Oracle Disk I/O hitting 100% ?

Hi,
We're having an issue where our 2 ZCM servers are no longer responding to user logins, I have to manually stop & restart the Zenserver / Zenloader services as an interim. Our DB admins told us that the Zen database is causing 100% disk I/O and the gave me a trace to post.

Our DB admin has suggested they might be able to build an index for the NC_COMPONENT table, but they think it's a bug in Zenworks...
Does anyone have any suggestions ? I've disabled Inventory Scanning in the ZCC for now...
The problem started last week after doing some 'house cleaning' in deleting workstation objects that are no longer active (if LastAccessDate is before 2010.12.31 then delete ws object)

any problems that I could find have indeed been fixed - and you can
also check using the ZDC if you have everything in place at each stage
(once you have upgraded to 10.2)

Specific about the issue:
I have two database instance created on this server with ‘memory_target=3600M’ each.
I am getting into an issue where I find NO activity on database except regular schedule job running using DBMS_SCHEDULER –
•     Database FULL export DAILY schedule time 7 & 7:30 PM accordingly for both instance (takes about 15-20 mins each)
•     Database FULL RMAN DAILY schedule time 9 & 10 PM accordingly for both instance (takes about 35-40 mins each)
This was set up on Feb 25th 2011. Since then we have encounter CPU hit 100% TWICE in this system at around 8:30 PM (SAME TIME). Both database instance exports keep running and never finish. While RMAN schedule job has NO problem. Mostly everything runs every smoothly without any issue.
Replicate the issue:
I am unable to replicate this issue and do not know the cause of the issue.
Work Around:
Oracle services shutdown/Server reboot.
Would anyone know about this issue? Have any information could help? This system will become production soon and want to make sure we have solution for this.

I am finding that CPU hit 100% is very specific to Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 Export Utility (exp) used to take FULL database export. I understand Original Export is desupported from general use as of 11g but available for specific need.
Have anyone faced this issue with 11.2.0.1.0 Export Utility (exp)? Please help.
I have a need to use export utility which gives us migration options.

Oracle Disk Manager

Is there a kit for porting Oracle Disk Manager to other file
system types other than Veritas or DAFS? Specifically, I would
like to enable ODM for Linux LVM/GFS.

That looks like a 3.0.3 document and the steps do not look like what I remember on 3.2.1. 3.1 improves on 3.0 and there are changes in 3.2...
Please open the help on your 3.2.2 OVS Manager server and walk through the steps/tutorial that it has. That is what I did and it worked for me.
It is fairly confusing as the steps are very different for Local vs SAN vs NFS vs iSCSI. I would search for local storage and focus on those links.
If you hit a step that looks like it isn't working, please paste the help topic name into this thread and the url from your OVM Manager help system and I will try to replicate on 3.2.1.

CPU Hitting 100% +Screen flickering/Flashing

Hi folks, i wanted some help with a problem i started having recently!
My processor seems to be hitting 100% for about 5secs or until that precise folder with .mp4 files fully loads up (when i access .mp4 files), but when i convert them, the screen just flashes/Flickers, until conversion finishes.
I installed Need for speed undercover on my laptop 2months back, ive played it, and now i try to play it the screen flickers once, twice, and it minimises soon as i start to play the game, when i click on the tab again it'll come up for about a minute of my gaming time, and then same problem again it loads up fine, only at times when it loads up this happens, but most the time it's when i start playing the game, due to that i cant exactly play that game no more, until i get this problem fixed.
The system remains quiet but the processor hits 100% and then the problem starts.
what could the problem be???

I rang up Toshiba, and it turned out to be the graphics chip problem.
This model had this problem because the bios settings were not correctly set therefore causing the computer a lot of strain.
Laptops with this problem have an extra year of warranty.
Anyhow problem is now sorted; they had to change the motherboard to sort the whole problem out because the chip is soldered onto it.

I have been trying with the installation for Oracle 10g 10.2.0.100 for 64bit WIndows7 (*ITs Client not Database*) . I am getting error that unknown files have to be replaced or something. I think i dont have correct version or have a corrupted version.Can you guys help me downloading Oracle 10g 10.2.0.100 for Windows7 64bit.Please post the valid links because i have tried different links which are not functioning right now.

CPU usage hits 100% during FIFO read

I have a real time PC with a 7833R RIO board. I write values which I read from a microphone into a FIFO at a sampling rate of 4 kHz.The length of the FIFO is 2048. On the real time PC, when I call "FIFO read" function to read say 400 samples of data, the CPU utilization of the real time PC hits 100%. Why is this so? The "FIFO read" function is placed inside a while loop.

Jaared had given good link to work on.. I suggest about time syncronisation on FIFO read and write..
Consider following case:
B is the data written to the FIFO at F1 frequency and read at F2 frequency
then, time taken to write to the FIFO = B/F1 ;
data read from the FIFO in this time=(B/F1)* F2;
If F1>F2 (write freq>read freq)
The Excess data remained unread = B- (B/F1)* F2;
If F2>F1 (read freq>write freq)
The lack of data for syncronisation = (B/F1)* F2 -B;
The above can help you in designing of synchronised FIFO
Apart from that please use time out also based on above calculation with time

CPU constantly hitting 100%

Hi Experts,
we are facing CPU 100% usage, it is constantly hitting 100%.
what I did was:
checked for any blocking, no blocking session found.
identified the long running query, user killed it as it was creating lot of issues.
Now,
The server with which issue is having 7 instances with 72 GB RAM.
SQL Version is Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (SP3) - 10.0.5770.0 (Intel X86) Dec 29 2011 14:25:37 Copyright (c) 1988-2008 Microsoft Corporation Enterprise Edition on Windows NT 6.1 <X64> (Build 7601: Service Pack 1) (WOW64) (VM).
I have googled, found the answers what I did, but not for many instances on single server.
how to figure out which one(OUT OF 7 INSTANCES) is using up all CPU.
Please help me.

