Oracle default users - 11i

Can anyone tell me if these default oracle users impact the apps?
OUTLN, MDSYS, CTXSYS, ORDSYS, ORDPLUGINS
I want to change the passwords and disable them. I don't see any of them as registered apps.
TIA

You can change the passwords for these default users. That should keep your auditors pleased :)

  • What is the default user name and password for oracle databse 10g

    Hi: gurus, I just recently installed the oracle 10g personal edition and trying to log on to the enterprise manger, but can't figure it out the user name and password, can some one help me and tell me what is the default user name and password to logon to the oracle instance. BTW during the installation I choose two passowrds one for the schema and one for the global database orcl. I wonder will I be using one of these passwords. Still I don't have any clue for the "User Name".
    thanks

    system/manager and sys/change_on_install are still valid default passwords when database is manually created. If DBCA was used, passwords will be those defined at creation time inside DBCA.
    In case passwords have been forgotten, those can be reset:
    From an OS commnad prompt, set ORACLE_SID, ORACLE_HOME and PATH environment variables, just to make sure you are pointing to the right Oracle Home installation, and issue:
    OS> sqlplus / as sysdba
    SQL> alter user sys identified by yourNewSysPassword;
    SQL> alter user system identified by yourNewSystemPassword;
    And you're done with it.

  • Unused service in Solaris 10 and default user in Oracle 10

    Hi,
               Our SAP system (ERP6 EHP4) were installed on Solaris 10 and Oracle 10
               Questions are:
               - Which ports of /etc/services on Solaris 10 can disable without affect with SAP?
               - Which default users in Oracle 10 can lock or disable (or change password)?
               Ps. For Auditing purpose and security hardening in SAP ERP6 EHP4.
    Best regards,
    Choosak B.

    HI,
    For port information use this guide
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/4e515a43-0e01-0010-2da1-9bcc452c280b?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true
    Regarding change in password of oracle users you can change all passwords using BRTOOLS.
    Any how SAP only use OS level authntication and SAP<SID> user .
    But still you should not lock any user but change in password is supported for all users.(Use brtools to perform same)

  • SC3.2/oracle service; adding a 2nd db instance with non default user

    Hi, I have a 3.2 Cluster configuration with oracle 9i working, now I want to add a 2nd instance to the cluster but I need to create a new resource group, because I'm using a different OS user and pass for this database I would like to know if I need to specify the OS user and password for the oracle server resource, so cluster can start the rs with the appropriate user for this new database.
    Filesystems and oracle sfw are in different directories/volumes, os user owns the fs and the db can start outside the cluster without problems, next step is to add everything into the cluster.
    I only found a user_env attribute at the moment of the creation of the resource, but it doesn't look like the option that I need.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Do you mean a separate database (instance) rather than a 2nd instance, which might suggest a RAC deployment?
    If so, when you build the database you will need to follow the same procedure as in the manual. The database will have a monitoring user configured and this information is supplied in the Oracle resource properties. If the database runs from a different Oracle home, then the new Oracle (Solaris) user will be picked up from the uid of the oracle binary.

    Tim

  • Installation of Oracle EBusiness Suite 11i Release 10.2 on Red Hat Linux

    Hello there,
    It would be great if someone can help me with these questions
    1. Which version of Red Hat Linux is suitable for installation of Oracle EBusiness Suite 11i Release 10.2.
    2. I am downloading the EBS files from eDelivery site on my machine (Windows based). These are Zip files. How would these be usable on Linux machine?
    3. Do I need stuff like MKS Toolkit on Linux? We tried installing on Windows 2003 server but had to abandon because we don't have MKS Toolkit. Is there some such pre-requisite on Linux?
    Thank you.
    Rahul

    Copy all zip files to say /data/stage11i then unzip all files (as root) the process will create the correct file structure, you do not need to run adautostge.pl then in a terminal screen go to /data/stage11i/Disk1/rapidwiz and then type ./rapidwiz the installation wizard then guides you through the rest of the way. Run raoidwiz as root if you need multi user or for the demo single user run rapidwiz as oracle. Make sure you have created user and group for oracle and applmgr, also make those changes in the wizard it often defaults to say user oravis group dba. In linux you should have created localhost.localdomain sometimes the eth0 does not start, stop it in the device manager and then reactivate. Hope that helps.

  • What is the Diffrence between Oracle 11 and 11i

    What is the Diffrence between Oracle 11 and Oracle11i ?.
    With Rgds
    Arun J.Isaac

    Oracle 11i is internet based and run with java platform where we can see the applets downloading alongwith oracle forms and it refreshes all the jar files in oracle default directory.
    Oracle 11 is not intergrated with Java its an Oracle standalone platform.

