installation went smoothly, when the system prompt for the location of the next disk, just type 2 and then 3. The installation configured everything like tnsnmaes, instances, databases e.t.c. All I did was suppied the password for Sys and System.
By downloading this particular file, I was able to bypass any configuration which is a pain, but not for you DBA guys out there. THE DOCUMENTATION FOR THESE CD,s DID NOT GIVE EXACT STEP BY STEP FOR CONFIGURATION, ONLY INSTALLATION. I AM A DEVELOPER AND NOT A DBA. Orale 8i is more easy to confugure than 9i. I WAS ALSO ABLE TO INSTALL 6i, 9ids AND SQL NAVIGATOR ON TOP OF THIS 9i, AND ALL CONNECTIONS WORKED PERFECTLY BY USING SYS OR SYSTEM AND THE PASSWORD I SUPPLIED DURING INSTALLATION.
AGAIN THANKS TO EVERYBODY USING THIS FORUM. YOU GUYS ARE GREAT AND DOING A GOOD JOB HELPING OUT OTHERS. LET'S KEEP IT ROLLING!!!

O yea, I used WinZip 8.1 and it created correct directory stucture - that's the whole problem

  • Default port of Oracle 9i Database --- Oracle database installation

    Hi,
I am new to oracle..searched across internet to know this particular detail of Oracle 9i database installation.
My query being..Can Oracle database be installed in a way to use port's other than 1521. When do we go for making use of a port other than 1521. What are the risk's and benifit's.
How to make use of a port other than 1521 while making use of OUI(oracle universal installer) to install a 9i database on windows OS.
Can someone provide an answer to my queries/ some link where I can find the answer.
    Thanks,
    R S

you have to change the port no in listener.ora file which exists on Oracle_home/network/admin/listener.ora like
    LISTENER =
      (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
        (DESCRIPTION =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
        (DESCRIPTION =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Griat-xp.bebo.tech.com)(PORT = 1521))
      )from this to
    LISTENER =
      (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
        (DESCRIPTION =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
        (DESCRIPTION =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Griat-xp.bebo.tech.com)(PORT = 1522))
)afterwords you have to reload the listener by using lsnrctl on command prompt
in this way you can change the default port of Oracle

  • How to get start to develop Oracle database applications with NetBeans?

    Dear Ladies and gentlemen,
I am new to NetBeans. And I know nothing about Oracle. I have installed the
NetBeans 6.8, and I want to learn Oracle database application development
with NetBeans. I don't know how to get start. Give me some suggestions,
    please. Thank you very much.

  • Can oracle database interact with sysbase database in real-time?

There are two database, one is oracle, one is sysbase, sysbase is produce database. My program only can visit oracle database, and can't directly visit sysbase database. My question is whether there is a directly link from oracle database to sysbase database, when I visit oracle, oracle database can interact with sysbase database through this link real time? How to realize above function? Please give plan for it.
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,
    Edward

Yes there is. You have to create heterogeneous connection between these two databases
Take a look at below links:

  • Oracle Database installation on mac os 10.5

    Hi.,
I have installed oracle database 10.2 on mac os 10.5. It is installed successfuly but when i typed sqlplus in terminal to login into oracle. it show dyld library loaded, , reason : image not found but I have already set librabry path as .
    export ORACLE_HOME=/Users/oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1
    export DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib
What can be the possible reason for this message ??
    Can any one suggest ??
    Regards.
    shyam

Oracle database is currently supported only on Mac Power PC platforms and the highest possible opsystem is Tiger not Leopard as in Your case. And only 10gR1.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/support/metalink/index.html
And error message should be longer, with concrete library name.
    Try to do following
    cd /
    find . -name "name_of_the_library.dylib"
And then adjust DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH to meet the path/

  • Oracle database integration with SAP PI for high volume & Complex Structure

    Hi
We have requirement for integrating oracle database to SAP PI 7.0 for sending data which is eventually transferred to multiple receivers. The involved data structure is hugely complex (around 18 child tables) with high volume processing requirement (100K+ objects need to be processed in 6-7 hours). We need to implement logic for prioritizing the object i.e. high priority objects must be processed first and then objects with normal priority.
We could think of implementing this kind of logic in database procedures (at least it provides flexibility for implementing data selection logic as well as processed data can be marked as success in the same SP) but since PI sender adapter doesn't support calling Oracle stored procedures currently so this option is rules out. we can try implementing complex data selection using oracle table function but table function doesn't allow any SQL query which changes data (UPDATE, INSERT, DELETE etc) so it is impossible to mark selected objects in table function from PI communication channel "Update Query" option.
Also, we need to make sure that we are not processing all the objects at once as message size for 20 objects can vary from 100 KB to 15 MB which could really lead to serious performance issues for bigger messages.
Please share any implementation experience for handling issues:
1 - Database Integration involving Oracle at sender side
    2 - Complex Data structures
    3 - High Volume Processing
4 - Controlled data selection from database to contro the message size in PI
    Thanks,
    Panchdev

    Hi,
We can call the stored procedure using receiver adapter using ccBPM, we can follow different approaches for reading the data in this case.
    a) In this  a ccBPM instance needs to be triggered using some dummy message, after receiving this message the ccBPM can make  a sync call to the Oracle database the store procedure(this can be done using the specific receiver data type strucure), on getting the response message the ccBPM  can then proceed with the further steps. The stored procedure needs to be optimized for improving the performance as the mapping complexity will largely get affected by the structure in which the stored procedure returns the message.Prioritization of the objects can be handled in the stored procedure.
    b) In this a ccBPM instance can first read data from the header level table, then it can make subsequent sync calls to Oracle tables for reading data from the child tables. This approach is less suitable for this interface as the number child tables is big.

  • Oracle Database Diconnection with VC Application

    Hi,
We are facing a major issue in our application such as the Application shows customized error as "Connection to the database server is disconnected" and terminates the application abruptly. The error pops up sometimes immediately after opening the application or after a period of time.
I cannot able to figure out how the error is coming. Application is not generating any logs.
The application is built on VC and it has two tier architecture. Application uses the Oracle tnsnames and ODBC Connection to connect to the Oracle Database.
I had done some basic analysis for network availability such as i opened the Oracle Sql*plus and our application simultaneously on the client machine (Windows XP). But application was disconnected with the above mentioned error and sql*plus working normal.
I have also done by switching on connection trace in the sqlnet.ora file. But I can't able to understand the trace file as it has no "null" named entries for connection values.
Whenever the Application is closed abnormally its leaving the ACTIVE session as INACTIVE. Then, I'm killing the oracle sessions manually using ORAKILL.
Please provide some pointers like how would I log the exception information if any exception is raised in oracle database. Depending on that log information i like to back track the issue.
    Oracle Database Environment Details*
    OS : Windows 2000 Server (SP4)
Oracle Database : Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition (8.1.7)
Please revert in case of any further information is required.

    @SomeoneElse
Its happening from the beginning say two or three times a day. But from last two months the problem is very often (once per 15mins). User can't able to work on the application.