LibreOffice causes CPU to Hit 100%

Has anyone else noticed this? On my machine, Libre Office (which I use quite a bit) is causing one or more cores on my laptop to hit 100%. When I run top, The process "oosplash.bin" is taking up most of the CPU, and is running in three instances. Have you guys seen this too?

Oracle Disk is near to be full

when I checked the oracle disk on windows I found that oracle uses 66 GB and still 842 MB free
is there away to reduce the size?
if I delete some rows from a table, this will reduce the size or I have to do other steps?

please post your database version.
check if undo and temp are in autoextend on mode. if so try to calculate appropriate size required and shrink them.
you can shrink tempfile using "alter database tempfile 'path' resize;' command
but for undo you need to create new undo, make it as default by setting undo_tablespace parameter and then drop old undo tablespace.
if you are having fragmented tables, then you can shrink them using following commands
alter table <table_name> enable row movement;
alter table <table_name> shrink compact;
to see which tables are fragmented, use enterprise manager if your database version is 10g

Disk Usage stuck at 100%, Factory installed windows 8 running like a turtle not being able to use my laptop. What should i do?

I have a HP Pavillion Sleekbook 15-b002ee with Third generation core i5 processor 1.7 GHz, 500 GB Hard disk and 4 GB of RAM installed. Windows 8 came pre installed on it.
I bought this laptop 11 months ago and it worked fine for 10 months and then from the last month its presenting unusual problems. My disk usage is stuck at 100% and the laptop freezes and never lets me work or do anything. Heres what i have already done
to solve the issue but have been unsuccessful:
1) I have reset my PC completely and reinstalled windows 8 using the factory setup. Didnt solve the issue, newly installed windows displays the disk usage 100% and the performance is same i.e the system freezes.
2) I have tried adjusting my paging file, no change made a difference to the performance of my laptop. The default system managed Paging file size is something around 3.89 Gb. Does my problem have anything to do with my paging file?
3) I have tried solving this issue by disabling the "Windows Search" and "Superfetch" services and still it didnt solve the problem.
4) I have also run checkdisk on my hard drive completely. It took me a complete day to do so but still no change.
5) Before resetting my laptop, an error called "Kernel_data_inpage(http.sys)" used to come on my upgraded windows 8.1. Whats the issue?
So what should i do? Is there any problem with my hardware? Is my hard drive having bad sectors and is that causing the problem? Or is there any other technical problem which i couldnt yet find out?
I have explained my problem in a lot detail and i would like a clear answer please, i have been at this issue for many days and this forum seems like the last place where i can find relevant answer because Google isnt helping.

Available disk space varies by 100 GB

Recently I made a defrag on my computer, and for that I had to create a partition of 100 GB, because that's the lowest. After I've done that i deleted the partition. Now i remember it said something about deleting some space or something but I can't remember it. So now when I open Disk Utility I see my available space is 625.52 GB. I'm happy with that, and I know that I have that amount of space left. My problem is that it shows 532.27GB on bottom of my Folders, where it shows your overall available space. What should do I do to solve this problem?

If you launch Disk Utility, select that drive in the column on the left, then select the "Partition" column, how many partitions do you see and how big are they?

Disk drive goes to 100% busy when starting Elements...How do I fix the problem?

I've been successfull running elements for the past few years. Now, the drive goes to 100% and locks up the computer. Elements seems to start-up, but the drive crashes the system. Cannot use Elements 11 at this time. How do I fix the problem?

If you've been using the program successfully for years and suddenly your drive is crashing, I'd first check the drive itself. They do go bad after a couple of years.
I'd also run a registry cleaner, Disk Cleanup, a Disk Defragmenter and maybe even a good virus scan.
YOu don't say which version of Premiere Elements you're using, what operating system you're on or how old your computer is, but computer's do need regular maintenance and hardware sometimes needs to be replaced.

Disk transfer, CPU load 100%

This has been bothering me for a while now and can't seem to find a solution for it.
Whenever I transfer data from whatever media, Internal HD -> USB or just Internal HD -> Internal HD. The CPU load of the Mac goes right to 100% making the machine virtually unworkable. It seems that disk I/O in these circumstances has a huge priority on the system.
Is there a way to lower priority of these actions, well at least CPU related. Or is there another solution that might improve CPU usage somehow?

One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts (Users & Groups in later OSX versions)>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

Xserve G5 CPU2 hitting 100% Usage

We have a problem with our G5 Xserve (Dual 2.3GHz 4GB RAM) with 10.4.8 X Server OS.
Since last a couple of weeks, the network became significantly slow when users log on(much more than usual slowness).
When I look at the glaph in ServerAdmin, the CPU2 is almost hitting the 100% usage whereas CPU1 is around 20%.
Up till today the symptom has been rather temporal - when all the user log off at the end of the lesson(we are art school), then the server is OK again.
But today, the symptom becomes very bad - the network service is very slow - user loggin on takes 2 to 5 mins.
I have heard about simillar problem relate to client 10.4.7 update which may cause the server CPU2 usage to go up significantly.
3 to 4 weeks ago, I have up dated all client OS to 10.4.8 and the Server OS to 10.4.8, too.
I have look through the web as much as I can but I can't find any useful info.
I would appreciate any opinion or suggestion, thanks.

Have you looked at the output of "top" to see what is hogging all the time? What do the console logs show? (you could have a continually-crashing daemon that is repeatedly re-launching).