  • TIP 01: Default User Tablespace in 10g by Joel Pèrez

    Hi OTN Readers!
    Everyday I get connection on Internet and one of the first issues that
    I do is to open the OTN main page to look for any new article or any
    new news about the Oracle Technology. After I open the main page of
    OTN Forums and I check what answers I can write to help some people
    to work with the Oracle Technology and I decide to begin to write some
    threads to help DBAs and Developers to learn the new features of 10g.
    I hope you can take advantage of them which will be published here in
    this forum. For any comment you can write to me directly to : [email protected]
    Please do not replay this thread, if you have any question related to
    this I recommend you to open a new post. Thanks!
    The tip of this thread is: DEFAULT USER TABLESPACE
    Joel Pérez
    http://otn.oracle.com/experts

    Step 9: At the step 5 We changed the default tablespace of the database but there is an
    important detail that We have to realize. That detail is the following : when you change
    the default tablespace of the database. The users were using it are move to store its objects
    in the new default tablespace but the objects that were stored in the original tablespace
    remain there. Let's go to look at it:
    Here We are connected to the database as system user
    SQL> show user
    USER is "SYSTEM"Let's go to get connection as new_user user in order to create a table
    SQL> conn new_user/new_user@base1
    Connected.
    Creating a table in the schema NEW_USER
    SQL> create table t1_new_user(c1 number);
    Table created.As you can see that table is stored in the default tablespace assigned to the user new_user
    SQL> select TABLE_NAME, TABLESPACE_NAME from dba_tables
      2  where owner='NEW_USER';
    TABLE_NAME                     TABLESPACE_NAME
    T1_NEW_USER                    USERS1Now, We are going to perform the change at the database level regarding the default tablespace
    SQL> alter database default tablespace TEST;
    Database altered.Now, Let's go to see where the object is stored
    SQL> select TABLE_NAME, TABLESPACE_NAME from dba_tables
      2  where owner='NEW_USER';
    TABLE_NAME                     TABLESPACE_NAME
    T1_NEW_USER                    USERS1The object remain in the original tablespace assigned to the user new_user.
    Here We can realize that the change was successful but the table still remain in the original
    tablespace. You will have to move manually the objects to a new default tablespace.
    SQL> select USERNAME, DEFAULT_TABLESPACE from dba_users
      2  where username='NEW_USER';
    USERNAME                       DEFAULT_TABLESPACE
    NEW_USER                       TESTJoel Pérez

    Folks,
    Hello. I follow the document "Oracle Grid Infrastructure Installation Guide 11g Release 2 (11.2) for Linux E22489-04" and do the following:
    [root@rac1 /]#echo $SHELL
    Output: /bin/bash
    This means we need to edit Bash shell file .bash_profile.
    [ora11g@rac1 ~]$vi /home/ora11g/.bash_profile
    Add this line: umask 022
    Then I save the file .bash_profile and reboot OS.

  • Why must I set the AD as "default user store " when use Kerberos scheme ???

    Hi ,
    I am using kerberos scheme to authenticate user by OAM after user logged into the AD domain . It works well when there is only 1 AD domain ,for I can set that AD as the default identity store so that OAM can find user from the store and set the header .
    But when there are two totally different AD domains with different users , there will be a question. That is , I can only set one AD domain as the default identity store. So when I use the other AD domain to visit webgate protected resource, OAM notice me the the user/password error. But if the AD user exist in both AD domains, it will be OK, because the user mapping is finished correctly.

    It seems OAM must set the AD as "default user store " , and only if so , AD domain users can login to webgate protected resources by kerberos .
    So, how can I make 2 AD available together ? Can you kindly give some advice? It will be very appreciated.
    Thanks !!

    2) I have read that adding -m64 to the compile command will make it 64-bit, is this accurate?It will make compiler produce 64-bit binaries.
    Compiler itself will stay 32-bit ;-)
    3) Is there a way to set the compilers to default to 64-bit so that the user doesn't have to specify -m64?No. At least no compiler-specific way. Only UNIX general tricks (shell alias, shell script etc)
    4) Does everyone just use -m64 and forget about it?Yep. They have no choice

  • Created EUL - Oracle Apps users only

    Hello, all!
    An EUL was previously created and the Oracle Apps users only was checked, which was supposed to be not. Business areas and folders were already created and i want to reuse all. Is there a way i can change the EUL to make it not for oracle apps users (uncheck or something). I tried exporting the eul but got an error ORA-00942 - table or view does not exist.
    Thanks in advance.

    Pl post details of OS, database and EBS versions.
    You cannot disable/expire seeded EBS accounts (such as AK, ALR, AMF etc).

  • 600 Oracle default usernames/passwords available

    Hi Everyone,
    I have just added a page to my site that lists 596 default Oracle users
    and their passwords. The list is available as HTML, CSV, SQL insert
    statements to load the data into a table, MS Excel spreadsheet and Open
    Office spreadsheet. The list can be used to audit your database for
    existing default accounts and to check that their passwords are not
    still the defaults.
    I have also updated the default password check script archive to include
    the much bigger list of default users.
    The Oracle default password lists can be found here:-
    http://www.petefinnigan.com/default/default_password_list.htm
    and the tool to check for default passwords can be found here:-
    http://www.petefinnigan.com/default/default_password_checker.htm
    kind regards

    I'm trying to find out more info on the default SYSADM account installed with version 8i or lower. I believe it is installed with at least DBA privilege, but need to confirm. Is it installed for any particular Oracle product, utility, etc.?

  • Default users

    Hi,
    How to find the default users in oracle10gR2.?
    I tried to find
    select username,password,created from dba_users where account_status='LOCKED' OR account_status='EXPIRED';
    and i have doubts about default users creation date.
    Few days ago i installed oracle10g on windows,but default user creation date shows 2005... why?

    Hi,
    As you said the created date is 2005 right? you query the database with something like created date > '01-jan-2005' so that you can get the thing. It is a workaround but I dont see this as a permenant one.
    The best way is to create the your own uses in your custom tablespace rather than the default tablespace created by the Oracle. So you can easily query the users falls on the DEFAULT_TABLESPACE column.
    You can set your business requirements and can easily keep track of the users created by you.
